Historic. Very comfortable beds, incredible view. Very clean. My cousins visited from Mora, Sweden and thoroughly enjoyed this cottage. They loved the neighborhood and the friendly faces they met during their stay. Thank you Browns Point

I booked over a year in advance to return to the Keepers Cottage. My nieces asked me if we could go again. I love old things so this place is right up my alley.
The first thing I do is open all the windows and let the salt air breeze through and flap the lace curtains.

Unique experience. Incredible location at the lighthouse park. Comfortable historic cottage. Great hosts. Of course, there are people visiting the park, but that's part of the charm. Loved staying here.

First things first. This is an absolute gem!! We arrived just as the sun was going down and the ensueing golden hour was our first glimpse at the cottage. The gardens! We literally gasped in delight.
On the inside, it is obvious that this cottage was lovingly maintained and restored with care. The beds were soft, we slept deeply and were awakened by the honk of geese overhead. That afternoon, there was a small party enjoying the shade of the willow tree out front and having a baby shower

We are four friends of a certain age. This is the third lighthouse where we have stayed. The location was perfect. We enjoyed walking on the beach, cooking meals, reading, and relaxing. The house had everything we needed.

This lighthouse cottage is a treasure. It has period furniture, pictures with historical information, so many books on related topics from boats, lighthouses, and how life was experienced in this lighthouse. Watching ships coming and going from the Port of Tacoma, wonderful sunsets. Could not ask for a better experience.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the magic of this historical cottage, the surrounding marine life, and awe-inspiring views. I highly recommend going back in time for a few days to savor a more gentle world.

We enjoy staying here with family and spending time on the beach. Making meals and playing games. Only 1 bathroom can be challenging with a family, but love the location.

Comfortable beds, too!

We arrived and everything was clean and ready for us. The cottage was the perfect size for 6 of us. The kitchen was well stocked for our basic needs and we were able to purchase milk and other necessities. The host made sure to check in with us throughout the trip to make sure everything was going well and we had everything we needed. The beach was perfect for mornings and evenings of beach combing, watching the fishermen and the boats, or having a picnic. We can't wait to stay here again in the future! Thank you for an amazing experience!

My wife and I spent 4 nights in the cottage. The weather was absolutely beautiful and we had stunning sunsets every night! The Olympic mountains were painted with orange-red from the setting sun. In the early mornings, we saw seals and dolphins out in the water. While we enjoyed it, there were lots of people using the park and some stayed well beyond closing, which was a bit creepy.

We enjoyed our stay at the lighthouse cottage. The home is beautiful with antiques throughout and comfortable beds. The setting in Browns Point Lighthouse Park is nice. Highly recommend!

We absolutely loved our stay at the beautiful lighthouse cottage. The house and grounds are stunning and in excellent condition. We loved the views and watching the sunset at night. Easy parking, very clean, good beds, and good communication with staff. We enjoyed beach walks and watching the tugboats and fisherman. Serene and safe. It was an honor to be able to stay there.

Location, location, location! It is such a fun and beautiful property. It is right on the water with a beautiful view. The historic cottage is really cute. It has three bedroom (two up , one down) and the bathroom is downstairs. It is a popular destination for locals and families so I think that adds to the fun. But if you are wanting private, it really isn't that. The park closes the gate at dusk, so it is pretty quiet after that. I highly recommend.

This is such a unique property. My parents and brother stayed at the cottage and truly enjoyed their visit. They loved being able to explore the cottage and learn all about how life was for the lighthouse keeper. It is a museum and there are certain times of the year that there are tours during the weekend. My parents enjoyed watching the ships go by and all the wildlife that is around. It is a beautiful place and if you like to walk, there is North 47 Brewery, Browns Point Diner and the Lighthouse Market up the hill. If you're looking for a unique play to stay, this is it. Highly recommend!!

Property is fabulous historic destination, immaculately maintained. Appointments evoke times gone past, spanning roughly the 1890s to 1930s. Lots of intriguing artifacts from those eras in the house and outbuildings. Super support from the manager. Also be alert that this is not a private getaway opportunity: the grounds around the lightkeeper's residence are busy with visitors at all hours of the day. Also, the accommodations are charming but not ideal for elders and others with limited mobility. The house has a bedroom on first floor, which is a huge plus in this regard, but clawfoot bathtub in the one bathroom (which is also on the first floor) and narrow/right spaces make mobility tough even for users of walkers. Therefore, in sum, a great destination for folks appreciating history and views but less ideal for people with mobility issues.

Wonderful and cozy place to stay! We were there during a storm, it was amazing! People walk into the park area and are so friendly. Wonderful community. The accommodations were great. We had plenty of every thing. Some places we have stayed had what they call “starter kits.” Not this place! We had plenty of towels, blankets, TP, soap, etc. The hostess was extremely accessible for any needs we had. Very fun family staycation.

My mom loves lighthouses but Parkinson’s has made it difficult for her to travel anymore. This was a wonderful set up as there is a bedroom on the same floor as the rest of the living area so she could come stay here for the weekend! My dad can still climb stairs so he stayed in one of the upstairs rooms and I stayed in the other room. I was there to help my dad with my mom. We enjoyed the cottage and sat on the front porch our last afternoon watching the sailboats! The view is spectacular! There are lots of places to eat nearby in Federal Way or Tacoma. We had my mom’s wheelchair so she only needed to go up a few steps on the back porch when we went out. It was a memorable stay!

You'll Never Want to Leave
We loved everything about this property and Ali, the property manager.
For four adults, it was the perfect amount of space and included so many fun items to look at and reminisce about. The yard is amazing, with beautiful gardens and flowers that smell lovely.
Ali was so friendly and gave some great advice about the area and cottage.
Very peaceful and calming to sit on the porch in the morning and at sunset and look at the water and view. I could stay there all day.
Seriously considered seeing if we could extend our stay and sit there for a few more days!

Charmer
This house has so much charm. Lovely landscaped home with a view to die for. Beds are comfortable, kitchen well stocked and furnished with antiques. I would have like a recliner here because couch was very uncomfortable. Two rockers on front porch to watch Commencement bay. Shower was a hazard if you ask me. Cast iron tub with a shower curtain that clings to you as you shower. I found it difficult to get in and out of. Curtain was a tripping hazard and awkward. I don't know how they fix this when it is part of the older home feel. During the day the park that surrounds is filled with lots of people. Parking can be difficult but they have a designated spot. I thought the manager did a great job.

Wonderful Weekend Getaway with the Family
We spent the weekend together celebrating Mother's Day at the cottage. It was relaxing watching the wind surfers and humpback whales past day, plus near enough to great restaurants and breweries. We awoke to the sounds of the seal and sea lions playing. The sunsets were breathtaking and watching the lighthouse turn on became an evening ritual. Highly recommend!

Great stay at the lighthouse cottage
We enjoyed 3 nights at the Browns Point Lighthouse Cottage. The view is incredible, the house is lovely and it is interesting to learn the history of the Browns Point and the lighthouse keeper's job. The park is quiet even with people coming during the day to enjoy the area. You can explore Tacoma's museums, hang out on the beach, or enjoy sitting on the porch. The cottage has everything you need for a fun stay.

Lighthouse Keepers Quarters Winter Vacation
Unique and picturesque and very relaxed.
This was a planned post-Christmas weekend vacation with our son, daughter-in-law, and their 5 year old and 8 month old. We chose this property as the house was spacious for 6 people, full of antique atmosphere and history and with a beach and amazing view. It lived up to our expectations. At the
last minute the "kids" could not come so our only disappointment was not being able to share this unique experience with them.

Wonderful, peaceful stay, but onerous paperwork
I have family in the area and have admired this cottage, so I was thrilled to see it could be rented.
Overall, the stay was great. The kitchen is well stocked. The house is spacious and very charming, with great touches like a comfortable sitting room with a piano. There are great views from all over the house. The weather was rotten when we were there, but we felt cozy in the house, and we enjoyed the view of the sound with views of the moody water and sky. There were not many visitors to the park when we were there, maybe because of the weather, so it felt like we had this huge private seaside estate.
For the stay itself, the only caveat is that the upstairs rooms can get very cold in the winter. Even with the heat turned up such that the downstairs was very warm, the upstairs was frigid.
The only big negative was the paperwork at the beginning. After you fill out everything on VRBO, you get sent two documents, including a long one, that you are expected to print out, sign, scan, and send back. Then when you check in there is yet another document to sign--and your temperature gets taken. The items in the paperwork should have been put into the VRBO listing as house rules. If anything needs to be emphasized, it should be done verbally when checking in: people who are not going to read something on VRBO will not read it even when printed, and those of us who are careful will need to read some of the same items twice and will be needlessly worried about "requirements" in the document that turn out not to be enforced.

Wonderful Stay
We had a wonderful stay at this unique property. The house was clean and comfortable and property manager Ali was very friendly in welcoming us and giving us the lay of the land. The view was incredible and we loved looking for sea glass on the shore and watching the seals. We would absolutely recommend staying here!

Lighthouse Dreaming
My 3 sisters and I stayed at the keepers quarters for our annual sister’s trip. The setting was exquisite; ocean waves, sail boats, sea gulls overhead, the welcoming beacon. Couldn’t have asked for more. For the lighthouse collector in me, it was a dream come true.

Quiet Retreat
We enjoyed our stay. Enjoyed the fact that we did not have to watch TV to have fun. The scenery is beautiful, it was quiet, relaxing and just right for a short getaway and time with family.

Enjoyed being Lighthouse Keepers!
We enjoyed our stay at Brown's Point. The house is comfortable and it was fun walking around the area. We enjoyed the history, well-stocked kitchen, and watching the ships and seals. Ali made the check-in/check-out experience easy!

Surpassed my expectations
Before booking, I read many of the Reviews, which were all spot on! I will just add a few things that I do not recall reading. The landscaping around the house is so lovely-- thoughtfully planned and lovingly maintained. In fact, the entire property is very well-maintained.
We were lucky enough to be outside on the front porch when the President Vice President were on the grounds to show it to some City personnel, and we got a look into the Boat House, Bell Tower and Museum. When you stay here, you are staying in a functioning museum! The house is filled with relics of the past and gorgeous furniture.
If you like to fish from the shoreline, it is a top location for that, too.
We found some sand and built sandcastles.
Wonderful rocks to hop along (I have a 3 yr/old boy and he was in Heaven!) and a slew of large driftwood on the other side to climb.
We enjoyed watching the resident seals all day and at High Tide, you can see their whiskers... that is how close they come. Really, really fun. I would HIGHLY recommend a stay-- just perfect!
