Stayed here for a buddies golf trip and we had a blast!
2.0
We arrived at the destination and the house was filthy and unkept. It was beyond dirty - used undergarments on the floor, windows and doors without latches, as well as dilapidated furniture and bedding. The amount of dust on the floors and beddings was inexcusable. The photos did not adequately represent the state of the house and felt completely misled. There was also no way to lock the house and secure our belongings. The WIFI didn't work and there was no phone service. Not only was the cleanliness not up to par, but our group did not feel safe. Our group immediately left and we did not stay there due to the conditions. The host never messaged us back despite many texts and calls. We were expecting a rustic home, but rustic decor and an unkept/outdated house are not the same thing. Do not believe the photos.

My Group: A youth Ministry from the suburbs of Detroit MI. We had 75 in total, 55 teenagers and 20 adults.
The Pros: The property was in a great location that allowed our group to have travel days into Olympic and Mt. Raineer National Park, Port Townsend for a whale-watching tour, and Seattle. The property itself is secluded with tons of space! To sleep 75 we brought a bunch of air mattress and slept Girls in the upstairs bunkroom and down stairs bedrooms. For the boys the Middle schoolers piled into the gym room while the highschool group slept in the side of the house with the two great rooms (upstairs empty and downstairs filled with cars) The pond was an absolute blast! We had so much fun every day swimming from morning till night! We used the "game room" to debrief with our team and have teaching times together. For group and quiet times the property had tons of space to spread out.
Jim the owner was extremely pleasant and also uses the funds from the rental to do nonprofit work in the city.
The Cons: To be honest, the house was not very clean at all when we arrived. we went to the store and bought lots of cleaning supplies. We even bought all new sheets for most of the beds. In addition, the house clearly needs some love as the furniture is dated and everything is worn out. For our group it was fine, although the first day was rough. If you are high maintenance, this rental is not for you. If you are flexible, it is a great deal for the cost!

This beautiful and chaotic space has become a yearly tradition for our group. Great space, weird vibes, good times

We had stayed her over 13 years ago and the host was amazing then and now! However, the house not so much. The house was incredibly dirty, Dirty laundry inside the house, dust everywhere, and the house it sell was in desperate need of some TLC. Very large house and great for entertaining large gatherings but I think it is time for a uplift.

It was exactly as I expected; lodge that was large enough for big group, nothing fancy so it felt like we were in the mountains at a place drifters can come through and use and try to leave it better than they found it! Owner is super nice and definitely wants your stay to be enjoyable. Our only downer was that half the lodge was freezing cold due to heater breaking the week before we got there. We made it work but could have have used the extra space. Definitely intend on visiting there again in a warmer time and recommend to large parties for sure.

Beautiful property. So much space to spread out and common places to come together. This is our families 3rd time at this property, and each time holds special memories. Jim is a very gracious host.

We had a wonderful time staying at the house. There was plenty of space for everyone and a great VHS collection. I would recommend this property to anyone doing a retreat weekend or multi family get away.

We chose this rental place because the house has lots of bedrooms, a large dining table, and could accommodate our 15-person group. The place is very remote and has lots of charms, with its lake/pond, large kitchen, rec room, gym room, and of course its garages with 10+ antique cars. We struggled a bit initially with the lack of wifi and some plumbing issues, which both got repaired on the second day. Do not expect perfection or you'll be disappointed, it's an older and very large place and the owner does his best to maintain things. Despite those minor issues, we had an excellent time in this house and would stay at the same place if the opportunity comes again.

Jim was very friendly and accomodating

The property is gorgeous, nestled in serene forest where you wake up to soft sunlight and bird calls in the morning. It makes it all the more disappointing that the opportunity of this place is utterly squandered.
The entire cabin is clearly run down - sagging floor boards, deeply stained carpets, standing water in the stairwell, debris in the tubs, minimal water pressure, lights that just don't work, cable boxes that don't work, plug sockets that are loose and don't hold a plug, doors that were bent off hinges, a broken hot tub and a strange lack of basic accommodation. There was no shampoo in the showers, no towels except garage towels in the laundry room, and no help in sight.
There was **no internet** in the house the entire trip. We walked a 1/4 mile to the main road to get service to ask for help and the property manager didn't respond to messages at all over those three days. We had no check-in procedure, we had no keys given to lock the place when we left, and no check-out instructions to ensure we wouldn't be charged for messes.
Would I recommend this place to anyone? Absolutely not. At least not before a significant renovation and change in ownership.

Me and a large group rented the Lodge for a weekend retreat and we look forward to returning. The property comfortably fit around 50 people but could have fit even more. The large number of beds, pull out couches, and bathrooms offered a leisurely experience for everyone. We especially loved to spend time in the front yard however, where there was a beautiful open grass area plus a large pond with a boat. On top of everything, the showroom of cars was amazing for taking pictures and observation. I could not have found a better place for a large group weekend getaway, would 100% recommend!

We had a great time at the property. It ended up raining during our stay so we took full advantage of the game room

This is a really quirky space, but also a wildly amazing space - do not expect it to be lacking in nuance, do expect to have more space than you can possibly know what to do with - sleeps a ton, sound isolated in most of the bedrooms, overall, an amazing gem of a place.

This was our fourth time renting the Harbor Creek Lodge and we look forward to the next! The house is very large and has lots of spaces for gathering, an indoor basketball gym, game room with pool table, ping pong, foosball, poker table, and a wet bar. The lodge is an older log building and has seen its share of wear and tear, but is still a great place for events with your friends and family. Jim was easy to work with and accommodating. We appreciate all of his work to get the property ready for our group.

When we drove into the property we are so excited lots of trees, water etc. However, when we walked into the open doors, literally the doors were wide open, we were quickly disappointed. The place was not clean, Refrigerator filthy, oven smoked in use because it was dirty, tubs were stained and not cleaned. Hot tub did not work. And when we asked from someone to come clean, no one ever showed. I never do bad reviews but this was not okay .

Harbor Creek Lodge
Plenty of rooms and beds for our family.
Location was near perfect for our needs.
Low on the cleanliness rating…dirt, dust, and cobwebs throughout.
Stove and oven functioned but we’re in question.
Kitchen sink faucet was loose.

Family Gathering
The entire home was dirty beyond dust & cobbwebbs the floors, toilets, refrigerators, & bedding all needed to be cleaned before we used. The furniture is worn out, refrigerator has missing shelves, & due to the lack of cleaniness there is a mildew smell. Despite all of these my family rallied, helped clean up, & enjoyed the gathering.

Weekend to Remember
This house was AMAZING! It is a great space for a get together and an escape from city life. A ton of land around the house to hangout and a great pond (a couple of us jumped in). The house is beautiful as well and has a great game room with pool and ping pong. Would 10/10 stay here again! Thank you!

Excellent for a large group
We rented the house for a large group of young adults. It was amazing. Lots of indoor space, especially the game room. Outdoor space was incredible, allowing everyone to room to play. Would definitely come back!

Our experience
The owners of this property are amazing! They made the whole process very easy and worked with us on a few different aspects. The only issue we ran into was the cleanliness of the house itself. We found quite a bit of mouse and rat droppings throughout the house, as well as a dead mouse in a trap on top of the refrigerator. We totally understand why the critters are there since the house in pretty deep into a wooded area, though the critter issue could use a little better management.
Overall we had a wonderful weekend, and after we cleaned up a bit to ease our minds we had no further issues.

Disappointed
Unfortunately most items where broken and we had several plumbing problems from drains that were plugged to no water coming from the shower. A couple rooms smelled like urine and the house was dirty. Many broken items. I am asking for a refund.

Huge house; lovely area; house not in
Overall the family had a great time being together and kids loved fishing out of the pond for goldfish and crawfish. The owners were quick to respond as we had questions before and during the stay until we asked about compensation for spending 2 nights at a hotel during the record setting heat wave (no AC at house). We had a 3month old and no fault to the owner, but the temps were just too high to stay at the house. There are also some major points that should be addressed or stated for those considering to rent the house:
1) House has a very rustic feel. Think spider/cob webs in rooms
2) House had dirty showers/tubs/floors and even some food laying around when we arrived. Vacuum was sitting out. Cleaning regiment needs to be improved to host people.
3) Spa is in state of disrepair outside and not clean inside
4) many doors/walls have cracks/scuffs; Windows dirty and broken screens
5) loose brick on floors can be tripping hazard and vent in jack and jill bathroom had broken vent that we covered with a pan so a kid wouldn't accidentally step in it.
6) Gym floor had missing floor section (again tripping hazard for small kids)
7) Pond was advertised as swimming hole, but it was really not safe for swimming. Stagnate water, dead fish floating, more like a duck pond. Likely lots of bacteria and animal waste could make kids sick.
8) In lower garage some kind of fluid dripping from vent to floor
9) Kitchen faucet not secured to counter
10) Many fans broken and wired screens
11) mouse droppings in the hallways
12) Lots of burned out light bulbs

Funtastic time - Class of 2021 Retreat
This the norm image lodge offered so many things to do for our graduating seniors retreat. There was plenty of space for our group of 18. The beds were comfy and there were plenty of towels and blankets to cozy in on their couches. Plenty of sitting space, Whether you choose to be in chairs or the couches or at the dining Room table. The yard is perfect for outdoor activities. We had a slip and slide and we set up a kickball game. We also had about 6 people jump in the pond. We all spent a lot of time Playing ping pong, pool, and foosball in the game room. When we arrived there was a toilet leaking but the owner and his plumber were there right away and fixed it immediately. I enjoyed the great conversation with Jim and appreciated him sharing his stories with us. I highly recommend this vacation rental lodge. We all unanimously agreed that this was the most amazing place to spend our senior class retreat. Thank you Jim!

Absolutely amazing weekend
Decently large group coming down to spend the weekend at this lodge and we were blown away by the size and beauty of the house. The property has it all, a game room complete with pool and table tennis for colder weather, a massive lawn we played wiffle ball on when the sun came out and a pond stocked with fish we could swim in when it got too hot. Absolutely love the property and would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for an amazing stay in luxury and comfort

Such a fun odd massive space. While a little rough around the edges, it had charm in its uniqueness. Great for lots of people. It has a summer camp vibe.

Fun, Unique Property
Our group was looking for a place that could sleep a lot and this property is very unique, neat and can sleep a lot! It is an old lodge, it is very large and includes a mini gym and meeting room loft (that has tables and chairs). If you want a new, updated, crisp place to stay - this is probably not for you. If you want a unique, large place in a pretty setting and don't mind a few cobwebs in unused corners, this is a great place for you! We enjoyed our stay and the property manager/owner was very responsive to our needs and questions.

Cool Experience with University Athletics
Definitely a neat experience that our team doesn't necessarily get to be indulged in. Wifi was a bit on the slow side but that is to be understand when this large number stays there. It made us become closer and interact more without technology in our face. Plenty of space for everyone to feel comfortable. Lack of showers was a small issue but nothing that can't be worked around with a large number of people. Overall, cool little weekend getaway.

PLEASE AVOID THIS PROPERTY AT ALL COSTS if You'd like to remain Healthy
After having used VRBO for so many years, I do not have enough words to describe what a TRULY HORRIFIC experience this was. Here is a list of why NO ONE should stay here EVER [I have photos of the guest book comments that I would like to attach as a proof AND pictures I took that can prove what I am writing]:
a. Every Room at this property was Dirty with layers of dust and a strong smell of mold (I mentioned this to the property manager when I called him and he disagreed)
b. The property is located where NO ONE has ANY cell reception. The Internet password was provided but it did not work. I called the property manager the next day and after several calls I was told that the Internet will be fixed the day AFTER we leave. The ONLY place with one bar was the edge of the porch or on the main entrance road of the house
c. There are two heating systems in the house, one which heats the Garage with Cars which worked and one the rest of the house which did not. The Property Manager sent someone to look at it, after several calls from the Land Line from the Property Manager (I couldn't make calls but receive them on the house land line because the bill hadn't been paid) and several visits from the Gentleman sent by the Property manager, the heat worked for some time but died again. There was something wrong with it
d. Every time we would sit down on Couches anywhere, there were rat droppings or spiders EVERYWHERE. The general hygiene of this house is BEYOND APPALLING and is a HEALTH VIOLATION. (I mentioned this to the property manager when I called him and he disagreed)
e. There is NO exhaust in the Kitchen or any Smoke Detectors or Carbon Monoxide Detectors
f. EVERY SHEET and BED Smelled and one of the children ended up with a MASSIVE RASH (I have photos I would like to attach)
g. The bunk Beds are broken and not safe to sleep ( I have photos I'd like to attach)
h. It says there are 6-7 Bathrooms but You can ONLY shower in 3 places and one smells SO bad of mold, You'd puke
- THIS HOUSE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN BEFORE someone ends up with a MASSIVE infection
- There isn't a SINGLE area of the house that is CLEAN or HYGENIC
- EVERY SINGLE PERSON who stayed here left in a bad mood and it COMPLETELY RUINED OUR EXPERIENCE. We came here looking forward to spending time here but were EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with HOW POOR the Quality of the House was.
- NO ONE SHOULD STAY HERE EVER until the place has been scrubbed CLEAN
- I can write more but have maxed out....

Excellent space for groups!
This place had everything we wanted for a two-night stay with a group. It's a large space with lots of options for sleeping arrangements, activities, and common spaces to spend time. As we left, our group's comment was "we can't wait to come back again soon!"

An amazing property for hosting large get-togethers
I had 40 friends to this cabin and it couldn't have worked out better. With a few blow up mattresses, all of us easily fit and were able to use the large hosting spaces (including the Gym, hot tub, and game room) to have a relaxing weekend. We loved how close it was to the city (5min or less) and yet how secluded it felt. Definitely coming back!

Perfect for a family reunion
Our family reunion for 33 , ages 4 months to 89 years, couldn't have been better. There was plenty to do from basketball indoors, , group dancing in the basketball court and viewing travel videos upstairs. Lots of room for chatting and enjoying meals.

Lodge was dirty, mattresses bad, couches dirty and worn out. General neglect of property.
Beautiful setting but lodge was dirty and neglected. Misrepresented in pictures on site. We have examples of dirt and safety code violations. Very over priced. The lodge is huge but usable spaces are limited. Vomit and mold smells are prevalent. We feel a refund would be appropriate. We’re happy to provide more detail if necessary.

A fantastic place to stay!
Came here with a group of 20 and had an excellent stay. The place is equipped with everything we needed, was easy to get to, and had many fun activities for us. Definitely worth your time and money to check out this wonderful spot.
