We had an amazing stay at Dwight’s house! The property was well-stocked with everything a typical family might need. The master bedroom was spacious and luxurious, and our teenagers absolutely loved the middle-level bunk room, complete with a couch, TV, and easy access to the game room garage.
The balconies on each level offered stunning views of the lake, which we enjoyed every day. Renting a boat was a great decision, and having the dock right there was a huge plus. We also made good use of the kayaks and canoe to explore the pristine lake. Evenings by the deck fireplace were a highlight, offering the perfect way to unwind after a day of various outdoor activities.
As for accessibility, the house is about 10-12 minutes from the main road, with somewhat steep and winding roads, but we were well-prepared thanks to other reviews. The driveway is indeed a challenge due to its steepness and a single switchback. We had an SUV and a newer sedan; while the sedan managed, it wasn’t easy, especially when it rained. Luckily, there’s a turnoff at the top of the driveway where you can park if you prefer not to navigate the driveway in the rain. I’d recommend bringing at least one SUV or truck if possible.
Overall, the house, its amenities, the lake, and nearby outdoor activities more than made up for these minor challenges. We highly recommend this home for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway!

The house was exactly as advertised! Beautiful views, clean, well stocked, and spacious! The lake was clean and not overcrowded. We enjoyed using the kayaks and the canoe to explore the lake. We would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing lake getaway!!

Every year I spend weeks, if not months, looking for the perfect place for us to stay on vacation. This was the perfect place. The house was amazing with so much space. The dock was amazing anlso, and 3 levels of porches that had the best view ever!!! My husband is a man of few words and he told me several times how great of a choice I made. The house was cozy and cute. The game room was perfect ( I won basket ball twice ) the fire pit area was unbelievable. Was nice to have the satellite as we watched several movies. The kitchen had everything we needed. Plenty of towels to use while swimming. The drive up to the home is beautiful. The drive way is not for a weak driver!!! All in all this home is definitely a 10 in my book!!! We did rent a book and spent the day on the lake which was the best way to spend a day. Lakes End Marina had the perfect boat. The staff was great and the kids spent almost all day on the tube. Probably the best vacation we’ve had and we take several a year. Highly recommend this home for the perfect vacation spot❤️

I had an absolutely incredible stay at this rental home on Lake Nantahala! The views were truly breathtaking, and waking up to the serene lake every morning was a dream come true. The amenities were top-notch, including a game room, making the entire experience even more enjoyable with kids. The private boat dock was a fantastic addition, allowing us to explore the lake at our leisure. I can't recommend this place enough - five stars all the way!

11 of us from Florida (ages 12-71; including 5 teens) spent Thanksgiving here and really enjoyed our down time. We weren’t sure that the weather would be suitable for kayaking and canoeing but it was! We enjoyed going over to the little island and just paddling around our side of the lake. The water level is way down so it is tricky and muddy to get the boats to the water edge, but it didn’t stop us. We had plenty of room to spread out and enjoyed the fireplaces and firepit too. Kitchen has everything you need, we cooked Thanksgiving dinner here for everyone. I loved sitting on the deck with my coffee in the morning. What everyone else has said is true and explained in the listing-it’s a tricky driveway and the roads in are winding. It’s not a quick trip to town so plan your trips accordingly. We did go to the Nantahala Outdoor Center and have lunch at Riversend which was really good. We also made a trip to Ingles in Andrews for groceries. For coffee drinkers, the coffee pot is a regular drip one, so bring ground not pods. That’s always my first question. The game room was fun for the teens especially with basketball, ping pong, foozeball and air hockey. It was a lovely home and we’d love to visit again in the summer and take full advantage of the lake!

Nice relaxing lake house. The house is very clean and the supplied linens and towels were so helpful. We couldn't get the main level gas fireplace to go and couldn't find any instructions for it. The canoe was nice and the dock was really great for fishing and launching from, the kayaks provided are in rough shape just avoid them and bring your own. Kitchen has everything we needed for cooking for the whole crew, only complaint was the dishwasher lower rack kept coming off track and the incessant beeping after a load drove us nuts. Would definitely visit again. Take note too this place is FAR out so know youre 30 mins from a grocery store and 45 mins from a walmart it's better to get everything before you get there and just plan on staying at the house.

Wonderful property as advertised! Can’t say enough. Great views, fireplace overlooking the water, and a game room for the kids. All the bedrooms were comfortable and the kitchen was truly well stocked. The drive in is easily discernible with the Owner’s detailed instructions and the driveway is no steeper than others we have stayed at on the lake. If you navigate with a device, have your directions loaded ahead of time because there is no cellular coverage. Just be prepared for gravel roads and a steady low gear to get up the hill. Our group loved everything about our stay and will be back!

Wonderful Retreat
My family and I loved staying at this house! It had plenty of room and a gorgeous view of the lake. It has lots of space and is so cozy. We loved hanging out on the dock, swimming, and using the kayaks. We were lucky to have a full moon while we were there and it was amazing over the lake. We also loved using the fire pit at night.

Wonderful lake home
This is our second time staying here and it is an absolutely beautiful home. We had 11 family members and it accommodated us all so well with plenty of space for everyone. The game room provided an extra amount of fun. Dwight has always been very quick at responding and is very accommodating. Highly recommend.

The house is amazing. Plenty of room. More beds than listed. Clean!! Very little cell service. WIFI worked just fine. I received text without any issues.
Kids played in the game room making lots of noise… cannot be heard upstairs.
Back to town is a bit of a drive so take your grocery’s with you. House is very well stocked so don’t worry about forgetting something.
We rented a pontoon for 3 days. Had a great time. Will book again! This is the best Vrbo property we have rented.

Fun, quiet home
Large home, well equipped on a quiet lake. Had everything we needed and the owners were generous with a few things we forgot. The game room and generator were highlights! Getting to the property was more of an adventure than we expected, but we didn’t have problems. There’s no cell service and the WiFi is slow, but you don’t need that on your mountain lake retreat!

Great property, terrific owner
We had a great time. One of the things the family needed was some off grid family fun. This property did not disappoint. The owner provided great communication. The house is beautiful and well equipped. The additional games in the garage was great for the two grand children to occupy their time when it rained. We had no problems finding the property with the instructions provided, and had no problems with the driveway. The property met or exceeded all expectations.

Clean, cozy, like home
We’d have to say that this was one of our favorite VRBO stays yet. First and foremost the house was very clean and dust free which is a pet peeve of mine. Cozy, comfortable and well stocked. It sorta felt like home. The views were amazing and the convenience of the gas fireplace was a huge plus. We really enjoyed the use of the canoe and the fire pit.....but most of all the rest and relaxation with a cup of coffee and views of the lake.

Beautiful lakeside mountain retreat
This property was beautiful. We had so much to do while at the house. The kids truly enjoyed the gameroom and hanging out on the dock. It’s tucked up in the mountains away from everything. Everything you need is there and easily accessible. The rooms are great and the beds were very comfy. Dwight answered our questions and provided useful information in advance. I would definitely recommend this lakeside retreat. Thanks for having us we will be back.

Peaceful Getaway
My parents, adult children, my husband and I enjoyed a peaceful, back-to-nature type getaway here on Nantahala Lake! The house was extremely clean(trust me, I’m a clean freak)!! The surroundings were tranquil with the sound of birds and cicadas! We loved the fact that this place isn’t commercialized! We had a small problem with internet service, but the owner was quick to work out the issue. I loved the antiques which decorated the house! I would definitely recommend this property!

We had a very nice, quiet weekend at this property. It is mostly as described and shown in the pictures. It does look like there is work being done on the lake's shoreline, and the property was not right on the shoreline at the time of our visit. The shore had actually been moved several feet away. This was not a big deal to us but we did find it interesting to watch the workers. The fireplace was great, the kitchen was great, the place was very clean. There's only one thing that I think should be heavily emphasized, and I feel like the owner does a decent job of it but it can't be overstated. Every document I received prior to check-in (house rules, etc) warned us about how to get out of the driveway and with good reason. Please let it be known that the driveway should be taken seriously. It snowed and froze over the night before we were due to leave and we were not able to get out of the driveway. The owner was very understanding and allowed us to stay past check out time until things thawed out a bit and we could try the driveway again. Also, it's not worth it to go back out once you get there. Highly recommend you get your groceries on the way in. Also, we were advised to use Waze to get to the house. We used both Waze and Google maps and still got a little confused at one of the turnoffs. From there Google maps worked just fine. This place is pretty high up the mountain, and if you're prepared for that, then go for it!

Very nice property.
One of the cleanest VRBO properties we have rented out of several. Very nice, if a little hard to get to. Owner was very responsive and easy to reach. Only item that was confusing from pictures was the number of floors. Pictures look like three when there are actually two. It made it a little hard to understand how bedrooms were divided between the two floors. Also, we did not realize the bunk bed was out in the family room. Overall, we had a great stay at this lovely house. Very comfortable and homey.

The owner warned us that it is harder to find after dark and it is very important to arrive in daylight and follow the Wayz app to get there. Do not use google maps or any other navigation devices. Wayz brings you right to it.
Bring your groceries if you can but we did have to make a trip out to the store and it was not too bad. The local grocery store is very nice and had everything if you wanted to stop on your way in.
The canoes and kayaks were a ton of fun and the lake is crystal clear. We really enjoyed the fire pit and the gas fireplace inside was so cozy.
If you are looking to go somewhere to relax and unwind and enjoy the outdoors this is definitely the place. We will be making this an annual trip from now on.

Spacious house with everything we needed. Kayaks and life jackets were great to have. Amazing views. House has a nice layout of bedrooms and kitchen/balcony. Recommend booking boat early if that is a planned activity. Check out the island and rope swing via boat or kayak.

Something for Everyone!
Before going for our weeklong stay, we had a lot of questions. The owner answered every question promptly. Considering what is happening in the world today, my daughter and I planned all of our meals, snacks and drinks. We made it all week without a grocery store run and had everything we needed to cook and store our food. We didn't lack for entertainment! Between all of our water toys and the games available in the garage, everyone was entertained. We loved gathering in the family areas and hanging out on the decks. We all loved our time at your home and hated leaving. My favorite was drinking a cup of coffee on the deck, enjoying the silent sounds of the lake, watching the clouds move over the water and the mountains.
