About this house rental
Experience a piece of history in this 1928 family lodge.
Walking to downtown Lake Lure is what makes this home one of our most popular vacation rentals. You can WALK TO DOWNTOWN LAKE LURE beach, marina, park, children's playground, restaurants, and convenience store. There's a boardwalk along the water's edge that leads from the beach to the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge. It's all within WALKING DISTANCE! This home is just a few minutes' drive to Chimney Rock Village where there's more great restaurants, shops, and attractions. In the Village, you can walk by a bold rushing river or visit Chimney Rock State Park. You can fish nearby with the proper permits!
Luremont Cottage was built about the same time as the Lake Lure Dam. The home is constructed from chestnut trees, taken from where the lake is now formed. The trees were cut and milled on-site. Wormy chestnut was used throughout this 2500 square foot home.
Step back in time as you enter this spectacular lodge to an open inviting floor plan with high beamed ceilings and wood floors. The living room features sectional sofa, large side chairs, game table, and 1920's wrought iron lighting fixtures. Watch your favorite shows on the large flat screen TV with satellite cable. Yes, we have WIFI and a few Smart TVs. NOTE: THE FIREPLACE IS FROM THE 1920's AND IS NOT OPERATIONAL.
The wide plank dining room table comfortably seats ten people. Extra seating is available at the game table in the living room or at the two outside patio tables. Serving meals is easy, as the kitchen is steps away from the dining area. The kitchen also has a rear door to the outside tables and barbecue patio.
The kitchen has a balance of old charm and modern amenities. Stand at the original farm sink and enjoy winter views of the lake and gorgeous wooded views year-round. Today's conveniences include an over sized stainless-steel refrigerator freezer, electric oven / stove, dishwasher, and microwave. A full size laundry room has newer washer, dryer, and folding table.
As you explore the rest of this home, you'll immediately discover the unique floor plan. Up just five stairs from the living room is what we call the “Main Bedroom Area”. On this level you will find TWO BEDROOMS and full bathroom. The first of these two bedrooms features a KING SIZE BED, wall mounted flat screen TV, dresser, and closet. The second bedroom on this level features a QUEEN SIZE BED and wall mounted flat screen TV, dresser and closet. The full bathroom has a claw foot tub and shower.
Another short set of steps leads to the upper level. Here you'll find THREE BEDROOMS, a full bathroom, and a den. The first of three upper level bedrooms features a KING SIZE BED, seating area, flat screen TV, dresser, and closet. The second bedrooms features a QUEEN SIZE BED and tall dresser. The third bedroom has a FULL SIZE BED. The upper level full bathroom has another claw foot tub and shower. There's also a DEN with sofa, games, and a flat screen TV. In the loft hallways area are two additional TWIN BEDS that are more appropriate for kids because of the slope of the ceiling and lack of privacy. But it's great extra sleeping flexibility.
Abundant outdoor living area is what makes this house so amazing. First and foremost, there is an abundance of outdoor seating. The giant covered porch has a wicker sofa and side chairs just in case it rains. The stone patio that runs the length of the home has two sets of table and chairs for dining. A door from the kitchen leads to a wood deck with gas barbecue and more seating.
*** Lake Lure will be undergoing a drawdown starting January 1st, through the first quarter (March 31st). The lake will begin to be lowered by approximately 1 foot per day until 12 feet has been reached. Infrastructure maintenance, dredging, and dam projects will be expedited during this time frame. These efforts by the Town of Lake Lure may affect access to the lake and restrict any lake usage. The lake will likely be back up to normal levels by mid to late April. No personal watercraft will be allowed on the lake during this time. While we understand this is an inconvenience, this does allow you to enjoy the full beauty of Lake Lure in the fall and holiday season. For more information about the annual lake drawdown, please contact the Town of Lake Lure.

This has classic rustic charm with lots of big rooms and bedrooms for the family. During one of the hottest weeks in the summer, this house is always shaded by lots of trees. So we were able to sit on the porches to get fresh air.
From the porch on the weekend, we could hear live music in the afternoon from the Grill down the street, which we enjoyed. We liked being able to walk to places to eat, the beach and a good location to walk for exercise.
There are stairs to enter the house, their are about 6-7 stairs to a bathroom so definitly for the able-bodied person.
There's no Keurig
The owners were always available and checked in a few times to make sure everything was going well.
We would stay here again.

It is bigger than the pictures make it look. In a great location walking distance to the beach. Kitchen is extremely well stocked. Plenty of outside seating and nice grill. Could use a bit more light inside but that depends on feel you are looking for. Communication and responsiveness were excellent. Overall great cabin.

House was a perfect get away for our group

This cottage was perfect for our mini family vacation. I am absolutely in love with this old cottage and all its charm. It is exactly what I think a mountain/lake cottage should be. The floor plan was great, allowing our group to all be together in the large living/dining space, or outside on the deck, porch, or patio; but it also gave everyone their own private space as well. My 6 year granddaughter, after touring the house and bedrooms, promptly declared the “secret room” (the upstairs room with the full size bed) as hers. My grandkids, ages 10 months to 6 years, had so much fun with the blocks and toys provided, and we read quite a few bedtime books from the little children’s library upstairs. We used every outdoor space multiple times. On Friday and Saturday nights, we enjoyed sitting on the back deck talking while also listening to the live music floating up the hill from Lured Market. Sadly, the beach is closed this time of year, as my grandchildren would have loved to play in the sand and get their feet wet. The only slight disappointment was that the fire pit had been removed from the property, apparently needing to be repaired. We had been looking forward to an outdoor fire to make s’mores. Suggestion: a portable baby gate for the stairs, and maybe a few extra blankets for the beds as needed. You can feel the love and fun family times of old that infuse the wood of the gorgeous old cottage! I would rent again in a minute!

House is situated close to a lot of site seeing/hike trails. We visited in June, the beach was overcrowded on weekends. The sounds from the beach area are loud…the house was wonderful. Old, historic. Kitchen well stocked. Parking was tight. We enjoyed our stay.

We truly enjoyed staying in this cottage. It sleeps 12, but was extremely roomy for our party of 5 adults. We loved the old style farmers kitchen sink and the claw foot bath tubs. Although the ladies in the group are short and found it a little difficult getting into and out of the tubs.
There were several drawbacks we had for this property. One was the lack of cell service. We were in town for a wedding and had absolutely no way of communicating with other family members. No calls or texts could be made or received from the cottage. There was cell service about 2.5 miles away at Ingles grocery store. We wish that there could have been a land line in the house. My concern was if there was a medical emergency in the middle of the night, we could not call 911.
Also, the fire pit outside would not light. We called to report it and it was not repaired at the time of our departure.
And lastly, the drains in the main bathroom for the sink and bathtub were very slow to drain.
Minor issues, other than lack of cell service. We had such a great time at the cottage and visiting Lake Lure. It is a great place to stay to get away from the hustle and bustle of today's world!

Summer Vaca 2022
We loved this old house. Walking distance to the lake/beach, restaurants and ice cream. The rooms are big. Our favorite was the front porch where we gathered in the evenings playing jenga and other games, just talking or even some us had homework. We could all sit together at the large dinner table. The rooms and hallway wide enough to chase giggling grandchildren. We had a blast.

Comfortable and Cozy
We loved our stay at Luremont Cabin. The location was perfect and it had everything we needed for a family gathering. We had small children with us and it was plenty big enough. The outside areas were really fun especially the covered porch which was roomy.

This is a cute property, maybe a little too close to the beach area as we heard everything from the wedding that was taking place there. Overall nice property. As advertised.

Historic property
Excellent location. Enjoyed the charm of the historic property. Lots of great outdoor areas. Sadly we could not get the outdoor propane fire pit to work. We did enjoy using the grill though. We would stay here again.

Rustic Charm
The cabin was in a great location, we were able to see so much from the outdoor area and there were lots of sleeping options for our family. We loved the old charm of the cabin and the outdoor seating areas too. The kitchen had a very large fridge so that was a great surprise. We recommend bringing extra toilet paper since our large group ran out before the visit ended. Overall, enjoyed our stay!

Excellent Visit!
The house was perfect for our family of 12 (8 adults and 4 kids). There was plenty of space for each family to have their own room, we could eat together at the table, and the outdoor space is beautiful. We went for Thanksgiving this year, and we would certainly book this place again. The staff was excellent for any questions we had and ensuring we had all the necessary information ahead of time. I would certainly recommend this place to other people.

Lovely Lake Lure
Chose property to attend a family wedding and was pleasantly surprised by the beauty surrounding this wonderful place. Our family enjoyed our short stay. Only wish we’d had more time to explore surrounding area for it was a very rushed and a very quick trip. Hopefully, we will be able to return to this charming lodge. Booking was smooth and agents were very attentive to our needs. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Wonderful Stay by Lake Lure!
This house was PERFECT for our group of 4 adults and 2 small children. All 5 bedrooms were fantastic...3 of which had TVs and the living room was big and open. The pics don't do justice how spacious the main living space actually is. The dining table too was wonderful for a large group. The 5th bedroom upstairs is probably best suited for a young child but the other 4 are fantastic for adults. The house itself has a ton of character and charm and is indeed a short walk to the lake, the Lured Market and Grill, and the La Strada restaurant. And also a super easy one road trip into Chimney Rock that takes all of 5 minutes. The hosts were VERY responsive to anything you needed and there were no surprises at all. They do warn that the internet may be spotty at times and that is indeed true...just know that going in. With our two small kids napping during the day and going to bed early, Netflix is key to our down time and, while it didn't load while we were there at all, we still were setup just fine via the DVR on the cable setup. TIP if you care about movies: record a bunch on the DVR as soon as you arrive and you'll be all set.

Mountain high fishing getaway
Excellent property and location to the lake. Lake access was very close.

Great space
This house has a great location; it's near the beach and within walking distance of everything in Lake Lure village. It's large, with lots of room, both inside and outside, and is very clean and comfortable. The sleeping accommodations are excellent; the dining table is huge and the kitchen is very well-equipped. The laundry area is large and convenient to the kitchen area, and the deck with the grill is convenient to the kitchen as well. NOTE: Check the Lake Lure beach website or with the MrLakeLure front desk on beach openings/closings and cost. We learned to our great dismay and disappointment that the beach did not stay open until Labor Day; it closed on weekdays starting August 16. Also, if you object to very loud leaf blower noise and spraying of RoundUp, you might want to request that it not be done during your stay, or that at least you might be warned of the timing of the yard crew.

We enjoyed our weekend getaway at your property. Nice "cabin" feel type house. We had 2 couples staying here, it was great that we had our own separate areas with our own bathrooms

Spacious Cabin
The place is very cute. It's older and rustic but has central air and fans for the upstairs rooms. The kitchen is very well stocked. The rooms are big and spacious and the beds are comfy. The property managers were great, very responsive. The location is a short walk to town and a short drive to Chimney Rock. We would definitely stay there again.

Perfect weekend away
I rented this property for my boyfriends 30th birthday over the 4th of July weekend. We just moved to NC last fall, so it was fun to go to a new place in our new home state! His group of friends that he grew up with all came down to surprise him, and it was perfect! Honestly, we spent the entire time outside. The house was the perfect cabin feeling and had an amazing outdoor area! We walked down to the lake one day, checked out chimney rock (the park and the town), the flower bridge, and rented a boat! The house is so close to everything, but perfectly tucked away. You never feel over crowded by other people, but you’re a short walk from everything! We walked down to the lake to watch the fireworks on the 4th, and just had to walk back up the hill while everyone was fighting to get their cars out. I highly recommend this house to anyone with a large group! There were 9 adults in our group, and we could have fit more. Have fun making your own memories in this perfect lake cabin!

Would recommend
We enjoyed the stay. The house had alot of room to accommodate everyone. Really liked the rustic look of the house. The outdoor seating is wonderful. The only issues we had were a water leak from the upstairs bathroom shower and the HVAC unit stopped working. I'm glad we went in March so it wasn't to hot or cold. But we understand these things happen.

Perfect Cabin!
We had an amazing time at this cabin. The loft upstairs was perfect for the little ones, and the large porch, outside area, and deck was perfect for the adults! There was so much room inside and out to explore, that you didn’t really need to go anywhere to enjoy yourself. We loved the rustic feel and all of the original hardware, and the inside fireplace was perfect for the one rainy day we had. Location was also excellent, with walking distance to the lake and a few restaurants/stores. We’d definitely stay here again!

Very Rustic
If you do not like rustic, do not rent this property.
I won't say I did not like our stay, because for the price, it was fine. However, I would not rent this property again. It was too rustic for my liking.
Here are some things that I would appreciate knowing before I rented this property:
-It's a very quick walk to the Lake Lure beach and local pizza place :)
-Parking is three outside spaces on the edge of the road. There's no other space along the road. If you are unloading your trunk, you are standing in the road. (luckily the road is not very busy)
-The AC works well, but you're grateful for the box fans at the cabin to help the air move around. The battery on the thermostat was dead so we couldn't change the temperature.
-There are stairs! This place is not for senior parents/grandparents. It's only 5 or so at a time, but you can't get in the house without stairs or to a bedroom/bathroom without stairs.
-There are only clawfoot showers/tubs. See note about senior parents/grandparents.
-Every piece of furniture is old. Which can be charming, but it's also old. Everything creaks or lacks support stuffing. The stove burners did not work well and the stove is not level.
-I've seen better equipped rental kitchens but there is a coffee maker, microwave, toaster and spacious fridge.
-The cleaning company does their job because you can see where they don't. Things that you touch are clean. But don't look too closely at the lampshades or behind furniture - the brooms and dust mops don't make it to those places.
-The kids toys are a bit raggedy and well-used.
-Bring flashlights. There are lamps but the place is dark.
We had a problem getting into the property upon arrival. The code worked but the deadbolt was locked. When we called, it took a couple of minutes to explain that we were not using the code incorrectly. Fortunately, the cleaning company arrived 10 minutes later and got us inside.
