About this house rental
Far from the crowds and Condos... Far from the noise and tourist traps... There is the old Hawaii of HANA, a small community overlooking beautiful Hana Bay on the windward east end of Maui. Hana is cooled by the trade winds that blow across the Pacific and nourish us with evening showers that make this part of Maui lush and tropical.
As you travel the magical 'road to Hana' you leave the real world behind and slowly enter the land of old Hawaii, with waterfalls, majestic coastal views and jungle rain forests. By the time you arrive in Hana you will sense a slight change. You will feel a slower pace, more peaceful and quiet.
Hale Moana is a beautiful newer 2 bedroom 2 bathroom home. It is situated on 2 acres of tropical flowers, foliage and fruit trees. The home features a full kitchen with granite counters, gas stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven, Cable TV, Wireless internet, a large master bath with a walk in tile shower and separate soaking tub. Both bedrooms have a king size bed. There is a large lanai where you can enjoy the cool breeze, have an outdoor meal or simple relax and read a book.
We are located just 3 miles before the actual town of Hana, and a short drive to Waianapanapa State Park. Hale Moana is located in a safe, quite neighborhood and a short dive (7-15 min) to town and many popular attractions.
The home is perfect for couples or small families ( 4 people max). We do not allow group gatherings, parties, or animals. It is a quiet residential neighborhood and we are very respectful of our neighbors. We do have an onsite manager who is available should you have any questions or problems.
This vacation rental is fully permitted. Permit #STHA 2018/0001, SUP2 2012/0034

Our family of 5 stayed very comfortably in this house. Our two kids loved sleeping on the air mattress in our room. House was easy to get to. Host was very easy to communicate with and answered all questions quickly. House had standard kitchenware. We loved being able to use the boogie boards and extra towels!! Overall, would highly recommend and we look forward to staying there again.

The yard was beautiful, private, lots of outdoor room. Spacious interior and clean. Location is great.

Pros:
Clean and comfortable! Perfect for our small family.
Quiet and private on beautiful grounds.
Very roomy and airy with minimal tasteful decor.
Very comfy beds and bedding. Plentiful towels.
Easy to find off the Hana hwy, but not so close as to hear day tripper traffic coming in and out.
Zero bug issues!
Great communication with nice, friendly local hosts who were very quick to answer texts.
Cons:
The refrigerator.
The water/ice dispenser didn't work (but the brita and ice trays solved that! And the well water is fantastic!
The only real problem we had was the dicey refrigerator. The thermometer showed the temp dropping well below safe temps quickly in both fridge/freezer immediately after we loaded in our groceries. Rebecca was quick to respond, suggesting a reset by unplugging from power for a few minutes. Thankfully it worked but we had a bit of a stressful first night transferring our food to the freezer and monitoring it into the night until fridge was cold enough which took several hours.
That was the only minus on a big plus house for us!
We would absolutely stay again! It's a great house in Hana and it checked all our boxes.

We loved our stay at this refuge in Hana. The property was beautiful, spacious and private. We hope to return!

This lovely home is just off of the main road and is surrounded by dense plantings that provide a sense of privacy and calm. Rebecca and her team do a wonderful job maintaining the properties. This 2 BR home has vast rooms
and an equally large covered deck where we spent most of our time.

It was just what we were looking for

Absolutely wonderful location near Hana.

Nice off the grid house, everything you need except cell signal!
Hana is great, don't be afraid of the road, take it slow and its not that bad. Unfortunately we didnt realize that 95% of all food in Hana closes between 5-7, so we ended up having ramen from the grocery store! If we had planned a bit better, we would have bought take-away, or brought more groceries with us to cook in the HUGE kitchen!

Spacious, great location, comfortable, beautiful property!

You will need to climb 2 flights of stairs to enter the house. There is plenty of places to relax in these spacious rooms, and porch, all to yourself. Be careful driving a low clearance vehicle (we had a mustang convertible) as we scraped a lava rock leaving behind some metal shavings near the bamboo trees. We couldn’t find a toaster, but the toaster oven was a good substitute. We had everything else needed for a very peaceful respite. Thank you!

The grounds of the home are beautifully manicured. The underneath of the home is an eyesore, but we knew that from other reviews and expected it. Some trellis fencing could help cover it up but overall, we weren't bothered by it. The house is in a quiet neighborhood. It is close to the road and the airport, but we were not disturbed by noise.
The kitchen was well stocked, there were plenty of towels for use, the bathrooms were in good condition and the ceiling fans were wonderful because there isn't much of a breeze to cool things off.
The couches need replacing they are lumpy and uncomfortable. The front door needs a screen door and one the main sliding door needs a screen door. All of the other screens need replacing. There were either holes in them or were loose. When we arrived, I was greeted by a gecko falling into my face from inside the house. We were also immediately bit by bugs (no see ums) upon entering the house. Once properly bathed in bug spray, we didn't have any other bugs biting us. At night there were a lot of bugs in the house which brought in many, many geckos. The floors were very dirty. We typically remove our shoes but in this house our feet were black from the dirty floors.
The house is a great location, easy to get to Hana and the major sights in the area. The information from the owner for check-in was clear and made it easy to get to the house. If the shortcomings mentioned above are addressed this could be a good choice for the Hana area.

Quiet, secluded, very Hawaiian feel.
Very Clean. Loved the extra large bathroom and shower

Our only regret was not booking your home for longer than two nights - it truly was like being in paradise. The views from the long balcony are beautiful and the rain was an added bonus! I loved just listening to all of the birds surrounding us. We hope to return someday!

Such a beautiful place to stay with everything we needed for relaxing and spending time in Hana. So peaceful and beautiful. The beds were so comfortable!

Nice home in a beautiful setting. Enjoyed the birds and lush tropical vegetation.

This property felt very remote, but was close to all the things to see in Hana. We stayed here 2 nights and drove back to Kihei. It was expensive, but worth spending a little more time in Hana.

Everything was perfect for bringing the chill factor down another notch

The property itself is beautiful. The house was very nice and clean. The only issue we had is that the house was not well stocked. Very little kitchen utensils and cooking supplies. No basics except salt and pepper, which in a place this remote would be helpful. Only 1 roll each of toilet paper in the bathrooms, etc. Overall it was a nice place, but should be stocked a little more.

Beautiful and quiet area. Was easy to locate. Having a kitchen was great to prepare dishes for event on Saturday afternoon.
Phone service spotty but with wifi access was able to text. Streaming movies at nite was great.

The property was fantastic! The kitchen was HUGE and had helpful notes spread throughout. The outdoor space is great, very quiet and peaceful. We met a very friendly neighbor who gave us great recommendations of where to visit and eat. The homeowner also provides a book with stops along the road we found helpful.
I would suggest planning enough time to drive there before sunset. We stopped at safeway by the airport which worked out perfect for us. We stocked the fridge and the home had everything we needed to prep breakfast before going out on our daily adventures.
Also, the pizza at hana farms is a walk away from this house which is something you don't want to miss! We really enjoyed our time in this house. The check -in and out process was simple and contactless. I highly recommend it!

Lovely place with all the space and amenities for a group of friends and/or a family. They had a stocked kitchen, laundry and even beach chairs. It was perfect for our road to Hana adventures. For the lady that said there was no ocean view, there is one if you stand at the sink in the kitchen. You see it in the distance. The only fault I found was the lack of window coverings in the bedrooms and master bathroom. I know this house is isolated and away from the street, but when 3 women travel we still didn't feel comfortable or safe changing. Overall would stay here again!

Beautiful house tucked away in paradise. Stayed for 2 nights so we could enjoy the Road to Hana. Everything was perfect. The cable TV service had gone out due to a storm but was restored by the time we had got there. Property manager was great to check to see if everything was ok. I would book again.

It worked out really well to stay here and venture out on our full day to explore further around the island while taking a leisurely drive in and out on the Hana highway. Master bedroom/bath is especially nice.
4.8
Big sprawling house. Very luxurious. Could have used some window treatments particularly in bathroom
4.8
Two adult couples stayed here for 2 nights allowing us to visit the area before the crowds got up here. A true Hawaiian style home with very modern interior. The rear patio view of the tropical yard is a sight to relax in. Kitchen, living area and master bedroom/bath are very large with high ceilings. (After this home, staying in a typical condo on Maui will seem like a prison cell)
4.8
Overall this is a very nice property and priced nicely when compared to others.
Pros:
- clean indoors. outdoors deck could use cleaning
-spacious
-well located
-good communication with property management
Cons:
- no character. No books, magazines or games.
- Laundry is downstairs under the house and is not available every day as it is shared with the house keepers for other properties on the lot. I think it's available most days?
- It would be nice if the kitchen was better stocked but the basics are there
4.8
No view of ocean. Short drive to town. Huge sized rooms. Nice kitchen. Very helpful host letter. Easy to find.

We had a lovely stay at this property. The home is very spacious and worked out extremely well for two couples. Each with their own bedroom and bathroom. We did not cook meals in the unit because it is very close to good places to eat. The unit was very well maintained and clean. I highly recommend it.

Excellent value for money. We are part-time residents (three months per year) in Maui and often include a few days in Hana at VRBO's. Second-floor living qtrs are secure, clean, comfortable; don't be put off by first impression of underneath storage level. WiFi speed was excellent but suggest property manager prepare detailed instructions to operate TV/Cable. No BBQ facilities.
4.8
Loved it like always :)
We will be back soon!

This is a beautiful home in Hana. It was very clean and spacious and had almost everything we needed. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.

This is a wonderfully located property near to parks and restaurants and all sites you want to see around Hana. The bedrooms are across the house from one another so it’s very quiet. The temperature is perfect and the fans turn sleep into a white noise haven. The kitchen is spacious and great to use to prep food. Hope to rent again when we return!

Honestly, we couldn't have asked for a better landing spot for our two days in Hana. We spent our last two days on Maui at this welcoming home in Hana, after leaving our resort in Kaanapali, and heading to Kauai. The location was so close to everywhere we wanted to go. We had reservations at Wai'ānapanapa and it was perfect. The property was lovely and the accommodations had everything we needed. There are no curtains on the windows so that the light and fresh Hana air can filter through, so keep that in mind at night if you're modest. No A/C needed because of the high ceilings and fans. I loved every minute of our stay. Mahalo.

The house was very spacious. I missed that there was no AC but the evenings cooled down enough to make sleeping not an issue. The overall house is clean however, a deeper cleaning is overdue with the window sills, stove top, and hanging pictures.
Was able to use the washer and dryer after contacting the property manager with no issues.
4.8
Beautiful property. Spacious house. Super close to many attractions (Waianapanapa Beach, Chocolate plantation, Lava tube, heritage center, downtown Hana). One request to the property owner: please stock up kitchen with a few more basic condiments. Overall, top of my list for where to stay when visiting Hana again.
