The owners of the property could not be more kind and accommodating. They were always available and helped me make our vacation very special. Love the house in the game room! And it was very nice to have a gated community where we had our own private lake area and tubing River. highly recommend!

Our family loved the amount of space at the cabin and the game room was a huge hit. Our family enjoyed the private lake, nature trail, the waterfall, and the swimming hole all of which were inside the private gated community. We had a variety of ages of kids who were all easily entertained with swimming, fishing, kayaking, and hiking. We also loved chimney rock and the flowering bridge which were only a short drive.

This property is perfect if your looking for a place that will accommodate your whole family from sleeping and eating to even providing entertainment! We loved the gameroom especially when on one of our days it rained all day...it created great memories of my 84 year old mother playing air hockey with my 6 year old grandson! It was great to see all my grown kids unplug from their electronic devices and play pool and ping pong!
The location is excellent and convenient, the lake is beautiful and we found a gorgeous waterfall on one of the trails that the kids loved playing in.
Additionally, the property owner was not only very responsive to any and all questions that I had, but took time for a pre-stay phone call giving me lots of information about the property, how things worked and made checking in a breeze. It was very apparent that he wanted to ensure that we had a great time.
We all had an amazing week and we will definitely keep this place on our return to list...thank you!

Nine high school friends now in their 50s gathered for a long weekend here and laughed pretty much nonstop. We loved the open floor plan, as well as the large deck. Voices do carry in the house, reminding me of childhood sleepovers when we would shush whomever was giggling, but is probably worth mentioning for light sleepers. Thanks to Kim for being communicative and patient when I called with questions. Would definitely stay here again.

Our family had a wonderful week at Laurelwood. Very beautiful and comfortable place with lots of amenities. Very clean and family friendly. Enjoyed the beach at Riverbend and nearby Lake Lure. Any problems were immediately addressed by the owner. Loved it!

30 day stay
We rented Lakewood Lodge for the month of October. The layout of the house was very good for the different family members who visited. This is a rustic log home in a remote, very quiet, gated community. The internet service was excellent; and the kitchen was very well stocked. Kim, and the housekeeper, Cindy, were very responsive. We found the gravel, curvy drive from the guard gate to the house difficult for such a long visit., with many in and out trips. The stairs from the street down to the house can be difficult to navigate, especially when wet. The game room with ping pong, pool, and air hockey provided family fun, especially on rainy days. The two TV's are not Smart TV's and the channel offering on Direct TV is limited. The pictures of the house on VRBO are accurate, except that the living room furniture has been changed.

A week of relaxation!
We enjoyed a relaxing week at this spacious log cabin, with enough room for everyone in our group and all we needed in the kitchen to prepare delicious family meals. We went to the lake in the neighborhood daily, used All Trails to choose 2 different hikes in the area, and visited Asheville one day. The neighborhood is quiet, and the home is nestled in a treed area, adding to the calm. Note: the home comes with 2 sit-upon and 1 sit-in kayak and 1 canoe, and many floats. We brought our own kayaks, but there really wasn't a need. The neighborhood lake is big enough for a satisfying paddle, and deep enough to stay cool. The local grocery store is a 15 minute drive away and has everything you'll need for your stay. The owners are super helpful in answering questions and providing information to ensure an enjoyable stay. It was a great week away from day-to-day life!

Great family time
We had a wonderful, quiet week with family. Enjoyed the basement and games for the kids, deck for the parents, and accommodations. Beach area and river for tubing were fun.
Owners were readily available and helpful.

Wonderful place to visit
It rained our entire trip but with the game room and hot tub we were able to have fun. Also very close to chimney rock. And the area is very pretty.

Our Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Cabin was wonderful and stocked with every thing we needed! Conveniently located to shopping and gas. The gated community at Riverbend made us feel very safe during our stay. It snowed our last night and it was beautiful!! We would definitely recommend this cabin. Our family was very pleased! We plan on booking another stay in the summer!!

Lovely place and location but we had problems with cleaning fees
Located inside Lake Lure and next to Chimney Rock. Beautiful! Need little bit of driving to go to skiing but we loved the road trip views. Some friends got car sick from the unusual turns on the road. I usually plan trips with big groups. The only negative are the magnetic
to enter the gate, there were only one for us and we were between 3 cars coming in and out different times. We found a place to hide the magnetic in front of the gate, because at night there is no one there. The owner is super nice maybe is more a cleaning company rules.. we couldn’t find the dumpster outside before we left and seems we forgot a few items like shampoo and a water bottle. First time we had an extra cleaning fee for it. I think this area is more difficult to find nicer cleaners ?
Friends asked about this beautiful place on my social mídia and and I ended up forgetting the extra fee as a problem. It was worth it!

Amazing long weekend
This was a fantastic getaway mountain weekend experience. Loved the secluded area of the cabin, the spaciousness, and the hot tub was awesome on a cold Sunday afternoon.

Wonderful vacation get-away
Cabin is just as described and extremely clean. Communication with the owner, Kim, was excellent. We loved the game room downstairs, the hot tub, and the gas fireplace. Kitchen was well supplied with cookware so we were able to make most of our meals there. Gated community is well maintained. Ingles is an amazing grocery store with everything we needed, Chimney Rock is about 30 minutes away, and Asheville is about an hour away. We visited the Biltmore while we were there. We also hiked up the Hickory Nut trails. This is a fantastic property for a multi-generational family get-together.

Getaway
This cabin was excellent. It comfortably fit my family (9 people). It was beautiful location and private. It was a quick drive to Chimney Rock state park. Communication with the owner was quick and easy. I would stay here again.

Peaceful
We had a great time. There are 8 adults in our family. We enjoyed the boat tour of Lake Lure, golf, sixties music and wine tasting at Point Lookout Vineyards, Hendersonville, tubing on the Broad River, and swimming/floating on Mirror Lake. We didn't eat out much because of COVID but the kitchen was nice and open to the living area. We also spent a lot of time in the hot tub. It was a fun week with many great memories. It is a plus that Kim is a pet lover because our dogs are a part of our family. The hike up Chimney rock was also fun. We took the shuttle back down. We should have taken the shuttle up and hiked back down. We would definitely come back!

Family getaway
Laurelwood is a very comfortable and pleasant cabin for a getaway. Our family of 10 had plenty of room to be together or have privacy if someone wanted to take a nap or read a book. The river and lake offered opportunities for recreation and Kim provides the necessary equipment such as tubes, a canoe, kayakes and lifejackets. We enjoyed the firepit every night to unwind and share family time.

Excellent house for family gathering & fun
Enter the large open family/dining/kitchen area to view the beautiful A frame, log walls, huge deck, theres enough space for everyone! We had 7 adults and a teen. The game room kept them all occupied and the hot tub was an added bonus! (note the pool table is not level, no big deal but balls just roll into certain pockets) The house has everything you need but do bring extra toilet paper, paper towel, especially for large groups! The Riverbend communtiy has SO much to offer. We spent days tubing from the waterfall to the ole swimming hole. The house has kayaks and canoe for the lake and tons of inflatable tubes. (Note, some are deflated and the air compressor takes forever to inflate one tube.) Explore the town of Chimney Rock nearby, it is FULL of shops and views! The only store for supplies you might need is the Ingles about 15 mins drive. Riverbend is a very hilly, windy, dirt road community so keep that in mind. We were thankful to bring our dogs! But be aware this house is on a steep hill, theres no "yard" for pups, the backyard has some steep drops. My dogs enjoyed their walks around the circle and they loved hiking and swimming. Lastly, the hosts were wonderful with communication especially when concerns came up about covid and closings etc. The week was so much fun for us and our large family. We live at the beach, so must vacation to the mountains. It's a beautiful home, community and area in general.

"unplug" at this Authentic Mountain/Lake Log Cabin Getaway
We stayed for 3 weeks w/ different friends and multi-generational family members coming into town ea week. Everyone enjoyed and had a fantastic time creating lifelong memories at this authentic mountain/lake log cabin retreat where you must be willing to "unplug". Overall, the house, property and communication w/ owner, Kim, was amazing! If you need to work/stream videos, this may not be the place for you as we had spotty wi-fi & cell phone reception (Verizon & AT&T). So be willing to unplug! We understand this is the way of the mountains and loved so much - we'd like to return in the fall!
The house is spacious w/ a fantastic porch for grilling-out/s'mores night; a fun game room to keeps kids entertained; and hot tub. Supplies were provided & kitchen had everything we needed. A few unexpected items: kitchen is small w/ no pantry (difficult to stock up for multi-week stay); master closet is full of cleaning supplies & dresser drawers hard to open; can hear conversations upstairs thru logs; upstairs has lots of sleep space (sleeps 8) but shares 1 bathroom (plan accordingly); couches in family room should be replaced & decorations a bit dated. But also part of its charm!
The community is spectacular w/ the beach-picnic area at Mirror Lake, Nature Walk, waterfall, Broad River and swimming hole. We used all the owner provided items - kayaks, canoes, tubes - and owner Kim navigated through how to use. Favorites were kayaking and canoeing on Mirror Lake and tubing on the Broad River (from waterfall area to swimming hole). It is ~ 6 min drive from house to beach/lake area and so we would have to load up van & make multiple trips to get all the items down (we did not have roof racks). The drive is not for the timid (single lane, windy, gravel, deer crossings - be careful!).
Lake Lure area offered lots of things to do - favorites were Chimney Rock, the village, Burntshirt Vineyards, Canopy Ridge Ziplining, Green River Tubing & Little Bradley Falls (in Saluda (40 min away), renting pontoon boat on Lake Lure; "tour" boat with Lake Lure Boat Tours; Restaurants: Burntshirt, Lake House, La Strada, & Riverwatch.
Owner Kim was extremely helpful providing timely responses to all questions and accommodated our dogs and multiple cars that we had to register coming onto the property each week. We had no problem fitting 4 cars at the house (3 in parking area and 1 along the road).
Kim, thank you for being an incredible host!

Great mountain getaway!
We stayed here with another family - 4 adults and 5 children. There was ample room for us all (with beds to spare!), the property was very clean, and we were very comfortable. The kids really enjoyed the hot tub and game room downstairs! The cabin-y feel of the home really made it feel like a vacation.
If you need tips on something to occupy you/get you out of the house for a few hours: We found the little town of Chimney Rock about 15/20. min. from the house. It was a cute walking town (just enough/not too much with 5 kids). We popped in a few shops, the kids “mined” rocks (that was SO fun for them!), we walked down to the river and explored, took nice photos, and the kids found even more pretty rocks. For dinner we sat on the amazingly beautiful deck of a tasting room that had great wine and decent food but seriously great views (which made up for the just okay food).
There is a very long, windy and steep gravel/dirt road to get to the property. We had no issues, but I could see that being a very big issue in bad weather (ice, snow, or even a lot of rain). Also, we brought 2 vehicles, but there would be nowhere to put a 3rd. If you have more than 2 vehicles, you will need to park at the little parking lot right inside the gate and ride up with someone. Also, the kitchen needs a baking sheet :)
All in all, totally great MLK weekend with friends!

Awesome little oasis!
This was a great house to bring our big family of 12 to stay! The owner even was generous enough to allow us to bring our pups! Great location - a lot to do around and within the house. We enjoyed the 6 person hot tub and many activities nearby! We would stay again! Communication with the owner was so amazing - any issue we had was resolved within minutes and there were not many issues! Great place, highly recommend!!

Perfect Family Getaway
House was perfect for a long weekend getaway. Plenty of room for three families and the kids loved exploring outside and playing inside. The owners could not have been more helpful or friendly! Have never had such help and hospitality from an owner on VRBO. Great location! We toured both Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. Went horseback riding nearby as well! Overall an incredible weekend. Thank you so much!

Beauty, Amenities, and More
We have stayed in the Lake Lure area several times over the past ten years, and this home, and the experience it brings, is by far the best we have had. The log cabin is spacious, clean, and in a beautiful setting.
Even prior to arriving, the owner checked in with us numerous times making sure we were set and offering to answer any questions or support us when needed. When we arrived, we were so please as everything he shared would be ready, was at the home and provided to us.
We took advantage of the kayaks, tubes, and a canoe that remains at Mirror Lake. They were easy to access and made for great days of family fun during our stay. In addition to the lake, we found the waterfall and nature walk that our entire family enjoyed.
The game room was another pleasant part of the home. We spent some time playing pool, ping pong, and air hockey where lots of laughs were shared.
I would highly recommend this property if you are headed to the Chimney Rock/Lake Lure Area. It is close to all of the attractions of the area yet private, safe, and an attraction within itself! There are not many places you can stay that offer a private lake, free kayaks, tubes, canoes, and so much more!

Location
The home was a great home with lots of room and equipped with recreational things but the location was too remote. Too far from a grocery and from Lake Lure.

Family Reunion 2019
My family really enjoyed our stay. The house is absolutely beautiful and so peaceful. There was lots for the kids to do to stay entertained. We had beautiful weather during our stay so we were able to take advantage of the lake as well. I would love to be able to rent this house again in the future!!

Family Fun Cabin
This property has everything you need for a great family vacation. Very cool setting high on the mountain in gated community. The drive in is amazing!
The cabin is “lived in” so it was very comfortable. Game room offers a lot for children of all ages. Hot tub is wonderful and was ready to enjoy when we arrived. Owner is awesome!!

Family Vacation
This is in a beautiful area. We were close to Zip Lining, Lake Lure and a beautiful park. Chimney Rock is very close, and there are also many Waterfalls that were a short distance away (45 mins.-1 hour). There is a little lake just down the hill and the river, which we spent most of our time tubing down. We made some great family memories here. The owner is wonderful and explained a lot about the area. We will definitely visit there again if we are ever in the area.

Beautiful retreat in the mountains!
Beautiful secluded retreat in the mountains!
Pros: cabin is bigger than pictures make it seem! Beautiful views, spacious bedrooms and nice seating area outdoors, although lots of Carpenter bees bussing around, but didn’t bother us too much. Hot tub was a great place to relax at night after a day out. Plenty of space for our group of 6 and would be big enough for more guests if needed. Well stocked with crock pot! Had fun playing ping pong in the evening but pool table was tilted and pool sticks didn’t have tips anymore so wasn’t really functional. Enjoyed time at the little beach area overlooking Lake Lure inside the resort and was a short drive to Chimney Rock!
Cons: cabin was not very well insulated inside (I guess cause it’s a log cabin) you could hear everything from the rooms below in the upper level bedrooms. Fairly long drive up a twisty gravel road before getting to the house. Was a bit rough getting in and out of the development because of that, but we got used to driving it after a few times. The only thing that was kind of a bummer was that the kayaks and canoe are only usable if you have a vehicle that can transport them to the Lake Lure beach. It looked like there may be a place to use them on the property in the pictures from the listing, but you must transport them. Which made them unusable for us. Just something to keep in mind when booking. Overall we had a great time and would stay again! Hosts were helpful and called ahead to give instructions.
