This was an amazing stay at 'Sleeping by the river'. The house was well decorated and appointed. My favorite place was lounging on the deck just watching and listening to the river....what I call 'happy water'. We would love to stay there again in the future! Sadly our stay in Stanley was abbreviated due to the wildfires burning near the town.

Wonderful stay! We came during a smokey period so it was a great place even if you need to be indoors. The view from the loft was amazing! There are ceiling fans, claw foot tub, condiments and other good things to have. Bed upstairs was comfortable.

In my opinion, this is the best Location in Stanley. I will definitely stay here again. more beautiful than the photos. A+++++

Relaxing on the deck with The Salmon River gently gliding by was the best. The sound of the river at night was the best white noise we have ever experienced. Close to hiking, biking, AMAZING views of the Sawtooth make this home perfect for a getaway!

This is the second year we’ve booked this cabin to enjoy 4th of July in Stanley. It is a perfect place for our family. I love falling asleep to the sound of the river out back. It’s close enough to walk to anywhere in town. I absolutely love it.

We love this cabin. We've stayed here 5+ times over the last few years and really enjoy being on the river and close to everything. It's just a short bike ride or drive to everything we want to do and is so peaceful to come back from biking, hiking, or lake activities to just relax on the deck. The cabin is equipped with all of your kitchen needs and is cozy for the whole family!

This is an amazing place! You are surrounded by nature, but you have every comfort you can think of. The cabin is beautiful all-natural wood, big claw foot tub, huge deck for yoga, BBQ, or just lounging.
The sound of the river is amazing!
At night you can see a huge sky with so many stars it takes your breath away! The Sunset is great too, it takes up the whole sky! The place is walking distance from shops and restaurants and short driving distance to fishing and hiking and hunting trails.

This cabin is amazing the pictures on the listimg are outdated they have updated the cabin overall. We have always loved stanley this was the first year at the cabin and we will be returning to it very clean had lots of accommodations as far as the stuff tbey had stocked for the bathrooms and odd and ins for kitchen use. Now the water does have the Sulphur smell and showering in it does make it seem like you are in the hotsprings but that is the smallest detail for what you get over all the only other thing that needs updated is the washer and dryer for it is old and can only wash like 4 shirts at a time if your just there a few days it wouldnt be bad. Highly recommend this place cant get any better on the Salomon river.

We loved this place, it was such a beautiful solid log cabin with everything we needed. It was so nice to lay in the lawn chairs on the deck and enjoy the river sights and sounds. The star viewing from bed was awesome. Great trails, hotsprings and the restaurants and stores of Stanley were nearby. We stayed four nights and it wasn’t long enough. So much to see and do in the area.

It was a beautiful location with the Salmon River behind the cabin. You can leave the windows open and listen to it all night!

We met up with two other couples (so 6 people total) in Stanley for the week. This cabin was perfect for us. There is one bedroom downstairs and then upstairs there is a loft with two beds. We couldn't find the second bed until we opened some closet doors (big closet) and there it was. We had a good laugh about it. Although that bed sits on the floor, my husband and I found it comfortable. We are 66 and 69 so getting out of the bed was a little more challenging than the normal beds but it wasn't bad. Just know you might put the younger people on that bed. The cabin was well stocked with towels, Toilet paper, soap, etc. The kitchen had great pans and was well stocked with those random items like spices or oil, etc. I was worried we might have road noise but in all honesty, it didn't bother us at all. The only times we heard vehicles were when the truckers used their jake brakes or a loud motorcycle went by. The wonderful sound of the flowing river may have drowned out the vehicle noise as it wasn't bothersome. Everyone in our group took walks up into Stanley and the field around Stanley. A couple of issues which I've seen mentioned that really weren't that big of a deal is know the water smells highly of Sulphur-which makes sense with all the hot springs around. While it smelled bad, my husband tried it and said it didn't taste bad but bring your own bottled water. The other thing is the pictures really don't do the cabin justice. Would definitely stay there again!

It would have helped to know the water is not drinkable and has a bad smell to it. I would have stayed someplace else.

Adorable cabin situated right beside the river. Sitting on the back deck and listening to the sounds of the river creates an amazing feeling of peace and relaxation. Watching the elk come down off the mountain each evening was just an extra perk.

We found natural hot springs not far away. We experienced a herd of elk walking up river not far from the deck. There was still alot of snow on the
ground. The cabin was warm and very comfotable. The mountains are beautiful and look forward to going again.

Visited with some friends for a few days of hiking (during the summer) and it was great. Great location in Stanley and also on the water. The upstairs bedroom has a window that you can open and listen to the river at night. The water in the cabin has a slight sulfur smell so I wouldn’t plan on drinking it. The owners were very helpful and answered all questions almost immediately.

Everything was perfect about this stay. Property was in walking distance to town (even in winter). Cabin was clean, host was thoughtful with how she stocked the kitchen and bathroom. We liked the puzzles and selection of dvds!
Would stay again!
*I do recommend bringing your own drinking water, as the sulfur smell in the water was pretty strong (at least in winter)*
Thank you for everything.

Very comfortable and relaxing property site. Happy with everything. only negative, the tap water smells like sulfur. not a big deal but pretty noticeable in the showers.

Very nice cabin. Bed was comfortable and loved looking at the stars from bed. It was super nice that coffee and drinking water was at the cabin. We had brought water and left what we didn’t use. Would stay here again!

The cabin was bigger and nicer than we expected from the online pictures and description. That said, there are really only 2 bedrooms, although there are additional sleeping areas for smaller kids. It worked very well for our family of 4. The location is great as well, near the river, and within walking distance to some shops, coffee shop, and town is a little further a way but still walkable. Overall really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.

The location of the cabin is fantastic, with a very nice deck overlooking the river in back, and view of the Sawtooth mountains in the front! The cabin was very comfortable with outstanding master bedroom with king bed on the 2nd floor. The kitchen was well stocked. Despite being near the road, it was incredibly quiet. The only downside was the "sulfur water" which required use of bottled water, but it was fine for showers and cleaning of dishes. The cabin lacked internet but we used our phone as a hotspot, and also went to the library for sending larger documents. We definitely will be back!!

The cabin was well situated and was the last structure in a row of lodges and cabins, so we felt somewhat isolated, which was good.
The main reason we went to Stanley, ID was to take pictures of the Milky Way, and we got some great ones right from our back porch.
We were right across the street from White Cloud Rafting and that was convenient for us and they were a great group of people. We were not too far from "Lower Stanley" on Route 75. That is a great twisty road with excellent views of the Salmon River and valley walls.
There were a good variety of birds on or over the river right by our cabin. Everything from Canadian Geese to barnswallows.

Deanna and her beautiful daughter made sure we had everything we needed for a relaxing and wonderful stay. The salmon river rushing by our balcony was just one highlight. The Sawtooth scenery was awesome as were the visit to Redfish and Stanley Lakes.

The property was charming and cozy for our getaway. We cracked the window in the master bedroom to hear the river while falling asleep.
The kitchen was well stocked with the essential basics. And the wrap around deck, I’m sure is amazing during the summer.
It was a bit disappointing that we weren’t permitted to use the fireplace, so be sure to read the finer details on the property. And, the water had a strong sulphuric smell. These were minor hiccups to an otherwise lovely stay

We were here for 9 days. It was cold but wonderful. The cabin is cozy when heated with the fireplace. Our hostess had everything just right! Thanks for a great get away.

Had a long family weekend enjoying the Stanley area in the off season. Perfect location and just a lovely cabin. The cabin is between the highway and the river. Enjoyed the lovely river view with the bonus of getting to listen to it lull you into a peaceful slumber each evening. Enjoyed cooking many meals in the adorable kitchen.

VRBO pictures don't do it justice: 1) there is a huge wooden deck on the side of the cabin facing the river with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and meadows (with horses and cows), and 2) the floor of the living room and kitchen was upgraded from carpet to wood-looking linoleum (looks much nicer and of course is easier to clean). The location is perfect: very short walk to Stanley but very private (no neighbors on one side and the inn on the other but it's far enough away), 2 mins walk from the sawtooth coffee company for morning coffee, and right on the Salmon river (you can hear the river when opening the windows).
There is no TV nor wireless internet so may not be for everyone, but there is cell reception so I was able to create a wifi hotspot with my phone and watch Netflix on my laptop. Great place to disconnect and enjoy the wilderness.
One minor inconvenient: some windows don't have blinds. The downstairs bedroom does have blinds (although very thin), but the upstairs "master" bedroom doesn't so be prepared to wake up early with the sun. Another small inconvenient: the downstairs bedroom gets very hot as soon as the heater is turned on (even when on minimum setting), probably because the room is quite small, and gets too cold if the heater is off. This was not a big problem though as I simply left the bedroom door open to get the heat from the living room instead.
Overall a great place to stay and the location is really magestic.

Great stay overall. Comfortably furnished including well stocked kitchen.
Negatives were an old toaster oven from the 1970’s for a toaster. A bit scary to use.
Deck needs some work that overlooks river & lounge chairs are near broken.
Charming location on the river.
Overall very comfortable furnishings for 2 couples traveling together.
