An absolutely wonderful cottage in fantastic grounds.
An absolutely wonderful cottage in fantastic grounds. A real country getaway. We enjoyed a lovely winter pre-Christmas break here and it was a great base from which to explore North Norfolk and the coast. The grounds of the estate in which the cottage sits are beautiful, with lots of walks without getting in the car. The cottage is so cosy and inviting that you don’t need to leave if you don’t want to. The cottage is full of old style charm but with all the modern fixtures and fittings you could possibly need. A lovely stay and will be back for sure.

Due to COVID amenities were not at there best .
Due to COVID amenities were not at there best . We were able to visit national trust properties. Closeness of Cromer was good and visited. Oak hall was wonderful, with the laughing ducks at night and the owls, being able to step out on to walks was great.

This cottage is in the most stunning location imaginable.
This cottage is in the most stunning location imaginable. Right behind the cottage is a medieval church set in woodland, in front the land runs down to a lake, and beyond the lake is a river. There is a knot-garden of beautifully clipped box and yew in front of the main house, and by the lake are water-gardens. The whole estate is maintained to perfection - no wonder it is a popular venue for weddings. The cottage is warm, comfortable and well-equipped. The bedrooms are very small, but that's a small disadvantage compared to the quietness and beauty of the setting. Be aware that there's actually no vehicular access to the cottage, so you have to carry your things about 100 yards from the car.

The cottage is spotless, well maintained, with some lovely features such as the beautiful windows.
The grounds are very lovely. Walled gardens, lots of water, beautifully tended.
However, I think it really should be made clear on the website and at time of booking that the cottage shares the grounds with a wedding venue, and that wedding bookings are taken alongside holiday bookings.
And if the owners are happy to take both bookings simultaneously, then they must also be prepared for both parties to be slightly disadvantaged. I’m pretty sure the bride and groom didn’t appreciate my 3 year old tearing up and down the lawn during their drinks reception. And likewise, I wasn’t thrilled to have tipsy strangers coming to the cottage door looking for toilets.

We have just enjoyed a delightful weekend at Oxnead Hall Cottage.
We have just enjoyed a delightful weekend at Oxnead Hall Cottage. The setting is absolutely idyllic and the views are a total treat to wake up to. The owners are incredibly friendly and hospitable and the cottage is exceptionally well equipped. If you’re looking to get away from it all and enjoy some country air then this is undoubtedly the place to go. We would happily return minus a few essentials as the cottage had plenty with a beautiful artisan loaf and scones on arrival to boot! Fantastic weekend!
