About this house rental
The Kona Palm House has a total of 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. The Master with Cal King bed is located upstairs with an en suite bathroom and walk in closet. The half bathroom is located next to the kitchen at the top of the stairs. Also, upstairs you will find a formal dining room, living room, a dedicated office, the kitchen, a breakfast nook and a set of double doors that open onto our wrap around upper lanai. On this upper lanai you will find a hammock, a sitting area and a bar height table to enjoy the views while drinking coffee or enjoying a meal.
The kitchen is well stocked, since as we ourselves love to cook, and we wanted all our guests who enjoy cooking to also have all the tools you might need. In the kitchen you will find a gas stove top located in the center island of the kitchen. As this is a propane stove it runs HOT so you might need to keep an eye on things while cooking if you are not familiar with propane. There is a full-sized oven located just across the way from the stove in our mango wood cabinets. Our pantry is often stocked with many spices so before buying any at the store you may want to peek to see if we already have it. We also have a Kitchenaid, Cusinart, pots and pans, baking sheets and dishes and many cooking utensils.
The living room is very spacious with oversized furniture and ample light. Upstairs you will also find our dedicated work space with office chair located just off the kitchen. Should you need to do some work while here, this is a great space as it is separate, but not to far away from everything going on.
Downstairs you will find a second living room/bonus room, the doors to the lower lanai and pool area, the two other bedrooms, and the second full-sized bathroom. Both downstairs bedrooms have Queen sized beds. The “Green” bedroom is located Makai (oceanside) and is to the right at the bottom of the stairs. This room has a sliding glass door that opens onto the lower lanai and has direct access to the pool. The second full bathroom is between the “Green” and “Tan” bedrooms and is quite large. When you walk into the bathroom you will see the show/tub and toilet have their own doors to close them off from the rest of the bathroom. The “Tan” room is located Mauka (mountainside) and is just past the “Green” room and downstairs bathroom. The sliding door in this room opens onto the side of the house and gives you access to the front grass area and lower lanai, via the side of the house. This room also has large windows that open to allow a great breeze that blows down the mountain.
All bedrooms have ceilings fans for your use. Each bedroom also has a TV with unique DVD player that doubles as a streaming device. These DVD players can all log onto Hulu, Netflix and other streaming services for your use.
The downstairs bonus room is where our largest TV is located, 55”, and has a KOA wood bar and stools. In this bonus room is also where you will find a comfortable pull out sofa sleeper.
In the garage you will find our set of washer and dryer and a second full sized refrigerator. This is convenient to keep drinks in for easy access as well as prepped meals that are planning to be BBQ’d.
The Kona Palm House is centrally located close to dining, shopping, beaches, harbor and airport. Only 30 minutes away from the Kohala resorts and beaches.

Great stay! Gorgeous sunset views from the 2 outside lanais. Well-stocked kitchen, perfect for all our cooking endeavours. Thoughtful touches like tourist books. Looked just like it did in the online listing. A relaxing stay for us.

This was our first experience with VRBO. The location was perfect, it was a quiet neighbourhood, close enough to all amenities. The house was clean and spacious, we had 7 people in our party and we all felt we had our own space. The pool was wonderful! We enjoyed our stay!

While this property is not on the beach, the location had a spectacular view of the ocean. Our sunsets every night were a site to behold! All of our Island trips avoided the traffic of Kona. While we were not able to enjoy the pool as much as we would have liked (it was February), we enjoyed the poolside every evening. The grill set up was great! This house had all the fixings. We really felt we were at home.

Unless you're familiar with Kona's neighborhoods, it's difficult to estimate the "softer" aspects of how a home's location may impact your vacation (read below for details possibly important to you). Props for general cleanliness, a generous amount of cooking tools and equipment, accommodations for younger children (not our demographic), and initial cleaning supplies. House sits atop a fairly steep driveway, which may be a concern for mobility-impaired guests wishing to walk the neighborhood. Other details summarized below.
😃 Pleasant/prompt owner communication - lovely porch w/ocean view & breeze - central location to Kona/Waikoloa - plenty of board games, beach chairs, pool toys - plenty of inside comfortable seating.
😑 (no fault of the owners!) This is not your typical quiet-ish tourist area…it’s a residential neighborhood with no quiet hours. Soundscape includes revving cars in driveways, audible late-night heated “conversations”, frequent toddler melt-downs, a symphony of noisy power tools from all sides at all hours, barking dogs, loud trucks and Harleys blaring music, screaming (versus crowing) roosters, and an army of nearby coqui frogs. All who live in this neighborhood are busy living their best lives…but be certain this environment meets your vacation expectations.
☹️ Only two comfortable porch chairs - well-worn pillows and only 2 pillows per person in all bedrooms - lower-end bed/bath linens - all TVs not connected to Dish TV - no TV in main living room - pool not heated - various hardware and cabinetry loose - no lighting for stairs leading to lower level - edges of area rugs curled up enough to present tripping hazard - no house “book” with garbage rules and pickup schedule, house guidelines, check-out expectations, etc. (though owner promptly answered questions).

Good overall. Be aware: noisy residential neighborhood.

Great experience!
The house was just as described - big and roomy. The house is in a great location. The owner was amazing to work with.

House was very clean and comfortable. Appreciated having a few garbage bags, dishwasher soap, paper towel, etc there at the start - nice touch. We really enjoyed the upper lanai - extraordinary sunrise and sunset views! Only thing that could have made it better was comfy seating out there for our group of 8. There is plenty of room for furniture, so would be a nice addition to have an outdoor couch and chairs. Thank you for sharing your home!

Great property, cool temperatures, wonderful outdoor space
Thanks for letting us experience your beautiful home, we loved the outdoor space and the cool temperatures at elevation, wished we could have had a week where the vog was not active so we could have enjoyed the view more, but no way controlling Pele
Lots of space to spread out, great kitchen, and enough outdoor space to pretty much live outside, we hope to stay at your lovely home again, Mahalo

exceeded our expectations...will be back!
Our recent family stay in Kona was wonderful. We were looking for a house to accommodate 4 adults, a baby and well behaved dogs that was close to downtown Kona, the north coast and the saddle road. The house was perfect, very well kept and very spacious. My husband and I slept upstairs while the kids and grandbaby had the entire lower level to themselves. With both levels opening to the outdoors (upper level to the deck, lower level to the pool area) It allowed everyone to be together but have space as well. I can't say enough about the house. It was lovely and extremely well equipped, from every kitchen gadget to beach chairs and a fabulous deck. Situated up the mountain gave us a great distance view of the water even though we were in a neighborhood. We expected the house to be nice but it way exceeded our expectations. Monica your photos, although nice, do not do your home justice. We will certainly contact you again if we need a home away from home in Kona.
Mahalo!

Rent This Property!!
Monica was very easy to work with and shared with us a handful of Big Island "out of the way" destinations. We had previously rented a home that upon our arrival on 02/01/15 was infested with biting red ants. Monica saved our vacation!!! This large home far exceeded our expectations. Separate entrances, large stocked kitchen, large master bedroom with beautiful attached bathroom and large walk-in closet, den with Wi-Fi, a brand new, cable TV in every bedroom, propane barbeque, very nice pool and sunbathing deck. The boys went deep sea fishing so we barbequed our fish that evening. We enjoyed a sunny, beautiful "day of a lifetime" at TWO STEP BEACH. We snorkeled with thousands of colorful fish, dozens of spinner dolphins in their own habitat, green sea turtles and a tail slapping whale 200 feet away from us. What could have been a disaster vacation, ended up being THE VACATION all future vacations will have to live up to. Thank you Monica!!!
