Great host and great place, full of character. Had everything I needed, loved the location too. Beautiful views!

The flat is quite spacious and the skylights make it a very pleasant light-filled space with lovely views from the bedroom and living room windows. There's a lot of interesting art and the mirror in the entrance is quite unique and beautiful. It’s also in a convenient, central location—Alamo Park is just a few steps away, there’s a nice neighborhood restaurant almost next door (Monday is half-price bottle night), Hayes Valley, the opera house, the symphony and many excellent restaurants and great shopping are all within an easy walk. Bi-Rite Grocery with its renowned ice cream and wonderful take-out food is nearby on Divisadero.
We were surprised to find that the photos and amenities list on the website don’t totally match the actual flat. The garden patio with the tile tables provides a lovely view when you look down from the flat’s balcony, but it was never clear to us if we could use it or how to access it, some of the furnishings in the flat are not quite the same as the pictures. The amenities list says there’s a garage but we were told when we arrived it was no longer available, and there’s not a fireplace nor wood stove. The washer/dryer is not in the flat and is shared.
The kitchen does have an amazing array of kitchen appliances, including an espresso machine, Cuisinart Smart Stick and a countertop meat slicer, even an olive stuffer. And although the listing didn’t mention weekly cleaning, our 2-week stay did include a no-charge visit by Giancarlo’s housekeepers, which was a wonderful surprise.

We had a great stay in this attic apartment just one block from Alamo Square. We were right around the corner from a family member and could easily get to tourist locations by bus and on foot. We had a great dinner in Hayes Valley and found a cool breakfast spot walking distance on Divisidero. A cute cafe just a couple doors down kept us in bagels, muffins and coffee in the morning The owners were flexible with us on arrival and departure times and didn't seem to mind our young girls tumbling around on the beautiful wood floors. We especially loved the shower with the multiple heads and strong pressure.

We loved the space, location, kitchen that was so well-equipped I didn't even know what some appliances were supposed to do. Clean, comfortable, and a staggeringly awesome view of downtown SF. However it is misleading to call it a one bedroom as basically it is all open space which was fine for me and my daughter but might not be for two couples sharing. Pluses: beautiful bathroom with rainshower and Jacuzzi tub, backyard garden view, excellent media access including an old-fashioned turntable plus discs, plenty of space, aesthetically lovely, bus stop, cafe, nice restaurant, park, two late-night delis just down the street. Parking in garage available which is key in a hard to park neighborhood. Minuses: Jacuzzi a bit temperamental, no microwave which is hard with kids or if you bring home doggie bags, and three steep flights up -- definitely not handicap-accessible. The biggest plus was the charming owner and his delightful family who tolerated our dog and actually invited us to their warm and fabulous delicious Easter dinner!!! Would stay there again in a heartbeat but remember to bring my climbing poles (just kidding).
