If you are looking to disconnect from the everyday rat race and stay in a mountain paradise this place fits the bill. Our family of 7 adults and 3 dogs had the best time ever. Not what you want if you need a lot of screen time but if you are looking to enjoy hiking and beautiful drives. This is it The creek at the lodge is one of the prettiest we have ever seen. We all had a great time together but there is plenty of room to spread out. We will definitely be back soon

The home and apartment were spacious yet cozy and was the perfect setup for our extended family. Everyone had their own space to sprawl out and get comfortable.
We loved the open layout of the living room & kitchen area to cook and socialize.
Our favorite part of our stay was the yard and creek! Although it rained for a few days, we spent plenty of our time outside under the carport relaxing and watching the rain come down. It was beautiful!
We loved our stay and cannot wait to come back!!

Our family had a wonderful time at Chestnut Lodge. The huge back yard gave opportunity for lots of game time for the whole family. The children loved exploring around the creek. The site host was very quick to respond to the few issues we had while we were there. It should be noted that it is a 30 minute drive into town to the grocery store. We cooked all of our meals at the house. The pans were actually good quality and didn’t leave half your meal stuck to the bottom. There was also an extra refrigerator downstairs which was needed for 3 families. Snowbird Creek was about a 20 minute drive to some good fishing holes. We caught enough trout to have a fish fry one night. If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful stay in the woods, we would highly recommend this place. Just remember, it is in the woods by a creek so don’t be surprised if you run into some of the local critter residents that make their home there as well.

Stayed in home for a four day weekend just to get away. Like others have said there is no cell service at cabin with either Verizon or AT&T but you can turn WiFi calling on your phone and still make and receive phone calls and text messages. We loved having the creek right outside the door. My lab played in it every day. Overall cleanliness was good. Did have a couple of issues that addressed with the owner and she responded immediately. Couldn’t figure out the thermostat during stay so was a little warm in the cabin but just opened up some windows. If want to get away from everything this is the place to be to relax. The WiFi was very good. Was able to play gaming system. Would recommend a TV in the lower area somewhere. There is only one in the living room and in the bedroom on the main level. Would definitely stay again. It is 30 minutes from house to any stores in town, so would recommend considering when planning to cook to make sure you have everything.

Our family really enjoyed our stay at the lodge the only thing that we would change is to have some dorm fridge in the woodshed and another refrigerator in the house other than that we had a great time

Absolutely Awesome!
We had ages range from 9 to 86 and everyone was very satisfied. The property is gorgeous and well maintained. The fishing was fantastic, if you’re looking for wild rainbow and brook trout. I managed to catch my best wild brookie. The constant sounds of the creek and birds was perfect. Even my tinnitus was drowned out. I look forward to our mountain trips every year to get truly “get away from it all”. This property did just that. The caretaker was so pleasant and accommodating. One warning, those trails are a workout! And I loved it!

The Chestnut Lodge in June
The setting is beautiful and perfect for the whole family. The kids loved playing in the creek while adults enjoyed the porch and fire pit.
The kitchen is well stocked to assist in feeding the ten people we brought along. The living room comfortably sat six people max and is the only sitting room inside.
The beds, bathrooms and linens were all fresh, comfortable and clean. Several online corrections are needed if one is counting on a King bed with cozy chair in basement bedroom. There is no chair in the basement bedroom and there is no king bed. It’s a Queen like the others. We loved the outdoor fire pit and spent several evenings enjoying it. I missed reading ahead of time that there is added cost for firewood, $50 worth didn’t last us all week.
Overall, we loved the quiet and time with family. The road in wasn’t as bad as expected but could use some grading. We’re thankful to have experienced the Chestnut Lodge this season.

Amazing property!
We loved the house and it’s amazing setting. It was just stunning. Great attention to detail, and the creek is amazing. Do go there for family time, do not go expecting to be connected to your devices and the outer world. We had very little luck with phone calls and even texting. it happened, but because of our large group (8 phones) service was so spotty that I stopped trying- but it was a good thing. We were there to get away. Two things of note that I feel possible renters should know- the road to and from the property is fairly long and is dirt/gravel. We negotiated it with our trucks and trailers just fine. As we were all veteran riders, we made do on our motorcycles too, even with a couple of fully dressed tour bikes. That said- it wasn’t for the faint hearted or for low slung sports cars. To be clear- there is scarecely a road in the COUNTY for the faint hearted 😅it’s the mountains after all.
I mention these things only to better inform possible renters so that everyone has a great time like we did. Thank you for the awesome get away!

Peaceful paradise!
If you truly want to get away from it all and relax in a place of incredible beauty, this is the place for you! The lovely lodge is next to a roaring mountain river on a gorgeous piece of lushly wooded property. We loved sitting out on the covered porch in the comfortable rocking chairs listening to nothing but the flowing waters and birdsongs. Several hummingbirds visited the filled feeder, and we saw so many butterflies! The house was immaculate, the kitchen had everything we needed (including a great knife set, cookie sheets, slow cooker, etc.), and the beds were very comfy. We loved it! Our family of 9 had a great time playing games, cooking, and just being together. You do need to know that while we could get some spotty cell coverage and enough wi-fi to check emails, this would not be the place to stay if you needed strong wi-fi for work or to stream movies (there was a nice TV with cable, but you couldn’t use Netflix, etc.). My son had some work he needed to do, so he drove to Robbinsville (about a half hour drive) and did his online work there at the library. The rest of us weren’t working, so we were fine. Frank the groundskeeper was wonderful, and the owners responded very quickly to any questions I had. The only thing that I wish could have been different is that it rained a lot every day! We couldn’t have a bonfire in the awesome fire pit area like we’d planned on having. We were able to use the nice grill because it was in a covered area. One really nice thing my daughter and I did was drive over to hike in the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest which is nearby. Even though it rained most of the time, thanks to the dense canopy of the ancient trees and our rain jackets, we didn’t get too wet. I highly recommend that hike if you are interested in seeing some of the last remaining old growth trees in this area. One last thing-make sure you print out (or screenshot before you get on the road) the very specific directions about how to get there, and look very closely at the photos that are included (so you can read sign names). The lodge is in a very remote location and you'll probably lose cell service/GPS once you leave Robbinsville. Don’t let that scare you! You will find the lodge if you pay close attention to those directions from the owner. I highly suggest getting there before dark. This place is so beautiful! It’s the perfect place to unplug and unwind which is so desperately needed in our crazy world!

Wonderful cabin.
Excellent cabin if you want seclusion. Beautiful property with lots to do onsite. Very tough trails for children, cobwebs everywhere inside and outside of home, I guess the cleaning crew ignores those. We also found it odd that we pay for cleaning service and are expected to strip the beds and clean the towels. Overall though the cabin is very well maintained.
The property is very private and great for a getaway. Staff around the property were all very nice and helpful as well when asked questions.
All 9 of us loved the trip overall and would recommend to others.

Great atmosphere!
The house and outside experience was great! The only cons we experienced was not enough hot water and the lack of towels provided. We only had one towel and wash cloth per person for a 3 night stay. The guest house rooms smelled awful and didn't have TV's.

The location is great. The areas outside are what make this an outstanding rental. A large yard that was great for my 3 year old grandson to play and hiking whenever you step into the woods. The creek and waterfalls are relaxing and sound is
soothing. I could live there!

Peaceful Mountain Retreat
Overall great experience. Great accommodations for large families like ours or large groups. The creek and hiking trails right out the back door are wonderful amenities. A few more basic supplies (salt, pepper, coffee filters...) would be great but we were able stock up at the local grocery store. The Chestnut Lodge is a truly wonderful mountain retreat!

Best Vacation at Chestnut Lodge
This was the best vacation that we've ever had. We had differing ages and personality types and EVERYONE enjoyed their stay at Chestnut Lodge. We had some problems getting to the property most likely because we traveled at night; I wouldn't do that again for this property. The kitchen was also smaller than we expected but our stay was still perfect. The house and property were absolutely charming, beautiful and just the right fit for us. We did not want leave. The sounds of nature and rushing creek that we encountered from the moment we set foot on the property was just amazing. Our family hiked the trails and up the mountains, made smores, played outdoor races, soccer, waded in creek, relaxed in the hammocks and much more. This place just left us wanting for more of it. We are definitely going to try and schedule more time at this property. This was an 8 hour trek from Florida for us but we'd do it again in a heartbeat. Thanks for such an amazing opportunity and a trip that my family will remember for a lifetime!

Difficult to get to but worth it! We all drive SUVs or trucks so we were good. Would book again and relax a bit more. Comfy beds, great family space and incredible views. Breakfast/brunch on the deck is a must. The trails and hammocks and creek all added to the great experience.

The perfect getaway
If you are looking for a place to disconnect, I can not recommend this property enough. We were looking for a secluded location for a summer vacation with the entire family and the location and lodge did not disappoint. The location and property are beautiful. The kids (9,9,7,2) had a fantastic time and the adults found calm in a hectic life. The hiking was great, (mostly vertical), the creek was cold and refreshing, and the fire pit made for the perfect end of day night cap. There were 10 of us so the 2nd building was a life saver. The gravel roads in and out where not bad we drove in and out (sedan, minivan and SUV) with no problem. If you are looking for a place to get away, put down the phones and tablets and be in nature this is the perfect location! We will be back.

Best Vacation in the Mountains
My entire family of 9 including my dog and 90 year old grandma loved everything about this place. The cabin was impeccable and so nicely decorated. You have the whole place to yourself and are surrounded by the peace and quiet of the wilderness around you. It actually snowed for a day while we were there and being from south Florida it was the cherry on top to the vacation. The owners were very responsive with any questions we had and We will 100% be coming back soon!

A wilderness wonderland...
My fly fishing club used this property as a basecamp for fishing on nearby Big Snowbird Creek. Our group was comprised of 7 guys and the Chestnut Waterfall lodge was a perfect fit for our group. With that said, this would not be the perfect spot for say 5 or 6 couples as most of the accommodations in the main lodge are out in the open. The top level is perfect for folks who don't mind being out in the open, privacy is very limited. There is a bedroom in the main level with a loft and single bed. Perfect for a close knit group of friends, but no bueno for a group of couples looking for any privacy. The lower level has a huge bedroom secluded away from the rest of the lodge and is perfect for anyone needing a bit of solitude. The woodshed addition is a real treat to stay in. It would be perfect for the couples or introverts in your group as it is detached from the main lodge. Both suites in the woodshed has its own unique bathroom and personality. The craftsmanship in each room and the main gathering areas of the lodge is very unique and will be instant hit with anyone who appreciates the labors it must have taken to painstakingly fabricate all the unique features of this special lodge. The property itself is absolutely spectacular. There is a pristine mountain stream 50 feet or so from the lodge full of small, wild rainbow trout. And yes, there is a waterfall in view of the back porch. We had lots of rain the weekend we were there and the waterfall was flowing at max level. The Chestnut is a stunning lodge in a truly majestic mountain setting. When reading a few of the other reviews, I heard some complaints about the approach road to the property. It is a rough mountain track, so if that is not your thing, or you are scared of some potholes and have some trepidation on single lane mountain roads you may not care for the approach to the property. This was not a problem with any of the rough and tumble mountain savvy guys in our group. In fact the rough approach was actually quite fun and added to the appeal of the property for us. The internet is very slow to none existent due to the remote location, and again, this was not a problem for us, it was in fact a plus in my book. The screen door was busted in the main entrance, but other then that the lodge was in pristine order. We did lose power a couple of times during our stay, but this was due to the inclement weather. Overall, our group loved this place. We are already planning a return next fall.

Awesome Family Retreat
The first thing I will tell you about this property is that the outdoor setting is so much better than what the listing pictures show. Our adult kids and grand-kids enjoyed the back yard and exploring around the property. The hiking was extreme for our beginner hikers but was a perfect challenge for those that had hiked before.
The house and the positioning of the rooms was perfect for us. The master bedroom is on the main floor with a bathroom just outside the bedroom. The multi-head shower on the main floor is awesome. There is a bedroom upstairs in the loft that provides little privacy, but it was perfect for our grand-kids. The third bedroom in the main house is downstairs with the game room. There are two more bedrooms in the separate cottage that is just across the driveway. The home as well as the cottage are beautifully decorated. The beds were all very comfortable and there were plenty of additional comforters though we never needed them as the interior temperature of the home was always perfect for cold December nights.
Our family made use of the fire-pit every night which made a perfect setting for the whole family to relax and talk about how nice it was to get away for the outside world. Oh yea, did I mention that you can forget about cell phone reception! It was actually nice to not hear a cell phone ring or a family member talking or texting on this retreat. The only downside is that you will NOT have any WiFi. The way that the service is provided, it's almost a guarantee that it's not going to work, so just don't expect to use it at this location. The owner and the property manager were quick to respond to any needs or issues.
In all, the entire family had a wonderful time at the Chestnut Lodge and we would not hesitate going back in the future.
Thank you Chelsea and Robin for sharing your beautiful property with our family.

Pictures do not do justice!
This place is so amazingly beautiful! The home is situated beside a stream and sitting out by the fire at night was so peaceful listening to the water trickle. We had a beautiful time here. The house and mother in law quarters were clean and well stocked with everything you need. If your wanting a tranquil peaceful getaway don’t pass this one up, you won’t be sorry. Just be sure to stock up with food accommodations beforehand because the nearest grocery store is 30 minutes away.

Most Restful Location
We have been staying at cabins in the mountains for almost 10 years now and this was, by far, the most restful location at which we have every stayed. As you look off the front porch, it looks like a painting. The sound of the creek was so relaxing. Our family enjoyed sitting in the hammocks and camp chairs (we brought) all around the property listening to the creek and taking a nap or reading. We all desired to connect with Jesus through His Word and prayer and this was the perfect place to do so. The fireplace was perfect for late October. There is no shortage of downed trees for firewood. You may want to bring an axe or solid hatchet. You can also purchase firewood at Ace Hardware in Robbinsville, The hottub was not working, but we didn't need it. Our kids (ages 3-14) had a blast hiking up and down the creek and on trails located just a short walk from your doorstep. If you hike all the way up the mountain, you will find a downed airplane. There was so much to do on the property, we really didn't need to go anywhere. The kitchen was well stocked. We enjoyed eating on the outdoor table and chairs. The beds were super comfortable. The internet was super slow, but that was perfect for us. It forced us to unplug and just enjoy our kids and reading. Thanks for all the work put into this property! We'll be back, Lord willing.

Truly a retreat into the woods.
Wonderful property with nice stream and plenty of space for kids to run around. Hiking trails steep and strenuous and a bit overgrown but very close. Overall plenty of space in house but only 2 rooms; loft ladders not suitable for small children. Game room nice, billiard sticks are all missing tips. Kitchen nice but the coffee maker was missing parts and coating on pots and pans were all scratched up. Some of the window screens had holes and door hinges need oil badly. Dishwasher stopped working but we were able to get it working again. There was one small roll of paper towels and 1 toilet paper roll of single ply in each bathroom. Considering the higher cost paid for lodging and other extra fees was expecting a little more for the money we spent. Access is on rough and uneven gravel mountain roads so do not attempt with a car, trucks and SUV only. We enjoyed our stay and time on the lake. Expect to travel 30-45m from the house to the lake or nearest convenience store.

Was disappointed
The cabin was clean and very nice, but I would say it's a two bedroom instead of a three the third room is in the upper loft with no walls. The drive leading to the cabin is 4 miles of single lane rock road which is not suitable for riding a motorcycle in less you are riding a dirt bike. Had to trailer the bike in and out every day of my stay which was not fun.

Amazing trip
We had a fantastic stay. Great secluded location away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Our kids had a fantastic time with plenty of room to run around and burn energy. While there the dryer broke and the property managers took our laundry and washed, dried and even folded it. We would definitely recommend!!!

Beautiful cabin with lots to do!
Took our 5 kids (ages 5-19) for a few days. The cabin is even more impressive than the pictures and so is the property. We absolutely loved it! We went hiking to seven springs which was quite a hike but all the kids made it. More complaining from the teenagers than the little ones. Bear Den Falls was a really good hike. Probably my favorite. The river/stream is beautiful. Several hammocks and a swing are around the property. We all really enjoyed the pool table and the jacuzzi. The drive from Robbinsville is about 25-30 minutes of very winding road so be prepared. We only went into town once to eat dinner. We ate at the Mexican restaurant (I think there’s only one) and it was really good. Beds were comfortable and kitchen was fully equipped. 5 stars for sure and we would love to go back again in the future!
