About this house rental
This is the perfect Berkshire home to swim, hike, leaf-peep, ski, sled, engage in the cultural attractions of the neighborhood (Tanglwood, Jacobs Pillow, Shakespeare and Co etc.), RELAX and get away only minutes to Stockbridge main st, Lenox and Lee.
A 1/4 mile driveway takes you to a private vacation home on its own (2.5 acre) lake. A sophisticated aeration system runs 24/7, and keeps this one of the healthiest swimming holes in the Berkshires! The loudest sound is the water running out of the lake into the stream that empties into the Housatonic.
The setting is gorgeous with a 5 person hot tub built into a large deck overlooking the water.
The space:
A large great room with a stacked stone fireplace is the center of activity. The house is 2500 sq ft, featuring 3 bedrooms, 3 full baths, and a large sun-room with a (brand new!) sofa bed with memory foam mattress for extra company.
Totally open floor plan downstairs, you have a kitchen and dining area open to the Great Room, with a cathedral ceiling all overlooking the water.
Outside is a large wrap around deck with a hot tub built into the deck. At night, you can take a wonderful soak while studying a sky that is filled with stars.
There is also a fire pit to make s'mores, and plenty of open area behind and in front of the house for activities. There is a ping pong table in the back as well.
The house sits on 36 private acres, with hiking, swimming and fishing as some possible activities. Across the road is a park that has additional hiking trails. And all this is in the heart of the Berkshires, less than 5 minutes from downtown Stockbridge and Lee and less than 10 to Lenox, and just over 10 minutes from Great Barrington. But TOTAL privacy!
The Massachusetts Turnpike is 5 minutes away. Driving time to Boston is 2 hours, and New York City is 2.5 hours.
Summer:
We are 10 min to tanglewood, Shakespeare and Co, the Norman Rockwell Museum and 15 min to Jacobs pillow. A short drive (per above) to all the other wonders of the Lee/Lenox/Stockbridge/Great Barrington area!
Winter:
In the winter there is a huge sledding hill on our property right behind the house. We are 15 min drive to the awesome Butternut and Bousquet Ski Areas and 30 min to Catamount.

This is the second time we’ve stayed at the Herin House! If you’re looking for a relaxing, charming and we-energizing stay, this is the place! The tranquility of sitting in front of the fireplace while overlooking the pond is exactly what the doctor ordered!
We absolutely plan on making this an annual event!

Just spent a lovely weekend with family and friends in the perfect weekend getaway home. The house is in an idyllic location, close to many wonderful places to visit in the beautiful Berkshires. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet and restful respite.

We’ve stayed several places in the Berkshires and this one takes the prize. The house is well set up for a group, with spacious common area that’s open to the kitchen. Your own private pond on 10 wooded acres is what really sets this place apart. We swam, canoed, bird-watched, and enjoyed the beauty of the fall colors. The location is also convenient to everything. The host was extremely helpful in responding to a minor issue. Highly recommend Heron House!

This unique property is in a class all by itself. The privacy is total, the atmosphere is one of total relaxation. The home is open and roomy, well appointed and has everything you need to stay cozy, fed and happy. The fireplace is mesmerizing and the hot tub is so inviting, easy in and out and begs you to lay back and relax. It checks all my boxes for a vacation getaway. Access to the home is easy and communication with the owner and the property manager is very easy with immediate response. Five stars is truly not enough to describe this private paradise!

When we saw the photos of this listing, we thought it was too good to be true. We were so happy to find that the property was even better in person than in the photos. The pond and house are exceptional. It was the perfect spot to relax and unwind for the weekend. We will definitely be looking to come back in the future!

We had a spectacular Memorial Day weekend at Heron House in the Berkshires. What a wonderful house on a beautiful small lake with complete privacy. And right in the heart of the Berkshires, close to everything! House is immaculate, beautiful decorating and wonderful porch overlooking the lake. We look forward to our next stay at Heron House.

We had the most relaxing week at Emily & Selom’s beautiful property. Highlights were scrabble by the fire, sunset in the hot tub and a visit to downtown Great Barrington.

Beautiful house and property. Quick access to hiking trails, skiing, and restaurants. One of my all time favorite houses on VRBO. Must visit.

We loved Heron House. Words are inadequate to describe such a beautiful and comfortable place. The kitchen was big enough for 2 or 3 to work in, with the pond, hiking, sledding, and hot tub all made for a wonderful weekend for adults and children alike. We were planning our next stay before we left.

Couldn't have asked for a better stay! Owner was incredibly responsive and just wonderful throughout booking and upon arrival. House was in pristine condition, especially impressive as it appears the last people to stay were there for 4 weeks and left the day of our arrival. The house was actually bigger than we expected with a massive kitchen that was well stocked with quality cookware. Unfortunately, my wife suffered a nasty ankle sprain the day before we arrived so we were not able to get out as much as we had planned. No worries there, we had an amazing time watching the fire, reading, and drinking the provided local and delicious coffee. The views from this perfectly private property are breathtaking from every room in the house. The icing on the cake was the 1"+ of snow that fell Tuesday night. James Taylor got it right; Dreamlike! For those reading this that are first timers to the Berkshires like us: We found that driving south on 7 were our favorite adventures. Lee, Lenox, Great Barrington, Stockbridge, and Sheffield were perfectly "our speed". We are already planning our next stay, likely for warmer whether as it was far too cold to enjoy the massive private lake for anything but viewing. Thank you for sharing this magical place with us, it is a memory that we will cherish forever!

The house was everything Emily described. The pictures online do not so it justice. If you want to relax and sit in the hot tub, or in front of the fireplace this is the place to be. Lenox, Stockbridge and Pittsfield are not more than 20 minutes away.
We will definitely be back!

This is a beautiful home, set on a pond with complete privacy. The house is comfortable and well equipped. The location is central to virtually everything in the Berkshires. Communication with the owners was excellent. Already planning a return stay.

Beautiful setting, feels very remote but only minutes to everything. Amazing property. Very helpful host providing excellent recommendations for local restaurants, activities, coffee shops and quick responses to questions. We look forward to a return visit.

We had an amazing week staying at this property. Very large place, completely isolated from the world. Having your own pond is great! The house has everything you need, and lots of things to do inside and out. Owners were great, very easy to work with. Highly recommend, planning on returning someday!

Emily was very easy to work with from the time I was inquiring and all during the stay. The house is very open with beautiful windows, and the deck out to the pond and hot tub has beautiful views. Having 3 full bathrooms was great with the family being there. Also the kitchen was well stocked for some great family dinners! A great location to Lee, Great Barrington and Lenox sand very close to the mass pike!
Look forward to many more visits!

The house is beautiful and exactly as pictured. Perfect for a family vacation or a romantic getaway. Location is amazing: extremely private yet many restaurants and things to do within a 10-15 minute drive. Directions on how to use everything in the house are thorough and clear. Appreciated the Brita pitcher in the fridge! Hoping to return for another anniversary getaway in the future.

Tucked away gem. when we walked into the main room, we both said out loud: Wow! It's beautiful. Very well appointed and comfortable. Loved how secluded, quiet and peaceful it is. Short distance (minutes) to Lee and Lenox. Opened the deck doors from the bedroom to the deck at night....listen to nature!

It's like a private compound in the woods with its own pond. Inside is light and spacious. Just check out the pictures, that's what it is like. Super close to town even though it feels so isolated and quiet when you are there.

The house is gorgeous and well-appointed with everything we needed. We loved the view of the lake out the giant windows and there was plenty of room for the kids to run around. At first, there was an issue with the hot tub but the property manager came by right away to fix it. We would definitely come back!

The Heron House was a beautiful, open house on 34 acres in the Berkshires. With a lake out front of huge picture windows, a fireplace in the living room, and a hot tub on the large deck, it was all we could ask for. But bonuses included a sledding hill behind the house and a nice sun room for the kids to hang out in. The owner was very responsive and quick to answer any messages. The location is really convenient to the Berkshire towns of Lee, Stockbridge, Great Barrington and Lenox. All in all a really nice place to stay in a great area.

Heron House was the perfect family getaway. Skiing, scrabble and plenty of time in the hot tub. Emily was a fabulous host who paid attention to the little details to make this a perfect trip.

This house was a huge hit with all of my girlfriends as we celebrated my birthday with a girls weekend in the woods. It's conveniently located near shopping, but feels like it's secluded. It's quiet, beautiful, and well stocked. We enjoyed a winter jacuzzi dip, roasted marshmallows by the fire, cozied up around great food we made in the spacious kitchen, and enjoyed coffee looking at the view of the gorgeous pond.
We would love to come back in all seasons, especially the summer so we can swim in the lake. There is so much to do in the Berkshires, but this house is also perfect for a cozy weekend in to just relax and enjoy one another's company.

I can't say enough about the property and the Hosts. Such a great area to explore, both on and off the grounds of the Heron House. A perfect relaxing getaway. We can't wait to go back! Thank you for hosting us!

We were looking for a winter getaway just to relax as a family. The Heron House was exactly what we needed. It was clean comfortable and quiet. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to make meals. The hot tub was a welcome opportunity to relax and rejuvenate! This place is geared towards families too. There was plenty of wood to keep the fire going inside, and plenty of space to get out and explore the winter trails. We had a wonderful time and hope to return in the summer months! The host made sure that the house was prepared with everything we needed, and the decor was simple and stylish.

This is a very nice house in a great location (both the immediate property on the pond, and the convenient setting in the beautiful Bershires). Emily is a very attentive and it's clear she is sincerely interested in providing a positive experience.

This is a beautiful house in a beautiful location. Comfortable beds/sheets. Stocked kitchen, bathrooms, with the exception of only 2 face cloths. So I would recommend bringing some if you use them. Only 1/4 box of tissues left, would’ve been great to have one more box. Only one of the bathrooms had spray, would’ve been nice to have one in each bathroom. The hot tub is an extra bonus and was lovely during the day and night. Instructions for hot tub, garbage, etc was nicely summed up in a binder. The wood provided cannot be used in fire pit per the rules in the binder, need smaller pieces. This would’ve been nice to know up front. Emily was very prompt and informative in her responses to my questions. Overall a great stay in a great location. Would stay again.
