The house was very nice and incredibly well stocked. Located down a pretty road where we saw wild turkeys and deer.

We loved this spacious and lovely log cabin overlooking the river which we enjoyed with family and friends. The setting in the Berkshires is just beautiful.
The kitchen is well stocked and great for cooking.
Also Melissa is an extremely attentive and responsive host and took care of the few issues that arose immediately.
Many thanks!

Lovely little cabin in the country. Fully stocked with everything you would need for cooking and relaxing. Only exception is the word "modern" in the description. The cabin is very traditional, with lots of traditional decor items and is very much a family cabin. We had a nice stay and enjoyed our time in the area!

I surprised my wife and 2 teenage daughters with a relaxing getaway weekend with this amazing cabin in the woods.
After an easy commute from CT, we enjoyed the drive through the woods on a dirt road to the house itself. We were very happy with our choice in selecting this listing and had an amazing time!
The owner was very friendly and answered any questions we had in a timely manner. Everything that you needed was available including coffee, tea, sheets and towels, firewood, etc.
It is a short drive to both Catamount and Butternut ski resorts and there are plenty of dining options within a 15-20 minute drive.
I would highly recommend staying here.

Plenty of room for 10 (4 adults - 6 kids). Games/ puzzles/ Handmade chess/ checkerboard table will keep you busy by the fireplace.
Location - Everything is an easy 15-20 min away. Brewery/ Downtown Great Barrington/ Shops/ Outlets/ Catamount Mountain.
Owner Melissa super responsive and easy to communicate with.
Will definitely keep as option for another stay.

This was such an adorable and secluded little property. We went with children and friends to go tubing at Butternut nearby. The house was absolutely perfect for us. It has a large property, and was so cozy and rustic.
A great escape from the city, and exactly what we were looking for. The owners were lovely and the house was clean. Would absolutely recommend. We had an amazing weekend.

My family had the most amazing trip. There was 11 of us, but the house is so roomy we had plenty of space to spread out. The host is sucked with just about everything you could need for a getaway, they even had baby gates for the deck for our dogs. All in all it was an ideal house for a large family vacation.

Everything about our stay at Hill House was just as we hoped it would be. The cabin has everything you will possibly need.
While the cabin itself is secluded and quiet, there is plenty to see and do within a short drive. Be sure to read the Welcome book that Melissa has so thoughtfully left. It describes some of the local attractions along with detailed directions.
Stay here! You will be glad you did!

We were in Hillsdale for a wedding. Only there for 2 nights. The home is located down a dirt road and we arrived at night which made it a little creepy LOL. GPS brought us right to the property. Kitchen has everything you could ever need in a rental. Lots and lots of furniture which made it easy for my family and I to sit and chat in the living room. There's no plug in the upstairs bathroom so everyone needing to use a hairdryer or curling iron had to go to the downstairs bathroom. Upstairs shower head may have been a water saving device because it was really hard to remove the shampoo from your your hair. There's two downstairs bedrooms and one bedroom upstairs that has two bunkbeds, a trundle and a single bed. Every bed except the single was hard. Ceiling fan needs to be tightened as it wobbles when it's on. The family member in the downstairs bedroom below the bunkbeds heard creaking whenever we walked around the upstairs room. There's lots of notes around the property to help you with what to do when checking out. All and all it was comfortable for my family but I wished we had time to walk the grounds.

Remote but accessible location
The cabin was secluded from town centers but was accessible to many locations we wanted to be at in the Berkshires. It provided nice down time from the hustle and bustle. We enjoyed using the chiminea for s’mores, the children enjoyed the playground equipment and a short adventure hike to the green river. The frogs in the pond made for delightful friends. The location had many amenities provided which made it easy to travel. Many reminder notes posted throughout cabin. Many personal items and curios as well- important to consider if you have children. Washer and dryer worked but had some kinks to troubleshoot. Loose drawer pulls/screws noticed in a few spots and was shared with owner. May be asked to leave at noon instead of 2 pm if other guests are arriving. Great place to bond with family.

Great place to reconnect with family.
The cabin was very comfortable. We ranged in ages 2 to 86. Melissa went above and beyond to meet our needs. The area is beautiful and restful. We had the most fun at Taconic State Park.

Perfect stay for a large group of cyclists!
Photos don't do this place justice! 13 of us stayed for two nights for a nearby gravel bicycling event. Parking was easy (we had 5 cars), and bike storage was also PERFECTION with the downstairs basement! The house is well stocked with more dishes than your party could ever dream of using, clean as a whistle, and charmingly decorated. There are also nearby towns with plenty of restaurants (that stay open until 9pm on Sundays!). The host, Melissa, was very responsive and a pleasure to talk to. And of course, as a group of cyclists, I can't fail to mention the great biking roads surrounding the house -- just be wary of (or excited for) lots of elevation/climbing.
We would definitely stay here again! Thanks Melissa!

Used as home base for my daughter’s Berkshire wedding.
Was close enough to family and venue to be convenient but felt like a restful retreat from all the activities. Quiet except for the rush of the thawing Green River. Our dogs were allowed and chilly walks with them were followed by warm afternoons and evenings by the fire. Hosts very accommodating, laid back and clear communication. Thank you, Gilbert family! We’ve done the spring….tempting to book a summer and fall! Each season probably holds its own magic. Highly recommend the Gilbert Hill House.

Fantastic stay
This was exactly what we were looking for! 12 of us (adults) went for a weekend getaway to celebrate my dads 60th. This home did not disappoint. We did get snow 1 day which required us to stay put. But we were not mad because the home was so cozy it just felt right and Im actually happy it snowed. The view of the river was so pretty especially with fresh snow. They took care of the driveway with a plow so we didnt have to worry about getting stuck. The owners were so amazing answering ALL my questions before during and after my trip. Looking forward to staying again!

Amazing home and location
We spent our family Christmas in this beautiful cozy and charming log home! Plenty of space, everything we needed was there for us. Great outside areas and beautiful location! Close to everything but still far enough way. Very quiet and peaceful. The family just loved it. Would definitely stay again.

Annual girls’ weekend
Quaint, cozy property that we really enjoyed. Well-outfitted cabin with everything needed for a short or extended stay, including bedding and towels. Fun activities in the area. Mattresses need to be replaced. Great deck and working fireplace.

Fall weekend
The property was exactly what we (3 friends and families - including multiple toddlers) needed. The home was secluded enough for us to enjoy some peace and quiet but plenty to do in the area to keep the kids occupied. Everything was perfect from check-in to check-out.

Excellent respite from Florida summer!
We had a wonderful trip to this rustic cabin in the Berkshires. It is a beautiful spot - actually closer to Egremont than to "downtown" Hillsdale and very close to Great Barrington. Thanks to our host Melissa for being so helpful and available for any and all questions during our stay.

Great location!
This cabin is in a great location for the Berkshires and Hudson Valley. The property has a fair amount of privacy and the house was cozy and welcoming. We didn’t cook but there were plenty of pots and pans, etc. if we had chosen to. The kids loved that there were 2 top bunks so they both could be up high! The place could use some new mattresses and but it was fine for a couple of nights.

Charming Cabin in the Woods
We rented the cabin this winter for our family to enjoy some of the local skiing. We had such a lovely time. The house is very nicely decorated and cozy that we immediately felt right at home. Situated next to a small river and surrounded by woods we awoke to peace and quiet every morning. The fireplace was wonderful and the house had tons of supplies that we didn't need to bring much. The host Melissa was always available for any questions and was very responsive. The local towns of Hillsdale and Great Barrington were close and lovely to explore as well. We had a great time and would definitely love to come again.

This was the perfect cabin for our group- 6 adults and 6 kids. Each family had a room. To make that work, we brought an air bed. I loved that each room had large closets. The kids loved the playground area and we ended up going on a short hike around the property which we enjoyed immensely. It was nice that we could make use of their pots and pans, coffee maker, etc. There was also a dishwasher which we used daily. The property manager was proactive and was super responsive. This made our stay here so much more pleasant. My daughter can't wait to come back!

We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin that is out of the way, but close to Great Barrington. It is cozy and comfortable, with everything you need. We stayed for a week we hope to be back during the fall or winter!

Perfect winter getaway
We spent a long weekend with three families skiing at catamount and this house was so nice to come back at the end of a long ski day. The cabin is very cozy, has a large kitchen with everything you need and we could all fit together around the tables to have dinner/ breakfast. There was a bottle of wine and cookies to welcome us when we arrived and Melissa, the property manager was super communicative and responsive. We did not use the chimney as we had 5 little kids running around, but They have a very nice area around the fire place to lounge and hang out, many board games and a large collection of video tapes for the kids. The property lies secluded in a very nice setting and we loved exploring around the river and the woods. We regretted not staying for a day longer to just enjoy being there!

Annual Christmas Tree
We had a wonderful time. When we walked into the house it was home. Anything you could think of was there. There was plenty of things to keep the kids busy. Wish we could have stayed longer on Sunday but the weather was threatening to be bad, so we left early. Overall, it was a gret time.

It's very busy
This house is fine, but it is very cluttered. There were knick knacks and doo dads on every available surface. The kitchen has every tool possible (too many), but you'll likely have to give them a scrub before use as we found them to be only cleanish. We brought all of our own food but the fridge was bursting with every kind of condiment, and like 10 salad dressings. I'd honestly rather an empty fridge. There were strict rules about the toilets (they actually suggested how many squares of TP to use), and very specific requirements for check out. For the price, I wouldn't go back.

Beautiful cabin in the woods
We rented the cabin for a large group for the night and had a lovely stay. The place was spacious with a nice porch and lawn area and there were enough beds for everyone. Thomas was very responsive and helpful throughout

Quiet Hideaway
Lovely, spacious cabin tucked away in the woods. Quiet, yet close to town and area activities.
The home was well-stocked with kitchen essentials, books, games, videos, internet, and more.
It was very hot while we were there and although there were many paddle fans, it would have been nicer if the window AC units had been installed. The owner apologized about the air conditioners.
This is a great spot to just hang out with family and friends. Nice lawns and deck, plus a fire pit.
Loved the wine and cookies left for us by the owner.

Everything we wanted
Stayed with a 10 person group while visiting the Berkeshires. Cabin was large enough to accommodate all of us but still felt cozy with the fireplace, sofas, blankets, and wood furniture/decor. Location was convenient for exploring the Berkeshires and plenty of space to park multiple cars. Would stay again!

I loved this cabin! It was my 25th birthday and my friends and I had a blast. It was beautiful,
Close to Bash bish Falls, and the quaintest little town. The table extension was great for everyone to sit for family style dinner and board games. I would only recommend to bring your own bedding, and advise that one of the rooms fits 7 people. It can be cozy, but know that ahead. Overall we loved it. Would return.

Cozy, bucolic and fragrant.
This house was perfect for our weekend out of the city. About 10 of us were staying here for a wedding, and we were all very comfortable. The cookies and bottle of wine upon our arrival were an excellent touch. Thank you, Gilberts!
