Give yourself and your loved ones a break from the hustle and bustle, while you revel in the peace that surrounds this dog-friendly Durango retreat.
Located 16 miles from Durango, this scenic cabin allows you to leave your busy life behind for a while and enjoy the privacy of nature. During the winter, we recommend using a 4x4 vehicle to get here safely.
Wood accents and vaulted ceilings create a wide open main living area - the perfect spot to get together. Catch up with your favorite book as the wood stove warms the room, or choose a vinyl from the collection to play on the stereo-style turntable. With no WiFi or TV, you'll be able to connect with your guests and make some alpine memories.
The private washer/dryer will keep the dirty clothes at bay while you take Fido out on the deck to bask in the views. Spend the afternoon sipping a local brew as the sun dips past the trees.
Make dinner in the fully equipped kitchen while your guests kick back at the breakfast bar. Put the stainless steel appliances to work, and then dine on the deck while the dishwasher takes care of the cleanup.
This one-room (plus loft) one-bathroom home can sleep up to four guests and one small dog (please note a 60-pound weight limit). The bedroom on the main level features a queen-size bed, while the upstairs loft also has a soft queen-size bed for your guests.
The small building is set among the trees and offer the perfect spot to enjoy the serenity of the forest.
Pack a snack and explore the trails that weave through the San Juan National Forest. Fly fish or kayak along the Animas River. Enjoy a seasonal brew or two and a night out at the Steamworks Brewery in Durango, and take to the slopes at Purgatory Resort.
Give yourself a break from the hustle and bustle with a tranquil trip to this Colorado retreat!

Place was clean. Quiet. sitting on the deck and watching shooting stars was a highlight. Little coffee shop( meadow market) on the way into Durango gets a star!
I would highly recommend this cabin.

Private with lovely wooded surroundings. Steep road but fine for Subaru Outback. No traffic or noise. Great deck.

My husband and his buddy were the guests. They said it was a beautiful mountain setting and the cabin was very nice. Truly met their expectations of a mountain getaway spot and the cabin met the description. Cell phone reception was spotty at best but that helped with unplugging for a few days. Vacasa management was very responsive to questions. Would recommend this cabin to others looking for a beautiful spot to retreat.

Well organized and wonderful property. Well thought out items made for an enjoyable experience that we will keep on our short list of vacation properties.

Pros: Privacy, great views, and the outdoor space is exceptional. That’s where this ends.
Cons: one word can describe this place. FILTHY. This place is covered in cob webs. On the ceiling fans. On the overhangs holding the pots and pans. When you first walk into the property you are greeted with the smell of mildew from the washer and dryer. The blinds fell off the front door as soon as we opened it.
The blind sun the whole property are extremely old. In the main bedroom downstairs they replaced what seems like a broken pull cord of a blind with a rusty screw, which we almost cut our hand on.
They have a guest book and it shows others months prior have complained about cleanliness and they’ve done nothing to address it.
The beds are extremely uncomfortable. Old furniture, uncomfortable pillows. I could go on. Very disappointed and won’t be back.

Very nicely appointed cabin and great record collection! Very
Peaceful sitting out on deck!

The cabin and location itself are stunning, could have been a little cleaner as we saw some dust bunnies and dead spiders about. Some of the dishes were not clean and had food residue. The wood stove and record player were a great way to spend our evenings. The cabin is situated on a steep hill but with no snow our AWD Subaru Legacy was able to go up and down it just fine. The area itself was quiet and remote- about 25 minutes from Durango proper. I recommend planning ahead for meals as the grocery stores in town charge an arm and a leg, not to mention the restaurants. All in all my husband, dog, and I enjoyed our much needed getaway.

Perfect place to unwind! The selection of records was impressive!

This cabin was so cute and cozy, the vinyl collection was so fun to go through and listen to. Even though it was a little chilly inside there was plenty of blankets and firewood to help warm the place up.
4.6
At first we were concerned about how cold it would be inside. Yup, we even brought extra blankets. The provided space heaters helped a lot until we got the wood stove burning. Then, it is as nice and toasty. We didn't need those blankets for our entire stay. That stove kicks out tons of heat!
Upon first sight the cabin looked very clean but it could use a good dusting. There were cobwebs on the light fixtures, loft railing, etc. The dishes were lacking too. And replace the pots and pans. They're not usable. Glad we brought our own. Hand soap in the kitchen would have been nice.
Please provide a dining table and chairs for conversing, games, puzzles, etc. Sitting at a counter is not condusive for any of these and you only have 3 stools anyway for a cabin that sleeps 4. We found this to be shortsighted.
When the listing mentions the steep, potentially difficult drive up, believe it! We arrived after dusk, and even with a 4 wheel drive, not being able to see well, it was iffy in spots. The drive when we left, in full light, revealed what we encountered. Whoa! Let's just say it was revealing.
The bed was very comfy. We slept well. It is super peaceful and quiet here. Your cares dissolve away. Be sure to enjoy the outstanding views from the deck. You'll want to stay much longer. If it had not been winter we would have venture further outside to enjoy more of this little slice of heaven.
Overall a wonderful and fantastic stay! Thanks, Vacasa (and , of course, the owners)!

Yes there are spides gree how could that be , your in the woods. If you like quiet come here. Did you just get married come here. If you need a place to be romantic come here. Yes there are things to do lots of things.

Loved the view and the turntable/albums

Peaceful and just what we needed. Wish we could of stayed longer. The bed was a little hard for our tastes but we have no complaints other than that. We loved to come back again.
4.6
This location was quiet and beautiful. The cabin was clean and well-stocked. We never heard or saw the neighbors. This location is close to all the places we wanted to go.

We loved this place.

Overall we enjoyed the experience

The view was no doubt worth everything but we cannot pass the fact that when we arrived and settled for our first night, securing the doors, the lock at the back doesn’t work. It’s broken. They sent people to fix the lock the next day but don’t have the parts and said will come back but they never did. I had to sleep in the sofa each night just to make sure we’re safe and no one’s attempting to break in. Throughout the duration of our stay we have to bring most of our important belongings in our truck because the back door is still broken. Other issues we had were the bed comforters/duvet in each room and throw pillows in the living room. They’r dirty and looks like they haven’t been washed in a while. Also, we understand it’s a pet friendly cabin but the place seemed like it hasn’t been vacuumed for pet hair removal in a while. We also found a lot of flies in the bathroom, rooms and living room, and some of them are falling on the floor and is just not good for a family with little ones.
4.6
Not super clean, missing essentials like additional toilet tissue, fire making supplies, clothes soap. Wood was not gathered at back door like last stay at this property. The thermostat was fixed at 54° which is 10 degrees colder than last stay at this property. Pots and pans were unusuable as the teflon coating was destroyed. Tried to contact property manager twice, by text and email with no reply. Overall a very disappointing and cold stay. We left 2 days early.

Very peaceful home. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you

Remote but close enough to town. Couldn't beat the view off the deck. The record collection was awesome.
4.6
We loved the beautiful cabin itself and the gorgeous view. Lots to do nearby if you want to hike and see other towns in the area or Mesa Verde. This is definitely someone’s happy place and it became ours for a few days on our Colorado road trip.
4.6
We loved the view off the deck! If you want unplugged relaxation then this is where you’ll find it.
4.6
Overall we Enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It had all the things needed for our stay. The location is close enough to town but quite and serene. The only cons I would mention is that the bed in main bedroom was very firm and the water had a strange oder.
4.6
Such a beautiful quiet cabin, so peaceful. Could have stayed in the hammock for days.
4.6
The house was incredible and the views astounding. The hammock on the deck was a nice surprise. The deck is fantastic. Not having TV or Internet was great. You are truely unplugged. It was nice listening to the classic vinyl. Thank you!

We are a family of three with two dogs. We spent 7 nights at this cabin and really enjoyed our stay. The views are amazing (the cabin backed up to the forest with no neighbors) and despite their being neighbors on both sides, we didn't hear or see them.
The cabin had everything we needed to make the stay comfortable. No internet or TV which didn't bother us. We brought our hot spot which worked fine. We played games which are plentiful at the cabin, and just enjoyed the evenings on the deck after a day of hiking or sight seeing.
We rated this cabin a 4 because it could use some updating (new pots and pans, linens) and because of the cleaning. It was surface clean but needs additional attenion (couches need to be cleaned, furniture moved, carpets/floor rugs cleaned).
Overall, we recommend this cabin.

The cabin has amazing views! Definitely started off every morning on the deck with a cup of coffee, and ended the day the same but with a glass of wine. It is so quiet and peaceful up here, perfect place to unplug! It was so nice to just throw on some records from their awesome vinyl collection and just play games or have it play in the background while we cooked. My daughter loved the yoga studio as well which was super charming. Overall a great place to stay if you’re looking to get away from the day to day grind and just unplug!!

Quiet and (mostly) secluded
There is a neighbor close by, but we never heard or saw them. Nice cabin and a great stay for our anniversary trip.

VERY cute and cozy. Amazing book collection. Even more amazing views. And it snowed so we got our own winter wonderland! When you go, definitely read all the info in the folder!! It tells you everything you need to know. The only thing I wish was different was that the light switches were labeled. There were some I still had no idea what they were for. But that's really not a big deal. I was scared about there being no TV or WiFi, but I just ended up spending more time outside and reading inside. It was extremely relaxing and rejuvenating. I would stay again in a heartbeat.

Our Second Time…
This was our second stay and once again the propriety didn’t disappoint! It’s the perfect space to spend quality time as a family since there is no Wi-Fi or Tv. It’s a cozy, privately located cabin with beautiful views. The kids enjoyed sledding down the sloped property and an unused road across the street. We plan to stay again next year.
