The beautiful hamlet of Beckermonds is positioned in the very heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. This detached holiday cottage makes an ideal retreat from everyday life, being one of only five dwellings in this secluded location. Beckermonds, from the ‘Old Norse’, means the ‘meeting of the streams’. It is here, at the confluence of Oughtershaw and Greenfield becks, that the River Wharfe starts its journey through Langstrothdale, into Upper Wharfedale and then continues to define one of the most celebrated dales. Right outside the door are memorable walking opportunities set amid breath-taking scenery, as well as private fly fishing nearby (trout, free of charge, Mar-Sep). The private, enclosed, dog friendly, west facing garden is a glorious sun trap on summer evenings, from where you can expect to see rare red squirrels and a variety of wildlife.
Contained within a 5-mile easy walking radius, you will find three quintessential dales pubs. Why not visit them together in an 11-mile circuit walk? The market town of Hawes is only 7 miles away and offers shops, pubs, restaurants, tea rooms, banks and a chemist, as well as a traditional British fish and chip restaurant. Hawes is also the home to the famous Hawes Creamery, makers of Wallace and Gromits favourite Wensleydale cheese. Shop 5 miles, pub and restaurant 4 miles.
This property can be booked together with East House Farm (UK2213) to accommodate up to 12 guests.
Free WiFi
The water is from a spring, well or borehole, and not a mains supply.
Only dogs allowed at the property.

Idyllic, cosy with all the special touches to make you feel at home. The added touch of board games and basic breakfast supplies was lovely. Really spacious communal living room and gorgeous master bedroom - what a special place!

The property was scrupulously clean and there were lots of very detailed instructions . The welcome pack was not as good as we had hoped ( no eggs ) but they did provide masses of bottled water in case you didn't fancy drinking the spring water . The fire was very necessary and one evening's fuel was provided but they advise bringing your own supply of coal as it is quite a drive to the nearest shops. The house was very well equiped and everything worked well except that the shower, although hot , had very little pressure. There are an awful lot of sheep around everywhere which is a consideration if you want to walk with a dog

5 for for local amenities but this is a very unfair score, as should be N/A as there are none, which is perfect as far as we were concerned!!

Main problem was it is a 20min+ drive on a windy often single vehicle lane to get anywhere
Would be better if TV were bigger
Electric showers are not the best but it was OK as they go
Overall we liked the cottage & had a very pleasent short break

Just returned from a lovely week long stay at woods barn.
Just returned from a lovely week long stay at woods barn. We were blessed by fabulous weather on the most part and the location for getting around most of the dales was fab. We visited lots of places and had enjoyable days out. Couple of slight negatives - during our stay we had been informed that swallows/swifts were nesting in the windows of two of the bedrooms outside. Due to this, we were advised not to open windows. This wouldn’t have been a problem if fans had been provided but left us feeling rather uncomfortable during the heatwave. Lovely exposed beams in the bedrooms adding real character but the centre beam in the master bedroom seems to have a wood lice problem. I looked up one night and saw 5 on the ceiling - at first I thought they were moths until one fell onto my pillow. Really gave me the creeps and could see them crawling in and out most of the night. We made ample use of the washing machine provided with 2 kids in tow but would have loved somewhere outside to dry the clothes rather than have to use the dryer - this seemed counter productive and costly given the beautiful weather. Final con was the huge bush to the right of the back door. It’s beautiful but absolutely swarming with bees/flies. The tree is starting to overhang the steps up to the picnic bench and was irritating trying to eat outside as we were swarmed most of the time as was the cottage if the back door was left open for air. All being said it wouldn’t stop us from booking again - just a few minor tweaks in my opinion to make it perfect.

The location is stunning.
The location is stunning. It's an Ideal base to explore the surrounding countryside. The cottage is beautiful, really spacious and has everything you need to make it a comfortable stay. I booked a grocery delivery for our arrival and we fit most of our food in the decent sized fridge/freezer.
It's perfect for hikers with a dog as it has a large enclosed garden. we travelled over to Hawes and Aysgarth falls which were within easy reach.
The cottage is great value for money, a welcome pack included a bottle of wine which was a lovely surprise; we will definitely be booking it again.

The cottage is in a stunning location and was great for a bank holiday get away from the usual city hustle and bustle! The owners were amazing, we had a query about the freezer (its kept beeping when the door was open) they responded quickly and checked in again in the morning to make sure that it was no longer an issue.
Everything we needed to use the fire and bbq was provided with an honesty box which meant we didn't have to worry about going out to find bits for it which we may have forgotten.
Were excited to book again to go next year

Beautiful barn in a stunning location. If you want total peace and quiet then this is the place. Lovely wood burner which is essential for that warm cosy feel. Surprisingly spacious bedrooms and bathroom and lovely decor throughout. Excellent location in the centre of the Dales to reach lots of places of interest but plenty of walks from the doorstep too. Would recommend and hope to return at some point.

Amazing cottage with fantastic facilities, the cottage had everything to make you feel at home.
Amazing cottage with fantastic facilities, the cottage had everything to make you feel at home. It was clean and well furnished. The kitchen was brilliantly equipped, wish it had been warmer to use the picnic basket set!
Sky TV was great for the twins and the wood burner was great for us adults.
The beds were really comfortable. The stair gate was also very useful with 2 2 year olds.
The cottage is in an amazing location with beautiful scenery all around. We felt totally detached from the world once we returned from our daily trips. The cottage is in a great location to travel to various tourist resorts with out traveling for too long.
The local farmer was lovely he let the twins sit on his tractor :)
