Removed from the resort beachfront crowds, the 2 acre Banyan Tree simply overflows with peace and Hawaiiana. Giant Banyan, Monkeypod and Jacaranda trees create perfect shady spots to lounge or sun lovers can enjoy spectacular ocean and mountain views while hanging out around the large pool.
We are just a mile to the quaint cowboy town of Makawao and a 15 drive down to Paia, both of which are brimming with restaurant choices and boutiques. Paia is also home to some of the best beaches on the island.
For those whose taste leans a bit more adventurous than beach days, upcountry Maui is also known for its hiking and mountain biking. Between Poli Poli, Haleakala National Park, and the Makawao Forest Reserve, you will have more than enough exploration options for your trip.

This was an excellent property for our family reunion. We stayed in 7 bedrooms with attached baths. The kitchen and dining rooms were large enough to accommodate our needs. The kids loved the on-site pool and ping pong table. The location was central to all the activities we took advantage of. Being close to the airport (as well as Costco) was an added advantage as we made multiple pickup trips to the airport. The check-in and check out with Helaina was a breeze. We had no issues and would highly recommend this property for large groups.

We needed a place to stay in Maui that could accommodate our group of 16 people consisting of 6 separate family groups. We preferred to say near the center of Maui so we could make excursions to various attractions. Makawao was the perfect location for this and the Banyan Tree Bed and Breakfast exceeded our expectations. The individual suites are private and the main home living room, dining room and kitchen were large enough for our entire group to gather together. The pool is very large and was fantastic; our grandkids and family had a great time swimming. The lawn is large and was a great place for the grandkids to play. The grandkids also loved the ping pong table in the sunroom.
The landscaping and views are spectacular. We could not be more pleased with this property and everyone had a great experience. We want to return there in the future.

We were a family of 13 and this property was perfect for our Hawaiian vacay! Lots of lush greenery and flowers, open space for the kids to play, pool and hot tub that we all enjoyed and the main house was large enough for us all to gather in. The kitchen was large and spacious and had everything we needed to make meals. And the location was excellent! Centrally located to all the sites and beaches on Maui and 20 minutes from the airport. Our host, Helaina, was lovely and very responsive to any questions or needs that we had. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others without reservation!

A wonderful experience, a fabulous host and an all-around amazing time. It felt like coming home, and there was enough space for all of us, and nobody was on top of one another. This property was an amazing oasis for our large group. Plenty of beds and separate areas for relaxing. The backyard was very large and fun for our children to play in. The pool is much larger than it seems in the pictures and on the days we used it we had a lot of fun. The kitchen was nicely stocked with basic spices, and provided ample space for cooking. Having laundry available was also a nice amenity! We would absolutely stay here again and look forward to returning someday!

Helaina's banyan tree paradise was the perfect place for our annual work retreat, and a great vacation spot for large groups! It met all our needs-- clean, spacious property with plenty of rooms for individuals and couples, kitchen stockful of supplies to cook our meals, large communal living space to hold our informal work meeting, and a beautiful pool and outdoor space to relax in. Great location only 15 minutes from the airport and walking distance to downtown Makawao and a local tequila distillery. Highly recommend!

A great place for a family vacation! We had a large family vacation planned and this was the perfect spot! Enough room for everyone to have their own space and for everyone to gather together as well! The space was gorgeous and we enjoyed cooking meals and eating together! We would highly recommend it! The hosts were very accommodating and quick to respond when we had any questions or needed anything!

Thirteen of us gathered for a 6-night stay at this phenomenal property. The property grounds were gorgeous, the home was spacious and well equipped. The main kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals. We loved having coffee out by the pool each morning and appreciated the fresh fruit brought over from the property manager. We were minutes from downtown Makawao and about a 20 minute drive to the local beaches. The bedrooms could use some heavier blankets and more towels but otherwise we were very happy with our stay.

4 families total 14 people stayed at this place and we all had an amazing time!! Communication with the owner went great and she was always responsive. One family couldn’t come to the trip but she worked out a refund for us by closing off one of the rooms. She even bought a new rice cooker for us!! Thank you so much for the great hospitality.

Check in and communication were flawless. The property was better than expected. Plenty of room for our large family with gorgeous views, enormous pool and well supplied kitchen. The town nearby was perfect for coffee, bakery items and local shopping. Nothing was far away and we enjoyed snorkeling, zip lining, hiking, and beautiful sunsets. The chickens on property were a bonus.
Local coffee shop and bakery were amazing. Every bedroom had a pod coffee machine but the only place we found to buy pods was Costco. They did have a drip coffee maker in the main kitchen. Laundry was $6 per load. We all agreed we would return to this same location in a heartbeat. Prayers for Maui.

When our family of 12 arrived at the Banyan Tree House, we felt as if we were at the heart of nature. The property was breathtaking with all of the colorful trees and foliage. A cute little Rooster and hen were walking around the place with their feathered feet. They woke some of us each morning to start the day early doing yoga , walking and looking at the mountains and ocean in the distance.
Our family had so many plans when we arrived here but our plans changed to staying here and enjoying all this place had to offer.
There were fruits, vegetables and beautiful foliage on the property. All of this surrounded the big pool, hot tub and outside shower, as well as, the house and four cottages. We immediately began relaxing by the pool. Noone wanted to get groceries for the grill but two finally did
There were two swings. One swing and lemon tree were hanging from the humongous Banyan tree.
The house had a large dining room, den, and kitchen. The three bedrooms had two beds, a kitchenette and their own full bathroom.
Each of the four cottages had a kitchenette, full bath, one to three beds and their own lanai. With the wind blowing and big windows open, we stayed cool and slept well in the comfy beds in the house and cottages.
This place has us already talking about coming back to Maui and staying at the Banyan Tree House. It was exactly what we thought of when we thought of Maui with its mountains, waterfalls, and ocean. Nature at its finest!

The property was even better than pictured as the wide variety of flowers and vegetation was fantastic. There were lime and banana trees, multiple varieties of plumeria and other trees. The accommodations were perfect for our party of 9, each couple/person had their own room with bath. The home and cottages were spacious, clean and comfortable. We would definitely recommend!

Our family of 14 spent time on Maui at the Banyan Tree Bed & Breakfast & then on Oahu. Maui was our favorite. The Banyan Tree Bed & Breakfast lends itself to a more relaxing vacation. You are surrounded by the beauty of Hawaii. We spent each evening watching the sun go down sitting next to the pool. There was plenty of room to meet together, but also plenty of room for a large party to have privacy. We were surprised that the sun was down by 7:30 p.m. This led us to going to bed early & waking up early to the sound of many birds and wildlife as well as the chickens by 5:30 a.m. You should be aware that you need to bring your own coffee pods for the keurig & paper towels (1 provided). There is a large washer and dryer on the property with furnished detergent, but you are asked to pay $6 a load. There is no breakfast provided, but in Makawao just a minute or two away there is an outstanding bakery, Komoda Bakery. There is no air conditioner which took some getting used to. However, each room has a fan. By the time the sun went down it surprisingly was a little chilly. We opened the doors and windows and enjoyed the breeze through our rooms. The property is older, but is very clean. Our host Helaina & her husband live next door to the property & were quick to respond to questions & needs. The house is centrally located which made it easy to go anywhere on the island. We loved how relaxing & peaceful our time was at the Banyan Tree Bed and Breakfast and would highly recommend it!

As opposed to a traditional party, we rented this property for a long weekend and our entire family was able to relax, eat, drink, and enjoy time together! I knew it would be fun, but it surpassed my expectations. It matched our style and speed perfectly. The hosts were available and responsive to every question we had. Property had an old Hawaii feel, entire home was very clean and stocked with everything you would need at a home away from home. Property manager was very kind and responsive to anything we needed. Over all we could not have ask for a better place to enjoy a relaxing family vacation.

A wonderful historic property with plenty of room for active kids - We enjoyed catching up with each other while the kids played soccer & ping pong. Everyone enjoyed the pool. A great base from which to explore beaches & the local towns. Helaina was welcoming & available if we needed anything. It was a much more authentic experience than staying in a resort or condo. Would definitely stay again.

We had an amazing stay with our friends/family the week of our wedding! The property is gorgeous and everyone had plenty of space to spread out! We really enjoyed the hot tub and views and being able to walk to Makawao town for brunch. Helaina was so friendly when we met her at check-in. Would highly recommend this place for a big group!

Our 12 person 3 generation group loved our time here. Space to be together, space to be alone, ping pong and games, a beautiful pool with an ocean view and a fantastic kitchen to cook in. Fun to be in Makawao and a great central location to access the Island. Wonderful hosts, too.

We had a great stay and the property was as described. I would have given 5 stars but the lacks of towels (2 for 2 and 3 beds- for a week) and the lack of enough blankets made us need to use beach towels we brought for showers and use blankets from rooms we didn’t use. Also, more info about amenities would have been helpful. There are kuerigs available but you cannot purchase pods in either Paia or Makawao and there are no filters with the drip machine. No problem… would have used a paper towel till I could but some, but there are no paper towels. Hot tub needed cleaning so we didn’t use. Pool was lovely and the location and charm of the property is lovely.

It was a terrific location and there was more than enough space for our group to enjoy family time together but also retreat to our own spaces. The pool and grounds were amazing. Loved all the fruit trees, rope swing, corn hole, ping pong, etc. Great location with easy access to Makawao town. Would definitely recommend!!!

Hawaii Vacation
The Plantation was an experience we couldn’t imagine. Temperatures on the side of the mountain were perfect as was the swimming pool. The central location couldn’t be beat The Hana highway was at our doorstep as was Haleakala.The only problem was the lush grounds were hard to leave.Thank you for making our 55 wedding Anniversary special. We even enjoyed the two roosters and their wake up calls .Helaina and Aria were great . If we needed anything it was taken care of . Thank you Jeanne & Bill

The pictures of the property do not do this rental justice. It’s a slice of paradise. The owners are prompt to answer any questions you might have. We had a group of 11 and there 2 units not used. You could not ask for a better setup for a large group. If I go back to Maui this is where I would stay. You can get to every place on the island in an hour. Loved it!!

The house was wonderful . That old age charm and comfort . Grounds are beautiful and relaxing . The pool needs attention and laundry area was not clean and was unkempt. There could have been dish towels in the kitchen and scrub sponges and better organized and equipped . Maybe put dressers in the bedrooms to put clothes into . All this said I would rent it again .

We rented the entire property for an anniversary celebration with 13 people. Each room had the perfect accommodations and space. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and clean. Pictures do not do this property justice. Literally heaven on earth and a perfect spot for our group of ten including discerning travelers and picky teenagers. There was plenty of space for everyone to have their own private space (including bathrooms, hallelujah) but also plenty of space for completely relaxing family time. I’d give it 10 stars if I could. Exceeded our expectations for our family of 13. Hostess Helaina was just the right amount of giving space and being present when needed. The property is beautiful! Just far enough to feel secluded but a close drive to beaches &.excursions. The pool & jacuzzi are amazing! We hope to return.
