This is a beautiful home a great place to stay if you're looking for a peaceful piece of paradise.

We enjoyed every minute of our stay! A little difficult to find in the dark since the entrance to the property is dark, and it’s at the very end of the road. The caretaker (Jeovani) was absolutely amazing; bringing firewood each night for our burn pit as well as lighting bug repellents of several types to help deter Costa Rica’s natural fauna which is inescapable, to hanging hammocks for us to enjoy the daily Atenas winds and bringing fresh fruits from the property of several types! The house was clean and well provisioned for kitchen utensils and supplies. The property dog is friendly and playful, but is a puppy and can be a little playfully nippy. Each bedroom has its own bathroom which was a huge plus for our travel mates. I highly recommend this space for all family and friend get togethers. We used this property as a central home base while traveling to other areas during our almost two week stay.

I can't rave enough about this property. I am booking my next one right MEOW!! I will return again and again. The house manager Giovanni was the absolute best. Bring citronella as you are in the jungle away from the beaten path, but still so close to everything. The pool at sunrise is an experience to be had... What a lovely stay we had. Kitchen has EVERYTHING you need. Toucans flying every morning and evening!!! The hammocks!! TAKE ME BACK!!

This was a beautiful home and very resort like with the infinity pool and breathtaking views. Great service from Valerie and geoavoni! They went above and beyond to make sure our vacation was perfect!

Our family of 13 stayed in Atenas for 5 weeks while we adopted 5 children from Costa Rica. This home was the highlight of our trip! There were plenty of things to do around the property to keep everyone entertained. We played pool, ping pong, picked fresh fruit from the orchard on the property, played soccer, took nature hikes, multiple dips in the vanishing edge pool, and soaked in the views from our terrace overlooking San Jose.
The entrance onto the property is magical and takes you back to a very private estate surrounded by orchards of fruit trees, and natural vegitation. The wildlife is incredible especially the birds... My wife and I would sip coffee in the morning watching the sunrise, and absorbing the sounds and sights of macaws, and all kinds of beautiful birds.
The house is situated off of a gravel road but we didn't have any trouble getting Ubers, taxis, and turismo vans to pick us up. The town of Atenas is nearby and is very quaint with restaurants, ice cream shops, banks, and a park.
**TOP 5 CLIMATE IN THE WORLD **. The entire 5 weeks we were there (Jan - Feb) it only rained 1 day and the breezes and sunrises were incredible.
THE BEST REASON TO RENT THIS HOME - Is Valerie the home owner & Giovanni the groundsmen. EXTREMELY accommodating, friendly, helpful, and willing to do whatever it takes to make your experience magical. We will be back 100%.
ps. For ex-pats or Americans - Atenas is a very safe town and area. It has many retired Americans and Canadians that live in and around the area. So rest assured that it is a great place for families to stay. Water is also safe to drink.
Valerie even helped with arranging a cook to help our family during this time.

PROS
This is a beautiful house on a huge property. The landscaping was impeccable, and Giovanni was always around to assist with any issues we had but he speaks no English. We were 9 people and there was plenty of space for everyone with lots of separate spaces for people to hang out. If you are looking for seclusion then this is a great option.
The kitchen has lots of space and all of the amenities you need to cook, including a BBQ. Bring your own supplies, salt, pepper, spices, oil, butter and so on and you can cook anything. There was a basket of fruit from the trees on the property awaiting us as well as a bag of coffee and packs of sugar and whitener. This was a pleasant surprise.
The property is picturesque. The nature is abundant, including several resident cane toads, which like to come visit. Which is fine so long as you don't squeeze them and touch their poison glands on their back. There are so many birds that you should bring binoculars. We spent time in the pool every day. It was fantastic to take a dip after long day trips. Almost all activities are an hour and a half minimum, so 3 hours round trip. Jaco was one of the highlights, beautiful beach and fun touristy town with lots of shopping and restaurants.
CONS
As beautiful as this house is the location is challenging. The roads to the house are winding, bumpy and dusty. The time it takes to get to activities is a bit longer than listed on the site. I would add 30 min to all of the times shown.
The beds in the house are very firm. The bedding is limited but we went in March so it was hot and the sheet provided was usually enough. There are fans in every bedroom which helps.
The WiFi is a bit dodgy. We had 4 teenagers and an 11-year-old Fortnite junkie. There was a battle for WiFi daily, but for the most part people could text and look at Instagram. Streaming YouTube or games was possible if only one person was on. As an adult I didn't mind the lack of WiFi but the kids squawked.
The nature is beautiful and plentiful but also noisy. Haha. The cane toads were very loud, the birds start at about 4am and the insects like to sing. I would recommend earplugs and an eye-mask but I might be a bit particular about sleep.
As lovely as the house is, it is dated. I would say the house is about 30 years old so some of the glass doors didn't slide, or were foggy. The appliances were older but functional.
Overall, our experience was lovely.

This open and spacious home was off the beaten path, but close enough to town for groceries and restaurants as well as other sight-seeing events. It wasn't quite warm enough to use the pool, but we spent much of our time on the deck enjoying the scenery and wildlife. Giovanni was a gracious host. The bird-watching was spectacular! I would certainly stay here again.

My family had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration with the incredible views and ample space at this property. The kitchen was well stocked and we found everything needed to make a perfect big celebration meal. Valerie offered to get food from the store if we needed, but since she helped us arrange a car at a fair price we were able to drive around when we wanted to do some errands and get what we needed and wanted. We were able to travel to ziplining as well as the beach on one day trips and return each night to our beautiful home. Giovanni lives on site and was always there to be a help to us in any way possible. He keeps the grounds really tidy every day. There are so many usable common spaces in this house as well as rooms to have quiet down time. Perfect for families to share. I would return.

El Cielo is a showcase house on a magnificent property. We were 2 families traveling together, my college roommate and I, for a total of 4 adults and 5 kids who ranged in age from 5 to 12 years old. As stunning as this house is, it was still very kid friendly - they ran in and out of the house and around the yard and couldn't hurt anything. We all had a wonderful time using the pool.
There were 2 bedrooms with king size beds so neither couple had to compromise on space and the other bedrooms had 2 twin beds each which allowed us flexibility in how to arrange the kids.
The common areas and outside areas were generous and comfortable places to sit and relax and watch the nature. We saw birds, we watched the clouds dip down into the valley each morning and we thoroughly enjoyed watching a rain storm roll in one afternoon. There are also the nice touches of board games and bird identifying cards in the living room cabinet, and a pool table.
The kitchen was well appointed with appliances, pots & pans, cups, plates & utensils. There was also a grill we used to cookout our last evening there. The dining table was able to seat us all at once.
The property was so beautiful and our walks around it were nature lessons - all sorts of fruit and flowering trees, even coffee plants. We saw hummingbirds and toucans!
Valerie is a gracious hostess who checked in on us via text. And there is a full-time caretaker at El Cielo which was such a wonderful peace of mind - we didn't need to know how to do anything at the house, he opened up each morning and closed down each night, and answered our random questions.

We had such an amazing stay at the house. The photos do not do it justice!
The home is very large and the layout is fantastic especially for a larger group. We would highly recommend the home to anyone else and would definitely stay there again.
