I am one of those strange people who like flatter pillows and the bed was so comfortable. The first time I actually slept on the first night at my stay in a hotel room. Generally I have trouble. The bathtub was the standing kind which made washing feel so classy. The whole room was classic including the furniture. The staff was very friendly including the maids. Having the free breakfast was excellent, especially the waffles. The location was nice two, about a five minute walk from Japantown. I even walked back from the War Memorial Opera House and depending on which way you go it can take less time than what Google Map says. That can be helpful for when traffic is busy which it was around that particular area.
The few issues I had was that it was very dusty under and around the bed and the two dressers on each side. Sadly the fireplace is only for looks. One of the bed dressers was wobbly and the lamp almost smacked me in the head. Placing the lamp in the center helped to stabilize it at least. Also, wear earplugs because if you get a corner room you will have traffic going through on all sides. Not much sound proofing either if someone is thumping around above you. Almost all the furniture had damage done in some way or another. Knobs removed, chips on corners, but that wasn't a big deal.

I love the Majestic and have been staying here for years. It is not fancy or modern, but the location is great and it has a timeless elegance. Also has one of the best bartenders in the city. I worry, however that the hotel condition is slipping. My room was perfectly nice, but I could not get over the fact that a leaky window frame had been "fixed" with hideous gray duct tape. Duct tape? Really?

Well it’s not being kept up and the room was quite run down. There was also some ants that popped up in the bathroom despite not being food into that room. The shower flooded the bathroom and the pillows were super flat. The beds are rock hard and actually made my body sore. Customer service was poor and the cafe was always closed except for breakfast. I felt very mislead by reviews but maybe my standards are not as low as everyone else’s. I didn’t complain to management because I didn’t want the workers to feel bad.

Amazing could not have been more perfect even the fabulous breakfast best ever

The proximity of this hotel to Japantown, Van Ness Avenue, and other places in walking distance makes this a desirable place to stay. Even though this is one of the oldest hotels in San Francisco, it has a good reputation. The room was a little cold but the included breakfast, 24-hour coffee and a comfy bed was a good touch

The staff was incredibly friendly, and the place is gorgeous. She’s an old building, so she’s quirky. But it was clean, pretty, and felt very safe. We will be back

We loved this hotel! It was absolutely gorgeous, we liked the attention to detail with the furniture and decor in the rooms and the lobby, bar and dinning area. Breakfast was great. The hotel itself was quiet and relaxing but Gough street can be a bit loud at times.

It is an old hotel but it was clean, which I value the most. The self serve breakfast was substantial. The claw foot tub shower didn’t work that well and it got the floor wet. Even though the hotel was in a nicer part of town, I recommend future customers Uber to their destinations and not walk too far from the hotel as we didn’t feel safe.

The hotel is a beautiful clean work of art. I stayed in a junior suite with my partner for my birthday and felt like a princess! The room is so cute and spacious, even has a clawfoot tub!! My room was next to the street so you will hear cars passing by all night, it wasn’t much a problem since we played ambience music to try to cover the sound which helped! The room had an ac so that was great! The hotel also provided complementary breakfast which consisted of eggs, waffles, bread, fruit, yogurt, cereal and various jams and sweets with coffee and beverages. We stayed two nights and skipped breakfast the second morning but it’s nice that the hotel offers complementary breakfast! I would definitely stay again as it was in a ideal and safe location! Not to far from Japan town and bus stops !

Friendly service in a neat old space. Some issues with the technology (checkin screen, card keys, computer issues for the staff) but I know it was just a blip. Our room was fine; I know there are bigger and better ones there. For the price I am not complaining.

We chose this hotel because the furnishings & decor reminded us of the old world charm that goes with San Francisco. It was really lovely but for it to be outstanding, the hotel would need to do some small updating of carpets throughout and upgrade the bathrooms. The breakfast area was actually really elegant, with nice architecture & beautiful seating, but the offering at the Continental Breakfast was lacking if you are trying to stay away from breads & pastries. It was a nice location & central to all the areas we wanted to visit during our stay. All in all, we enjoyed our 4 night stay there.

Great customer service. The receptionists are always friendly. The house keepers do super good job every time I stay here. This hotel is a home away from home.

Lovely old hotel. Struggling a little bit to keep things up after COVID but really, really beautiful and quiet. Terrific value.

A great experience in a traditional hotel. Room was very big along with the bathroom which had a double sink and stand alone tub. Walking distance to Japantown.

So we parked at one of the listed parking garages. At 6:30 pm on a Friday. We were told by the attendant that they closed at 7:00 pm but would open again at 0800. When we arrived the next morning to retrieve our cars we learned that they were closed until Monday morning. Essentially are cars were held hostage. Very bad parking!!

The hotel is too outdated. No central air conditioning or heating system. Air-conditioned ran through the window, therefore the window did not shut close and we heard noises all night because the rolm was next to a busy road. Couldn't sleep all night. I had to use a portable electric heat was used. No parking?! I had to pay another $45 to park somewhere else and Walk to the hotel? That's absurd.

Love this hotel. Extremely friendly staff. Beautiful, large rooms. Very clean, bright, Victorian style. Also in one of SF’s best neighborhoods. Highly recommended, especially considering the affordability.
