About this cottage rental
Private guest cottage, located four miles from the main entrance station to Sequoia-Kings Canyon National Park, one mile off the main highway in Three Rivers. An artfully appointed interior and building design, a sweeping meadow below the panoramic window, brings you to nature's edge. Simplicity and comfort welcome you to your home away from home.
Fitting snugly into the the hillside, the 400 square foot cottage has an open floor plan and was designed and built in 1985 as a special home for the host's Grandma. Grandma's favorite color of blue is found in the dishes, carpets, linens and furniture. A panoramic half-circle window frames the Sierra Nevada Foothills and meadow outside, and provides a magnificent setting for the star-studded night sky and the full moon rise from behind the mountains across the canyon.
The natural setting is breathtaking for this private guest cottage deep in Salt Creek Canyon at the foot of Case Mountain. Located at 1200 ft elevation in the Sierra Nevada foothills, the cottage is surrounded by higher mountains and is situated at the end of a road in a rural subdivision.
During the “wet” season (usually from November to April), winter and spring dominate the landscape. Snow can often be found at the higher elevations in the National Park and chains might be needed to access Giant Forest. Several places in Three Rivers offer chain rentals. The foothills turn green with the seasonal rains and the wildflower season begins at the cottage elevation around March and April. The spring wildflower bloom migrates up the elevation climb, culminating in spectacular mountain meadow blossoming in Sequoia National Park during the early summer months. The “dry” season (usually from May to October) brings warmer temperatures in Three Rivers in the summer, along with drying foothills turning golden brown. The higher elevations in the National Park offer cooler temperatures for hiking along the many trails.
The Case Mountain Recreation Area, public land via the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), is located a short walking distance from the cottage parking area. This area has become the premier hiking area for locals and visitors. Many foot trails and mountain biking trails are a favorite experience for guests. During the spring, this area is profuse with blooming native wildflowers. Many trail guides and nature books can be found in the cottage. Elsah, your host, is a founding member of the local California Native Plant Society and can answer questions about the local flora and fauna.
A TV, equipped with Dish Network, and a DVD player is found in the living room. A distinctive library of books is available for thoughtful browsing. Iron and ironing board, flashlight, board games, bathing supplies, hair dryer and other amenities are offered for guests. The cooling system for summer months is a ductless air conditioner which keeps the cottage cool and comfortable, and also heats the cottage in the winter. The cottage has a telephone that allows for unlimited long distance calling (in USA only). Only ATT cell phones work in this area. WIFI via Viasat satellite internet access is available (limited data use.)
The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, including microwave, gas stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, and all dishes and cooking utensils. Freshly ground French roast coffee, both regular and decaf, and a wide assortment of herbal teas and English teas, along with cream and sugar is provided. There is an outside flower and herb bed at the level of the kitchen window at the sink.
There is a queen-size bed, with down comforter in the bedroom area and a futon sofa in the living room which opens to a full-size bed. Please let the Elsah, the host, know if you need the extra bed to be made up for you. The bathroom has a tiled step down shower, which also doubles as a sit down bath tub. The open floor plan for the cottage includes partial walls and curtains between the living room and bedroom area, providing visual privacy.
The outside deck is made from the circular bottom of a large redwood wine vat. A shade umbrella and table with chairs provide an outdoor living space.
The cottage is dander-free. No pets are allowed. Host has one cat who is not allowed in the cottage.

Lovely view surrounded by nature
Adorable cottage with a great book selection. We loved sitting on the porch drinking tea and bird watching. It is truly an oasis. The host is also very nice and responsive and her cat Michelangelo is super cute. Also very convenient to Sequoia and Kings National Parks!

A pleasant Get-Away from the Covid-19 pandemic.
A nice secluded little cottage with easy access to the Sequoias and a great view of the mountains.. The early mornings are full of bird songs of the Acorn woodpeckers, the quails, the blue jays and numerous other birds, Very enjoyable.

There's no place like this home!
This guest house was perfect for my husband and I! It's very cozy but still very comfortable and there is unique, eclectic, beautiful personality tucked into nearly every square inch. The home perfectly reflects and embodies the surrounding natural magic of the outdoor space and stunning mountain side view with wide open skyscape for perfect star gazing at night. Lots of cool wildlife, too! We were visited by a family of quail, a deer, lizards, the hosts' cat, and an entertaining variety of birds. I would love to stay here again and longer!

Wonderful private setting looking onto the mountains
Lovely cozy cottage with good lay-out for a couple. Very quiet, private and clean. Enjoyed the cozy deck each morning for coffee when the temperatures were still cool. The scents from the herb garden around the cottage were really heavenly. Close proximity to Sequioa National Park and Mineral King. It is a 2+hour drive to Kings Canyon (worth the trip, but long drive).Had a family of quail who visited every morning, as well as Acorn Woodpeckers. Air conditioner cooled the small cottage off very well within 20-30 minutes of being turned on. Necessary as the daytime temperature was 97-102 when we were there.Well stocked with dishes, cookware and linens. Would have loved to stay much longer!

The Cozy Cort Cottage
The Cort Cottage was a perfect place for our exploration of the area. We only wish we had more time to stay longer. There is so much to see in this area and we barely scratched the surface. It's wonderful to stay in such a quiet picturesque place and have the luxury of preparing our own meals. The owner gave us plenty of privacy, but after seeing her artwork, we just had to meet her.

Beautiful Magical Unique Space Amazing View
The cottage was amazing from the moment you arrive and walk down the path. Every inch of the property inside and out is thought out and decorated with such love and care. The book selections are amazing. The view is amazing. It feels so cozy and inspiring inside the cottage with a great kitchen as well. I would come back here in a heartbeat! I have stayed at many Airbnb’s and vacation rentals and this one stands out due to how much attention the host puts on making the space it’s own experience. We also left with one of her artist collection calanders as well. Her art is very spiritual and is hanging on the walls. This place is a pure unique gem. Do it !!

Sequoia getaway
We arrived after dark and Elsah left us plenty of directions to find our way. It's not easy to find after dark! But when you find it, it's pretty special. It's a small cottage. It worked well for two adults and two young children. It would be ideal for a couple too.
It's a good place as a base from which to explore Sequoia National Park. The cottage has a great small library. The owner is an artist and has a very interesting collection of books on the shelves...which is always fun to explore someone's book collection. The half circle window is a big feature of the room and connects the cottage to the outdoors. The view of the mountains is great.
Loved the place, loved Three Rivers, loved Sequoia!

Everything we needed in a great location
Elsah was warm and lovely, and we really enjoyed our time in her cottage. My husband, my two elementary school daughters, and I were visiting Sequoia for a few days and wanted a place to stay that was close to the park. Elsah's cottage had everything we needed, even flashlights and different sized coolers so we could easily pack our lunches for the day. There's very little light pollution nearby, so we were able to lie out on the lawn and watch a meteor shower one night. Also, Elsah's binder of information and recommendations is kept up to date so there was really useful current information that we used while we were there. The beds were comfortable, too!

Eclectic cottage with a view
This cozy one room cottage had a beautiful view of the Sierra foothils and was on the edge of the wild.
We enjoyed the daily visits of the California quail covy and other birds from the big picture window.
Breakfast al fresco each morning was a treat.
Elsah's art work adorned the walls and was esthetically pleasing.
Close proximity to the BIG trees in the national park was a big plus as we beat the crowds.
The sunken shower was not for the vertiginous and the place cold have used a good cobwebbing and a real door on the bathroom would have been a plus for my wife.
The price was excellent and the landlord directed us to good places to hike away from the crowds.
Overall a good experience.

Great Stay at Elsah's in Three Rivers
We had a very nice time at Elsah's cottage in Three Rivers. The cottage is cozy with a great view of the mountains. The outside area is landscaped beautifully- even though we were there in winter time we could smell the sage and other native plants that were planted around the property. It was a really relaxing spot to unwind during the Christmas holiday.
Elsah was very available to help out, too, stopping by once to check in, but also leaving us our privacy. She made good recommendations for a really nice local hike (it starts just down the road about 200ft!) and other details about the area. The kitchen, bedroom, bathroom are all set up well with everything necessary to have a comfortable and relaxing stay. Also, there was coffee and cream in the fridge when we arrived!

Lovely country cottage
Elsah's cottage was perfect for our four-night stay to visit Sequioa National Park. It has everything you need (good bed, good shower, good kitchen) and extra touches, like the sunken tiled shower/bath, Elsah's artwork and an excellent book selection. Someday we'll come back when the garden is in bloom and spend the day on the patio watching the sun on the hill across the way. Highly recommended, unless you have trouble with steps. If you eat out, go to the Ol Buckaroo.

Very nice cottage
We stayed with our 3 kids (a little one sleeps with us) after camping in Sequoia, and really enjoyed - the books and games, the view from the window, the little hike that Elsah suggested, the peace and quite. The cottage is designed with a lot of taste, a real pleasure to be there.

Cottage Four Miles from Sequoia Nat'l Park, Three Rivers
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Cort Cottage. My husband and adult daughter and I stayed here for three nights while exploring Sequoia Nat'l Park. We prepared a few meals and found this to be a quiet respite. The views from the living room window were great! Looking out over a meadow and the mountains beyond. The cottage is a short drive to Three Rivers where you will find a few restaurants and markets. Cozy and charming the owner also brought us breakfast items for our stay!
