Driftwood Bungalow - approximately 15 private acres on the edge of the Pacific Ocean. Dramatic views of waves crashing over rocks, see the tide ebb and flow, marvel at the sunset - all from your cozy living room and deck.
Every room was created with attention paid to detail...and a few quirky surprises...fish lights, murals on walls.....
Living Room opens onto the deck. Enjoy views of the ocean as you have your breakfast, play a game of monopoly or do a jigsaw puzzle while listening to sounds of the surf. Comfortable loveseat and chairs in the living room on one end and on the other there is a cream colored table with vibrant red leather chairs and a wonderful ocean view.
Open the french doors and walk out to admire the breathtaking view. Watch pelicans diving for fish, seals frolic in the surf and whales as they migrate. Sit and enjoy lunch on the deck picnic table or read a book in a comfy mesh chair with your feet propped up as you feel your cares slip away while the ocean breeze caresses your face.
In the family room you will find a huge sectional sofa and a 32 inch LCD TV for watching movies; DVD and VCR viewing only, no cable. There is a selection of movies or bring your family favorites. (Sectional is also a full-sized hide-a-bed.)
Master Bedroom has a Queen Bed outfitted with cozy flannel sheets. Pretty blues, pale teal, and rich chocolate brown highlight the master bedroom. Wonderful ocean-themed pictures and decorations complete the decor. Open your window at night and listen to the sounds of the ocean.
Second bedroom has a fun Surfing Theme with two twin beds. Flannel sheets and colorful Pottery Barn Quilts add to your comfort. Great room for the young...or young at heart!
The kitchen is fully equipped and ready for you. Dishwasher, Toaster, griddle, blender, coffee maker, microwave, utensils, waffle iron, gadgets galore and plenty of dishes/glassware for your use. Enjoy a view of the Point Arena Lighthouse from the dining table.
Two gas powered fireplaces warm your nights with the flick of a switch. Grab a cozy afghan, pick a spot and settle in to read the novel you've been meaning to! We have a lending library for your pleasure, sometimes one book just isn't enough!
Fenced yard off the deck, great for child and pet safety. Tuggy Tugboat Sandbox and sand toys for the tykes to enjoy.
The "Honeymoon Cottage", no longer available and occupied for years by a member of the cleaning service, has no common walls.

Driftwood Bungalow has it all! It is in a beautiful location, with a fenced-in yard for the dogs, a private walkway to the beach, and an amazing view! We look forward to vacationing here annually!

This home is situated at the top of the cliff overlooking the large rock on Irish Beach. The trail to get down is steep, but easily walkable until the last 10 feet or so, then it’s a bit of a slide! The home was well stocked and a great location for launching north towards Fort Bragg or South towards Gualala. The home is private, but connected to another residence where the house keeper stays, so not exactly the private dwelling type privacy we were hoping for. Also, the beds are super soft which makes it hard to sleep if you have any sort of back issues. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.

This is such a wonderful slice of heaven. The sun room is amazing to watch the ocean, private access to a mostly private beach, cozy with plenty of entertainment and opportunity to relax.
I’ll be back!

A perfect stay. Amazing location. Incredible views. Cozy, clean, and comfortable bungalow. We loved the private path to the beach, and the hot tub. We didn't need to go anywhere else. Beautiful fenced grassy area for our pup. Thank you for sharing your home!

We had such a lovely stay! We had some rain and some sunshine, and this place was perfect for both. Breathtaking views, a phenomenal trail down to the beach, and just an all-around comfortable place to stay. Thank you for your hospitality!

Warm cosy cottage, with lots of room, fantastic location. Perfect away-from-it-all stay. Lots to see locally or just enjoy being in Driftwood. Lovely cliff top views. Hot tub a plus, Manchester Beach for a beach combing, windy walk, mesmerising surf, just lovely !

We had a great time with our dogs staying at this property. It was fenced in (aside from one small area of brush where there is no fence but not a problem for our dogs - you would want to keep a watch if you have a tiny dog that would try to escape though). The heater worked very efficiently and being able to see the Milky Way and stars at night with the waves crashing was magical. We would love to return!

Driftwood Bungalow is a great place to unwind. We loved the big window's and the back yard. The market/hardware store in Manchester had everything you needed. We found that the Rollervile cafe was a great place to have breakfast. They are only open Wednesday thru sunday. .

Just spent a week enjoying our funky bungalow. Very well stocked home with lots of places to relax. The views are amazing and hearing the surf and watching the stars doesn't get better than this. Will definitely return.

Enjoyed our visit! Would recommend for small groups of 3 or 4. Well stocked, beautiful views, close to market and tourist spots. Nice almost private beach.. not super easy to access.

I (dad) am a longtime Mendocino coast visitor. I’ve stayed in the Gualala to Fort Bragg corridor quite a few times and now take my family up there. Driftwood is perfect for little ones. Fenced in back yard overlooking the Pacific. Deer, quails, snakes, caterpillars, seals and hawks to stir the wild thing in them. Plenty of room for 5. Great kitchen with everything needed to throw down a great meal. Just slightly less than absolutely silent and completely dark at night. The property assistant Rose is right next door but you would never know and to top it off a legitimate treee rope swing in front that we wore out. We’ll be back soon.

My dad and our dogs took a little vacation up the coast. The bungalow was cute and right on the ocean. I loved falling asleep with the windows open listening to the waves. There is a nice path that goes down toward the ocean, but you can’t access the beach from it. Nice relaxing place to stay.

We loved this house! Perfect view, lovely house, Rose and Doug were very accommodating after a small mix-up at the beginning. I have stayed at other VRBOs in Manchester, all nice, but Driftwood is definitely my favorite!

A cute, cozy bungalow with a view and access to the beach. Very clean and well kept. Great communication with owner and Rose the caretaker, especially when our dog got up close and personal with a skunk in the backyard! Would definitely return!

We were very happy at Driftwood. Rose, the caretaker, was *wonderful*!
The house is simple, but enough. We loved our walk down the hill to the creek at twilight.
We did a lot of adventuring in the area, and mostly used the house to sleep, and it worked well for us.

The property was great and fits 3 comfortably. We had 4 but we made it work. Loved having a very well stocked grocery store nearby. Hope to come again.

As a couple in our 50s we loved the remoteness and privacy. The cabin was roomy and offered two sitting areas which was great as the light and temperature changed. Kitchen was well stocked with cookware and utensils. Location was perfect for those wanting to get out of SF with a reasonable drive-time while still being able to drive north to experience more rugged pacific northwest coastline.
Will absolutely return again, and would highly recommend to anyone looking to de-compress and enjoy privacy and nature.

Cute beachy house. Due to log jam you can't really get to the beach. Great if you have a dog with fenced yard.

Comfortable, well appointed house on a bluff overlooking the ocean. A wonderful place to spend a long weekend to rest and refresh!

Great place to enjoy rainy beach weather in the hot tub. Excellent private beach access (with a little log hopping). Well-outfitted cottage, pretty much as described on the VRBO site.

The place was very clean and organized with all the items we needed to enjoy our visit. The kitchen was very well stocked and very neatly organized. The views we're fabulous as was the sound of the ocean we could hear as we slept. It was a little on the windy side when we arrived but the gas fireplaces were lit upon our arrive and the house was nicely heated and cozy. We also enjoyed the fenced backyard as we took our 2 dogs and it was nicely fenced and safe. The host Rose was very helpful and kind. We weren't able to get to the ocean from the path due to a large build up of wood from the storms. However, the path out the backyard we'd not recommend for small children as it is a bit steep but I believe there is another path off the front yard.
We look forward to recommending the place and appreciate Doug and Rose for making this an enjoy visit.

Great Quiet Getaway

Our family of four loved our stay here and only wish it could have been longer. The house has lots of space and everything you need, the views and coastal access were even better than we expected (if you don't want to cross the driftwood, which didn't with little kiddos, you just need to go across a very small creek to the beach road), and there's plenty of beautiful hiking trails nearby. We'll definitely be back for another weekend!

A vintage cabin with plenty of living space sited on a bluff with an up close view of the private beach below. Due to a persistent fog layer across coastal California, we didn't have the outstanding view this rental obviously would have offered, but we did walk down the private road leading from the backyard. Never have we seen such a massive pileup of driftwood, making the actual beach not very accessible (as warned in the owners' info manual), but what a rugged, wild place. None the less, our stay was what we prize about this area - affording comfort, solitude, and north coast atmosphere. Additionally, the owner provides an unusually well-labeled and meticulous organization of kitchen, television, light switches, etc. for ease of use.
