About this cottage rental
NOTE: BEFORE SUBMITTING A BOOKING REQUEST IT IS ALWAYS BEST TO SEND US AN INQUIRY WITH ALL YOUR QUESTIONS SO YOU CAN MAKE SURE THAT THIS IS THE PERFECT PROPERTY FOR YOU BEFORE YOU BOOK IT!!
Above dunes and beach roses. Romantic and charming, totally rebuilt in the 1980s and fully updated (skylight/vaulted ceilings/recessed lights). Beautifully furnished with quality antiques, lovely bed linens. 3 minute walk to the beach, perfect for honeymooners/couples sleeps 3. Gorgeous perennial gardens. A very photogenic property...Featured in Cape Cod Life Magazine, on postcards, on the cover of the local Nantucket newspaper, and a picture of OUR cottage was one of 12 large scenes featured in a calendar for Cape Cod and the Islands. We have some of the best competitive prices for the Island and the best off season rates. Long weekends available in early and late off-season.
Also note that because our property is away from Nantucket Town proper you will need to think about transportation to our house particularly in the off-season. As a result, you should figure out transportation before booking our property. While there is shuttlebus service that stops one block from our house (check with Nantucket Regional Transit Authority for precise dates of operation and confirm the bus makes stops in Sconset for the dates and times you are interested in) renting a car, Uber, bikes, or cabs are also options and you should contact the Nantucket Chamber of Commerce to get better information on using any of these modes of transportation. Also note that bus service outside of the higher season months runs less frequently so check out the schedule if you are planning on using this mode of transportation to make sure it works out with your plans. You can also bring your car over on the Steamship out of Hyannis but you must make reservations with the Nantucket/Marthas Vineyard Steamship Authority. If you plan on using the Steamship Authority to bring your car over, make sure you have checked with them regarding availability as well as cost before booking our cottage.
Note for weeks where we require a 7 day minimum stay (Memorial Day to October) (we book Saturday to Saturday) we do not book additional days beyond the 7 day minimum unless your request is for an additional 7 days (in other words we don't accept 10 day stays for example) during this time frame.
Because we are located on an Island, travel to the Island may be impacted by weather or mechanical issues if you are traveling by boat or plane. This is something we have no control over. If this is a concern of yours, it is our understanding that VRBO offers trip insurance. Although we are not familiar with the terms of this insurance product and if it would cover travel related issues, it is something you may want to check on when thinking about booking a trip to Nantucket.
Cleaning cost ranges from $100 to $200 depending upon condition cottage is in when cleaners arrive! Please call for hints on how to reduce cleaning costs if you are interested.
The key to the cottage is kept in a lockbox. Instructions for using the lockbox will be provided to you prior to your visit.
Rates are periodically changed to reflect market conditions.

This cottage is right in the heart of Sconset. We woke up to the ocean shining right in front of us. Seals followed us as we walked the Bluff walk off Front street. The bus stop that took you all over the island was just two houses down. The public accesses to the beach were also two houses from either direction. While we were off season, Sconset was quiet and mostly closed, we still enjoyed the raw beauty of this side of the island. Bikes can be delivered and we started a long bike ride at Sankaty Lighthouse. The best food is just 15 minutes to town on the bus. The cottage is small, but has everything you need. A comfortable bed, an apartment size washer and dryer, a full size fridge and oven/stove, and a dishwasher. The living room/dining is also tiny, but it suited our needs. When we had an issue or question, Craig responded within minutes.

Perfect low key Sconset cottage. Clean, well appointed, everything you need. Craig was great with communication. We will be booking again soon!

We were looking for a little something different this Thanksgiving, and found the private escape here on Nantucket. The cottage was the sweetest place for our holiday away. The space was so quaint and made us feel like we were part of the history of the island. It was incredibly clean and had everything that we needed to manage on our own with many of the restaurants, shops and smaller markets close for the season. It is truly steps away from the beach with the view of the sunrise right through the window in the morning. There’s no better way to enjoy a cup of coffee! Our host was very prompt in all communication and more than helpful accommodating with questions, and last-minute asks on our end. We can’t thank him enough for helping to make our trip truly special. We definitely had so many things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.
We were thankful for the guidance to look at the transportation options. We rented a car for this trip and cannot stress enough that during the off-season, it makes a world of difference to have your own vehicle if staying out in Sconset. Look out Craig, we’re already thinking about coming back next year!

We had a lovely stay. The bed was so comfortable, and the cottage had everything you need to stay put for a few days which is nice considering not a single store or restaurant or cafe is open at this time in Sconset. The owner was super fast to respond to any inquiries we had. Truly appreciate his communication as our schedules shifted and we had a few questions. It’s a very small cottage but it’s adorable, and comfortable, made us feel like we went back in time to a British fairytale. Would love to come back when the roses are in bloom.

PERFECTION!
Lovely! JUST amazzzzing!
My family adored this this precious jewel box-
Yes, you can hear the sea!
Walk to everything-
Making more incredible Siaconset memories (complete with fireflies and grilled shellfish beach dinners every single night—with S’mores!)
Fog, sun, a warm rain! Enjoyed every moment!
Claudette’s a favorite—
Cannot wait for next time!
Thank you, Craig!

I booked this cottage last minute for my parents as the house we rented wasn’t big enough for our extended family. They loved having their own hideaway with an ocean view where grandkids could visit or they could escape for a nap. It’s only a few lots away from the Summerhouse and walking distance to everything including the beach! Would definitely rent again.

A truly amazing cozy spot, perfect walking distance to everything and a lovely home overall. Craig was wonderfully helpful and responsive. Can’t wait until next time!

Our second year visiting was just as nice as our first.
Incredible location, looking down to the ocean from the living room. Two adirondack chairs in the front yard make for the perfect spot to enjoy coffee and watch the sunrise over the water each morning.
House is very small, no square footage is wasted, so keep that in mind. Great place to sleep, enjoy ocean air, shower, change and head out the door. Proper beach house.
Will definitely visit again.

We honeymooned on Nantucket 40 years ago and wanted to return for a special getaway. Barque is in a perfect spot, was cozy and comfortable, and the owner was gracious and prompt in communicating with us. We loved our time there.

This simple, quaint cottage on the oceanside gave us the special Nantucket getaway we hoped. Listening to the ocean and the birdsong every, entering the beach just a short walk from the cottage, strolling to town an even closer walk from the front door, and the ambience of off season peacefulness were...just right. Thank you, Craig.

My daughter and I spent a lovely Christmas Stroll weekend in this cottage. We were looking for a quiet place to stay for the weekend, and Craig was extremely gracious in helping us check in and out. From the gorgeous wood interior and yellow bubble glass window on the door, to the beautiful Christmas tree at the rotary in Siasconset, and to the well-stocked accommodations in the beautifully-decorated cottage, we could not have had a better stay. Definitely looking to make this an annual tradition, thank you Craig!

If you’re looking for a quiet stay away from the Main Street crowds, Barque is for you. My husband and I spent Thanksgiving weekend in the cottage and loved every minute of it. We usually stay closer to town when we visit the island, but opted for a quieter and more relaxed vibe for this trip. The location was perfect for watching the seals and the sun rise (a 1 minute walk to the beach) and for star gazing—the sky was so clear at night! While the cottage is small, we never felt cramped or like we were starving for space to move around. I really appreciated how welcoming and warm the space felt. We would definitely stay again and hope to in the future!!

Sconset is Heaven...Great Little House
If you are not familiar with Nantucket, know that staying in Sconset is a decision to stay on the "slower side" of the island. There is a little market with basic grocery supplies and ice cream, a yummy sandwich shop (Claudette's), and an upscale "bookstore" in Sonset (doesn't sell books but has very fashionable women's clothing, home decor, and nice liquor selection). You should definitely get a turkey salad sandwich with the works from Claudette's while you are in town. Also, within a few hundred steps of this home, is the Summer House Bistro with live music each night, as well as a waterfront tent for dining. Upscale dining is right down the street at Chanticleer. That said, we LOVE Sconset. It is a great escape from the hustle and bustle of town (especially if you visit in the summer months). It's the most beautiful place on the island, in my opinion, and the most beautiful place in the US! Whatever you do, don't miss the bluff walk ending at Sankaty Head Light. We did this daily. Be prepared, though, to spend 25 minutes or so to get to the popular North Shore beaches (Steps, Jetties, etc). Also, dining in town is going to take some planning because it is a 25 minute drive if you hit traffic.
All this being said, the house is in an unbeatable location if you choose to stay in Sconset. You will be able to walk to the beach access and playground within 5 minutes (just over the Sundial bridge). Walk to the beautiful Chanticleer restaurant and the Sconset Casino for tennis in less than 5 minutes.
The house has all the basics including paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, and a bar of soap for the shower. The kitchen had all the basic necessities, but we found it easier to make a simple meal of charcuterie on the nights we dined in. We found a deck of cards to play. You should bring a game of Scrabble for a rainy day :) Also, there were several beach chairs and a beach umbrella in good condition. The owner was very accommodating! Thank you for sharing this little slice of heaven with us for the week. I can't wait to return to Sconset!

Comfy cottage, beautifully decorated, with lovely ocean view.
Everything was perfect except for whoever supplies the linens had lovely towels there but no washcloths and no hand towels, but it was really early in the season and I assumed it was just an oversight by the service. The towels and the linens were very nice quality. I have stayed there before in the past and there were plenty of wash cloths. So no big deal. I hope to return next year, if not sooner! Great, peaceful cottage.

Enjoyed falling asleep to the sound of the ocean. Adorable cottage. Small but has everything you could need for a beach side getaway.

Little Nantucket gem
I would come back here in a minute. I was did not want to leave! If you’re looking for a direct ocean view and don’t need a lot of space you won’t be disappointed with this cottage. It is situated on the iconic Sconset bluff where you can walk and bike this picturesque part of Nantucket. After spending 4 days on the island and seeing most everything it is certainly my favorite part. Every time I told someone in Nantucket center I was staying in Sconset they would respond that I have already seen one of the most beautiful places.
As far as the cottage itself. It is just as advertised. But better than the pics in my opinion. I loved the beautiful old wood floors. It is well equipped. The only things you will need to run out and get upon arrival are food and beverage. I slept great in the bed but I was glad I was alone. I’m used to a king size bed and there is just not that kind of room here. I took most of my meals here so I felt like there was ample kitchen equipment. I unpacked my bags and stored them away to make space. If I had but one critique it would only be to get after some cobwebs and do a little dusting of drapes. Otherwise, I found the space to be quite clean.
You are steps from the beach. You can have a bike delivered. You are steps from the Sconset Bluff walk. I walked the neighborhood each evening. Just gorgeous and peaceful. I was also here “out of season” - end of April. I don’t appreciate crowds so I knew this would be an ideal time for me. The island was still quite packed with dinner reservations needing to be made weeks in advance so keep that in mind- especially if traveling in season. I highly recommend renting a car if you want to tour around the whole island. However, there are tour buses to see the island as well as The Wave, public transit that will get you around at certain stops.
My absolute favorite thing was sitting in the cozy corner with the sunlight pouring in the window, seeing the Atlantic, hearing the waves crash, and reading my book. Even with the cooler weather one day I was able to sit out in the chairs provided in the lawn and enjoy this same scene but outside. This is a gem of a cottage on my travels!!

Small but mighty
This cozy cottage has everything you need. Comfy furnishings. Sit on the sofa, watch the sunrise and the waves hit Sconset beach. Kitchen is small but equipped with enough to make a nice dinner. Well priced for Nantucket. Owner communicates promptly and is very helpful.

A gem of a cottage
I stayed in the cottage in mid-November. A wonderful time to be visiting Nantucket as the Summer crowds were gone. Waking up to a view of the ocean each morning was a real treat as well as the 2 minute walk to the beautiful beach. No need to bring a lot of clothing as the washer and dryer worked perfectly, as did all of the other appliances. It’s a very quaint and comfortable cottage and the property manager was great as he responded to my questions immediately. I will definitely rent the cottage on my next trip.

Cozy cottage
This cottage may be small but it offers great views, a great neighborhood and comfy furnishings. This our second stay and we liked it even better this return trip. I enjoyed sitting in the yard in the sun watching the waves on Sconset beach. We even created a tasty dinner in the tiny but well equipped kitchen! We’ll return for sure.

Charming Cottage in need of TLC.
Located in a great part of Nantucket (recommend having your own vehicle), this place could be wonderful once again but it needs a deep cleaning and a garage sale. If you travel like a gypsy, this is the place for you. If you have any kind of luggage or groceries, navigating the cottage will be a challenge because the cabinets and closets are full. The cottage is one floor with a galley kitchen and tiny for two people. Very thoughtful, charming decor. The view is lovely with the ocean in the distance, beach access nearby and one of the few cottages with this kind of view. It is on the street, gets walking traffic and occasional tour buses. There are other cottages close by and in close proximity to a restaurant. Quiet will depend upon your neighbors. The owner was attentive and gave us an extra hour for checking out which was very helpful regarding our travel plans.

The Sweetest Spot
If you know Nantucket, you know that Barque is located upon the most beautiful strip of the island … woke to sunrises and enjoyed the lawn overlooking the ocean in the evening. Craig was a wonderful host!!

Sweet and by the Sea
Barque has everything a couple may need for a week in Siasconset. We appreciated access to washer/dryer. Also appreciated the beach chairs and umbrella. Excellent communication from the property owner during the days prior to the trip and after we checked in. Given the proximity to Summer House, there is a bit of foot traffic during peak restaurant hours, but nothing to complain about. Ocean views, 2 minute walk to the market and bus stop. Overall an excellent value. Highly recommended.

The property was in a great location, in walking distance to the beach and the bluff walk. The cottage was in great shape and we enjoyed our stay. Craig was very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed. We had a great time and we will be back!

End of May stay
Cottage was in a GREAT location with great views and ideal for walking to the beach or walking for exercise. We had kind of a hard time finding it because there was no number on the cottage. Older, but clean. VERY comfortable bed. Really appreciated being able to bring our dog. Weather was wonderful and crowds were less than the summer crowds.

Dream stay
This had to be one of my dream stays ANYWHERE. Waking up, every morning, at the cottage was a gift. My sons and I would watch the sunrise every morning. Though the cottage is small, it is immaculate and beautifully decorated but reasonably so. Communication with Craig was great. Dream stay. I will miss this place for sure, as will my sons.

Cozy cottage for two
This lovely comfortable cottage is in a spectacular location. We loved sitting on the plush sofa looking out at the water. The weather cooperated and we even sat out in the yard. Daffodils greeted us everywhere. We dined in every night and found the kitchen well equipped. Recommend without a single reservation.

Beautiful cottage with ocean view
We had an amazing and restful time at this beautiful, cozy cottage by the sea. The scenery is breathtaking and the quiet neighborhood is great for long walks. I can't recommend this property enough.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the rose-covered cottage in early November. The cottage is on a quiet road, across from open land above the beach and ocean, with beautiful views of the distant ocean (the beach is not visible below the bluff). There is also a small private yard with Adirondack chairs, which were great for enjoying the view (which looks east to nice views of the sunrise & moonrise). The cottage is nicely located near the center of 'Sconset and the pedestrian bridge that leads to the cliff walk. I don't know if it was because we were there in the fall, but every time we went to the beach we saw seals! The cottage is very small but well laid out, with high beamed ceilings that give it a more spacious and pleasant feel. We appreciated that there was space in a dresser and closets in the bedroom, so we could unpack suitcases and slide them under the bed. The kitchen is well stocked, but we did have one suggestion: the cabinets are quite full, and if some space were cleared out, it would allow guests to have room to store a few provisions. Finally, it was important to us that we could bring our dog, so we really appreciated that.We highly recommend this cottage, especially for couples.
