About this house rental

Thanks for stopping by and welcome to The Dock House!!

The Dock House is a prime spot for family vacations. The lake and mountain panoramic views are exceptional. We are located on pristine Nantahala Lake, which is the second highest lake east of the Mississippi, and one of the cleanest man made lakes in the world. Rising 3000 feet above sea level, the Mountain topography produces mild temperatures in spring and summer. Fall follows with a spectacular display of Mother Nature’s colorful artistry - as the autumn leaves turn brilliant hues of orange, yellow, crimson and gold. Winter has its own allure – providing visitors with a secluded idyllic winter wonderland.

The Dock House was custom designed to fit it’s surroundings and might be the closest home to Nantahala Lake. The deck is a mere 10 feet from the shore line which makes for an easy walk to the oversized dock. Also, nearly every room in the house has a view of the lake, including the master shower, hot tub area and the sauna. The tile and slate selected for the bath rooms enhances the feeling of warmth and serenity that the Nantahala area is known for. The Silestone counter tops and the gourmet kitchen make meal preparation a pleasure! We have spacious decks which are perfect for sunbathing, reading, relaxing and family outdoor gatherings. Our home is also equipped with a big screen TV and pool table. ! The unique 3 master bedroom plan makes it perfect for groups of couples or families alike. The loft has a King bed and a Queen over Queen bunk bed.

The Dock House is truly a unique home. You can tell by looking at how the house blends in with the mountain side. The site was carefully selected for the optimum view and to harvest the magnificent red oaks which were milled into the extensive hardwood flooring and crafted into the beautiful hand rails in the foyer and loft. The post and beam interior was constructed from whole white oak posts and rough sawn white pine beams, which mostly came from the house site as well. The custom designed doors, kitchen cabinets and the one of a kind kitchen table were all hand made from an ancient black walnut tree that was blown down by a storm that passed through Andrews, NC in May of 2002.

The Nantahala area has a lot to offer families who want to create wonderful memories! Entertainment enthusiasts will enjoy the Mountainside Theater, located in the heart of Cherokee Indian Country. The theater is famous for its production of “Unto These Hills”, which is a live re-enactment of the story behind the Cherokee Indian historic “Trail of Tears” journey. Or, hop aboard the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad for your choice of scenic family train rides or romantic gourmet dining. The Railroad also presents a Mystery Theater dinner on select Friday nights. Sports fans will delight in nearby offerings of white water rafting, mountain biking, skiing, and hiking. If you are adventurous you must go rafting down the Nantahala River. It is one of the finest whitewater rafting rivers in the country. And, the Tsali Recreation Area is fast becoming a “Mecca” for lovers of mountain biking. Hikers of all ages will appreciate the world famous Appalachian Trial, which you can pick up with a short drive from home. You also don’t want to miss a drive up to the top of Wayah Bald, which offers stunning views for miles of the Western North Carolina landscape.

So, thanks again for letting us share a little bit about The Dock House with you. And, call or email today to make your reservation!

Michael

We loved this property. The house was perfect for 2 families, total of 9. We just loved having coffee on the deck overlooking the lake in the morning and enjoyed renting a pontoon boat and jet skis from the local marina. It’ secluded and peaceful. We definitely be back.

We had a party of 10 ranging from 16 to 78. This place had something for everyone. We brought a 21 ft boat and trailer and while the driveway was steep and daunting at first we were able to back down into the parking are and have 2 cars(mid and full size suv) at the bottom by the house with another mid way down with the trailer in the flat storage area that has plenty of storage for cars and trailer. Easiest way to the bottom is to back down so you can drive forward on your way out although I was able to spin the car at the bottom but only if there is only one car there. The great thing about this property is that it is very close to the lake. Only 27 steps to the dock which in this area is really nice. Dock is large and easy to dock. Room for 2, 20ft+ boats easy. It gets a little hot on bare feet mid day but splash some water and your are good. 3 kayaks there are a great addition. The views are spectacular from the deck, pavilion and every room. Kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to cook meals. Pavilion is cozy at night and we lit fires there or just hung out in the hot tub or couch. Main floor is great for activities and everythjng is accessible while still providing some separation between the pool table and tv area and the kitchen/dining area. Trash disposal is within a couple of miles as is the marina which is nice if you want to grab a meal, rent boats etc. can’t say enough about this place. Absolutely loved it! Thanks Mike!

We recently stayed at The Dockhouse and had a delightful experience overall. The property was beautiful, and the view was simply incredible, making our stay truly memorable. The walk to the dock was simple and we loved that. There were, however, a few areas that could use some improvement to make it perfect. We noticed a minor leak under the kitchen sink, which was a bit inconvenient. Additionally, the kitchen cabinets and the laundry room could benefit from better organization. A little more attention to cleanliness and organization would significantly enhance the overall experience. Despite these minor issues, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return next year.

This house is as nice as it looks. Well laid out and clean. Deck was wonderful for jumping off and kayak’s were provided for boating. We did loads of fishing and hiking in the area. The host was very responsive and helpful during our stay. We cooked in all week and loved the kitchen and pool table. Thank you for sharing it with us.

We absolutely loved our stay. The house is so pretty and well laid out with great amenities such as the hot tub and sauna. It really was one of our favorite vacation stays near the smokies. Property felt nice and secluded while still being within sight of other homes. The national park and the Biltmore were both ~1hr away which was perfect for us on days we wanted to get out of the house. Lovely people and lovely home! Looking forward to staying here again in the future!

I can't say enough about the amazing views from the massive deck and most rooms in the house. It was the highlight of the property. The house is family-friendly and was equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Bedrooms and family room were very comfortable. The pool table was a bonus! Nothing prepared us for the steep driveway access and many steps within the home. Our group ranged from 64-74 with some physical challenges. Not the homeowner's problem but something to be aware of. I recommend future renters confirm with the owner which amenities are operable. We experienced some disappointments. And, not all the furnishings are as pictured (most differences were positive). The rental agreement is extensive with renter obligations far beyond most rental properties.
