About this vacation rental
This is a stunning house with beautiful views of the Deer Isle Thoroughfare. The main living area is a true great room with fireplace, game table, dining area and a very well appointed kitchen. The master bedroom with queen-size bed, is on the first floor and looks out toward the ocean and also toward a quiet cove.
On the second floor are two more bedroom, one with a queen size bed and the other with twin beds. Each upstairs bedroom has a small loft. At the top of the stairs and overlooking the great room is a loft with desk and fax machine. It is a great spot to work with your computer. A large deck faces the water and a path leads to our fabulous lobster picnic rock, The Giant's Chair, on the shore. You can swim from our rocks or walk to a little beach next door. The house will accommodate six very comfortably. If you wish to sleep more than that, we will need to discuss it. Smoking and Animals are NOT Permitted, but well-behaved children (over the age of six) and adults are always welcome.
You will find the kitchen set up for people who enjoy cooking. There are plenty of work areas and professional pots and pans. The library is well stocked with books on the area, children's books, mysteries, and the best of the books which my book group has read over the past couple of years. There are plenty of puzzles and games. We are a family that enjoys music and games like charades and dictionary, so you will find a good stereo, but you will not find a TV. This is a place for a true vacation!
The house is located on a very private piece of land. The beautiful fishing village of Stonington is within walking distance but you are not subjected to the traffic and noise. There are fine restaurants on the island, and we keep a list of our favorites handy for you. The mail boat leaves right from Stonington for day hiking in Acadia Park on Isle Haut. The island has several good nature preserves with hiking trails. There are also tennis courts and a nine hole golf course on the island. For those interested in the arts, Haystack School of Crafts and many galleries are close by.
This is a great place for nature lovers. There are paths on the property, and the Giant's Chair, a huge rock on the shore, is a great place for an outdoor lobster feast. Regardless of what you are escaping from, we are sure you will find this home a relaxing place to spend your vacation.

I feel very lucky to have been able to stay here with my family. The house is amazing with the large open space and windows. This is not a stripped down rental, and that makes you feel at home in the house. There was also everything needed for cooking and living for the week. The kids were able to run around the property and back yard, and it’s a short walk to the beach which was perfect.

This was the best place to stay in Deer Isle! Judith was very communicative, checked in to see if we needed anything and gave us great suggestions on restaurants and places to visit. Magical to be in Maine in the Fall, less crowds, relaxing and beautiful!!

Fantastic property and location! Bring your binoculars to watch the fishing boats and sailboats! Buy lobster & local oysters in Stonington! May well be the nicest VRBO we have ever stayed at.

We have stayed in many places on the island and this is the best.

We enjoyed a very nice 2 week stay at this beautiful home and property. The views, special outdoor places on the property as well as the warm and attractive gathering places in the home made our stay on Deer Isle that much special. The home is very well equipped and maintained. The home and property are magnificent and close to town. Stonington surprisingly has more going on than most small towns in Maine (even in September).

Beautiful home situated down a long driveway on the coast. The views from inside the house were so lovely. Sit on the deck with coffee in the morning or wine in the evening and soak in the view. Walk down to the water and get even more spectacular views. Gorgeous sunsets. Lovely gardens around the house with flowers and produce shared so generously by the owners. Well equipped kitchen for cooking meals there. Nice big fireplace. Cell service was iffy and seemed to work better outside. Wifi was no problem. Owner is very communicative and helpful. Location is great--about 8 min drive into town and a grocery store even closer. Highly recommend this home.

Beautiful property, well-designed home, gorgeous views. Excellent privacy (and no road noise). Kitchen is well-stocked and usable. Highly recommended. We hope to return next summer.
Some hints for renters:
-If you want kayaks or paddleboards, reserve delivery from a local shop well in advance
-If you are hoping to get a reservation at Aragosta, call months in advance
-If you have a portable hammock, bring it.
-Don't miss Isle au Haut.

A co worker and I had the pleasure of staying atand working remotely from this lovely home and property. The views and coastine are STUNNING. What a magical place to wake up to each morning. The home is well appointed, warm, inviting and has amazing art throughout. It is spacious with plenty of places to cozy up and relax, or in our case, work. I definitely would stay here again. Thank you!

My husband, two teenage kids, and I were looking for a place that was off the beaten path, where we could distance work and learn for part of the day and then go exploring in the afternoons. This home and its grounds surpassed our expectations. There are many beautiful hikes to explore on Deer Isle and the easy walk to the market and to Stonington became enjoyable daily routines. Although we missed out on Judith's garden and the majority of shops and restaurants which had closed up for the season, we got the gorgeous fall foliage and uncrowded treks in Acadia National Park. On the few occasions that it rained, we were happy to enjoy the coziness of the home, the roaring fires in the fireplace, the comfortable well-appointed spaces and a well-stocked library. We are so fortunate to have found such a beautiful place. Thank you!

amazing vacation spot -- gorgeous waterfront property, extremely comfortable and well-equipped home, friendly and helpful host - we love exploring Deer Isle and Stonington but this home was so beautiful and fantastically well-situated that with the exception of kayaking (launched from the property) we rarely left - we had everything we needed right there for a wonderfully restorative and memorable vacation

Feels like having the owner looking over you with so much family paraphrenalia. This could be a plus or a minus depending on your point of view.

We had an amazing time staying at the Deer Isle property. The home is cozy and comfortably slept and entertained our extended generation party. Our kids loved playing in the woods and by the sea and exploring the extent of the property and Deer Isle. My husband caught a mackeral right off the beach! The location is very convenient to Stonington, a General Store, a public beach, and miles of hiking trails and woods. Not to mention the home has its own ocean access. The property owner Judith is always available for questions and also encourages you to take advantage of the vegetables growing in the garden. The home is comfortable, spacious, well appointed, and has fantastic windows to take advantage of the glorious view. We are looking forward to the next stay!

We truly enjoyed our stay at Judith's place, probably our last family vacation with our grown up kids for a long time. Best cup of coffee early in the morning on the deck with the view! Unreal peace and quiet. No TV a big plus, and yes, you can walk to the town. Well kept and clean house. Will come back!!!
