About this house rental
The Country House is located about 6 miles from the Plaza in the beautiful village of Tesuque. Tucked away in the hills near the Santa Fe Opera, it is a truly unique and charming property which features two other adjacent guest houses, a converted barn with yoga studio and massage space, and small chapel. If you have a larger group and are interested in renting our other spaces concurrently, please inquire.
The Country House is our largest guest space with 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. A large portal stretches across the front of the house and provides seating and dining areas to read or enjoy an outdoor meal with views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. When you walk in the front door, you'll find a large open space which features an indoor dining area, a living room, and a kitchen that opens up into the living space. The sofa in the living room can be converted to a full sized bed (sleeps two). Through the back door of the kitchen, is another portal with table and chairs for enjoying a meal or a cup of coffee outdoors. Off of the kitchen is a small study, complete with desk and sofa, and one of two full bathrooms. Through another set of doors is a bedroom which contains a trundle bed (two twin sized beds) which can be left as a couch if additional sleeping arrangements are not required. It should be noted that this 2nd bedroom is the only interior access to the master bedroom, meaning it must be "passed through" though it has doors that can close it off as well. The bottom trundle beds is best suited for a child and the top bed though small is comfortable for most adults. From here, you'll travel down the hallway to the laundry room (full sized washer, dryer and utility sink) and finally the master bedroom and bath. A large four-post bed stands dominantly in the center of the room with plenty of space to sit as well. The ensuite bathroom features a beautiful double head shower with Spanish tile throughout. There is a door which leads to the front portal directly off the bedroom.
There is plenty of outdoor space to enjoy located around the property. Just a quick walk up a path and you'll arrive at the large lawn which surrounds a small private chapel. Settle in under the large apricot tree or relax on the hammock nearby. Across the driveway are our resident alpacas who will look on with curiosity as you are traveling around the property. The property is also home to our on-site property managers, Jeff and Lauren and their two young children.
The fireplace is not currently available for use.

Located on a beautiful peaceful property. Fantastic restaurant just down the road.

We enjoyed all the attention to details in this lovely cottage. It was warm and cozy and decorated with style. Highly recommend it if you are in Santa Fe.

Loved the property, alpacas we’re adorable and the little chapel was so sweet. Loved all the land and space to play. The house was also super cute, but a bit dusty and overly full of stuff making it feel a bit cramped. But, everything we needed was available and check in was super smooth. This place is great for kids to play outside, and only 10 minutes from downtown Santa Fe!

The location was great. The grounds were lovely. There were 3 of us - multi generational family members so the 2nd and 3rd sleeping areas were open and not a problem. If you are traveling with people that need a closed off 2nd bedroom this might not be right for you.

This property was everything advertised and so much more. Fantastic location just 5 minutes north of downtown Santa Fe. Easy access form highway. 2 restaurants within walking distance. All 4 properties very private. Well decorated and plenty of everyday items were already in stock. We will be back.

The Country House is located convenient to town yet was quiet, green and private. The kitchen was well equipped with most everything you might need. TV and stereo available but a bit difficult to navigate, could use some detailed instructions. We appreciated the covered parking and the pastoral atmosphere of the property. The alpacas were adorable. The upholstered furniture could use a bit of an update. The flowers and foliage were lovely but a bit overgrown, making the use of the handicapped ramp a bit challenging. We had a very nice visit and would consider returning.

The location was close enough to everything we wanted to do. The location was quiet and peaceful. The kitchen had some of the nicest pots and pans we have used at a Vbro. If we go back to Santa Fe we will certainly see if this house is available.

Quintessential New Mexico vibe. Our stay was quiet and leisurely. There are plenty of nooks to tuck into in the house for reading or napping. Fun to go down and visit the alpacas and to check out the property. We also took a stellar drive up Pacheco Canyon to see the aspens.

Wonderful host, property clean. Highly recommend.

The house is charming at first, but living in it requires an appreciation for overdecorating and musty antiques. There is no air conditioning, so the house is very uncomfortable in the summer as well. I’m sure it was charming when it was first put together, but that clearly has been several decades. The rugs have not been cleaned, the linens are torn, and there is an impossible number of knick knacks that catch dust. The advertised second bedroom is not servicable at all as a bedroom — you must walk through it to get to the master bedroom and the daybed/trundle is not comfortable.
We were very disappointed. The cottage needs a total update of furnishings and a really deep cleaning.

Quiet and pleasant country setting close to Santa Fe. Ours was a hiking vacation and this location was central to the hikes we planned. The Country House was very comfortable. We especially enjoyed sitting on the large covered porch every eveving.

This is a great property, perfect for our family of 5! We loved feeding the animals and swinging in the hammock. The house and property was clean and decorated well, we loved our stay!

We arrived at the property easily because Lauren gave us excellent directions. The house is charming! Just what we had hoped to find. We wanted to be outside of Santa Fe proper, so this property was ideal. We had a lovely time. The grounds are beautiful and obviously well kept.
I’d love to return some day.

Exactly what we were looking for. Comfortable, easy base to forays North and South. We wish we had booked a couple more days just to spend at the house.

We came to work on a writing project and had the pleasure of having the beautifully kept up garden all to ourselves...with the air smelling of pine resin, the temperature and breezes keeping everything cool, and everything we needed thoughtfully provided in both the kitchen and the bathrooms. It was a quiet paradise. Things that could be clearer in the description: the trestle bed's a bit broken down, so for two adult parties it might not quite work, but we were comfy after stuffing a comforter under it. And, there is road noise, but what can you do? The alpacas were charmers, and the abundant birds and butterflies, attendant bunny rabbit, darting lizards with their blue bowties...all charming. We'd like to come back! Lauren and Ash' were great and accommodating about giving a tour so we could figure out if a family reunion or retreat would work here. We'll recommend it!

Our recent stay at the Country Cottage was absolutely wonderful! The Cottage is a great little house perfect for the two of us and our adult daughter.I cannot imagine a more peaceful venue for our short vacation. The grounds were simply beautiful complete with a relaxing hammock, cute alpacas for feeding and cooing over, and a sweet little chapel for quiet reflection (what a perfect place this would be for a small wedding!). The cottage itself had multiple outdoor sitting areas that were wonderful in the cool Santa Fe air. We didn't cook any but the kitchen was very well equipped and there was a large dining table on the beautiful porch. The host was very nice and was available (on site) but was in no way intrusive.
To reiterate, I simply cannot say enough about how delightful our stay was in this lovely little cottage. Over the past few years, my husband and I have stayed in many many VRBOs and Airbnbs across the country. The Country Cottage is quite possibly our favorite! We will definitely be back!

Had a great weekend in Tesuque to attend a concert at The Opera House. The property is in a great location to the venue. We stayed in the larger unit...master is lovely and very comfortable...the single bed in the second bedroom is very small and very uncomfortable so my older son used the fold out couch which was fine. Kitchen has great amenities. Loved being able to open so many windows and let the fresh air inside. We enjoyed feeding the llamas...they loved carrots. Outdoor full patio was great to sit outside and have coffee and read. This property is very peaceful and would return again.

Our family had a wonderful recent stay in Tesuque at this unique, lovely cottage. The highlight of this property is the incredibly beautiful outdoor spaces. The expansive, lush meadow steps from the back door served as the best "back yard" imaginable for us. We spent hours there playing cards, swinging in the hammock, watching the cottontail bunnies and butterflies and literally taking time to stop and smell the roses. We loved having our daily meals facing the mountains at the table on the cottage's large front porch. Feeding the alpacas among the wildflowers by the barn was so much fun! Jeff and Lauren went above and beyond to make our stay the best it could be. We needed an escape from the city, and we certainly found it here. Thank you, and we hope to return soon!

Cute, cute place. Great outdoor space to enjoy the cool mountain air. Perfect distance from Santa Fe. Would love to visit again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Country Cottage!! The home was absolutely beautiful and we were very well taken care of. The home was very clean and well maintained, and the description was spot-on. I really appreciated Lauren's initial email informing me about the sleeping arrangements so there wouldn't be any surprises. The home was the perfect size for our party of 5, and was very quaint and cozy...we didn't want to leave! We loved walking around the area exploring and feeding the alpacas. The caretakers were always around when we needed anything, and they provided excellent service. We visited during Christmas, which was an amazing time to visit Santa Fe. Staying at the Country Cottage was the perfect way to spend the holiday. Thank you so very much for allowing us to stay...we will most definitely be back! And we will absolutely recommend this property to our family and friends!

After three months we have just returned from our second weekend visit to this treasure in quiet, verdant Tesuque. The property continues to be just as described and the hospitality of Lauren and Jeff as warm and helpful as ever. In the year ahead as we have additional opportunities to visit Santa Fe for weekend workshops and other events, we will choose this property again. It has all the comforts of home at a very reasonable price and in a convenient location.
