The spot is conveniently located to 15 minutes to SLO (DT and Cal Poly), 15 minutes to the ocean (Avila Beach) and half way between LA & SF. We are near wonderful activities, wineries and experiences.

Our pet-friendly vacation rental has two bedrooms with a king bed downstairs and three queen beds upstairs. We store two additional queen size futons and a 'Pack n' Play' for babies. There are bathrooms on each level, a fully outfitted kitchen and a large outdoor deck. There are great views from every window. I think the kitchen window must have one of the best views ever for washing dishes! :)
We are on the famous Pacific Coast Highway (Hwy. 1). The coastal retreat halfway between LA and SF. Our road (Prefumo Canyon) turns into See Canyon and leads to Avila Beach. There is a short 15 minute scenic drive to downtown SLO (Thursday Night Farmer’s Market, restaurants, nightlife etc.) and beautiful Avila Beach (spectacular beach, pier, shops, wineries, etc). Famous Avila and Sycamore Mineral Springs offer a therapeutic experience in a group setting or privately in secluded tubs set amongst the tree-canopied hillside. You are in a serene and peaceful setting, but not too far from all the action!
We are on 8 mountain top acres with world class views, hikes and wildlife right outside your door. Barbecue, share a meal and wine on the deck or picnic down by the raised garden beds. We invite our guests to enjoy fresh vegetables and eggs from the gardens and henhouse, so help yourself! In addition to our chickens, we have a pet tortoise named 'Walter' (Everyone loves Walter) and a Koi Pond in front of the Irish Hills House.
The vacation rental is well suited to romantic & girls getaways, family friendly & Cal Poly parents stays, adventure seekers & coastal journeys. We love dogs here!
This is a dedicated VRBO, which is professionally cleaned before each guest's arrival with clean and fresh, sheets and towels. The house is maintained in pristine condition in preparation to offer a 'hotel-clean' experience amongst breathtaking mountain-top views in nature and tranquility.
The Irish Hills House is across a deck from our main home. We respect boundaries and the experience is intimate and free of distraction.
We run at almost full occupancy, so if you see an opening and you are ready - please feel free to Instant book! Also, please feel free to follow up with any questions - none are silly :)!
See you soon!

I've stayed at a lot of "short-term rental properties" thru this app and the other. Ryan's place sits at the very top. From his willingness to communicate to his wonderful family (Bourbon, Cider, and Walter the tortoise) Ryan is the perfect host. And don't even mention the view. It's like waking up inside a postcard. Absolutely stunning. The house is big, which is great. The upstairs is like being in a modern cabin with the sloped ceilings while the downstairs is like being in a well appointed home. Views from every window. Ryan has done an incredible job of setting up the property to run like a well established hotel. Instruction are clear, and concise. the amenities are just what you need, and Ryan is available at a moment's notice to answer any questions but is perfectly happy giving you as much solitude as you want. We had a wonderful stay and can't wait to go back. We already miss the view, and the friends we made.

Ryan was a great host! His property was perfect for our family of 4. The views from the house are amazing and the house was well equipped and easy to find. Bourbon and Cider were adorable and very well behaved. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area.

On our way from LA to SF we made a pit stop in SLO and found this incredible gem. Ryan was super communicative - especially helpful in prepping us for the very lonnnnng drive up the mountain to his property. But the drive was worth it and the sunset took our breath away. Great space and beautiful setting. Would stay here again

Everything on the site is accurate - it really is a hidden gem. Don't hesitate to stay for the outstanding views, the quiet, and the hospitality.

Had a fantastic stay enjoying the picturesque scenery and clean/comfortable property. Highly recommend!

My family and I really enjoyed the scenic views and beautiful sunsets. Ryan, the host, was very personable and welcoming. My children loved Walter the tortoise and playing with Bourbon and Cider. The house was large enough to accommodate our family of seven comfortably and we appreciated the thoughtfulness of items available to us, especially the Weber grill.

My husband had to arrive with our dogs without me due to work. The owner Ryan was amazing and helped walk one of our dogs while they toured the property.
The property itself has a gorgeous view of hillsides and a view of the Morro Bay coastline. You can view them from your deck or windows. It was so quiet that you could hear cows faintly in the distance and see foxes passing by on the main road.
Bed was amazing!! The dogs loved the deck and going for short jaunts around the main house. 10/10 we will be back for the next 4th of July to help allow our pups to relax and get away from it all.

Very fortunate to spend some time in this magical place. The amiable host was very knowledgeable about the unique geographical and cultural features of the area. The night sky was awesome, too!

This hilltop house near San Luis Obispo exceeded all our expectations for a memorable CalPoly graduation weekend. Situated in the picturesque Irish Hills, the views of the surrounding landscapes were absolutely awesome and offered a serene backdrop for all our activities.
The property itself is well maintained and thoughtfully designed, providing all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. The kitchen has all needed utensils for cooking and baking and serving a nice family meal. The living area was spacious and perfect for gathering with friends and family.
One of the highlights of the stay getting to know hosts - including the 4-legged welcome committee of Bourbon, Cider & Walter 😏. The home offered stunning sunsets that could be enjoyed from almost every room in the house and from the outdoor patio. San Louis Obispo and Morro Bay were visible in one beautiful panorama. We can highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat with beautiful views and a touch of luxury.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful place. The view from our unit was awesome. We could see the ocean and Morro Bay when the marine layer lifted, as well as the Los Osos Valley and the mountains beyond. Ryan is a gracious host, who became a friend during our short stay. Bourbon and Cider are adorable. This was the best VRBO we’ve stayed in, by far. We are looking forward to going back.

We stayed here as a stop on our honeymoon. Ryan made the check in process very easy and is available for anything you need. The Irish Hills house has everything you need! There aren’t words for the view. We did not want to leave! Would definitely stay again.

Family gathered at the house for an anniversary celebration. The facility served us perfectly; kitchen was well equipped and there were plenty of towels in the bathrooms. The dining room accommodated 8 so having group meals was easy and fun. The beds were comfortable, although the king bed downstairs was a little too close to the kitchen and bathroom for my liking. Everything was very clean and extra bedding was provided at our request so my niece could crash on the sofa. The hosts, Ryan and his pups, were the best! Very gracious and accommodating and not intrusive. And the views from the property were so much better than described. It was like being up above the world in a little bit of heaven.

We had 8 adults stay here for a family wedding. The listing says that it sleeps 10, however 8 was snug. To say that it is 3 bedrooms is a stretch, considering the king bed is in the living room. It worked for our group as we were all family, but I wouldn’t recommend for blended groups of couples if privacy is important. The upstairs “bedroom” which is a mattress on the floor, and bathroom is suitable for anyone under 5’4”. It seemed like it hadn’t been used in a while as we cleaned many cobwebs from the shower and hallway. The view is beautiful and the host is friendly.

Can't beat the view! Watching the sunset from the deck was as good as it gets.
Ryan is a great host and made us feel right at home. Bourbon and Cider are such good boys and made us feel like family!

Great time with long time girl friends! It was an adventure getting there but well worth the million dollar views! Thank you Ryan, Bourbon & Cider for being great hosts.

The view from our place with spectacular. Beautiful views in every direction. It was a delight to sit out on the deck and soak in the view. The house was comfortable and well kept.
Ryan was a very friendly host and his two dogs were great fun to play with.
We are ebike riders and appreciated that we could ride from the house down to the beach.
We will be back!

The location and views are excellent, house clean and well equipped. We were unable to use the laundry facilities. We found out after the owner had left that they can only be used when he is there so put us in a bit of a pinch.

The views do not disappoint. Ryan is very friendly and responsive.

My family and I stayed here for the night and had a great time. The view is amazing. We really enjoyed how spacious the space was. Ryan was a great host and is very responsive. We’d love to stay here again next time we’re in SLO

Has a great time! Loved Walter the turtle and the dogs! Ryan was a great host!

My dog and I had a wonderful time here. Ryan, Cider and Bourbon were great hosts! I also had fun taking grasses, clover, blueberries and yummy food scraps to the lady hens. My dog loved all the smells on the property.
It was SO quiet at all times of the day and night and the views were absolutely stunning, even while driving to and from the home.
Ryan went out of his way to make us feel at home. We had a chance to talk several times, but he also honored my privacy. He is a very interesting person and a pleasure to be around.
The only things that didn't work great for me was that there wasn't anywhere to give my dog, who I cater to, a good walk, as the road is steep and winding, and I didn't feel safe walking there. I had to drive down the hill to give my dog good walks. That said, there were nice places to walk him 20 or more minutes away and the dog beach in Avila was great.
I felt like I was staying in a very nice Manhattan, NY loft except I was on a hilltop overlooking stunning nature instead... a very good thing. The kitchen had everything and more that you could want. The very comfortable king bed is in an open space with the living and dining room. This worked perfect for me, but it may be odd for some groups. I actually preferred it this way, though.
Ryan, thank you for a wonderful visit! Hug the dogs and the hens for me!

Ryan, Bourbon and Cider were gracious, engaging and generous with their time and resources. This was a trip to remember -- the view is spectacular, the night sky is unpolluted, and the visit was one to remember

Starting with the description, there was no mention of 15 steps leading to the unit. For older people with mobility issues such as myself, it became a chore to load and unload our belongings. The pictures showed a nightstand on either side of the king size bed. There was only one. The king size bed was located in open space, shared with the dining room and living room. The upstairs bathroom has the sink and toilet too close together. The upstairs shower has very little headroom. A tall person would have difficulty with the shower head. The first day we discovered mouse droppings in the utensil drawer. We asked the host for mouse traps and proceeded to catch two mice that night. We set up two more traps to catch others, but left before that happened. The entire outside surface of the dining room table had a sticky substance that everything placed on it would stick. Playing cards became a challenge. Finally, the unit needs a deep cleaning.

Absolutely stunning property to stay at for New Year's Eve. Incredible views of SLO and Morro Bay. Ryan was very communicative. Would be happy to stay here again.

We made a pitstop at the Irish Hills House and are so glad we did. The panoramic vista was awesome in the true sense of the word. Beds were super comfy and the living quarters are well equipped and spacious. Host’s Ryan, Bourbon and Cider made us feel welcome and at home. Unfortunately, Walter was asleep when we went to say hello. All in all, I’d highly recommend this VRBO offering.

This is a 10 of 10 place to stay for the views alone. I have also never stayed anywhere so quiet. The host was exceptionally helpful. There are lovely sights with a short drive of the property.

The owner was very gracious. The view is unbeatable. The place was definitely a little rundown compared to the pictures, but spoke to the owner about it and he was open to making adjustments. We stayed 2023 summer with friends and were astounded by the area and local towns and coast. Be ready to drive a narrow road to and from the house. Gorgeous! Highly recommend!

I can't summarize accurately how great our stay was. First and foremost the place is Beautiful. We were so privileged to be able to stay there.
High in the highs of SLO with beautiful Vista views of the surrounding hillsides. Quiet, restful, and peaceful the place had a real Zen feel to it.
Ryan was the best host. We saw deer, foxes, squirrels and beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The place was exquisite.
Ryan was an excellent host my wife Dina and I have made a friend for life. It is a great place to stay, if you choose to stay here, you will not be disappointed.
Five stars Hands down ! We loved his place.
Thanks, Ryan,
For Everything.
Monye and Dina.

Ryan was an excellent host, super communicative. The photos really do not do the view justice. The drive alone to reach the pinnacle of Prefumo is worth it (make sure you warn anyone prone to car-sickness, it can be windy!). The dogs on property Bourbon and Cider are the sweetest and friendliest pups, a plus for dog-lovers. The freshly-hatched eggs from the chickens were also an unexpected perk-- best eggs ever! A great, peaceful stay. Definitely plan to bring groceries up with you-- you won't want to leave.

Ryan was extremely attentive and communicative. Bourbon and Cider and the other pets were wonderful also. We spotted many deer and some baby foxes nearby. Ryan provided many ideas for fun and beautiful places to go nearby.

Dear Ryan, Thank you so much for sharing a piece of heaven with us. The location was breath taking and a perfect place to celebrate our 30th year anniversary. It's so close to all the cool spots. SLO is my stomping grounds and we can't wait to visit again. In addition, thank you so much for quickly taking care of the issue that we encountered when we arrived, mother nature can be so unpredictable. The two pups(Bourbon and Cider) are such sweeties! My husband felt in love with Walter the tortoise and the chickens. We were so happy when we got a few of the fresh eggs, thank you! Lastly, I'm very sorry about your Dad's situation, wishing him a fast recovery.

The view is spectacular no doubt about it! However the propane had ran out and we could not cook, take showers or have central heat. The host was very nice and gave us a heater but being that it was in a Sunday there was no way to get propane brought up ASAP. We were only staying two days so we had to rough it. We were in town for a wedding and getting ready was a bit of a challenged and there was mouse poop and urine in one of the beds. I guess the house had been empty for a little while but it was unfortunate for my daughter who was assigned to that bed with her 5 month baby who she is still nursing and needed a clean place for the baby.

We enjoyed beautiful views, a generous host and great animal friends! This was a perfect relaxing location for a family get-together. Property was better than advertised.

Great location to visit both SLO and Avila for fall apple picking. Our group had a great time at the Irish house enjoying the views and all the wildlife. Ryan was very accommodating and the kids loved playing with Bourbon and Cider.
Thanks again for a great weekend Ryan,
Cheers,
Matt
