The camp was quaint, great kitchen!
Unfortunately there was confusion & communication issues with our host not being notified that we had booked property.
We received a refund from the host for the nights we didn't stay due to propane running out. The host had intended to have camp closed up the week we had booked.

The location of King’s Kastle on Salmon Lake is excellent. The lake is wide at that point and offers great views of the sunrise, particularly from the upstairs master bedroom suite. The lake has less development than others where we have stayed in Maine. We enjoyed seeing loons, eagles, and osprey which are abundant. We went in the latter part of August when the kids’ summer camps had closed, which reduced boat traffic. The cottage is roomy and has a long list of amenities. All appliances were in good working order. The decorations and furnishings were an interesting eclectic mix. I was able to access the internet easily through the owner’s computer but could not get access for my own device. That was not an issue for me since I only required light, routine use, but it would be something to clarify in advance with the host if you are planning to really work from the cottage and need quick access to all your work files on your own PC. We would like to go back to King’s Kastle in 2024 and stay for two weeks instead of one.

The "Kastle" was great. We had an issue with the wifi which was not resolved. When you are in Maine on a beautiful lake with a family of loons, who needs electronics? Take some pots if you want to cook. Mr. King was responsive when we inquired about the Air Conditioning. There is 1 portable unit downstairs and 1 upstairs. The downstairs bedrooms were a little warm. Overall a great vacation.

Our stay was great. Kids enjoyed the water and there was plenty of lawn space to play games.

The view from the property was beautiful. The upstairs was outstanding. We loved the front porch. We ate out there often. Bedroom pillows need to be updated downstairs. The dishwasher was broken and smelly when we arrived. Watching the birds was a favorite pastime. Eveyone liked the kyaks. Thank you. We had a great week weatherwise also

The listing indicated several things that were not available or broken. There is no air conditioning, even though it was indicated as available; some windows don't open and some won't close. Beach shown in ad is gone and steps into water not safe. Outside steps into house dangerously tilted, inside stairs to second floor very steep and stair treads too narrow for a normal sized foot. No info on accessing wifi provided. Floor of house tilted and uneven (1st floor). Very musty smell in all rooms. Spider webs on inside of windows. Very damp in house. We left early and would not recommend this location for renting. Host very rude on phone - called renter a "stupid idiot" among other names. Did not offered to help - just yelled.

A great Maine vacation!

The property owner was wonderful to deal with, very responsive. The setting of the cottage was just great, with a marvelous screened porch overlooking the water. The large master BR was incomparable with marvelous panoramic sunrise views. There are two incredibly comfy leather recliners in the great room for watching the 50” TV. The dining area also has a wonderful water view.
The negatives: the cottage needs a deep cleaning and the kitchen flooring should probably be replaced. The DW didn’t work but the owner said he’s going to replace it along with the garbage disposal. There was a serious moldy smell under the sink which on rainy days with the windows shut up could be smelled on into the great room. Unfortunately we ended up leaving early because of this. If these issues were addressed, I would give this cottage five stars.

Lovely waterfront and excellent communication with host
We are in love with the sandy beach and the quiet alcove of this property. We have rented this home two years in a row and hope to do it again in the future. Ed is very prompt and extremely helpful with responding to issues.

King’s Castle
We had a wonderful stay here. The property is located on a lake which is beautiful in both morning and night. We are able to travel around to see other sites using this as our homebase. Generally the property was well-kept and had quite a few amenities. One item I would say is that it needed a general dusting, especially the ceiling fans. The owner was easy to reach in communication with him was wonderful.

Pleasant week
This is a lovely lake and the cottage was fine with a couple of issues. A canoe was advertised, but had a crack in it. This would have been a deal breaker, had we known, but the neighbors loaned us their canoe for the week.
We could never get the kitchen faucet to put out more than a trickle of water. Not sure if that was just us or if it needs to be fixed. We also had trouble getting Wifi so again, relied on the neighbors for Wifi. Other than this, it was a lovely week, good fishing, and a good vacation. Owner was very nice.

Wonderful location! Responsive Host
We loved our stay at Kind's Kastle and will come again, for sure. The house is comfortable, the front porch amazing and the shaded sandy beach cannot be beat!

Peaceful sunrise coffee on the dock
My husband, two teens and I had a lovely week at King's Kastle. The cottage is located in a quiet cove with other camps nearby. The dock and large screen porch afforded great eastern views of Salmon Lake. We used the swim platform and three kayaks every day. The living room had plenty of comfy seating and a good entertainment system. Also on the main floor was a large kitchen, full bathroom, laundry and one small bedroom, plus a semi-private sleeping space off the living room (which my teens really enjoyed). Upstairs, the entire second floor was a new, spacious master bedroom suite complete with bay window lake view, sitting area with TV and small gas fireplace, dressing area and full master bathroom. It was nice to wake up in the morning looking out at the lake!

Belgrade camp
The camp was the perfect set up for our stay. As far as the cleanliness of the camp could have been better. Nice spot fabulous master bedroom, good fishing, great swimming spot for kids. Lots of fun stuff to look at in the camp. And a very nice but nosey neighbor.

Kings July 2021 Review
Overall this home was super dirty and dusty. Upon arrival we had to take all the coverings off the couch and wash and dry them. We put pillows on the couch in the far corner that the owner claims is the 3rd bedroom to remove from the cleaned area. Just too dusty and smelly to use. The cabin has too many personal items and knick knacks that are very dirty, dusty and take away from the awesomeness of what could be a great rental. The knick knacks are very overwhelming. The cabin is covered in spider webs and dust. We killed a lot of spiders. ** I rent every summer in Maine and at this price range I have NEVER encountered such a dirty cabin. We spent a good deal of time cleaning up, washing bedding and opening windows to air it out on our first day. I cleaned bathrooms and washed towels that we would use. The outside of the home was neat all well cared for. The fire pit and amount of wood available to burn was fantastic. The dock did have a ladder that was not secured to the dock, so we immediately took it off as to not cause injury. That was super careless on the owners part. The cabin is close to neighbors so be ready for loud parties and lots of dogs barking. Overall, we made this rental work, but for the money we were completely dissatisfied with the uncleanliness. If the owner does not respond to this review with a response of how they have cleaned it and continues to blame the renter....I would take note.

A true Maine experience (including loons!)
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at King’s Kastle in Belgrade, ME! The rustic cabin provided plenty of room for our group to spread out. We had fun paddling on the lake in the 2-person kayak and using the outdoor fire pit to make s’mores. The highlight of the place is the roomy screened-in back porch where we spent peaceful mornings and evenings watching the sun rise and set and tracking the loons who appeared daily as well as listening to a wide variety of other birds. It is a great home-base location for nearby day trips and the neighbors are friendly and welcoming. It’s also worth mentioning that it has a washer/dryer so you can pack less and wash your clothes. We recommend King’s Kastle for a true Maine experience!

Pleasant stay
King's Kastle was a nice camp for a visit. It was well equipped with everything we needed. Unfortunately, we were never notified that even though we specifically paid for a 3 bedroom, we only had access to 2 bedrooms. I totally understand the owners need a place to put personal items, but we needed 3 bedrooms as advertised. A sofa bed in the living room did not qualify as a bedroom. The master bedroom was beautiful with a lovely view of the lake.
We also noticed while we were out for breakfast the second to last day of our visit, someone had come into the camp and dropped off food in the freezer. This food was not there when we arrived. (Labels were from Market Basket and had recent sell by dates). They had also gone upstairs to get something from a desk because a drawer was left open. We always locked the camp before leaving! I've never had anyone enter a place we were renting and we have rented other camps in the area. Nearby camps on the cove are close, but the neighbors are very friendly.
Other than that is was a nice 2 bedroom camp.

Fun stay. Only 2 bedrooms!
The location of the cabin was nice- quiet and right on the lake but not too far to drive to town. The master bedroom upstairs is beautiful with a great view of the lake. I feel like the cleaning fee is low and should be raised so the cabin would be cleaner upon check in. Most disappointing, however, was this was advertised as 3 bedrooms, and, although the cabin has 3 bedrooms, one was locked keeping the owner’s personal belongings (totally understandable, but just don’t advertise as 3 bedrooms). We had 3 kiddos so one had to sleep in the pull out in the main area which didn’t allow us to move around the house after he was in bed. Overall, there are a lot of pluses- the lake is nice and quiet with lots of wildlife! We loved using the canoe and kayaks! Just s little better cleaning and forthcoming about the use of only 2 bedrooms would help a lot!

Good property needs cleaning
I was very disappointed with the cleanliness of this property on arrival. We arrived late at night and spent half of our first day doing cleaning. This property could use an in depth cleaning to be on par with other properties we have rented. Other than cleanliness this property it is in a good location with good lake views.

King’s Castle
The experience was much more than pleasant. The home was comfortable, it was well decorated and kitchen tools we’re readily available. An extra was the camp came with 3 kayaks and a canoe. There were paddles and vests. The lake and fishing were excellent. The owner is a good communicator.

A great time at the King's Castle
It was everything that it said it would be and more. We had a great time. The view from the upstairs bedroom was breath taking. Daily Kayak rides added a beautiful perspective to the lake. We didn't want for anything.
