About this house rental
Our lakehouse has wonderful views of Lake Nantahala and features a rustic mountain décor. We offer a large kitchen, dining room, two large fully-furnished family/rec rooms and 3 full+1 half bath. We can sleep 12 comfortably. We have Frontier DSL high speed internet and satellite [DirecTV] with streaming capabilities. Lower rec room has bar area, billiard room, and 2 bedrooms (perfect for the younger family members as it has 2 bedrooms and can sleep 6). The side of the house facing the lake has 2 large covered porches and a private dock. We also have an outdoor gas griddle available. In 2020, we completed an outdoor covered pavilion [16 x 22] with a beautiful stone wood-burning fireplace. This is a perfect place for gathering and entertaining and also is equipped with a SmartTV. Firewood is available during your stay for a nominal fee.
Our two kayaks, canoe, paddleboat, two stand-up paddleboards and 8-person 30 hp pontoon boat (included in rental during Summer season [typically Memorial Day through Labor Day] and is subject to lake levels and operational availability at time of rental) are available for guest use and enjoyment. By including a boat with our home you will save ~ $1900.00 in rental fees. Please inquire for details and availability. A NC boater card will be required before pontoon rental is approved. This can be completed easily online for a nominal fee. There is also a local marina that rents pontoon boats and ski boats...weekly discounted rates are available. Please note that the pontoon boat is intended for lake cruising only and not suitable for skiing or tubing.
This is our family lake home, not a sterile rental unit. It is furnished and appointed like you would expect a home to be. The beds all have pillow top mattresses with quilted comforters. Kitchen includes plenty of dishes, cookware and utensils. Appliances: electric range, large refrigerator (plus second refrigerator downstairs), wine cooler, microwave, coffee pot and other small kitchen appliances.
Our home has a very gradual path of about 70 feet with new, wide safe steps from the dock to the basement level of the house which also lead to the new covered party deck built in 2020. Our covered lakeside pavillion with outdoor wood-burning fireplace (and smart TV) is the perfect place to gather and relax during the day (rain or shine!). We do have central heat and air but because it is located at over 3000 foot of elevation you rarely need the air conditioning at night. [More information on Lake Nantahala below]
The house is also equipped with a whole house Generac generator so there will be no interruption in power should a storm come through or power lines damaged due to fallen trees. This is an extra level of safety and security that we are happy to provide to our guests!
Trout fishing in the Nantahala River is excellent all season long for fly fishing and spin casting. The Nantahala River hosted the 2011 USA National Fly Fishing Championships and is located less than 10 minutes from our lake home. A North Carolina fishing license and Trout stamp is required. We can set you up with a licensed guide upon request. In addition, our home is located about 20 minutes from the Nantahala Outdoor Center (voted by Good Morning America and National Geographic Adventure Magazine as the #1 family vacation spot in America for vacations with a splash). https://noc.com/
When planning your Nantahala vacation, be sure to include a White Water rafting trip for the whole family down the Nantahala. Then enjoy dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Lakes End Cafe. Other local areas offering great dining choices are Franklin, Murphy and Andrews [all outlined in our FAQ page which will be sent to you upon inquiry]. The Lazy Hiker Brewery in Franklin is a fun destination with locally brewed beer and a food truck!
Hiking is a must...please explore local maps and/or inquire with the owners for more information. We are very close to Wayah Bald and Siler Bald (both part of the Appalachian Trail) which are great hiking paths with an incredible view from the top! Also check out AllTrails.com.

Diane's Lake House provided everything you could dream of for a mountain lake get away! The home is spacious, well stocked and comfortable. Easy access to the dock and watercraft were a highlight of the trip. The exceptional outdoor fire-pit provided a cozy atmosphere for gathering and playing games. Diane was so attentive to our needs during our stay and went out of her way to make sure our visit was a pleasurable experience. We will definitely stay again - we highly recommend this beautiful lake house in Nantahala! Thank you, Diane.

Our stay was better than expected. Our host, Diane, was helpful and responsive from point of reservation, to our stay, to sadly leaving this beautiful home. This was one of the cleanest homes that we have stayed in at Lake Nantahala. Diane has this property on expert quality level. We sincerely appreciate Diane's willingness to allow our family to enjoy their home. We intend to reserve this home again, next year. Anticipation is already building for us! Danford Family

Great property on the lake. Wonderful views and outdoor space to hang out day and night and any season. It would be fun in the colder months as well with outdoor fireplace and heaters. Very well appointed living spaces and well stocked kitchen. Easy and helpful communication with the owner Diane who was great. We will be back!
was great. We will be back!

This was our second time staying here and it again was perfect in every way. Diane’s home is super clean , and is fully stocked with anything you may need . The view of the lake is amazing and my family enjoyed skiing all
Week. The house is also well equipped with life vests and water toys. This was our 5th summer on lake Nantahala and this is our favorite house !!

This house is PERFECTION in every way!! I honestly can’t say enough wonderful things about it! It’s gorgeous in the photos and even better in person! We have stayed on the lake before this house is by far the best we have stayed at! If you have been to the lake you know that some houses have super steep drive ways and also many many steps down to the dock. The driveway to this house is basically flat and super easy and convenient. There are wooden steps to the dock that make for an easy an easy and accessible path, and also not so many steps like some of the other houses. The house has lake views from every floor. The dock is spacious and so beautiful. Theres is an amazing stone deck down by the dock to sit and watch the lake and relax. It’s gorgeous and so comfortable! The outdoor sitting area with the fire place is amazing! We sat and played games and roasted s’mores!
This house even has a full storage room full of every lake toy you can think of for the guests yes!
We were a family of 10 and everyone slept very comfortably l! All the beds were great! Diane is absolutely the best host! She was extremely detailed with every instruction. The house is beyond organized and everything is labeled so you know where to find everything. She was so kind and available for anything we needed!
I can’t say enough about our time at the lake! We will definitely be back to this house!

It is hard to decide which amenity was our favorite in this lovely Lake Nantahala home. The fully equipped kitchen, the covered pavilion with fireplace, and the dock access with fun pontoon were all accessible and clean. Our time fishing, paddle boarding, outdoor grilling, game playing, and s'more making was fun with family and friends. The owner, Diane, was very friendly and helpful. We are already planning our next stay.

This is our second stay at the property, and we just built upon our memories of 2023. This stay was just as wonderful as the first, and we have already booked for 2025!

We had an amazing vacation with our family (11 of us, 6 adults and 5 kids)! Beautiful home and lake, Diane is very kind and responsive. So many little touches that make the home special. Easily the cleanest house we’ve stayed in. Would love to stay again!

This was an excellent vacation home on Nantahala Lake! The week we were here was wonderful except for the rain every day except one -- but we enjoyed being able to be outdoors on the porches overlooking the lake and the pavilion with the fireplace was an amazing addition. The water was way down and the weather foggy, but we expected such this time of year. It did not dampen our spirits one bit! We enjoyed our stay despite the weather. The house is clean, the beds extremely comfortable, and the kitchen well-stocked with condiments and cookware, everything you need for a Thanksgiving Dinner for 11. The Internet connection is exceptionally good. Our teenage grandsons loved having their own space downstairs. They were on the lake in the rain with kayaks, paddleboards, and fishing poles. No fish, but that wasn’t an issue. A special thank you to our host Diane. She was so attentive and responsive to our every question. It was a wonderful week and hopefully we can have another family reunion in the future at this great spot!

This is our 4th year staying on Lake Nantahala and this was our favorite house by far! It was very clean and fully stocked with anything and everything . The outdoor addition with the fireplace was spectacular . We built a fire nearly every night . The house is very close to the lake so the views are beautiful and the walk to the water is super easy. We rented a ski boat and my 2 teenage daughters and their two friends (4 girls) had a blast all week. The bottom floor was the perfect place for them to hang without adults. Diane, the host/owner reached out to see if there was anything we needed. She was so quick to respond to anything. Very impressed with the location and amenities of this wonderful home . We are looking to reserve it again next year.

Extremely well stocked beautiful home! Exactly as advertised, and more! Our 3 generation family made memories for a lifetime. Everything you could ever want or need for an awesome vacation is here!

Excellent vacation home on Nantahala Lake! The week we were here was cool for June and we had rain everyday except one -- but we LOVED being able to be outdoors on the porches overlooking the lake and ESPECIALLY the pavilion with the fireplace and fire every night to keep the chill off. Experiencing mountain weather could not have been better. The house is clean, the beds very comfortable, and the kitchen well-stocked with condiments and cookware. There are dozens of high quality books, puzzles, and games. The Internet connection is exceptionally good. The pontoon was a special treat; the lake is absolutely beautiful, not crowded. and an excellent spot for our paddle boarders. We are looking forward to returning to this same spot next year!

Our family of twelve, comprising my wife, our four children, their spouses, and our two grandchildren, stayed at this splendid property and had a delightful and comfortable experience. It's evident that the owner takes great pride in maintaining this home. The rooms, including the bedrooms and bathrooms, are generously sized and well-kept. We had an excellent stay and would love to come back. The property offers excellent value for money, and I highly recommend it for renting.

Everything was perfect ! The views, amenities and space. Diane is honestly the best host/manager I have ever dealt with. I have rented many homes, many places. We rented several homes for our son’s wedding, at Nantahala Weddings, this home’s communication was by far the best! Do not hesitate to rent this beautiful home. And Diane actually had a personalized gift for our son and his wife. Can’t wait to rent this place again!

We spent Thanksgiving here and this place did not disappoint! This property provides so many "extras", making it feel like home. The kitchen has everything you could possibly dream of needing (we were able to cook our Thanksgiving Day meal without having to bring any of our own supplies), they provide a Blackstone!, and the pavilion was the cherry on top! Diane was an amazing host who was so attentive in making sure we had everything we needed! True southern hospitality! House was super clean and again- very well stocked with everything you could think of. We will definitely be back!!

“Wow!” That was all we could say when we walked through the front door and saw the incredible view in front of us. The great room on the main floor with its full-length balcony overlooks a 180-degree view of Lake Nantahala bordered by pristine mountains-all forest, no buildings, on the Forest Service property. Throughout each day we found ourselves soaking in the sparkling view starting with a cup of hot coffee and ending with a refreshing glass of wine. It never ceased to soothe the weary soul.
An added delight was access to the family pontoon, the perfect craft for puttering around the lake and ending up at the Lakes End restaurant. Order the hamburger! Trust me! But, even when the rain kept us off the lake, we still enjoyed lake life out on the covered pavilion in front of the outdoor fireplace. Playing cards, telling tall tales, sipping wine with the cool breezes off the lake. No complaints.
The home is perfect for large or extended families. The Sisters Three ended up each having our own floor for our families that comfortably gave each of us private spaces when we needed it and common grounds to come together for cooking, grilling, and late night tv binging.
We are already looking forward to returning to our new home away from home.

Our family had a great time during our stay! Loved new deck, fireplace, Blackstone grill, stocked kitchen supplies. Wifi signal in main house was good and having landline phone was great. Diane was a wonderful hostess, keeping in touch, attentive and responsive.

We had a wonderful week with our 4 adult children and 3 grandchildren. The view from the 2 balcony porches and the Pavilion were breathtaking. The Pavilion was a great hangout spot with couches, game table, fireplace and tv. We really enjoyed the pontoon boat and swimming from the dock. Thank you for sharing your lovely home!

This vacation was spectacular! The home was perfect in every way. Even better than the photos and description. The access to the lake could not have been better and the outdoor spaces terrific! The communication from the owner very helpful and five stars on cleanliness. Perfection!!

Perfect lakeside house.
Fabulous house on the perfect vacation setting. We swam and played from the floating dock. The house came with three kayaks, two paddle boards, a canoe, and a houseboat! Everything was in pristine shape. The best lake vacation possible. We were able to rent a ski boat from a marina on the lake. We had a ball and all the kids learned to water ski. At night the house is hooked up with multiple TV, a pool table, and an awesome out door fireplace.

Beautiful home on Lake Nantahala
This was our 4th time staying at Lake Nantahala, and we had a wonderful time as usual. The house was perfect, the view from the house is amazing, and the lake is beautiful. We are water people so having use of the pontoon boat was a necessity for us and it worked flawlessly. Another great trip to Lake Nantahala. Diane, thanks for your hospitality!

Outstanding
This is a beautiful house on the best lake in WNC in my opinion. We have stayed twice and both times it has been amazing. Diane is the super host of all super hosts! She is hyper responsive, quick to take action with any minor hiccups, and she stocks this house like it is a home. I've stayed in many places that don't have basic dishes/pans/etc. We forgot our crock pot, there were two in the house. We forgot some spices we needed for a few dishes, full spice rack at the house. The house alone is incredible but very nice to stay in a place owned by someone who takes your vacation so seriously.

Amazing Getaway
My family stayed in Diane’s lovely home while we were there for my wedding. Diane was such an amazing host. Very easy to get in contact with and very communicative if you needed anything. The house had everything you could think of! It was an amazing house to host my family and relax by the lake for the week. The lower deck with fireplace was out favorite spot to relax. The WiFi was also amazing ( if you’ve never been to Nantahala lake, cell service is pretty much non existent and WiFi can be hard to come by in some other homes). We will definitely be returning next year for another week!

Can’t say enough good about this place, every year I go, and it’s somehow a better equipped space every time. Owners are attentive and easy to work with. I’ll be back again.

Wonderful lake house.
We loved our stay! The house is very comfortable and very well equipped; there are many options for getting out on the water, with all of the necessary gear. The kitchen is also very well equipped. We particularly loved the stone patio by the water, made for a nice spot to hang out. We had one hiccup with the heating system and the owner was very responsive. I highly recommend the house. One thing to note is that one of the bedrooms is actually more like a loft area with a privacy screen.

Breathtaking
Our stay was absolutely perfect! Communication with Diane was professional, kind and timely. The property was very well maintained and beautiful. Inside the home was clean and stocked with everything you possibly need. View and surrounding nature from home was breathtaking and makes you in awe of the Creator! Roads leading to property were well maintained and had no issue arriving. Thank you Diane!! We will be back.

Winter family trip
My husband and I and children and grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We loved being on the lakeside with beautiful water and hills even in February. Our Children and grandchildren enjoyed kayaking and paddle boating. My husband and I enjoyed sitting in the sun on shore watching. The house was beautiful and comfortable with a well supplied kitchen. The pavilion with fireplace and tv was very nice. Diane was very proactive with information and always responsive to our questions. The only thing that was uncomfortable for some of us was no door on two of the bedrooms. We enjoyed the pool table but some of the pockets aren’t fastened good enough, allowing the balls to drop through. There are lots of games and books!
Thank you for a much needed vacation and family time!

Great Experience!!!
The house is beautiful and clean and has everything you need. The kitchen is well stacked, my mom specially enjoyed cooking there! The views are breathtaking, unfortunately we had bad weather and was raining most of the time but even when it rains it is beautiful. Diane is great, she answers super fast and is always available if you need her. She recommended some places and restaurants and they were great!
There are just a few things that you need to be really aware of if you are not used to places like this (like my family). The way to the house is scary the first time. Once you go out a few times you get used to it but some of my family members were so sacred that refused to leave the house until the day we checked out. If your family members are not fond of steep mountains and curvy roads they will probably would want to kill whomever rented the house (in this case me 😅).The nearest town is 35-40 minutes from the house down the same mountain road.
One small thing regarding the trash, there are 3 relatively small trash cans. Once these cans are filled you need to drop off the additional trash bagas. The drop off station is close, about 15 mins from the house and the process to drop off the trash is smooth and free of charge, very nice gentleman there that even helped us unload the trash from our car.
In general the experience was great! I hope to go back in the summertime someday, it must be amazing. Thank you Diane!!

Amazingly beautiful cabin on a lake in the mountains!!!
Our family of 7 had a fabulous time at this lake house during the week of Christmas! More than enough room for all of us, could of easily accommodate another family comfortably. The basement area has a pool table, a tv/sitting area, a kitchenette (fridge and sink), and a bedroom with 2 twin beds and a bunk bed with full size mattresses, perfect for kids or an entire family. The main floor had a great open space, and we especially loved the long sturdy dining table, fit everyone for all meals and games. Diane did an amazing job hosting, was super attentive to us, always making sure to see if we had any questions or concerns. Check in was a breeze, and she did a great job checking on us before, during and after our stay. Very warm home, and beautifully decorated for Christmas which made the occasion very memorable for the kids. Home has everything you need, kitchen was well stocked for all meals. Loved the remote feeling and quietness of the location. Saw only a few people here and there, but we really felt as if the lake and property was all to ourselves. Kids had a great time playing on the beach area by lake, had a few campfires, and the outside patio area was perfect for s’mores, has a TV, and plenty of outdoor seating, we loved it even in the chilly air. The beds were so comfortable and the bedding, throw blankets were all clean and so cozy. Would definitely come and stay here again at this property in the summer, fall, and winter/fall again the future. There’s lots of hiking trails nearby, and I was able to go running around the lake. The neighborhooring homes are all beautiful and unique, blending in with the rustic mountain beauty. A gem. Wi-Fi was perfect and my husband was able to work from the home just fine, which was better than we expected for the remoteness of the home. I would highly recommend.

Finally got my family vacation
I was very excited to find a home so close to the water with so many water toys. The house was beautiful. The kitchen was great and very well stocked. I was a bit disappointed about not being able to rent their ski boat. Diane recommended the marina which was a great experience. We actually rented different boats for a taste of all experiences. I do think they should put in advertising that the one loft bedroom is not closed by a door . I would definitely rent again and recommended to others. Overall it was a great experience. Thank you for helping us have a great family vacation!

Wonderful lakefront property
Wonderful views. Great spaces for lounging---whether it is downstairs rec room with pool table (the teens' favorite) or the fantastic covered "living room" deck with fireplace, or the stone patio and Adirondack chairs by the water. Owner was lovely to work with ---helped us arrange for her ski boat rental after our rafting plans fell through. Kitchen is super-well equipped---finally a house with enough bowls, colanders, and cups! Great lake and great house!
