About this house rental
Enjoy Long Pond and Acadia National Park at Long Pond Escape, a private, new (2016) home, on six acres of woods located on a secluded cove on the northwest corner of Long Pond.
The first floor features bright, open living space with a fully equipped kitchen, island with 4 stools, a large dining table (seats 8), and a half bath and living room area with a wood stove. Doors open to a spacious deck facing the lake, and to a side screened porch. Master bedroom with queen bed and a 32" TV, and a master bath with glassed shower. The master bedroom has views of Long Pond.
Upstairs are three bedrooms: queen (also with a 32" TV), double, and one with a twin bed and a bunk bed (2 twins), and a full bath. All three upstairs bedrooms have views of Long Pond.
There is a finished basement with a family room with a 55" TV with blu-ray disk player and Roku player, a game room with a mini pool table, a full bath with shower. The laundry room is also on this floor. Double French doors open to a stone patio with a fire pit.
Head down to the private dock and enjoy a swim or paddle and discover the quiet side of Long Pond. A canoe, four kayaks, a row boat and a pedal boat are all available for your enjoyment. If you don't feel like swimming or boating, the dock is also great for sunbathing, reading, fishing, or just enjoying the view of the lake with Cadillac, Sargent, Beech, Mansell and Bernard Mountains in the background. You can also enjoy the loons and ducks that swim by every day, and on occasion you'll see great blue herons and bald eagles. On clear nights, the dock is a great place for stargazing -- see the Milky Way in all its glory.

Had a great time with the family. I highly recommend this property. We had fun with the water toys, exploring the area, fishing, campfires, etc. The lakehouse was within 30 min of pretty much everything on the island including Bar Harbor and Acadia.

Wonderful house, loved the seclusion, very peaceful setting!, enjoyed the song of the loons every night.
House was well stocked, inside and out. Many water toys, paddle boards, kayaks, peddle boat, and canoe. Plenty of life preservers, and fishing poles.
Proximity to Acadias many hiking trails was great. Bar Harbor was just a short drive.
We would definitely rent this house again!

Everything about this vacation spot on Long Pond was simply perfect! I wish i could live there!

My family and I (ages 4-75) all enjoyed our stay on Long Pond. The house was clean and the sleeping and dining space was perfect for our family of 7. The seating in the living room was a little tight for all of us, but there was so much to do outdoors and the weather was great so there was not much time to sit indoors anyway! Most spots in Acadia were 20-30 mins away so it was a great jumping off spot for both the east and west sides of MDI. We especially recommend a sunset or sunrise hike on Beech Mountain (only about 10 mins away). There were plenty of boats and life jackets for everyone to get out on the pond and the dock is very peaceful for just relaxing.
One small note is that we didn’t know to bring our own bath soaps, so we had to run out and get some. Not a big issue and overall we loved our stay and would definitely go back!

This house was a fantastic place to stay when visiting Acadia. The lakeside location and the available boats added to the comfort of the home. I think it's even nicer than the pictures showed!

Perfectly secluded pond house with dock and plenty of boats and beds for the whole family! The house is newer and yet retains charm. We loved hanging out by the wood stove and cooking in the kitchen, plenty of cookware and utensils are provided. The wood stove was prepped with kindling and wood which was a nice touch! There is no teapot so you'll need to boil water the old school way or use the Keurig with no insert if you want hot water for tea. The house was clean, though my wife can't sit still even on vacation and managed to find SOMETHING to clean while we were there lol. The basement area is a little musty but they have a dehumidifier running and Tim says they are working on a permanent solution to the problem. It wasn't a big problem for us, we kept the windows open downstairs while we were there and it was workable. Tim was very responsive to communication through the app and called us immediately after we reported a problem with the GFCI causing the gas stove to stop working (at 7 AM!).
The location to Acadia and various points of interest is perfect, just far enough that you're away from crowds, but not far enough that it seems like a slog to get anywhere. It feels like an oasis.
Overall, we loved staying at the pond house and the kids have already asked if we can return next year!

We loved the location and seeing the sunrise and sunset over the lake. The amenities were out standing and the house was well equipped. We enjoyed eating breakfast on the deck and using the firepit on the patio. The only thing that I would say to improve is to blow off the patio and deck when airing out the house and to use air fresheners.

Our group of 6 enjoyed our stay at this beautiful property. The house has lake access with lots of water rafts, kayaks, canoe and a paddle boat. Great hiking nearby. Well stocked kitchen and lake views from all the bedrooms.

We (2 families of 4 adults and 3 kids) really enjoyed the house on the lake. Perfect location in a quiet spot in the woods with a view on the lake, lots of space, well stocked kitchen, games and puzzles for kids and adults, outdoor cooking equipment, and even boating equipment to use on the lake! The owners have been very communicative and helped us sort through any questions we had quickly. They even gave us some money back as the house temporarily lost power during a storm while we were there, even though this was of no fault of theirs. We're hoping to stay in that house again when we visit Acadia next time.

This is a harder one to write about, as there were issues which should have been noticed by the caretakers for the property, and weren't. That said, the host was amazing in readily responding and working to resolve the issues during our stay, some of which needed more time.
The weather, not under any control of owner(!), didn't give us the opportunity to use the various water sport items.
The size and arrangement of the rooms was perfect for us, three couples. All was very comfortable, although the lowest level was not useable by us because of maintenance issues discovered when we arrived. (Musty aroma, very damp) Still, there were enough rooms for us to be accommodated. It's very likely that all of the issues that we experienced will be completely resolved by the time any future visitors will want to choose this great property.

Private and quiet. So convenient to hikes, restaurants, a wonderful library in Southwest Harbor, other beaches. So many different water vehicles. My granddaughter will never forget taking her first lesson (from her father —with life vests on) on paddling a canoe. Attentive host.

This was our second time staying at this amazing property. We love the location, we felt close to everything we wanted to do on Mount Desert Island. Also, being on the water allowed our children plenty of time to fish, swim, and paddle board. All the water toys we could want (canoes, paddle board, kayaks, etc) were provided which saved us from having to bring them.
The beds are comfortable, the kitchen has everything you may have forgotten, and the deck and screened in porch are the perfect places to relax.
We have stayed at many different properties on MDI and this is, by far, the best we have stayed at.

Beautiful, secluded and serene setting. My family loved the opportunity for water activities: swimming, kayaking, and paddle boarding on Long Pond. At night we enjoyed S'mores by the firepit and listening to the loons. It was a lovely Maine getaway.

The location and home were amazing. Kayaking on the pond made the trip for the children in our party.
More than enough space for two families. Everything you need for a wonderful vacation is included.

What a beautiful lakeside house! We have been to the Bar Harbor area many times and have finally found the perfect vacation spot for our family. The house was so peaceful with loons spotted on the lake while kayaking and standing on the dock. We look forward to returning as soon as there is availability!

We had a lovely time at the lake house. It was very close to Acadia, Southwest Harbor, and Bar Harbor. We loved the kayaks and sitting out on the dock. The kitchen was easy to cook in. All of the kids books and toys were very helpful! Highly recommend this beautiful getaway for families.

This was a spectacular stay. The host was stellar - accessible, quick to respond, polite and very helpful. It is apparent that he cares about your stay. The house is beautiful and well appointed. It had everything we needed, good wi-fi, kitchen gear, etc. The location was perfect for us -secluded, yet a pleasant drive into Bar Harbor where my husband attended a daily conference. You could really appreciate the fall foliage at this house as it is surrounded by woods and backs up to a parcel of Acadia National Park. The view of the pond from the deck is stunning. We would love to stay at this house again in the summer or any season.

We arrived "home" every day to a newly constructed, immaculately kept lakeside residence that offered the perfect balance between seclusion and proximity to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. We appreciated the tranquil setting even more after scaling nearby Beech Mountain (part of Acadia) for a bird's eye view of Long Pond and the cove on which the home sits. We loved the modern kitchen, and opting to cook many of our meals at the property, many of which feature fresh seafood we bought locally. Anyone expecting to spend some extra time at the property and get a sound night's sleep should seriously consider this property.

What a great location on Long Pond (lake) with a dock, canoe, kayaks, and stand-up paddle boards that were great to use. House layout was great with views of the lake on every floor. We loved the location as it was secluded but relatively close to many of the sightseeing areas and hiking trails in Acadia NP. Exactly what we were looking for. We had 4 couples and had plenty of room to spread out in the house. We will definitely rent Tim's place again when we get back to Acadia NP.

Very quiet and secluded. Loved using the hammock, fire pit, peddle boat and canoe. Fantastic outdoor space, but comfy enough indoors too. Puzzles and books and games kept us busy during down time. Absolutely loved staying here!

This is a lovely property. The pictures do not do justice to its beautiful setting on Great Long Pond. The property is well situated in a quiet part of the island with easy access by car to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. The owners are attentive, and there are a number of fun summer activities right on site (kayaks, paddle boards, a swim platform, etc.). Definitely recommended!

This was the perfect spot for our family to stay while exploring Acadia. This house is perfectly located, a short drive to any MDI location. After a busy day hiking or biking, we all enjoyed heading back to the house. While the kids swam or used the paddle boards in the protected cove, the adults fished or relaxed on the amazing porch! A fire on the patio was the perfect way to end our day.

This is a wonderful lake house to rent. The variety of water “boats” available was great. Loved the floating dock for the last of the afternoon sun.
The procedure and communications with Tim were excellent.

Great week
All of us enjoyed our week at Tim's house and it's a simply wonderful location as well! Pictures of the house on VRBO don't do it justice - it's even better in person!

Fantastic house!
Perfect location to see all that Acadia has to offer! Wonderfully comfortable beds, spacious rooms and lovely decor. Communication was easy. Offered lots of outdoor activities which we didn’t get to take advantage of since it was still pretty chilly out but will next time for sure! Thank you for a great stay with my husband and in-laws!

Two wonderful weeks on Long Pond
This beautiful house was perfect for our Maine vacation with family and friends. The location on Long Pond, the layout of the house, availability of kayaks, proximity to hiking trails, and gorgeous views from all the bedroom windows, deck, and screened-in porch, along with the peace and quiet---it was exactly what we were looking for. The owner was very responsive to any questions we had.

Awesome lake house
Comfortable and convenient. Beautiful lake views particularly for the sunrise. Enjoyed the dock for swimming and a large selection of watercraft (including a paddle boat!). Located on the quiet side of Mount Desert Island but very convenient to all attractions. Very comfortable with all amenities including a very comfortable deck overlooking the lake. House has everything you could want for a comfortable stay. Only thing we had to bring was the food!

Lakefront Retreat
You really can’t top the location of this rental home - lakefront and (literally) steps away from National Park land. This was a great home base for our group of 5 adults to see the sites of MDI and Acadia National Park. A short drive to great hikes, as well as the restaurants, bars, and shops of Bar Harbor. The house itself was nice overall, with a big, open, first floor living area that was perfect for groups, and we enjoyed the lake equipment provided as well as the fire pit. However, one of the upstairs beds was quite uncomfortable and creaky. Still, able to overlook something like that for the setting. The sound of the loons was just beautiful, and seeing how clear and visible the stars were from the dock was an unexpected treat.

Awesome vacation house on Long Pond
We had a great stay at Tim's house on Long Pond. The place had more than enough room for the 6 adults that we had on our trip. We loved the deck, fire ring, kayaks, canoes, listening to the loons, sunrise on the pond, hiking, reading books, etc.... oh and we also visited Acadia National Park. The house had everything we needed for our trip and so much more. We had a minor hiccup with the cleaning when we arrived, but we contacted Tim and he immediately had the cleaners come back to fix the problems. Tim has been great to deal with on this rental and we enjoyed our conversations/emails with him. Thanks a lot Tim for sharing your house.

We had a wonderful stay at Tim's lovely lake house. It was bright and spacious, with plenty of room to spread out. Well-equipped kitchen and nice amenities. Having kayaks and SUP's was a big plus. Enjoyed some wildlife sightings: eagles, a heron, loons. The property manager was very responsive when the float needed a minor repair.

Perfect, lakeside home.
This is a beautiful house on a lake, with all the amenities of home. Clean and comfortable with a well-appointed kitchen made cooking family dinners easy. The kayaks, SUPs and canoe made exploring the lake east and fun. Close proximity to Acadia made it easy to visit the park. Will definitely come back.
