The Banyan Tree B&B is a peaceful, beautiful property that was perfect for relaxing. The property is about 20 minutes from the airport/city, and yet less than a mile from a small town with shopping and restaurants. We found it convenient to visit Haleakala Summit and the Road to Hana. Helena was very friendly, and we loved the room

The breakfast that they leave for you was amazing and was even provided when we had an early tour. Even when we said they didn't need to bring it. It was left outside our door at 7:30am. Her daughter makes the banana bread. I normally am not a fan of Banana Bread. This was amazing! so good. I ate it every time it came in the basket. All Around Excellent! Heliana was so accommodating, she went above an beyond and it was greatly appreciated. She is very friendly! place is beautiful, and nice size room. She provided some missing items from our room right away. And even when things were outside her control, like power outages she provided a flash light ASAP. I will stay here again and have already recommended this place to a few friends. Short driving distance to the closest beach. I can't say enough good about this place and mine and my friends stay.
Was a little sad we couldn't Hot tub on one rainy night, but understandable. As it does cost a lot to heat the Hot Tub.

The jacuzzi at night with the sky full of stars was definitely our highlight!!
Hawaii in general is not the cheapest place to stay, but this apartment was totally worth the price and still very much affordable for this destination

Breakfast was good. The cottage was renovated, clean and with a lot of space.
The hosts were reactive and efficient, and really nice.

The breakfast was so yummy! Everything was absolutely ideal and the location for us was perfect. The pool is so nice and has a gorgeous view for sunset. It was a huge plus that it was a saltwater pool because I don’t want to dip my baby in chlorine. The fuzzy footed chickens are so fun for kids to play with too!
I am a tea drinker and I would’ve appreciated if the electric hot water kettle was stainless steel or glass as opposed to plastic. I don’t like heating water in plastic because it leeches into your water.

Tranquil, Heavenly and Home away from home. Helena went out of her way to be helpful to my kid and I.
There was nothing to dislike.

Beautiful property in Makawao. Great location for road to Hana and the Haleakalā Crater. Town of Makawao is really cute. Make sure to get donuts and Hawaiian rolls at Komoda Bakery if you go. We stayed in the Hibiscus room. It was a nice size and the beds were very comfortable. Lovely pool area and large turf area with ocean view. Fun chickens running around the property - note that the rooster does start crowing at about 5 am. Fantastic continental breakfast provided each morning with pastries, fresh hard-boiled eggs, oatmeal packets, yogurt and fresh pineapple. Pool is a good size and nice small hot tub. Cute outdoor seating areas as well. Overall very homey and "tropical country" feel.
Pool was really cold even on a hot afternoon. Gardener used weed whacker for hours on the afternoon that we decided to relax by the pool; it was not relaxing at all. Window blinds let a lot of light into the room.

Beautiful property with spacious rooms. The pool and yard in the back overlooks the Central Valley of Maui and west Maui and is just stunning to watch the sunset.
The room didn’t have AC but there were fans and it was cool enough at night in late may that we didn’t need it.

The weather there is great since its elevated and the family that runs this place is so welcoming and kind which made us feel very at home.

We had a wonderful stay at the Banyan Tree Retreat, if you want an experience to live immersed in nature, and almost live like a local- As city-dwellers, we loved waking up with the roosters and the bird songs at dawn! We would stay there again if back on Maui and recommend staying there, it's close to Makawao historic town and less than 1 hr drive to the Haleakala National Park. Our room, "Sue", was spacious and perfect for our family of 5 and it had a kitchenette and 2 bathrooms- The kids had a lot of fun at the pool, but also chasing the hens in the garden- Heleina was a wonderful host, readily available for questions.
Nothing I can think of! We would all have liked to stay more time but there was so much more that we wanted to see and do! That will be for another trip!
