Beautiful private LAKEFRONT Chalet on 2.8 acres on Watauga Lake. Views of lake and mountains from every part of the house. Cozy home with jetted tub and fully stocked kitchen. Walk down the steps to your secluded cove (with only one neighbor) to jump in the 3rd cleanest lake in the country! Your private cove is separated from the main lake by a private peninsula and other houses are miles away. - Watch your kids and friends swim from the porch.
-Grill out on the commercial grade gas grill listening to your tunes on the Bluetooth sound bar, while you forget your cares and make new memories!
-- Gather around the bonfire sharing stories of a day on the lake and looking at the extensive views of the water and national forest.
- Fish from the dock, or take a kayak or your boat down the nearby Elk River. Skiers and wake boarders can easily ski from the cove on some of the least trafficked parts of the lake (not that ANY part of the lake is crowded!)
Boat & paddleboard rentals are available at the local marinas, or you can use our BOAT LAUNCH RAMP to launch your own boat- tie it up to the dock, or pontoons can beach right across from the Chalet.

WHY VISIT WATAUGA LAKE?
Watauga Lake is one of the most beautiful and clean recreational lakes (3rd cleanest in the country) on the eastern seaboard. It’s located in the Cherokee National forest with 105 miles of shoreline. More than half of the lake is bordered by undeveloped national forest. Watauga lake is great for boating, jet-skiing, tubing, skiing/wakeboarding, fishing, swimming, kayaking etc.
You can easily take day trips to whitewater rafting, a local winery, hike the Appalachian trail or Roan Mountain (known for gorgeous views, rhododendron forests, and cross country skiing) or find a secluded waterfall (we’ve got maps at the chalet). Drive to the thriving college town of Boone, NC 45 minutes away (check the concert schedule!), or visit the popular Banner Elk and Blowing Rock, NC.
The summers are sunny and warm during the day with no mosquitoes (incredible, but true!), and the evenings cool off in the 60’s – making the nights extremely pleasant. Autumn brings beautiful fall colors with even better views. In the winter time, skiing is a popular option at nearby Beech Mountain. Lake Hideaway Chalet is truly a wonderland of recreational activity!

This property checks all the boxes for my family. Right on the lake, private dock with kayaks, canoe, PFDs. Great fire pit area and gas grill. It was heavenly.

We really enjoyed our stay! We explored Watauga Lake (on paddle board & kayak), explored the Blue Ridge Parkway and visited family in the nearby tri-cities area. The chalet was private, comfortable and had everything we needed.

So glad we where able to return this year. We always have such a good trip when visiting Tennessee. this is one of our favorite cabins to book! Definitely will be back next year for our yearly trip!

We spent a short weekend here and wish we could have stayed longer. The house had everything we needed to be comfortable and wonderful views of a quiet cove. Gated porch with a table and chairs was secure for dogs and flat sideyard with fire pit was perfect. Launched our boat and stored our trailer at Fish Springs marina and we’re VERY glad we didn’t bring them up to the neighborhood. Launch nearest neighborhood was
Blocked by and anchored pontoon boat most of the weekend. Dock was perfect for swimming off of and tying up the boat. Cove is deep water and quiet and calm. Would come back in a heartbeat!!

Returning guests to this house. We love the location in quiet cove. Had more family renting the house across the cove and we had a great time going back and forth to visit. Parked our pontoon boat on the dock without any issues. Thanks for letting us stay!

This property was exactly what we were looking for. We thouroughly enjoyed our laid back vacation and complete disconnect from phones etc. Never set a clock. We went whitewater rafting, hiking, and cruised the lake in a pontoon boat. I would return tomorrow.

Very comfortable beds, clean cabin, and a very beautiful view. The drive is a little scary but that maybe due to the fact that we’re from Illinois and not use to mountain driving.

Our family of 5 (13, 12 and 8) all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lake Watauga! From the views, the cozy and clean cabin, the canoe, the fire pit and in the end the fishing! We would definitely recommend staying at this cabin to any family who desires to get away and enjoy the outdoors.

Being Floridians we wanted to escape the palm trees and the sandy beach, so we booked this cabin. We made the right choice! The chalet was as described and the views were mesmerizing!
We would stay again in the near future, and would highly recommend it to friends and family!

Wonderful cabin that is perfect for a semi-remote escape. It's tucked far enough away to feel like you are away from daily life, while also being close enough for convenience.
Plenty of things to see in the nearby towns and Boone is just 30 minutes away!

We were in town to visit Sugar Hollow Retreat for a wedding. Karen was great giving us directions and tips on how to find it. A beautiful little hideaway cabin in the woods. Lake views were beautiful.

Property is right on the water, small, clean, well-appointed, and comfortable. Quiet location, cove is awesome. We went right after Christmas and had a great time hiking, kayaking on the lake in the cold, making smores, and exploring the area. Great place for families with older children, be cautious with very young children and older adults - the stairs and mountain location could be challenging. As advertise, shopping and restaurants are not close, plan ahead. Owners' communication was excellent.

Perfect for getting away from it all for a few days.

The Chalet is a wonderful getaway. It's very secluded and has beautiful views from the deck overlooking the mountains and lake. The Butler area is located 45mins-1hr from places like Bristol, Johnson City, Boone and Banner Elk. It was pretty chili when we were there so we didn't go out on the lake but look forward to visiting again in the summertime.

We had a relaxing time at this secluded stay away from busy life. We enjoyed walking the remote road that was a beautiful beginning to fall. There was wood for a fire pit overlooking the lake. The 101 steps to dock were steep but we didn’t mind the exercise. We took the canoe out in beautiful watuga lake. Blowing Rick, Gtandfather Mountain and Boone was a perfect day trip. The A frame house had everything we needed. The place was clean and the beds were comfortable. Glad we drove our truck since it was steep drive. The views were amazing.

Our only regret is not planning a full week. It was amazing!! The only missing kitchen utensil was a set of tongs for the grill but other than that I cannot think of a another thing that was missing. Thank you for offering such a beautiful place to recharge!

Spent the weekend on and around the Lake Watauga area in Tn. The chalet was the perfect place for our home base. It had all the amenities and was a very comfortable home. Picked up groceries on the way in from Boone and had everything we needed for cooking our meals for the weekend. Full kitchen and huge gas grill. I’ve got nothing but good things to say about this place. Everything was perfect!!

We had a great time, swim, cook, fish, rented a boat, visited falls, sat at fire pit, watched movies. Planning to come back next summer! Thank you Karen for such a beautiful place!

If you are looking to truly get away, this is a great spot! The owner provided excellent suggestions and set expectations well. The house is remote, but if you follow her notes, you will be fine! Everything was as promised - well stocked, very comfortable, access to kayaks and a canoe (plus a float and noodles for river lounging), lots of games and movies. Perfect place to relax and unwind.

Great for a quiet vacation away from the crowds!
We had a wonderful stay at the chalet. The house is cute and cozy and the location on the lake is wonderful. Our kids enjoyed kayaking, fishing, and swimming all week. Boating on the lake is amazing with so few people even in the middle of summer! All the information provided by the owners is very helpful and appreciated too. We did the recommended Laurel Falls hike and it was awesome!

Amazing weekend getaway on the lake!
No stone left unturned at the lakefront chalet … plenty of dishes/pots and pans for cooking, fresh sheets and towels, firewood for the fire pit, kayaks and canoe with paddles and life vests, Wi-F, and excellent communication with the host. Make sure to bring plenty of food (can grocery shop in Johnson City about 45 minutes away)for cooking and grilling because take out or dining out isn’t really an option in this rural town … and maybe rent a pontoon for a day or two because this gem has direct lake access! An hour or so drive to Banner Elk/Beech Mountain and Boone. We will definitely be back again next year for our summer trip to the mountains!
