On The Beach is an oceanfront home in the historical Nye Beach area of Newport. It’s a little hip, a little old, and a little new. Your mood will instantly improve as you cross the threshold and enjoy your front row seat to the beautiful Pacific Ocean. You can view the fabulous beach, surf and lighthouse from the living room, the dining room, and the kitchen of this vacation rental. This is an original beach cottage. The main level of this home is just four steps up to the front door onto a fully enclosed porch with a bench where you can easily remove your sandy shoes. The living room contains comfortable and cozy furniture. A gas fireplace is also available when you just want to sit down with a book or watch some DVD's. The kitchen has everything you need to make a great meal. This three bedroom, one bath, fenced in home is perfect for a family or a group of friends that need to get away, slow down and catch up. There is one bedroom on the main floor with a double bed, along with a full bathroom. Upstairs are two more bedrooms; one with a queen bed while the other bedroom has two twin beds. This home also has a basement, which is a rarity along the coast. This is where the laundry room is located. The beach is only one block down the street at the Nye Beach public beach access. It's not luxury accommodations, but terrific View, access to Nye beach only a half a block away, two car garage so there's always parking in this popular spot, beds were comfy, and a nice yard for our dog.

We had a great stay. The location couldn't be better if you want to be in/near Nye Beach. Walking distance to everything you need - restaurants, bars, small grocery store, beach. Only thing I'd change is make a few upgrades, the place is a little dated, but we will definitely stay again.

Love the view and proximity to beach access. House is in need of serious updating. It wasn't a great fit for our family of 5 ( parents plus 3 young adults). Not much privacy upstairs between sleeping areas ( a curtain). Tiny beds - which we knew going in, but it was worse than we expected. Super hot in the home when we arrived - it did eventually cool down when we opened the few functional windows that could be opened ( a note in the house said bad windows are to be dealt with Spring 2025). We couldn't locate any bowls in the house and many of the plates were chipped. We had 5 people in our group, but only 4 chairs at the table. We were only there 2 nights, so we made do, but wouldn't have wanted to be there any longer. There weren't a lot of available electrical outlets. We did enjoy sitting on the deck and watching goings-on at the beach.

The house is quite dated and run down. Couldn’t see through the windows and the air was musty and stagnant. House could definitely use a significant refresh, but was comfortable enough and can’t beat being that close in on bye beach!

The property is ideally situated and great for dogs, with an enclosed yard. We really enjoyed the view and the easy access to the beach. There were a few minor issues. There is a problem with one of the garage doors (it's askew) which made it very difficult to raise and lower. We came home to water in the kitchen from the dishwasher, so we stopped using it. And there was no extra toilet paper. Even with these, we would stay again.

Went downstairs to the basement to allow a plumber to inspect for a leak that had been reported by a previous renter. Plumber wanted to turn water off for 8 hours to fix the leak. I said; "No, we paid too much money to be that inconvenienced.He could come back after we left." While in basement I saw LOTS OF BLACK MOLD on the walls. It was a finished basement, but due to owner neglect it is uninhabitable down there. Had to call mgmt to get towels when we arrived. No covers for kitchen trash. Chips on most of the dishes. Upper cabinets extremely old, frankly gross and high up. Large outdoor trashcan over flowing and management had audacity to ask ME to roll it over the yard of LONG GRASS out to the road to be collected. TV had ZERO INSTRUCTIONS. Took 3 days and my own personal equipment to get it working so it could be watched. House is very old and frankly felt unsafe. The upstairs is 1 big room divided by a curtain to make "2" rooms providing zero privacy.1 light between both. No light for steep stairs going down to main floor.No maintenance on yard so grass was long to pick up dog messes out of. Pull strings to turn on ceiling lights throughout house, and kept breaking. BEDS EXTREMELY HARD AND UNCOMFORTABLE! LEFT 3 DAYS EARLY BECAUSE OF THIS! Fireplace screen FILTHY. Need plexiglass on the deck because the wind blows often, and nothing to stop it, so can't enjoy the deck. House has potential, but needs serious upgrades for the price they charge. I don't recommend this dump!

House was exactly as described. Great location and a bit quirky. Loved the games provided for family game night. Agree small changes would make a big impact. Bed downstairs in serious need of a new mattress. An update of restaurants and local area would be great. Binder of info is extremely outdated. All in all, the house met our needs and we enjoyed our stay.

We originally planned to spend the week in a yurt but saw the weekly rain forecast and were able to book this house last minute. We knew the house was old so anytime something was a bit dated, we would proclaim, “better than a yurt!”. We loved the location and made multiple daily trips to the beach and the local shops and cafes. The views were amazing and even on the rainy days we enjoyed relaxing and watching the waves. The upstairs floors have been remodeled since the pictures and are clean and bright. Very cute and comfy older ocean cottage. It was so relaxing and quiet. We would stay again!

This was the best property. It was comfortable and so close to everything. All that you need is within walking distance and the other fun stuff is just a short drive. We will definitely be back!

First off I will say, the location of this property is amazing as it's close to everything Newport has to offer. We stayed at this property 7 years ago and nothing has been upgraded, including the beds and that is why I'm giving such a low rating. We came to rest and relax, which includes expecting a good night's sleep. The bed were old, small and broken down. The property is in very poor condition, especially the bathroom. We were not supplied with enough towels for our group. Great place just needs a ton of TLC.

You can't beat this rental for location and for having a great view. The concerns I had with the rental property came down to cleanliness and it being overall worn. I don't feel the listing's pictures are accurate. I'm actually very surprised on the good reviews for this rental. The cleanliness was always on our minds: the floors turned your feet and socks black (upon arrival), the fireplace screen has caked on dust and fur, our party cleaned each dish/glass/utensil since we couldn't determine if they were dirty or worn/stained/tarnished - ended up being 50/50, most kitchen surfaces have a grim coating unfortunately. The property is more worn then vintage: leather chair needs attention to match listing and memory book's (?) pictures, back decking bows when you walk on it, furniture/kitchen/bathroom are functional, but that's it for the price; it just seems like everything hasn't been fixed or attended too for quite some time. I feel this property doesn't compare to other beach rentals I have stayed it with the same specks, location and view. That being said, I would not stay at this location again till it would get a refresh.

Filthy place , unsafe environment for anyone …massive tangle of power cords under tv , fireplace screen was so clogged with dust and debris couldn’t start a fire fearing hazardous conditions, was told on the listing washer & dryer available…all we found was a do not use out of order sign windows so filthy you can’t enjoy the view all in all this place was nothing like the listing and definitely not worth the 500.00 bucks a night to stay here . I’ve taken many pictures to back all this up , and will be contacting the better business bureau, my family and I will never use your service again..

Extremely filthy, floors had not been cleaned in a very long time, very dated and old needs a Re-fresh/remodel, stairs are trecherous, laundry area is moldy, stinky, kitchen cabinet doors were covered in slime/grease, cook top hood was horrific covered in grease, dishes were dirty, dishwasher did not work properly, kitchen was very dirty. it just needs a deep clean and a refresh and it would be perfect, the location is excellent, the views are amazing, it's a rough gem that needs a little polish.

Excellent location
This property is ideally located in the Nye Beach area of Newport. It has hippy charm with a fenced yard. The location is perfect. It's within walking distance of some excellent restaurants/cafes and so very close to the public beach access. We are spoiled by this property and will certainly stay here again.

Last Resort
Close to the beach and restaurants, but was not good for our family. Only one bathroom. Beds were small and uncomfortable. Tight, steep stairs to the second story where bedrooms are separated by a curtain. Garbage can was full upon our arrival and the place needed a good cleaning.

Breathtaking views. Great location, super close walk to beach and shops. Was great for two nights, not sure I would want to stay longer than that. Only one bed is in a room that you can actually close a door to, but that worked out okay for us.

Absolutely fabulous eclectic beach cottage ON the water. SUPER view. Close beach access. Garage parking. Fenced yard, dogs allowed. Right in the heart of delightful Nye Beach. Perfect enclosed front porch to dry feet and remove shoes etc. To know: main floor double bed is VERY firm. Stairs to second floor are STEEP & narrow. Exterior is weathered and rustic in the extreme. Yard fencing acceptable for "quiet" dogs. More energetic dogs should be supervised. Interior is updated, but be prepared for pull chain lights and other eccentric whimsy. Wifi is good, TV channels good. Overall an unbeatable location.

This is a lovely property with a wonderful view of the coast and easy access to the beach within walking distance. The kitchen appliances are a bit old but work fine. No wall light switches mean the only way to turn on the lights are will pull cords. And I'm tall so I was always running into them. A great place to spend a blustery Thanksgiving in 2021.

I have a suggestion. Place a weatherproof microphone on the deck. Your efforts to weatherproof are admirable; but 1/3 oh the ocean is the noise. Hook it up to your sound with a knob to increase column. Include off switch

Great little house, right on the beach. Great views of the beach and lighthouse. We even watched whales right from the deck. Very narrow streets, tho, would not recommend motor homes.

Newport OR beach stay
The property was fine, old and funky, but pretty much what you would expect from an old beach house. Great location on Nye's beach. There is a large apartment building on the south side of the house which the pics don't show, but it wasn't really an issue for us. I was going to mention the rate we paid, but VRBO said that information wasn't allowed in the reviews. Weather was perfect.

The location and views were amazing. I appreciated the fenced yard for the dog and the decorations and furnishings were nice. The house was old and needed a deep cleaning and some upgrades. The basics were clean enough (shower, bedding, floors, countertops). The dishes and pots and pans were fairly banged up and should be replaced. There was a chunky layer of dust inside the kitchen cabinets so I felt like I needed to wash each dish and pan before I used it. Also, the outside of the kitchen cabinets were layered with multiple coats of paint and looked dirty. I looked for a multi purpose cleaner to clean them but could not find one. Also, we ran out of paper towels. The down stairs bed and couch were comfortable but the upstairs mattresses need to be upgraded. Overall I had a great time and I would rent it again.
