About this cottage rental
Our cottage has a beautiful private sandy beach with sandy lake bottom too, with lots of seating and toys. Our cottage is ideal for 5 (our price is based on 6 guests) and we have had up to 11 with enjoyment for all. For sleeping we have a QUEEN SLEEP NUMBER BED in main bedroom (sleeps 2). There is a double bed with a twin top bunk in lower level bedroom with another twin under the double bed (that room will sleep 4) plus another all purpose room/bedroom with twin trundle bed (sleeps 2). We have had guests bring their own air mattresses and bedding to fit more people. We can discuss this, we are pretty much happy if you are.
Amazing view in the main living area. Galley style kitchen including cooking utensils, stove/oven, microwave, toaster, refrigerator/freezer and coffee maker. This is a small kitchen so if your interested in lots of inside cooking with room for multiple people cooking with you this might not be the kitchen for you. Table sits 6 comfortably with two tables on deck and picnic table outside. There is also a table at the deck on the beach with a large awning for shade.
We have a charcoal grill for guest and there is a cooler down at the beach for guests as well under the awning.
The deck has a fantastic view with seating.
There are lots of toys for the little one down at the beach. While supplies last... Parents must get the toys our for their child. Parents please put the toys away for the next guest. Many parents trust their children to do it and this does not work. The parents must make sure the toys are back where they belong.
For the adults there is a canoe, 2 kayaks, and blow up/float toys. (To be used at your own risk of course.) All while supplies last...
This cottage is our happy place.
We waited our entire lives to find this home on Crystal lake. It was built by a student of Francis Lloyd Wright and you can see it in his attention to detail and love he put into this house. When I walk into my cottage my troubles just seem to melt away from my shoulders. I can breathe easier. I sleep better.
I wake up in the mornings and have my coffee on the peaceful balcony and watch the quiet, calm lake and just breathe.
I make a pitcher of iced tea and take it out to the beach along with my favorite book and read until the sun tells me it's time to jump in the lake or float on my float tubes. I usually end up in the kayak or on a paddle board watching the sandy bottom go by and counting fish.
When we start to get hungry we bbq on the grill. In the evening we light a fire in the lake side fire place and make smores as we watch the sun set. Then we search for constellations and count shooting stars. Our beach is pretty private so I usually end up sneaking back into the lake for a midnight swim to cool down, float on my back and watch the stars some more. Then we go sit in the balcony for a late night glass of wine. We go to bed and get lulled to sleep by the lapping of the lake on the shore line.

The house has so much character! I felt at home. The goodie bag that the host provided was a fantastic bonus!
It was in the low 70s when we visited but my kids did not care. They swam, we kayaked, we even rented a boat from the Marina down the road.

We had the best 3 days/3 nights at the lake! The deck and beach area were perfect. Our kids loved playing off the dock and in the sand. We enjoyed the kayaks too. The house is complete with all the necessities. The kitchen was stocked well and the living space was enough for our family of five to relax comfortably. We enjoyed sunsets and sunrises from the front deck. The only concern we had were cars driving fast down the road directly in front of the house. 5/5 stay!

This adorable cottage on Crystal Lake provided us with a wonderful week vacation. The beach at the property provides hours of endless fun with kayaks, paddle boards, ample lounging and eating areas. Shade and sun are available. The views from the house, deck, and beach are truly amazing. The kitchen, living, bedrooms, and bath were all super clean and equipped for anything you would need. We ate every meal outside to enjoy the stunning Crystal Lake views. If you explore the area you will find wonderful places to bike, hike and beach enjoying the outdoors. The Betsie River Trail, Empire Bluff Trail, and Point Betsie Lighthouse are just a couple of the spots we enjoyed immensely.
Meg the host communicated well with us and took extra care to make sure our stay was great. The little details for comfort and charm are definitely there with this cute little cottage. We love this area and this cottage. We can’t wait to return. Highly recommend.

Nice house. The beach area had everything you need. Kitchen had everything needed. Like the property description says it is a small kitchen There was spices, sugar, coffee filters etc.. Had a wedding the day of check in, we noticed day before was empty. We asked if we could check in early to get ready. Owner let us check in early was much appreciated. Owner responded very quickly.

Very unique home! Awesome views of the lake from the house deck. House had all the necessary items for a comfortable stay. Spiral stairs were a challenge to navigate with luggage and groceries.

Beautiful home on an amazing lake
We spent the long Memorial Day weekend here and it was beyond our wildest expectations. The beach area was cozy and kept the kids entertained all day. The house was so comfortable, from the large windows and balcony to the spiral staircase. We spent the one chilly overcast day exploring the dunes and nearby towns. Driving through the tree lined roads was so much fun. My only regret is we didn’t stay longer!

Excellent location was so peaceful and very quiet. Beach And water area perfect for any age we had a 2 yr old with us water shallow at the edge and plenty of sand to play in. Owners have thought of everything you could need .

Relaxing Stay on Crystal Lake
We stayed here with our 2 small children and had a blast. The house was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Meg was available to help us and easy to communicate with. We love architecture and appreciated the unique style of the cabin. We had a blast at the private beach and had fun using the fire pit and roasting marshmallows. We also enjoyed how close the property was to Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and Frankfort. Looking forward to hopefully staying again.

Beautiful and relaxing
This location is the perfect to check out the Sleeping Bear Dunes and Lake Michigan, but also great for relaxation and play on Crystal Lake. The home had everything needed, and a wonderful view of the lake. Kayaks and sand toys were a huge plus!

Great stay at Crystal Lake
Unique home on quite road with private beech and dock. Host was very accommodating and communicative. Home was cozy, clean, and has a great lake view from the balcony patio. Kitchen, laundry, were stocked with supplies, plenty of towels, blankets and sheets. Lots of seating on the beach. Beach is stocked with plenty of chairs, toys, kayaks, and canoe. Short drive to national parks, amazing hikes and views. Highly recommend Frankfort for meals and shopping.
In sum, our family enjoys off-season, no fuss, no crowds, type of vacations. The area was perfect as was our host and their property

Excellent family beach spot
Cozy house with amazing private beach, dock, and gazebo across the street. Sitting on the dock in the morning was incredibly peaceful. The water was shallow enough my 4yr old could play in it. There were lots of things already there like kayaks, beach toys for kiddos, board games inside - it made it easy to stay occupied. Location is close to Sleepy Bear dunes and Frankfort for dinners. Loved our stay!

We loved everything about this stay. First and foremost this beach is phenomenal and Crystal Lake is stunning. The house had everything we needed for a comfortable place to relax after being on the lake! They have thought of everything and the little details make a world of difference. We have visited several homes on these travel sites and this was by far the cleanest! Loved everything about it and hope to be back soon!

Wonderful Family Trip
We enjoyed the unique design of this beautiful cottage. The owners are so easy to work with if you have questions or concerns. The deck has a beautiful view of the lake & the stars at night. The beach is the best we have rented & they supply so many things for kids & adults; kayaks, sand toys, fire pit, covered beach area for the baby, pak-n-play, board games, surf boards, etc. The lake area was shallow & my grandkids (10,9,7) loved swimming & playing in the area with a sandy bottom for their feet!

Super great Lake & private beach
We so enjoyed this property. The house is a little quirky, but so much fun, and I love the decorations. The beach was private, across the road, but super convenient. The beach had a cabana two kayaks, two paddleboard‘s, and a canoe right there. The small shed was full of all kinds of toys and life vest. The lake was crystal clear. We enjoyed Seeing sleeping bear dunes, Frankfurt, traverse, wineries, and just enjoying the lake itself always HM with Lake Michigan too. We loved the large deck overlooking the lake & ate breakfast or lunches there each day. Meg couldn’t have been nicer, accommodating, and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. I would recommend this place to family or friends, but do you know that the third bedroom has a bathroom you have to walk through to get to it, and Stairs are spiral, so if you have anyone with balance issues or older people, you might want to consider this. Otherwise, we loved everything about it!

This place truly is a "happy place"!
We absolutely loved our stay at Meg's cottage. Our week here went by so quickly, and we were so not ready to go home when it was over. The cottage itself was beautiful, you can tell that there has been some updates done, but the character of the home remains. We had a family vacation consisting of 6 people, and we had more than enough room without feeling crowded at all. The location of the cottage was amazing, you're a quick drive to Sleeping Bear Dunes and Traverse City. The private beach was the best part-We spent a majority of our time in the water swimming, paddle boarding, boating, kayaking and fishing. The crystal clear water was unlike anything you would expect from a lake, and at night the water was so calm it was like glass. I will miss sitting on the paddle board and watching the sunset and sitting on the beach watching the millions of stars at night. We were so lucky to have stumbled across this listing and booked this cottage, and we could not have asked for a better vacation. The owner was always extremely responsive, and always made sure to let me know that they were there in case we needed anything at all, which I appreciated. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us! We can't wait to be back!

Anyway, the property and owners did not disappoint. Meg knew it was my wife’s birthday and was thoughtful enough to provide her a card and a nice bottle of local wine. She also provided a great “care package” of items we might need during our stay. The property was clean, spacious, and again offers amazing sights and sounds with the water lapping up on the shore easily heard from the balcony. Meg and her husband have documented everything you need to know including ideas on things to do locally. We loved the proximity to Frankfort, which has a great little downtown and allows you to watch the sunset on Lake Michigan. We will be back for sure and will be bringing our kids with us next time. It was just as described and my family enjoyed it. From smore's on the beach, fishing crystal lake, kids swimming, and relaxing in the mornings and evening on deck, it was all perfect for our short getaway. Plus located close to many area attractions. Plus Meg was very responsive to the few questions we had (she had answered most before we even had to ask).

Great vacation home!
What a great week! The weather was cold and rainy at times, but the lake house was amazing. Everything was as described and Meg was amazing. She was always quick to respond when I sent her a question. The beach was clean and numerous toys for all ages! The architecture of the house was cool too! Highly recommend staying at this location and we hope to be back next summer!! Thanks again for a great experience!!

Great Social Distancing Vacation
When our summer plans were canceled due to COVID-19, we chose to stay at this cottage for our summer getaway. It was a perfect base to do outdoor things in the lower part of Sleeping Bear Dunes. The kitchen was well-stocked and we were able to do most of our cooking there, with an occasional night of takeout. The view of the lake is beautiful out of the top of the cottage. We also visited some wineries and St. Ambrose, which provided a nice outdoor space for tastings and a food truck. I would stay there again, even in the future when the pandemic is over.

Great place to stay. Cottage was very clean and comfy. Owners have thought of everything you could need. Really enjoyed the beach and the beautiful lake-kayaks and SUPs were lots of fun to use. Meg was always quick to answer all inquiries and questions and was a great host.

Great week on Crystal lake
We stayed for a week in late August. We are a family of 4. Our boys are 11 and 13.
First let me say that when it comes to location and beach amenities this place was excellent. We all spent most of the day on the beach.
The home as described is somewhat quirky but very spacious with enough room for at least 6 people.
Kitchen is small but easily big enough to prepare meals for our family.
We would definitely go back to this home and plan to do so next summer.
Our friend were staying about 8 houses down the street and were at on our beach with us the entire time because of the sitting area and amenities.

Perfection!
The house was the perfect size and location. We had dinner on the deck almost every night overlooking the lake. The lake water was crystal clear and the beach area was pristine. Meg the owner was quick to respond to my questions. We’d drive 14 hours again to stay there!!!

Beautiful location!!
This was the perfect place to get away and relax. The weather was gorgeous and we were able to swim in the lake every day. The water level and sandy bottom was ideal for my boys. My five year old loved the bunk bed and all of the beach toys. We enjoyed the comfort of the house and and all of the amenities. A special thanks for bringing a rocking chair for my baby. Very grateful for that extra effort and we really appreciated it. Thank you for making us feel so welcome and we would love to come again next year.

We had a wonderful time at this property. Our host did a great job of communicating with us, the cottage had absolutely everything we needed. Crystal lake and this part of Michigan is just gorgeous. Very friendly people in the area.
