Our group of four just loved this vacation home and it's owner Michelle. The home is surrounded by the jungle and lots of Costa Rican wildlife. We loved the many different areas to relax in and around the house. The furniture was very comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped, and the beds were fantastic as well! A big bonus was the boogie boards and beach chairs available for use.
As recommended by Michelle, we hiked the trail on the property to the beautiful river. It was a great experience but it was a workout! We spent also spent a lot of time in the pool - it too was lovely.
We saw monkeys, an ant-eater, Scarlet Macaws, parrots and numerous other birds.
I highly recommend having breakfast in the little cafe on the property. Rene is a fabulous cook and she prepared a wonderful breakfast for us on our last morning.
The house is off the grid but we had no problems and always had power. The ceiling fans did a great job keeping us cool while we slept.
We just loved Casa Uvita and will definitely return!

Lovely stay with friends at a gorgeous home, which was decorated with art and furniture created by artisans from the area, making the stay especially unique. Renee did a great job hosting since Michele was out of town. Someone is always present on the property and/or available by phone. Woke up to howler monkeys every morning. Recommended if you want to be close to the beaches of Uvita but in a jungle setting.

As all the other reviewers have mentioned, this place is magical. Michele has preserved a unique space in the wild, as much of the surrounding area of Uvita continues to grow and further develop into the forest. Her space is quiet, filled with wildlife and a welcoming atmosphere for you to explore as you wish. Within the first days, we saw a sloth, toucans, howler monkeys, basilisk lizards, katydids, toads and so many beautiful birds surrounding the home.
To get there from the main road, we drove up a short hill (5+ minutes) through the trees and jungle canopy to the property (easy to find signage all along the way). Michele was there to greet us and help answer any questions as soon as we arrived -- with a platter of cookies in tow! My kids fell in love with this place immediately.
I travelled with my two children (ages 7 and 10) and mother, and we were beyond comfortable in the spacious bedrooms and beautiful porches that wrap around the property. The pool was perfect for cooling down at the end of an adventurous day.
The location of this property was also incredibly convenient if you want to stay in one place, and have lots at your fingertips. Lovely beaches, horseback riding and other excursions just 10 minutes away, and an incredible tour of the mangroves in Sierpe just 1 hour drive (highly recommend!). So much to see and do, but without needing to spend lots of time in the car to get there. There are also plenty of restaurants (all with many dietary options), bakeries, well-stocked grocery stores, banks for anything you might need during your trip.
Throughout our time, Michele was always available to help with recommendations, arranging bookings and connecting with great local guides who know the area best. Don't pass up the chance to stay here -- it was a gift to meet Michele and visit this magical place she has stewarded. Thank you for everything!

My wife and I and another older couple stayed for four nights at Casa Uvita in January. The house was beautiful and well appointed. There was plenty of room to relax and enjoy the view of the forest and ocean. The bird and animal sounds were mesmerizing and the pool was a real treat. We would recommend this house to anyone, with or without children.

Exceeded All Expectations
This breathtakingly gorgeous home and exceptional owner made our time in Uvita the best vacation we’ve ever had. Pictures do not capture the magnitude of beauty surrounding this home, nor do they convey what an amazing host Michele is. Michele made our stay extremely special and her warmth and kindness are without equal - we will miss her as much as Casa Uvita. Cannot recommend Casa Uvita enough. Our family made everlasting memories there. Pura Vida!

Best stay of our Costa Rican Adventure!!
Two families (8 of us) recently traveled to Costa Rica. We stayed in 5 places and without hesitation CASA UVITA was our favorite! All the reviews were so correct - the property manager was fabulous and helped us so much with booking great tours in the area. So glad we went with her recommendations. We all fell in love with this house within the first 15 minutes of arriving and our feeling only increased as we explored the property, hiked to the nearby river, ate at the wonderful cafe, and experienced the wildlife around the property. We saw more monkeys and parrots at this property than during many of our formal tours! We could not recommend this property more highly!

Casa Uvita is Pura Vida!
Everything about Casa Uvita was beyond our greatest expectations! The owner was fantastic! She greeted us with a plate full of warm chocolate chip cookies and nothing went downhill from that gracious touch! The house is exactly as promised and since we went at the warmest season of the year, we were worried about the lack of A/C, but not to fret. During our weeklong stay, the weather was wonderful! Warm and sunny during the day and cool at night. We never had to use the ceiling fans or blankets. It was simply very comfortable! We were awakened each day by the sounds of nature - the monkeys, toucans and all sorts of animal life were around. The pool was a big hit for us as some of our group explored nearby waterfalls , beaches and swimming holes while the older amongst us stayed home and floated the pool! The Casa Uvita staff were very accommodating and yet not invasive to our privacy at all. Overall, I can really say that this was our best family trip ever! (Except for the flat tire from a pothole on the National Highway 34 on our last day!) Thanks again to the owner for sharing Casa Uvita with our family. Pura Vida!

Nature immersion instantly!
If you ever wonder what it's like to feel a direct connection with nature, then this place is for you! Within 5 minutes you go from feeling the white sand in your feet to immerse yourself into the wilderness where the house is located. From monkeys and toucans to hummingbirds and butterflies, flora and fauna in different sizes and colors create an experience for all your senses. The house had everything we needed to have a comfortable stay, a clean pool, amazing ocean view, very close to supermarkets and restaurants (make sure you visit Scala, great atmosphere and food) and Reneé prepared breakfast for us, we loved it!

Superb
Casa Uvita is a marvelous off the grid luxury home. The house can happily accommodate either a couple like us or a group of family or friends of multi generations. There are many spaces in which to enjoy the outdoors in or out of out of the sun. The pool is very private. The view over the jungle to the Pacific is breathtaking. Sunsets are magnificent. The range of tropical
flora and fauna is immense. Before breakfast we listened to the howler monkeys and then were able to watch as many as 5 at a time as we ate our breakfast.
The Casa Uvita facility is made infinitely nicer by the presence on the property of the owner, Michelle and her staff. Michelle is a fountain of energy and information about the flora and fauna and the many, many activities possible in the Uvita area. She is quite delighted to share her knowledge. She has recently opened a breakfast cafe on property. We enjoyed breakfast there each day from the menu which included fresh fruits, just baked breads and pastries, and a full eggs and bacon meal. Conversation with Michelle, her staff, and other cafe guests was a great way to start each day.
The staff will provide massage, yoga, or various hikes if desired. Equally they are wonderful making reservations for any of the Costa Rican adventures like zip lining, paragliding, whale watching, birding, or exploring the national parks.
Casa Uvita is first rate for a restful respite from the world or as a base for adventuring or a combination of both.

Fabulous Rain forest retrear
Michelle was terrific answering all our pre-trip questions and providing perfect directions to Casa Uvita which was two kilometers up a mud road with a beautiful view overlooking the rain forest and the pacific. The howler monies arrived late every afternoon and barked us awake at dawn each day. We saw toucan, sloth, howlers and many other birds and animals on the property. Michelle arranged horseback riding, provided great breakfasts every morning and was always around to help or answer questions. This was a wonderful place for our six member three generation family to enjoy the new year. We all recommend it without reservation.

A week in paradise!
When we arrived Michelle gave us a tour of the house. It’s the only place I’ve ever stayed that brought tears to my eyes because it’s so beautiful! I was so overwhelmed. Our stay for the next five days was a dream. Listening to howler monkeys at 5:00 am, watching the monkeys in the trees, enjoying the birds, laying by the pool or our balcony. We stopped at a nearby grocery so was able to make our own breakfast and lunch. There Is a waterfall nearby Johnny can drive you to the walk through the jungle with you. It’s so worth the hike! The beaches near by are stunning. We had a car so could drive to beaches. Went to Dominical one day and enjoyed that. Michelle is a great host and lives in a house next to the rental so is there for any questions. We SO want to come back! We highly recommend this. Really is a dream place to stay.

Paradise
Not only do you have peaceful privacy but also your own pool and BBQ grill, all immersed in a beautiful rainforest, but you also have a wonderful view and a short drive to the famous “whale tail” beach. It is a birder’s paradise, and an ideal place for couples or families traveling together. It was totally worth the price and I we will be back! (We were one family of five, a friend and her son and another friend.)

Paradise in Costa Rica
Casa Uvita is true paradise. The home is beautiful, well maintained and tucked away in the mountains surrounded by jungle with an amazing view of the south pacific ocean. Every day we saw monkeys, birds, and other wildlife from one of the many outdoor living areas. The pool was a huge hit with the boys. Michele is a wonderful hostess who helped us schedule fabulous local tours to include horseback riding, fishing and kayaking. She also provided advice on different beaches and the best times to visit during our stay. Her knowledge of the local area was exceptional and extremely helpful for our daily excursions. Johnny, the caretaker at Casa Uvita, guided us one afternoon to a local waterfall and swimming hole which we had all to ourselves! If you’re looking for peaceful tranquility and blissful seclusion in Costa Rica, look no further and stay here, you will not be disappointed! Thanks Michele and Johnny for an unforgettable family vacation! It was truly hard to leave. We will be back! Pura Vida!

Beautiful, peaceful stay in Uvita
We had a wonderful stay at Casa Uvita! The house is located on a dirt road (perfect for walking), just 10 minutes from the beach and grocery stores, etc. in Uvita. The house is beautiful, well-stocked, clean, and comfortable. There are many outdoor spaces to relax and enjoy the surroundings. We spent hours in the hammocks watching the monkeys and birds, and enjoying the breeze. While we were there at the hottest time of the year, sleeping under the ceiling fans was comfortable. Michelle went above and beyond to make our stay great. In advance of the trip, she helped book excursions for us to go zip lining, waterfall repelling, and horseback riding--all were amazing. She and Johnny (the caretaker) were quick to share wildlife sightings with us. Johnny took us on a hike to waterfall swimming hole one day. While the house is spectacular, Michelle's hospitality made our stay even more memorable. We can't wait to return to Costa Rica and Casa Uvita someday!

Casa Uvita was amazing!
I read all 50 plus reviews before our trip, and I have to say, they were all true. Michele was the perfect host making sure all our needs were met. She was always available and provided us with information on beaches, restaurants, birds and more. She took us on a birding hike, and her assistant, Johnny, took us to an amazing waterfall with a beautiful swimming hole beneath it. The house was clean and had everything you might need. Beds were comfy. It is truly a beautifully built very spacious home in an excellent location minutes from the beach and Uvita. All the bedrooms are very private, three with attached lovely baths. The pool, and view of the ocean from nearly every window, was fabulous. You need an all wheel drive vehicle to make the short trip up to the house. But the best thing was the wildlife... We were awakened by howler monkeys and parrots every morning by 5:30 a.m. What a thrill! And the toucans were everywhere. We saw many other species of birds, basilisk lizards, a sloth and more. Michele also hooked us up with two excursions: One a night walk and the other a birding tour followed by a good Costa Rican breakfast. Thanks to Michele for a fabulous week.

Beautiful, eco conscious home
Beautiful home overlooking Playa Uvita. The caretakers were wonderful and we really enjoyed our stay. A word of caution- The howler monkeys are not reliable alarm clocks. The one morning we were scheduled for an early birding tour at Oro Verde (highly recommended- even for nonbirders like us) - the monkeys skipped the 5 am wake up call! Really fun spot. We loved watching the wildlife and visiting just a handful of the many amazing, beautiful spots in the area. Wish we could have stayed for weeks!

Hidden Hillside Gem in Uvita
This rental was a wonderful experience for our visit to Uvita. I was admittedly a little nervous about staying in a rental that is completely off the grid. It's easy to get spoiled by on demand air conditioning, high speed internet, and all the other conveniences we are used to. It turns out that it was really a great experience and we didn't feel like we missed out on anything.
Since there are no glass windows anywhere in the house, you really get a great feel for indoor/outdoor living. Bugs were not really an issue since there were plenty of screens in the wall openings and all of the beds had screen canopies. The lack of A/C was not an issue either since there was plenty of solar battery power to operate the ceiling fans all night long. They have a great collection of dvd's for those nights where you might just want to sit and watch something on tv. Internet access is adequate, although a little on the slow side. It's kind of nice being forced to unplug when on vacation anyway, right?
The house itself is wonderful and very well built. The large rooms are all well appointed with great furniture and lots of fantastic artwork. The bathrooms are all beautiful and unique in their own way. There are lots of public gathering spaces and private areas, depending on your mood and the views from the balconies are fantastic. The private pool off the back kitchen is just the icing on the cake.
Michele was a wonderful hostess and really went above and beyond to make our stay fun. She hooked us up with local tour guides and special discounts that we probably would not have found on our own. Her staff also did a great job of daily light housekeeping and were very gracious as well.
We would highly recommend this rental for anyone staying the in the Uvita area. The location allows for easy access to all the attractions from the Osa peninsula to the awesome surfing beaches at Dominical. The house is very close to excellent options for shopping and restaurants as well. We really hit the jackpot with this find!

Superior vacation
We were an family of 9 (7 adults and 2 children) on a Christmas vacation which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Wonderfully designed home in an exquisite setting. The location allows you to take advantage of both beach and jungle environments. The jungle setting offers toucans, monkeys, sloths, iguanas, iridescent butterflies and a variety of other birds, reptiles, and insects (all of which we saw). Michele is an exceptional hostess and provides all the local insights and advice that you need. Take her advice. Recommend communicating with Michele prior to arrival should you have any questions - she responds very promptly. 4-wheel drive vehicle(s) is/are a necessity.

What a great house in the middle of the jungle! Wonderful staff always available and great wildlife. House is solar powered so one needs to be energy conscious when staying here. Thanks Michele for a great week!

Perfect tropical vacation house!!
Casa Uvita is amazing! It was the perfect spot for a family/friends vacation. The house was able to accommodate our large group for a special birthday vacation. The open air kitchen was stunning and the views from the upstairs balcony were amazing. We really enjoyed waking up with the howler monkeys every morning and sipping coffee and watching the wildlife from one of the lovely outdoor patios. There was something for everyone - hiking to the waterfall, taking a boat tour of the mangroves, surfing at the beach, ziplining, or just relaxing by the pool. Keylor and Johnny were so helpful, from arranging tours to making sure we had boogie boards and beach mats for our beach days. We even had a few meals prepared for us and they were delicious. Thanks to Michele and her crew for a perfect birthday vacation. We will definitely be back.

Absolutely beautiful!
Our family of 6 (kids ages 14, 13, 12 and 8) had the most amazing time staying at Casa Uvita. Michelle is a beautiful person that cares so much about making your stay perfect. She helped us with all of our excursions an has so much knowledge about Costa Rica and the local secrets. Her house is spotless and so comfortable. I miss taking a shower with views of the ocean and jungle. The ocean breeze was refreshing and add that with the surrounding jungle full of sloths, howler monkey's, parrots, toucans and SO MUCH MORE!!! It was so beautiful and fun for the kids. The first thing they did in the morning (5:30 am) was jump in the pool. The last thing they did before bed was jump in the pool. :) We are recommending this house to all of our friends. Out of our 3 visits to Costa Rica, Casa Uvita was hands down the best house rental yet!!

Nature Lovers Paradise
Casa Uvita is a peaceful paradise to enjoy whatever nature may come your way. A place of solitude to enjoy all that nature has to offer through sounds, animals, birds and plants.
The accommodation is incredibly clean with unique hand made furnishings.
You'll not find a better hostess then Michelle whose vibrance for nature is contagious.
A true getaway for a nature lover or anyone seeking some uninterrupted solitude.

Fantastic Villa
We stayed in Uvita in our 2nd half of our Costa Rica trip and kind of wished we came here a few days earlier so we could have spent more time. The location of Casa Uvita is perfect - far enough off the beaten path to feel very remote, but close enough to all the amenities. And you really can't beat the wildlife literally on your doorstep. Howler monkeys, white faced monkeys, sloths, toucans, parrots etc all seen in our 3 days there. Michele was a great host - gave some great info on local sights and must-dos. I would love to come back here and spend more than just 3 nights!

WE'LL BE BACK!!! TRULY AMAZING
We took our adult children down with their significant others for a great family vacation. Uvita is a beautiful place to vacation. It is not overly touristy and the locals are very friendly and helpful. The beaches here are stunning and so many to choose from. Great waves for boogie boarding, spike ball, volleyball and frisbee on the sand. We surfed with a local company and they were great and generous with their instruction and time. I didn't ever feel hustled. As for Casa Uvita, we all loved it!! The house is beautiful cool and airy with doors open and screened windows it was stunning. The beds are comfortable and spacious. The kitchen is great well stocked for cooking with great views of the ocean and the pool and patio area where we spent many hours as a family together. We hiked the nearby waterfalls and each offered a different experience. The natural spring water was cool and refreshing. The wild life is amazing and everywhere around you. The best part of this vacation was that the family stayed together. Unlike when we would go to a resort and everyone goes their own direction...we all stayed and played together. Decided on which which waterfall to hike or which beach to chill on! Cards, boardgames, pool games, reading and relaxing together was a highlight. Great place for family unity! I wouldn't want to forget Michele. Michele who owns Casa Uvita lives on the property and ensures that the home is never left alone. My daughter called her Google because everything we needed to know she could help us with. She was kind and generous with her time and took us to places that our family van would not go. Showing us around and sharing her beautiful environment with us. She and Johnny kept our home and pool clean and safe daily. Thank you Michele for making our vacation amazing!!!

Beautiful and amazing solar home with wonderful views and hostess
We just left Casa Uvita and are so sad that we have to go home. It was the perfect magical home for our family's vacation. It is off the grid, and completely sustainable with solar power and springfed water. The pool is beautiful and overlooks the jungle and ocean, with howler monkeys climbing about in the trees surrounding it. The house is comfortable and clean, with a well-stocked kitchen and anything you might need. You will need to remember that this is a solar home and to use your energy wisely, but for us that just made the house more special. The owner, Michelle, was an amazing hostess and worked to make our trip memorable. She really went out of her way to make sure that we had an wonderful time. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful views, big spacious home
We enjoyed our stay at Casa Uvita. We saw a family of monkeys in the backyard and woke every morning to beautiful birds! Nice view of the ocean, very short drive to the beach. I walked up the drive from the house and got see even more views up high. The house is spacious, enough room for a family of 7, has beautiful hardword floors and kitchen opens up to the patio. My kids enjoyed the pool. Great time!
