The location is great—walkable to everything in town—and it’s surprisingly quiet. The main floor is also great, with a lot of chairs and tables and deck space. The basement was a bit gloomy; it’d be perfect if you had a large party you wanted all together, and maybe all the kids could stay down there, but none of my friends or I wanted to. We instead used the front porch for one of the bedrooms, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable, though the front door didn’t lock. The only other thing we’d change was cleanliness; there was an old hairbrush on the floor when we checked in, hair ties on the floor in another room, and cobwebs on the inside of most windows.

Great location with very close vicinity to all of grand marais. Everything was a short walk away and the view was nice. The house was not great. I am especially not impressed given the price of this rental. Our bed was uncomfortable and the frame was very noisy. The deck and general exterior of the home is in need of a refresh, it looks like it has not been maintained for a long time. There were spider webs everywhere, bird poop and dust on the glass, chipping paint, and the deck is in need of staining. The basement is very musty and the basement bathroom and bedroom were not appealing.

The location of the cottage is wonderful. Waking up and drinking coffee on the deck while watching the boats in the harbor is priceless!! Truly restful!!

We enjoyed this home and it's proximity to downtown Grand Marais. We walked all over town and also drove to the Gunflint Trail and Grand Portage. Comfortable, clean and has a great view.

I was here for funeral services for my partner. A couple of friends came with me and we chose this cabin as it was both beautiful and close to the places we needed to be. I really enjoyed how large it was the ceilings are so high, the kitchen was very nice all the bedrooms were clean and well put together. We didn't use the fireplace but having the seating area around it inside was just lovely. As well as the deck, we did not grill anything but there was the opportunity to do so on a very nice girl. I very much like the enclosed front porch with a comfortable couches that could alternate as beds. I feel like you could probably put 12 people in this place along with the finished basement with a full bed and two couches. I did feel like it was too big for us but I know in the advertisement it says you could put about 10 people there and that is accurate. The only reason I didn't give overall five stars is because of the hot water situation. I don't know if it was just that time or if that's a current thing there but I took the first shower of the trip and after about 10 minutes the water ran cold. So my friends waited till the next day to try their hand at it with similar results. We were okay since they weren't only three of us. But I think it would be difficult if you brought 10 to 12 people up there and your shower went cold after the first person didn't even take a full shower. Other than that it's secluded, with lovely views all around. I would stay again.

House has lots of great spaces to spread out. We easily had room for 6 of us to eat together and play board games. Incredibly convenient for walking to anything in Grand Marais - we barely used our car. Kitchen was supplied with everything we could need. The basement was set up well for a teenager to have their own space.

Truth in advertising. :) Lake Superior is just outside its front door and coupled with the fact that you can walk to just about everything one does on a vacation -- shopping, eateries, breweries and the famous Lake Superior beaches. The Gunflint trail is just outside of town for a leisurely drive or exploring the backwoods on a guided fishing trip. Like to gamble? It's just 34 miles away in Grand Portage. You name it and it can be done. We had a great stay and will definitely plan a trip to come back soon. Thanks -- Kevin and Lori.
