About this house rental
If your tribe of family and friends has outgrown other vacation homes and you can't bring yourself to vote anyone off the Island - then Susan's Sand Castle III is the perfect beachhouse for groups up to 30!
Locals refer to the area as Pleasure Island (ever since the IntraCoastal Waterway was built fifty years ago). So whether your pleasure is water sports, sunning on the beach; or digging for treasure, this beach house provides the perfect place to do just that! With our subtropical climate , you can enjoy year-round fishing, golfing, cruising and more; however we don't recommend Gilligan's Three-Hour Tour!
Whether you ride the elevator or take the stairs - when you first arrive - you should really start on the top floor for the amazing view of the Gulf, which just about takes your breath away!
The Great Room, includes the Living, Dining and Kitchen areas in one enormous space on the top floor. The Living Area has plenty of comfortable seating, with a 55" curved-screen Smart Samsung TV, Blu-Ray, DVD, and Speakers. Guests are welcome to enjoy the extensive book collection, board and card games housed on the bookshelves and cabinets below.
The Kitchen has a massive Island, for meal-prep or to serve meals buffet-style. No problem to have multiple cooks in this Kitchen! Two large refrigerators are provided: one is a stainless french-door, with freezer below; and the other is located in the Utility Room. A built-in icemaker makes 35 pounds of ice a day and is a guest favorite, along with a large microwave, glass-top stove with five burners and two ovens; two full size dishwashers are also provided for your convenience. The double sink has a garbage disposal.
Every imaginable small kitchen appliance is also provided, and we have more than double what any group would need of dishes, bowls, glasses and silverware, along with serving dishes, mixing bowls, pots and pans. A spice rack is filled with a wide array of spices to complement any meal your designated chefs create.
The dining table seats 20; with seating for 4 at the Kitchen island; and another 10 can sit at the Balcony picnic table. An incredible 24" by 48" gas griddle is located on the Balcony, just off the Dining Room, for cooking pancakes, bacon, sausage, fried eggs, burgers, hot dogs and steaks!
Two King Master Suites: one on the third floor and one on the second, have direct access to the Balcony or the Deck. Both have whirlpool tubs, separate walk-in showers, and are wheelchair accessible.
Three additional King Suites are located on the second floor, and all face the Gulf, with french-door access to the immense Deck. Two Bunk Room Suites: one on the 3rd floor and the other on the 2nd, do not have outdoor access. Both have their own private bathroom with shower/tubs. Each Bunk Room sleeps up to eight children on two bunk beds, each with full size mattresses on top and bottom. The third floor Bunk Room also has a game table. Two Queen Sleeper sofas are in the Great Room for additional guests.
All bedrooms have their own flat-screen Smart TV, so feel free to stream a movie and relax.
For teens who want a place to hangout, there is a huge built-in picnic table under the house. Families will enjoy this space for charcoal grilling, craw fish boils and cooler summer breezes.
The Deck runs the full width of the beach house and has not only chaise lounge chairs, but deck chairs galore, as well as small group seating areas, so that you can retreat to your own little corner of paradise. Enjoy your coffee as you watch the sun rise to the east and a glass of wine as the sun sets to the west. Don't hold us to the dolphin's schedule - but typically you can see them swim by every day between 9 - 10 a.m. and then again between 3 - 4 p.m.
Feel free to take our deck chairs with you to the beach each day. We just ask that you bring them back each evening, as nesting Sea Turtle Mommas can get tangled up or confused when they come ashore at night. May through August - we have a professionally installed and maintained 10' X 20' Beach Canopy for guests to enjoy while playing on the beach.
The Sand Dune Walkover (Boardwalk) is magnificent and there is a sitting area halfway down with built-in benches, so you can be closer to the water at sunrise or sunset.
An interior elevator is provided for your convenience in transporting groceries and luggage, as well as for anyone with mobility challenges; however please do not allow children to use it - as it is not a toy.
A full size HE Washer and Dryer are located in the second floor Laundry Room. Towels, wash cloths, beach towels, linens, pillows and comforters are provided for no additional fee.
Two fabulous community swimming pools and two incredible tennis courts, are all within walking distance of our beach house.
If the Beach is calling your name and you long for the serenity that only Sand and Surf can bring; send us a message now to find out when your group can have your next beach adventure!
This beach house is perfect for Family Reunions; Vacations with Family/Friends; Weddings; Corporate Retreats; Girfriend Get-Aways; Guys Deep Sea Fishing Week; and more! Snowbirds are welcome to contact us about renting by the month. There is a $1,500.00 surcharge for weddings/events.
We have two other beachfront luxury homes: one located in the Morgantown sub-division and the other, three miles closer to Ft Morgan. Check out those VRBO listings at #435854 for Susan's Sand Castle I, which sleeps up to 20; and #738021, Susan's Sand Castle II, which sleeps up to 18.
May through August, Bookings must be Saturday to Saturday. Thanksgiving and Christmas Weeks have the same Saturday to Saturday Requirements. Other than that, there is a 4 night minimum, with flexibility for days of the week for Check-In.
We have so many loyal returning guests for all three of our beach houses that our Reservation Calendar fills up quickly for peak times and they often reserve "their week" years in advance, but we love to make new friends and welcome your inquiry. We do our best to respond in under an hour, but because we don't recharge on coffee alone - we do try to sleep at some point, therefore will respond to late night inquiries first thing the next morning.
We are currently accepting reservations through the end of 2021. Rates not yet set for 2022,

This is the second time we have stayed at Susan's sandcastle III and it's like coming home again. We love everything about this house! My mother who is handicapped and can't do stairs or a lot of walking can make her way around this house, inside and out, with no problems and can enjoy being with the family. The kitchen is perfect for big groups to cook and clean up is very easy. I love the fact that each bedroom has its own bathroom! The access to the beach is so easy! One of our favorite parts of the week was watching the blue Angels practice, we basically had the beach to ourselves and a private show almost every day! It was fantastic as usual!

We loved this place. It was like going to your grandmothers house if she lived at the beach. We had our family there for Thanksgiving and it was great. You can't beat the location and the house was beautiful and very well appointed. You will not be disappointed if you stay here. It had a little bit of everything for our family from ages 18 - 80. They were wonderful to work with and the communication was great. Can't recommend this place enough! STAY HERE!!!

Quiet, clean, well maintained and completely well equipped! The views were awesome. We couldn't have asked for anything more. It made our short (4 day) stay so much more relaxing to have everything we needed at our disposal. We won't look anywhere else for next year.

This was a four generation family. Our family vacation. Everyone had their own bedroom and private bathroom. The canopy at the end of the ramp was perfect. Private beach wonderful. Two dishwashers, two refrigerators, wonderful. When asked for two boosters, they were provided, two pack n plays, provided, insta pot, provided. Janie even came and took our family pictures at the beach. She was wonderful . As one of my grand son in laws said, I cannot think of anything else we could have wanted or needed. God truly provided it all.
If there was a downside, it was the community pool. It was not being maintained. We arrived one day to four lounge chairs thrown in the pool, pool not cleaned and trash everywhere. The HOA needs to oversee that and apparently is not. Not the home owner’s fault.
We were able to watch dolphins and the Blue Angels practicing.
All in all, we were truly blessed and hated to leave. Our four great grandchildren LOVED the ocean. We are truly thankful for our Lord’s provision and for the owners sharing this place and Janie was great!

What to know: this property is about 20 minutes from the bustle of Gulf Shores proper, and for us that was perfect!
Property/management: I felt it was EXACTLY as advertised. The group was professional, the manager (Janie) was easy to reach (we had one extremely small problem and she responded immediately) and communication was on point. Best of the many VRBO's I've ever rented.
The house: We had a group of 21. Ranged from 70's to pre-teens. Plenty of room to spread out! When they say they have everything; they mean it. Excellent in that regard. The house design (as others have mentioned), is a little bizarre, but that takes nothing away from the quality of stay. Fantastic.
The ONLY thing keeping me from upgrading this property from 4.9 to 5 is the mattresses. They are needing an upgrade. Not awful, but the beds can be a little creaky and it's obvious they are a little worn. This is NOT a deal breaker, and please don't read that into this review.
The beach: Perfect. Your family has an entire area to themselves. Spread out. Play cornhole, spike ball, cam jam, whatever. Lay in the sun, get out the boogie boards, etc. It's perfect. You have a HUGE area to yourselves, and it makes for a great family vacation. The beach canopy they provide is the perfect touch. The beach location is the selling point indeed.
Overall: Well worth the expense for a large family looking for a nice retreat!!

The property was amazing! We stayed here with 24 people (9 adults and 15 kids) over spring break and had a great time.
Best features:
- The layout! Each bedroom had its own bathroom and all the king suites had access to the deck. The large living area was plenty of space especially with the long table for eating/doing puzzles/playing cards/coloring.
- The beach! The beach was amazing. We all loved having access to the beach right out the back doors. The ramp looks a little long on the pictures but it was SO nice to not walk up steps to and from the beach
- The property manager! Janie was so amazing to work with. We've stayed at a number of vacation rental properties, and Janie was the best by far about responding to any issues.
- The kitchen dishes, cookware, and utensils! We cooked every single night for all 24 people. There were PLENTY of dishes and a vast array of cookware and serving dishes.
- The cleanliness/maintenance! This property was very clean and well-maintained.
- The deck! We loved all the furniture on the deck as it essentially gave you another (huge) living space.
Potential drawback:
- It's slightly awkward (but still doable!) to access the beach without going through one of the 4 master bedrooms on the 2nd floor. This was not a problem for us, but I thought I should mention it.
I *highly* recommend this house. If you are on the fence, I would rent it. You will not regret it!

This house was amazing. Beautiful and very clean. It was so roomy and every bedroom had a spacious bathroom. Loved the kitchen and the outside balconies. The property manager Janie Hambric went over and beyond her duty. She was so friendly and accommodating. We will definitely put this place as the best place we have been to yet.
Thanks Janie for everything.

This is a big house with lots of amenities on a beautiful stretch of the Gulf Coast. The property manager is fantastic and the house was clean ready for us. There is enough room to move around for a large group. Plenty of parking as well. We met from all over the US for an extended family holiday and we appreciate the hospitality shown by Susan, Janie, and their teams!

Beautiful beach location. Wonderful boardwalk from the house to sand close to water. Ice maker was a big plus. Well stocked kitchen. Very good elevator. Only negative were the worn beds on the second floor. Everyone in our family had an awesome time at our reunion.

We were at Fort Morgan last year but my hubby threw his back out right before we got to FM. Unloading and loading was a real struggle for him. When we first thought about coming back this year I knew we would need an elevator and I really wanted ocean front. Our kids and the littles all joined us to celebrate our anniversary at this home! We spent two weeks here. This house ruined me for ever staying anywhere else! The kids ended up decorating and cooking for our anniversary and we will never forget the joy we felt around that long, beautiful dining room table! Susan (the owner) answered a million and one questions the kids had before we arrived. (Yes, there’s a pack and play and a toddler bed! Both were in perfect shape for the kidlets! Janie (the property manager) was available 24/7 if needed! She is super easy to work with! The kitchen was so well stocked! We had more than we needed for our large crew!Oh, and seeing the water from all the rooms was a dream! The ocean water is still very warm and fun was had my all!Thank you thank you thank you for loaning us your home for our celebration!!❤️Ann & Kent

Amazing property!
Ms. Janie and her team were absolutely wonderful. The house was great with almost every room having an amazing view of the beach / gulf. Open living room and kitchen made it easy for everyone to gather in one room while not feeling cramped. The boardwalk and patios can not be beat.
We will be back.

Perfect handicap accessible beach house!
This property was the perfect size for our family of 21. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Lots of beach toys and games to play. I appreciated the allowance of the use of outdoor furniture on the beach and the permanent tent in the summer was appreciated.

Family vacation
We wanted to have a beach vacation somewhere not touristy and overcrowded. This house was large enough to accommodate all 15 of us with room to spare! The location was close enough to any store but far enough away to enjoy the beach all to ourselves! We will be back!

Family Vacation
What a great house for a large group. Twenty of us, ranging in ages from 55 to newborn. Plenty of space for all, either to get away or gather together. Pier/ramp led right to beach/gulf coast and views were fantastic. Sunsets and star gazing a must!!

Paradise on the Beach
This home is beautiful! It fit our family group of 17 with space to spare. The view of the beach is wonderful and the two handicap accessible rooms and the elevator made it where my entire family could come and be together. Wonderful memories were made. We spanned in ages from 1 month to 82 years young. I would love to come to this house again. :)

Perfect for a a big group!!
This home was incredible! We have 21 folks staying including 10 adults and 11 kids ages 2 to 8. Their was plenty of sleeping room with some to spare! One of our favorite features, as parents of little ones, was the direct access-no steps- down to the water! Priceless. The communication with management was also prompt when any needs arose. Would definitely recommend and we hope to be back one day!!

Great House and Location
House was exactly as advertised. Very nice, clean, well-stocked home. We do a lot of cooking, and the kitchen did not lack anything. We had plenty of room, be it sleeping, eating, or fellowship time. The access to the beach was easy and the crowds are very light in that area. Also, we used the community pool four times, and aside from once, we were the only ones at the pool. We will seek out this house the next time we stay in the area.

Great Family Vacation
What a wonderful place for our 20 family members ranging from 1 year old to 77 years young. The house is lovely and beautifully equipped for a large group. We loved the kitchen that allowed us to have five great family dinners all at one table. The beach is perfect and two swimming pools allowed the little ones to play in the water. No crowds and a wonderful canopy on the beach - you cannot ask for a better place!

50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration
The house and location provided the perfect way to gather our family and celebrate our life over the past 50 years. The house is spacious and well appointed with even the little details taken care of. Great care has been taken to help visitors feel like this was their home while they were there. Even though there were many people along the beach, we still felt like we had our own private space on the beach with lots of room to play, build sand castles, and just relax. When any questions came up regarding the house we always received an immediate answer. I can highly recommend this property for a family gathering and enjoyable stay at the beach.

Beautiful, spacious, and well-thought out beach house
This is a beautiful, spacious, well-equipped, and well planned home. As a newer home, it was in excellent condition throughout, and equipped with every amenity. Especially nice is the fact that five couples have their own king suite with direct access to a deck, full bath, and satellite TV, while the bunk rooms also had their own baths and satellite TV. Dana, the property manager, made sure our entry and exit was easy, and promptly responded to every inquiry. The direct beach access walkway with benches and a shower at midpoint was great for keeping sand out of the house. I can't recommend this property highly enough and will definitely reserve it for any future vacations in Gulf Shores

3 generations for Christmas
We had 3 generations for Christmas week in this house and it was perfect. 18 adults and room for everyone. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed and plenty of towels for showers and the beach on site. Beds were very comfortable, we did have the younger generation in the bunk rooms and they were a little tight for more than 2 adults, but we managed well!. Amazing walkway to the beach with warm water to rinse off in (bonus during cold nights!)

This beautiful house served very well for our recent ladies retreat. It is located directly on the beach, and it beautifully appointed. The property manager was very accommodating and communicated thoroughly, which is always great. Our group was overwhelmingly pleased with the experience, and we hope to go back soon!

Absolutely Breath Taking
It was one of the best trips we had. The house is bigger than the pictures show. It was like having a second home, they had everything, all you need is clothes.
The canopy on the beach was big as well, we enjoyed the beach all day.
Well worth the drive!!

Susan’s Sandcasrle III was a great home away from home for a week!
The house is in a perfect location with nice large decks to enjoy the view. It is very well cared for. I loved that they went the extra step to paint the decking, supply comfy beds and a nice big well-stocked kitchen. We also loved having the beach canopy and felt like we had the beach to ourselves. They were all very accommodating and prompt to reply to any questions or concerns. We will be back next year!

Family reunion to remember.
Our family met up at Susan's Sandcastle III for a wonderful week. The house was perfect for gathering all of our extended family. The huge table easily accommodated all of our guests. We enjoyed he decks with the amazing view. The bedrooms were comfortable and spacious. The only access to the beach and lower balcony was through the main level bedrooms which was not always convenient for guests, but we worked it out. We spent most of our time at the beach which was perfect for our young children and teenagers. We had a great experience and would love to do it all again.

Beautiful, spacious and wonderful location on the beach!
Great communication from owners and local property manager. Beautiful house, stocked with everything a large group would need for cooking. We had a family of 26 in three generations--room for joint activities and room for individuals to find some alone time. Plenty of chairs in kitchen, on decks and on beach. Lots of beach gear, games and books. Best family vacation we have had in 40 years.
