Everything would have been perfect, except for a couple of minor things that would have made all the difference in feeling welcome.
I was terribly disappointed to finally get to relax in the cabin, it was evening, I was looking forward to starting my weekend with a nice shower, only to find no soap. NO SOAP? Even the cheapest hotels give you shower soap! That is not something I think to bring with me. We ended up using the antibacterial liquid hand soap. Yuck.
I could overlook that, but the next miscalculation on the part of the welcome committee caused a Homer Simpson scream to emanate from my trying-to-have-an-amazing-weekend mouth early in the AM... : no coffee filters.
The brochure lists amenities.
The amenity listed is a coffeemaker.
HOW WOULD I KNOW WHICH COFFEE FILTERS TO BUY AND BRING WITH ME???
This is an unforgivable oversight. The cabin is amazing, the property managers and all employees were amazing, yet these two simple details could have changed my whole perspective on life for the good.
Instead, I will have to ask stupid questions next time I'm trying to book a cabin that will get me labeled as a control freak, yet I have PTSD now.
Since bad experiences can make other things seem bad, I was also quite disappointed to learn the hot tub does not go over 99 degrees because of the locked temperature settings. 99 degrees is not very warm for a 30 degree +/- night to gaze at the stars and forget our troubles.
Having said all that, the property was lovely.
Having the aforementioned discrepancies remedied would have made the price per night of the cabin worth it.

I really liked this property for its size, location, and decor. It has two bedrooms and a smaller room with a futon that someone else can sleep on, making it more like 3 bedrooms. There is no central AC but there is a ceiling fan in the main room that cools down that area. In one of the bedrooms there was a fan, otherwise it would've been too hot to sleep. Everything was very clean and comfortable. It is super close to the main town area, which made it great for going into town and coming back easily. Also, just FYI, the hot tub is inflatable and not like a regular hot tub, but it's nice. The outdoor area is perfect for relaxing.

We had a pleasant stay at the Lilac House. Close enough to town, but far enough away for peace and quiet. Kitchen was fully stocked for meal making and the bbq was an added bonus. The main room was very comfy and cozy for relaxing, reading or watching tv. Plenty of seating inside and out to enjoy the hone and outdoors. The snow all around was very pretty. Property management was wonderful and friendly. Very accommodating. Thank you so much. Would definitely recommend.

In general, it was fair to excellent since I rented 3 properties. Parents in one house, children in second house, grandkids in third house. It was a family reunion and a timeout for us all at the same time. It was a restoration of family from the effects of COVID 19.

Overall, I would describe our stay at the Lilac House as magical. The home has a cabin in the woods rustic feel that made us feel that we were alone in the woods despite being in the middle of a neighborhood. We spent mornings with Campfyre Coffee on the deck and evenings in the hot-tub watching the stars. My only complaints were the lack of curtains on the front windows, and some windows didn't open or needed to be propped to stay open but, added to the rustic charm.

This property's pictures are very deceiving, very overpriced for the condition. Property very old and not maintained. Broken wall heater, leaking fridge, walkway unsafe, overgrown brush. Deck old and unsafe, nails protruding out. Animal hair on spare bed sheets. Dirty living room pillows. Spider inside the sheets of other bedroom. Master bed old and dipped in. No broom for clean up. Shower rusted.

This was a lovely cabin as pictured, I would recommend bringing some of your own bathroom and bedding supplies depending on how many folks are staying, but it was beautiful and cozy!

I took my adult daughter and a friend here to celebrate their birthdays, be in nature and relax. The house was perfect! Very quaint and plenty of room to have our own space and be together! We loved the hot tub, yard and the neighborhood. We had everything we needed to cook and even bake. I will definitely return and recommend it to anyone who wants a peaceful getaway! Would be great for a family with small kids too!

Pros:
* Cute little cabin. Rather kitschy but charming if that's your thing.
* Very cozy, very nice for riding out a snowy weekend.
* Wood-burning fireplaces are wonderful and this one was just fine.
* Hot tub was great (even post snowstorm)
* Wifi worked fine
* Covered parking was a big deal in the snow.
Cons:
* Communication with the property management company was quite bad. My wife and I are weirdos that travel with our cats and while the listing was noted as pet-friendly, we always want to doublecheck with the owners that they are OK with cats and not just dogs. I did so through VRBO when I booked (no response), then I did it the next day when they property management company sent me 4 or 5 additional contracts and waivers to sign (no response, also a little off-putting), then I followed up a week later when I still hadn't heard anything (no response). Eventually a day before the trip, someone noticed I hadn't turned in the forms and the Cat Issue became a problem. We were told the day before we were scheduled to leave that that while dogs were $25-$35/day, cats were TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY dollars per day, per cat! Cat dander you see. Totally different than dog dander. Have to shampoo the carpets in this house that is 80% hardwood floors. Yes, quite. To their credit, they eventually dropped the issue and agreed to charge $35/day per cat which was fine, but I just knew this was going to be an issue and sure enough it was.
* Heat in the master bedroom was out, but they provided two space heaters which did the job well enough.
* The cabin was remarkably underprovisioned. Very few utensils, cookware (the broiler pan was the closest thing to a baking sheet we could find), wood, miscellaneous leftover spices, etc. Apparently some of these are available at the rental office, but we didn't know that because we got in so late we missed check-in. Fair enough.

1. Very nice interior wood-cabin feel, definitely cozy. Nice fireplace. Cozy living room couch and chairs. Kitchen was a good size for 2-3 ppl to work in at a time and had plenty of flatware, mugs, glasses, forks knives etc. Bring your own sharp knife, this place had terrible, dull and dangerous cheap knives! Cookware was decent at best. No cookie sheets on premise.
2. Beds were okay as far as comfort.
3. Main (common) bathroom shower, which was roughly 2 1/2‘ x 2 1/2‘ was terrible - either freezing cold or scalding hot (everyone wound up using the master bedrooms shower).
4. Medium bedrooms bed was NOT “sanitized”. It had crumbs in it, dog hair, human hair and an funky odor. The couple staying in that room was VERY unhappy with this discovery (“especially during COVID, I mean come’on!”)
5. Oven smoked pretty heavily due to gunk on the base of it.
6. Something was leaking with the refrigerator constantly. The interior roof of the fridge which was attached to the freezer was dripping from 2 different places and our food throughout the whole weekend was getting wet. Puddles would form on top of food items and when you would go to grab something you’d wind up having to wipe up the floor and shelves after spilling the puddle that you didn’t realize was there. We had to arrange our food to create space for two separate water catchers. It was very frustrating constantly having to soak up puddles and empty nasty water cups.
7. The dining room table was so janky and wobbly we couldn’t use it. While the table by the front window was also a little loose it was much better than the other and that is where we had all of our meals.
8. Coffee maker was okay, no issues.
9. House heat was great! Kicked on easy and warmed up fast.
10. The outdoor jacuzzi was of decent quality (One of those professional blowup kind) and could comfortably fit four adults but no more than that unless you’re trying to get real close to each other! BUT, the cleanliness of it was a 6.5 out of 10 rating in my opinion. While they did treat the water prior to our arrival there was still a fresh brown gunk line at the water level which was pretty offputting. It could’ve used a better scrub! Nobody wants to be sitting in a Jacuzzi that’s forming brown foamy Jacuzzi bubbles, yuck!
OVERALL - The atmosphere of this cabin in the woods was very nice but this home is definitely very old, has housed a lot of people who have not respected it and it is filled with old janky appliances.

We had a lovely three night stay enjoying the snow with our two dogs at this rental. Great location, only one mile walk to town. The cabin is a little shabbier than the pictures indicate, but all in all it was comfortable & cute. The cabin doesn't have central heat, only one wall heater working (in the living room), & only one small space heater working (though there were two). Once you get the fire going, the living room is nice & toasty but I would definitely suggest asking the rental company for an extra space heater if you end up using the extra bedroom. We enjoyed our quiet stay, romping in the snow with the dogs, & sitting in the Jacuzzi on the deck. Definitely worth the stay.

My friend and I were looking for a property that was dog friendly, had a spa, an open floor plan and I thought I had found the perfect spot! It's a great location and has a lot of potential, but I just want to make sure that other renters have the right expectations.
I booked a few months in advance and saw the most recent reviews mentioning a broken heater and a stove burner so I reached out to the property manager to ensure that gets addressed and I had the proper expectations. First, they responded to the other reviewer that they fixed the burner... LOL! They literally just covered it with foil. Second, I asked about the broken heater and they assured me it was because people didn't know how to use it... LOL! I arrived in the master bedroom to find a "Doesn't work" sticker above the thermostat. I must say though there was a nice portable heater in the master. The second bedroom has a gray heater where the one and off button completely does not work. I'm just glad I went with my girlfriend and we ended up sleeping in the same bed.
The location is fantastic and the space is nice. However, the pictures do not include random pieces of furniture that had been pushed in every corner where it did feel a bit cluttered. The lighting in the kitchen is not the best, but it's not too bad if you don't plan to cook too much.
Overall, the reason why I am leaving this detailed review of my grievances is because I reached out to the property manager prior to my stay to confirm and I was given misinformation. It's not like I was going to request a refund or discount... I really just wanted to make sure I prepared properly. So for this reason, I was disappointed especially for the price I paid.

A private and comfortable getaway nestled in the quiet community of Idyllwild. We brought our dog and had a great 4 days relaxing by the fire in the living room together, and cooking up homemade meals. Very close to town- we walked there in 15 minutes. It was 85 degrees outside during our stay but inside the house remained very cool (even without AC). The only comment I have for improvements is the stove- one of the burners did not work. And when we checked in, we were told the BBQ may not be working. With the maintenance fees we paid for the booking, we hoped we were paying for maintained appliances. If you plan on grilling or cooking up a feast, you might want to call and check about the appliances ahead of time. Overall a good stay, I would recommend this place.

Property location was great and the staff was great to work with. It needed a deep cleaning (cobwebs and dust). Not all heating units were functioning (master bedroom and bathroom, dining room). Renters should be advised that no soap or shampoo are provided. House could benefit from a substantial update. For what we paid, we were disappointed in the overall condition of the property.

Cure for cabin fever? A different cabin!
My husband and I stayed at Lilac House for two nights. This was our first getaway since the pandemic began, and we really enjoyed it. The cabin is very cute and is just a short drive from town. If you like to cook, there are two well-stocked grocery stores nearby. If you like to sleep in, bring an eye mask and earplugs (lots of birds singing their hearts out!)

This house was very nice. The pictures do make it look a bit bigger than it actually is but the nice thing about the house it the deck. We spent so much time out there amongst the trees that it was fantastic. The decor reminds you of when you were growing up. They even had an old fashioned pencil sharpener. The kitchen was usable for some light cooking. Some of the pans and utensils were pretty lightweight. The location was pretty good as it is close to downtown. They say you can walk but it's a pretty hefty walk uphill to get back home. It's a short drive though.

Cozy House
The house was just right for our trip. It is cozy and comfortable. Need an upgrade on the TV to a bigger one above the fire place. But I would not stay more than a weekend. The shower in the second bathroom is awful. If you are staying in cold months the bathroom in the master bedroom takes forever to warm up.
