Character, lovely roof top terrace, lovely staff

The location was excellent. It was like staying in a museum. Stayed 3 nights and always started the day with watching humming birds on the roof top and also would come back in the afternoon, have a short sleep, did the bird watching again and go out again in the evening.
And Paulina, thank you for everything ❤️

quaint and attractive. Well located. The walk into town was steep but Guanajuato is all hills. After a couple of days I started to get acclimatized to the elevation and hills.
Paulina was very helpful and enjoyable.
The bed and pillows could have been more comfortable but for the price they were okay:)

Paulina was running this place single-handedly, and she was a warm and responsible host. She makes sure you are taken care of and treats you like family. This hotel is a very old house with quirky old charm; we enjoyed the natural brick ceilings, funky garden, and interesting artwork. If you want a place with the old Guanajuato character, this is perfect. Our room was very large with a king-sized bed and we felt comfortable. It was nice to have a few cute common spaces to retire to. There is free hot/cold water dispenser available in the common room, with a few teas and instant coffee if you like. We can't thank Paulina enough for her kindness.
We had the big room in front, above the street, and the cars traveling around the curve over the cobblestones made the room noisy and a little rumbly. We're kind of late sleepers though, so people up before working hours shouldn't have a problem. The rooms in the back should be much quieter. We used earplugs and dampened the sound by putting a couple of pillows in between the window and indoor shutters.

amazing atmosphere, caring staff, unique place. location was really nice, just a few minutes walk and you’re in the very centre.
should update pillows. also there is no AC, so you sleep with windows open, tho there is enough cars passing by which creates noise and air pollution.

Beautiful furnishings in unique rooms tucked around the building, with several common areas for relaxing, a lovely interior courtyard and rooftop terrace. Cool even in the heat of the day. Paulina connected with each guest and worked to ensure comfort

Beautifully decorated, felt like staying at an artist’s house. Lovely rooftop. Paulina was a great host. Close to the centre.

Such a unique building, great view of the city from the terrace. The best stay I've ever had.

Near the central.
Shower water was so weak that I cannot finish my shower. Maybe a couple can spend 1 or 2 hours to take shower.
And the hot water is not supplied quickly.
There are coffee booth in the hotel but in the morning all the cups are gone. I had to buy a cup of coffe at a coffee shop.

Beautiful old house, great location, and a wonderful host!
What’s not to love? Great spot for a great value

Great location, very nice and available owner, beautiful bedrooms and perfectly clean
Bathroom to be renovated

I love that this hotel is in a neighborhood just uphill from Plaza Baratillo. Paulina is a lovely person and a fabulous hostess. Casa Azul is a rambling old house with loads of character, and lots of stairs. I'd begin each day on the roof terrace with coffee, listening to the roosters and church bells, and enjoying the incredible views over the city!
That I couldn't stay longer.

Beautiful old Mexican house, with a patio full of plants, a roof with very nice view, silent, good staff, good location, wood furniture, confortable bed.

Hotel has a very local/traditional vibe - nice touches and details. They have a nice terrace where you can just relax with a view of the city. Staff was nice and helpful.
It's kind of hard to find a parking around the hotel, streets are very narrow and steep so we left our car around the top of the hill next to the church (only 5 mins walk to the hotel so not a big deal). Bathroom was very tiny but that's just normal for most buildings there so I can't hold it against the hotel. Overall no major negatives.

location, interesting artistic atmosphere, rooftop patio, great wifi, friendly host, a fridge in the room, big spacious room. traditional Mexican place and watching the hummingbirds.

The guest house was beautiful but quite old. The manager, Paulina, was amazing. I loved Guanajuato overall.
I am 60 and found the hill The guest house was located at the top of to be too steep to walk up and down multiple times daily. Also, the water pressure was quite low, and sometimes the water not very hot. And this may be a personal preference, but I found the bed to be quite hard.
4.5
It is artistic, spacious, historic, beautiful, well located and very well managed.
Hot water was not always available and water pressure was low.

It's a very beautiful place, you notice the hotel is well maintained in details. Everything is very clean and pleasing to the eyes. Paulinia, the hostess, is helpful and nice. The climb to reach it is nothing if you are an active person.

This is the Most Unique place I have ever stayed at. The room was huge and filled with art, pottery, and stuff. I had both Dali and Botero prints in my space. Speaking of spaces you must take in the Terrace with all the hummingbirds. The view is incredible. The lady that runs the home is very special and helpful. It’s a Must Stay.

It is a rather steep long way up the hill to reach the hotel.
Beautiful hotel. Classic mexican stile. Friendly staff. Just great.
4.5
The gracious, unpretentious but artful decor and furnishings. The host, Paulita and the king size suite which felt like our own apartment. Location. (The hill is nothing unless you have mobility problems.)
The loose handrail on the right side descending to the bathroom. The occasional noise from other rooms. (Inevitable, and gladly tolerated.)

The decorations, the rooms, the location and the staff
4.5
I enjoyed the hotel quirkiness---to a point and the moderately good views from the rooftop terrace. The room was large and sunny. The owner was friendly and helpful.
The hotel is TOO quirky for my taste. The location is an uphill hike and somewhat inconvenient. The interior is full of stairs and steps, requiring moderate care and attention to negotiate. The bathroom sink never drained. The shower was only satisfactory. My high expectations---based on the multiple reviews---were not met. The price was fair, but beware of the uphill walk to get here. The bathroom was barely adequate.

Incredible place, extremely helpful Paulina

Beautiful place, amazing location, wonderful staff so helpful with everything, great terraza, water provided so you don't have to waste 10 plastic bottles, also hot water for tea provided
The internet could be a bit better but it was manageable. Also could be nice to have a workspace but no big deal - there are great cafes nearby.
