We enjoyed this comfortable home so much! It was VERY well-stocked with all the essentials, except for hair dryers. We loved the deck and gazebo, where we listened to the river swiftly flowing over the rocks. The views are gorgeous! Highly recommend!

The house is located just feet from the banks of the Salmon River in Lower Stanley. It was wonderful to fall asleep to the sound of the river!
The house had everything we needed. Furnished in 50/60s cabin style, it is comfortable and roomy.
Even without AC, the river current keeps the lower floor very cool. The upstairs warmed during the day, but opening the windows as evening began cooled it off as well.
A great place from which to enjoy everything the Sawtooths have to offer.

My family (kids age 9 & 5) stayed here for 6 days in August. Stanley was a slice of Heaven. This cabin was the perfect home base for all of the outdoor activities and a cozy spot to retreat to at night. We escaped the Texas heat and went hiking, fishing, kayaking, and even enjoyed a trip to the local fish hatchery. The cabin is just what you need, with a stunning view and outdoor space. We would definitely stay there again! Thank you for sharing your incredible property!

Lower Stanley is a great location
We were specifically looking for a private location directly on the Salmon River, and this property met our needs exactly.
The house was very spacious, very clean, and the Stanley area is a great location.
Lower Stanley is actually a small cluster of buildings about a mile or so from Stanley (pop 65) itself.
While we were there (in early October), it was very quiet. The restaurant next door was closed, and there was little traffic on the adjacent main road that runs through Lower Stanley.
We particularly enjoyed sitting out in the gazebo on a few warm-ish days, and fires in the fireplace on the chilly nights.
Like others have noted, you can't actually see the mountains from the house (because of the restaurant building next door), and barely from the gazebo, but other than that - very enjoyable.

We’d rent it again
This was an excellent property for the most part. It is literally next door to a restaurant (that was closed while we were there even though the website said it was open). So we weren’t disturbed by any noise and it would have been handy had it been open.
I’d love to see the owners trim the bushes (assuming it’s allowed) by the river bank as the view of the Salmon River was largely obstructed.
The property manager leaves a card where you can report any issues… we did experience some minor glitches that we’ll blame the prior tenants for failing to report. There were several burned out or missing light bulbs in fixtures and another issue that I shared on the card we left as well as with the property owner. So I’m confident those will be dealt with for the next renter.
The main room offered plenty of seating and the large island in the kitchen was great. The kitchen was well-stocked with plenty of plates and glasses (the glass coffee mugs are a plus with me). The place was very clean—that can be tough with cabins in mountain hiking areas.

Great location , close to many activities
We are a family of 8 with 3 couples and 2 children it should be emphasized that while there are beds for 8 , 2 of the bedrooms are accessed by a single door and you are walking through one room to enter the other bedroom. We were ok with it as we had a family of 4 to stay in those rooms but it would certainly not be ideal for 2 unrelated adult couples as no privacy. The other issue was the way the phots are presented. In the listing you have no clue that you share a drive way with a house immediately next door and there is no View of the Sawtooths unless you walk down to the river and look northeast . The exterior pictures should be more honest. They do mention the bar and grill next door but they were quiet and no issues. The house is c,ean snd welll appointed. Pleanty of towerls, space, kids games. Modern washer and drawer. We had a great week and felt the house was a rustic hone away from home.

Fun family reunion
We stayed for a family reunion with our 5 adult children. The cabin was very clean on arrival and the owners had communicated to us the procedures once we arrived. The address google map sent us to wasn’t the correct location. This could have been our error but we were able to locate the cabin from the pics online.
The layout and decor was very comfortable and welcoming. We loved the views from the master bedroom. Sitting by the windows in the morning listening to the Salmon River was a unique experience.
There was a good supply of pots and pans for cooking.
I really appreciate that the owners left enough household supplies for our week. We had purchased extra supplies of toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags before we arrived since we are used to the home only supplying one of each but this cabin was stocked with extras of everything which made it a very nice.
There isn’t a tv, which for us, wasn’t an issue but maybe in the winter or if it rained a lot it would be inconvenient but even without a tv the guys were able to get good enough WiFi to stream the basketball games.
The deck and grill were awesome. The River being so close and the meadow across the river was absolutely stunning. Great for family pics.
The only observations I had was since the two bedrooms on the main level connect making it so you enter one bedroom to get to the second. This wasn’t an issue for use since we were family but maybe it would be an issue to someone else. Also the foam top mattresses on the king size bed and queen size bed were uncomfortable to me but my husband loved it.
We loved our stay and would return.

Great getaway
The cabin was so easy to find. Coming into the house and unpacking could not have been easier. We loved the deck, the closeness to the Salmon River and the comfort of the cabin. We planned meals in and also ate out. It was comfortable and quiet, convenient location to many hiking trails and the cute town of Stanley. We wished we would have had more time here.

A disconnection vacation
The house was just as advertised, location was great, right next to the Bridge street grill, but that was never an issue. My hubby fished right from the bank of the house. Our only suggestion would be to get a couple more non-stick pans, the ones in the house have lost their non stick and it took a lot of scrubbing to get them clean. Otherwise, everything was great! There is no TV, but that didnt bother us, bring some games or a good book. We would stay here again!

Family Get-together
The house, deck and yard was a great place for our family of 9 to get-together. We ate all meals either on the deck or in the gazebo by the river. Plenty of space for the kids to play, in and out. The Salmon River is close, so we did keep a close eye on the kids while outside playing.

Location, location, location
This cabin was perfect for our 4 day getaway. We went a different direction into the mountains every day with our young girls. The location made for a great base camp. We floated the Salmon in inflatable kayaks right to the door and fished every night (successfully!). We’ll definitely be back!

Beautiful area - great location to enjoy Sawtooth National Forest and Salmon River
Family reunion everyone enjoyed fishing, hiking and biking
House was clean. Great location. Would be nice if some of bushes near river could be removed to open area up for fishing and views.
Otherwise awesome.

Had Fun! Weather was awful!
Everything was great! Unfortunately the weather was terrible. It would be a huge plus if there was a television, especially when the weather is so awful that you can’t go out and do anything. Not everyone enjoys playing games and doing puzzles. Other than that, everything was great!

Hiking in Stanley
I went to Stanley with a bunch of women to do some hiking in the Sawtooth area. This house was perfect for our needs. It had a nice kitchen and living room area with plenty of bedrooms. It isn't new or updated, but clean and well cared for. It is right on the river with a lovely gazebo in the back yard. We had a very pleasant stay.

Great Base Camp in Lower Stanley
This house worked great for us as a base for hiking in the Sawtooths. It is a very comfortable home. Our group of couples enjoyed the open floor plan where the kitchen flows through to the deck, where we enjoyed many dinners looking out on the river directly in our backyard. The view of the Sawtooths from the gazebo is breathtaking and in the other direction there is a great view of the sunrises from the gazebo or the deck. I have given the accuracy of the listing 3 stars out of 5 because I think the lead picture gives a somewhat unrealistic impression of the presence of the restaurant next door. This restaurant is mentioned in the text description so we were aware of it. However, in the lead picture you cannot see that the restaurant extends down to river's edge at two stories, with a deck on the river. The restaurant blocks the view up river from the deck or the house. Having said this, the restaurant's presence did not really interfere with our enjoyment of the deck and the deck has a lovely view of the river and the pastures in front of the foothills across the river. Overall a very good place to stay and the management team on site was responsive.

Applinace (stove) needs replacing + odd downstairs bedroom(s) configuration
Bedroom configuration great for separate upstairs bedroom, but 'ok' for 2 couples down. Note: unless you are a family with your kids using the 2nd bedroom down stairs off the queen room, privacy lacks as the two rooms are in combination to 1 exit door to main area. A little awkward with unrelated couples needing to walk through the same bedroom room area at night/morning.
I believe the owners are addressing the stove situation. I would ask first before renting as stove in current condition is useless.

Slice of Paradise
This red cabin on the river is truly charming. Great location on the Salmon with stunning views from the gazebo. Beds were comfy while the kitchen and living spaces were just big and cozy enough for all eight of us. Would come back in a heart beat!
