About this house rental
I am usually not interested in 2 night rentals during the high season (May-September) and holidays, but you are welcome to make an inquiry (sometimes I make exceptions based on scheduling and market conditions). It is at my discretion to determine number of days, so please check with me before you make solid plans with your group and put in a reservation.
Builder owned New timberframe/Post Beam Home located 2.5 miles down a wooded private road. Arguable the best White Mountain and Mount Washington view set on 1800 acre Mountain fed Kezar Pond.
Daily bald eagle, loon, wildlife sightings. Fantastic fishing from 300 feet of shoreline or from 3 kayaks (provided)(one double kayak) This is a pond that is the size of a large lake. Absolutely breathtaking and private, you'll think you died and went to heaven.
The Space:
I am a builder/real estate developer/Fine home renter in Newport, RI. when I first looked at land on Kezar Pond I thoughtit was the most beautiful place I have ever been to on earth (and I still do).
In 2010 I built this home with quality materials and furnishings. Quartersawn oak flooring, custom stone fireplace. Seating for 12 (10 guests allowed)in the kitchen dining room, living room with panaromic views from ever room in the house. Large deck with grill, completely outfitted kitchen, screened in porch and short path to firepit and beach.
House has 3 spacious bedrooms, a bunkroom with 6 beds, and a finished basement with pool table, shuffleboard table, additional bed and pull out couch. The bunkroom and basement utilize the 1st floor 1/2 bath and the outdoor shower. Masterbed and bath ensuite, and the 2 upstairs bedroom share a Jack and Jill style bath. Bunkroom and basement can conveniently use the upstairs bath.
There is no dock so beach and water entry is perfect for Kayaks, canoes, and swimming, but no LARGE powerboats. You will catch big fish if you know how to fish and you will see bald eagle (usually everyday) in the 100 foot pines on the property.
Please don't come stay at my home if you plan on disturbing any of the wildlife or beautiful nature you will see. You will find the home and setting fullfilling beyond your expectations.

Christopher"s lakeside home was the perfect getaway for our bicoastal and European family of 3 generations looking for time together. The home is more than a cabin, but has the warmth and coziness of a cabin. We loved the large gathering spaces around the fireplace and the dining table. There was plenty of room for 10 people. The kitchen was well stocked, making cooking for a crowd fun. The home has many unique hand-hued features that we enjoyed and admired. There were several kayaks and a canoe which were greatly enjoyed. I can't say enough about the location. Very private, yet a warm and comforting retreat. There were many attractions nearby, hiking and walking trails a short distance away, the Fryeburg Fair and many good restaurants. Christopher couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating. It was a unique getaway for us and I would go again and stay longer.

This property is very unique beginning with the remote location and the beautiful pond it is on. So many beds and bathrooms including an outdoor shower. Open floorplan with huge table for family dinners and games. The screened porch and back deck provided many hours of relaxation. The kitchen was very well equipped for wonderful bonding experiences cooking together and celebrating my 80th birthday. Can't say enough nice things about the fun we had with the kayaks and floating in the pond. We picked blueberries and made pancakes and muffins as a bonus. Cooked steaks on the grill and lobsters in the huge pans. We all loved the pool table and shuffleboard table in lower level. The owner has thought of everything. Privacy was awesome. 10 stars for this property.

Cozy spot; perfect for families
We had a lovely stay in this cozy home with six adults, three children and a dog. It's a well-loved home. Chris was communicative and helpful. We had plenty of snow, and the house is close to several different ski slopes - great for the children in our group.

Lovely stay in a most beautiful setting
We very much enjoyed our stay at this home. The host was very responsive and provided helpful tips to make our stay convenient and comfortable. The house is very large and well-equipped, and its setting on the lake is most beautiful. We enjoyed swimming and boating on the lake, and the various activities that the area has to offer (tubing on the Saco, mountain coaster at Cranmore, Storyland, bowling in Fryeburg). We also rented paddleboards and enjoyed paddling around the lake. The hummingbirds and bald eagle were daily visitors, and the sunsets over the lake are truly stunning! We also really appreciated that the house is dog-friendly as we love bringing our pup on vacation with us. He loved swimming in the lake as much as we did! The kids loved the bunk room, which is ideal for a family vacation! Only thing that I'll note is that there is no dishwasher in the kitchen - we saw that in other reviews so we were prepared, but it does make for a bit of extra work. But the attributes of this lovely house make it very much worth the stay. We hope to return next summer! Thanks for a great vacation!

Idyllic getaway
Our crew had a magical time on Kezar Pond. So much fun to use kayaks and canoe provided, saw eagles every day, and spent hours cooking together in the super well equipped kitchen and leisurely dinners talking around big family friendly farm table. Awesome memories! Looking forward to returning.

Amazing Family Stay!
This amazing property had EVERYTHING to make our multigenerational family week just perfect. Baby gates and cribs for the babies, kayaks, canoes and games galore for the kids and adults and wildlife for ALL! We caught huge fish and saw the resident bald eagle every day. The scenery was beautiful and the water quality is amazing. We had fires down by the water every afternoon/evening. The sunsets (and rises) were beautiful. This house had everything that we would ever want. Very comfortable beds, linens, stocked kitchen, grill, screened in porch and washer dryer. We also did day trips to the Cog Railway up Mount Washington and the Swift River/ Lower Falls slides. We had a wonderful family week!

Wonderful family getaway - and the fishing was great!
Beautiful home, completely equipped and kid-friendly. The bunkroom and the screened porch were the grandkids' domains, and were perfect. The owner Chris was great - checked in with us and was very accessible when we had questions.
The family fishermen highly recommend the fishing, both from canoe and off the rocks - success every time!
One recommendation -- get your own directions ahead of time, your Maps app may take you on weird roads, especially coming from Massachusetts. Our route from Norway/Harrison was easy, but our guests picked the directions that were a bit wonky.
Worth the drive, however, as our week was fabulous!
Thank you, Chris!

Great New Years weekend
A small group of us stayed here for née years weekend and it was a perfect get away. We had dogs and very small kids with us, and there was something to keep everyone busy the whole time. The house itself is even better than pictures do it justice. The views are incredible. It snowed one of the days we were there and with the huge windows overlooking the lake along with the fireplace going, it made for a picture perfect day by the fire. The house is equipped with most everything you’d need. We cooked all our meals and never had any issues finding the right pans or other kitchen necessities. There was enough rooms to give everyone their space when needed but also big enough of a common area for everyone to hang out together. The guys especially enjoyed the shuffleboard in the game room and used it every day. All in all, the stay exceeded all our expectations and we would definitely consider coming back!

When you want to get away from the world and focus on what’s important
6 of our family members and our puppies gathered for a quarantine holiday gathering at The Sousa’s amazing property. The location is private with stunning views you can’t get enough of. The home itself is warm, comfortable, and well appointed. The stress melted away immediately when we entered the door. We felt remote, but had all the services you’d get in the city with DirectTV for our football games, internet, an amazing cooks kitchen, etc. The large open family room was both beautiful and a cozy place to hang together, play games, etc. and you still have the lower level rec area to play pool, shuffleboard, etc. I can only imagine how wonderful it would be in the warm weather to boat, fish, etc. This home gave us incredible Thanksgiving 2020 memories...thanks so much for sharing with us Chris! Chris was also very available to us, even calling to make sure we were settled in well. Highly recommend this property.

Wonderful Fall Family Getaway
This beautiful mountain home was the perfect place to take in the fall foliage of Maine! The A-Frame great room, with windows to the ceiling looked out to a gorgeous view of water and mountains, was a great place for our family gathering to enjoy the meals made in the well equipped kitchen along side the cozy wood burning fireplace. There was ample living/sleeping space for everyone in the house, a private beach where we put the kayaks were put to good use on the lake (technically a pond, but its huge!) Where we caught and released a few fish! Bathrooms were clean with up today date decor and fixtures and my family felt very at home and safe staying here during COVID times - we had 2 high risk older people with us. I will definitely look to return to this great escape soon!

Wonderful Lakefront Camp
We stayed for a long weekend as a 3-generational group of 10 at this lovely camp in late August 2020. We all really enjoyed our stay. There was plenty to do both on site and in the area. We swam, floated and kayaked in the pond, roasted s'mores on the campfire, played cards, pool and shuffleboard when it rained, hiked Mt. Pleasant and tubed down the Saco River.
What we loved:
- the location, with spectacular views, serenity, and feeling of being surrounded by nature (we saw the bald eagles!).
- character of the house, so much charm and genuine love from the knotty pine panelling to the cast iron cookware
- bunk room, beautifully built and fun for kids, including teens with some full-size beds
- fantastic game room with pool, shuffleboard table and darts
- beachside fire pit
- outdoor shower
- access to water equipment including kayaks and floats
- wood-burning fireplace
- dog-friendly property
Things to know:
- camp is located down a 2-mile dirt road with some large divots. We were glad to be in a truck. An automobile with 10-inch clearance would be preferred, particularly if it rains (which it did during our stay and the puddles were intimidating)
- there is no dishwasher
