About this house rental
St Patrick on the Chesapeake bay is a most beautiful home with distinctive european flair and a peaceful and private vacation destination. The beautiful 4500 square foot home is nestled amidst mature hollies, dogwoods, and pine trees, flowers and statuary, overlooking a pristine sandy beach. The property is situated on a high bluff at the mouth where the bay meets the Atlantic Ocean
The 1.5 acre manicured Mediterranean garden was artistically designed and created by the owners who moved to the shore in 1989 directly from Italy. The home is spacious and offers two large living rooms with views of the bay and enchanting garden. There are several places to contemplate nature. An amazing terrace jetting out over the high bluff is the most scenic spot to observe dolphins, sea birds and water men collecting their daily catch. The westerly views offer magical sunsets over the water. Close to a state park and the historic victorian bay front town of Cape Charles.
Meandering, mysterious paths are an invitation to follow the way to a heavenly hidden natural corner where one can truly relate with mother nature. A true oasis away from the hustle and bustle of every day life and yet so convenient to the many amenities the area offers.
The home itself is very spacious with large picture windows and cathedral ceilings. What makes this home unique and distinguished is the elegant European style noticeable in the furnishings and overall decor. As you enter the main front door you are welcomed into a very large open living room/foyer that features an imposing fireplace and French doors leading onto the picturesque deck that visually embraces the lush lawns and stunning Chesapeake Bay beyond. The outstanding green room is a feature worth highlighting as it offers a 500 sq. foot space also with fireplace and 3 absolutely charming bay windows each framing a different landscape view of the park-like garden.
From the back deck , a picturesque gold fish pond and waterfall is a soothing view to enjoy while outdoor grilling and dining. The master bedroom is furnished with museum- worthy last century Neapolitan custom made mahogany furniture and features a quaint sitting room bay window area to take in the spectacular view.
The bay front state park just a few minutes away offers numerous hiking trails, fishing pier and boat ramp. The historic Victorian bay side town of Cape Charles is 10 minutes away and offers shops, a variety of restaurants, a historic live theatre, signature gold courses, tennis and fitness center.

Our family (ages 80-to-newborn) had a wonderful week staying at this property. The grounds were beautiful, rooms were spacious, and the owners were easy to communicate with. The private beach was a big plus and we enjoyed the history of the home.

Our family of 11 enjoyed the private beach setting of the bay for our 2 year old. Spent many an hour with hermit crabs and walking out to the sand bar. Spacious and many rooms to spread out in for relaxing and reading and playing! The exterior gardens need some work on which the owner indicated will be done this summer.

Its a beautiful house with lots of room.

We enjoyed watching the sunset on the Bay every night!

This was our second summer in Cape Charles, and a third one for our friends. The past years we stayed in the town proper, but this time, nothing was available there and we stumbled upon St. Patrick listing. It was a great fit for our group of 12. We had 6 adults and 6 teens/adolescents, ranging from 13 to 20 years of age. The house is huge, the property is gorgeous, and it’s literally stairs to a private beach. The sunsets and sunrises on the deck are some of the best you have seen in your life, the kitchen has all the appliances needed to make a meal, the deck is a welcoming place where we spent many evenings playing trivia games, the huge living room was a welcoming place to watch TV or cuddle with multiple books and the dining table fit 13 of us comfortably so we had many meals there as we cooked pretty much all the time except for two evenings. Overall, we had a great stay, with only one issue of the second floor AC not working on the last night and also, one of the first floor bedrooms only had a small vent in the floor so the room would get hot in the night and the only way to keep cool would be to open the doors so that cold air from the rest of the first floor would come in.
Also, the listing mentions towels are provided and the lease sent said they were not, glad I picked up on this detail. I don’t kind packing towels, but I would have minded coming with 12 people and no towels so the listing should be revised.
Other than that, this is really an amazing home!

Private beach, historic place, nostalgic. Good location. Nice host, needs some maintenance on the exterior but overall a very nice place to spend with family.

We had a wonderful time at the house. It is spacious and well-equipped. I can't overstate how amazing it was having the private beach! Our kids had the best time, and when they exhausted themselves down there they enjoyed the large TV area. Very relaxing trip and we hope to be back!

The house was awesome and very accommodating for our extended family (12 of us) of all ages. The beach access was also great as the kids (and adults) love the water. Chasing crabs was a favorite pastime.
In the house, there was plenty of bedrooms and rooms to gather or go off for quiet time. The yard and view of the bay were also very beautiful. I would visit again and highly recommend.

This was our 3rd visit to St Patrick and it was as perfect as ever. The house offers plenty of space and grounds for our 6 adult/6 kid crew. And the beach is the best part. Perfect for little ones because it is very calm. Perfect place to spend quality time making memories!

My family absolutely loved this rental. It is the best location with access to the beach. Not far from town. Kitchen is brand new. Lots of bedrooms and bathrooms. We plan on coming back next year. Luisa & Clelia were a pleasure to work with.

The St. Patrick did not disappoint! The location is outstanding. The kitchen was spacious. The dining room had room for the whole family. The house was kid friendly, as we had 6 kids between ages 1-6. The only challenge for us were all the stairs and trying to keep the kids safe- but no one got hurt. It might be a challenge for older adults or those with disabilities. Although, there were two bedrooms on the first floor. All the bedrooms were spacious. We really had a good beach experience. They had several comfortable beach chairs and an umbrella, so we didn't have to pack any. The auxiliary fridge in the garage was super useful for drinks and a giant watermelon. We would definitely return!

This was a wonderful escape for our family. We were looking for a little adventure for our family of 6 (4 kids from 4-14) and my parents. The house is spacious, gorgeous, and charming. Everything you need is there. The private beach is easy access and the property has numerous great views. The antique furniture and decor adds the charm. The property is also just 10 minutes away from downtown Cape Charles.
It was perfect for what we were looking for.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and this gorgeous property and home. We look forward to the opportunity to stay there again in the future when we pass through the area. Thank you for being gracious hosts. Accommodating and easy to work with. Quick in corresponding.

Great location, we totally enjoyed our stay. The house, however lovely is beginning to show the signs of neglect. It does not live up to its past
reputation.

We ladies gathered together to visit Cape Charles, VA for the first time and THiS was THE PERFECT HOME to stay in! The estate itself is beyond beautiful, with lush gardens and gentle paths leading you towards hidden statues or soothing ponds....and the house!!! Just lovely! Plenty of bedrooms and space to relax, a large social table to gather over a tasty meal and make new memories! The stairs leading you down to the beach open up to a sunny expanse of sand that's all yours to explore! Clear waters invite you to swim, SUP, kayak or just to marvel at! (There's a wonderful local business that rents SUPs or kayaks and brings them to your location!) After a day of sun and sand, visit the charming town full of adorable shops and restaurants....just be sure to visit the brewery AND the cidery! Our host went above and beyond to make sure we had all the comforts of home and her beautiful artwork can be seen throughout the house. We will DEFINATELY be back!!!

The house is in a beautiful area and nicely setup for a quiet vacation. We really enjoyed the gardens and the areas to sit and see the sunsets. The house has a nice library and had enough space for there to be quiet time. Another nice part was being close to the park it was easy to just rent kayaks at the park and to go hiking there. I would recommend using those kayak over trying to rent them from town. The park is well done with lots of great hiking trails.

This is not your typical rental home, it is beautifully decorated with a great family history.
You get a lot for your money, many extras included.
We will return next year.
Thank You!

Words and pictures cannot describe the beauty of this house. It has all around charm. From the garden in the front to the backyard deck area, and of course the private beach, everything you need to enjoy a relaxing vacation is right here. We were four couples, three with kids under 2. The house was incredibly spacious. We each had our own bedroom and bathroom and there were plenty of areas in the house and outside to getaway. We never felt like we were on top of each other. The large dining area was perfect for enjoying our meals together and feeding the kids. The kitchen was very spacious and well equipped. We made sure to enjoy the sunset from the deck overlooking the water every evening. The backyard deck was perfect for grilling and the beautiful trees provided just the right amount of shade. Luisa was incredibly responsive and accommodating! We would definitely stay here again!

We all had a great time and loved the place. We were there with 3 babies a toddler and 6 adults. There was lots of room for all of us including a decent sized yard which we had an easter egg hunt in. As well as the space the kitchen is well equipped and we grilled out a few times too. The beach is an easy walk down the bottom of the yard and was very quiet and private. It is a wonderful location and a lovely home.

We spent with another family thanksgiving in this very homely location. The house is very cosy and we all loved to be so close on the beach. The sunsets were always very impressive. Everywhere in the house you can find Clelia’s - one of the landlords- painted picture. Great!
The kids (4) played a lot in the sand, used the little boat and were looking for shells, coral rests and other. It was good to be so close to the shore.
I can highly recommend the house and also the nice and friendly landlords, Louisa and her sister. Thank you, we will definitely come back. Gerda

We had a great stay in Cape Charles and thanks to Sheila and Luisa the home we stayed in was perfect for our family gathering. The setting was beautiful on a quiet road with the Bay in the back drop. The home was spacious and perfect for our gathering for the weekend. I would recommend it to anyone traveling to the Cape Charles region!

I can't say enough wonderful things about this property. It is beautiful in every way and extremely clean. The beds are so comfortable and the house is full of character and detail. The private beach is amazing, will continue to stay yearly. Very friendly owners who are willing to help.

Beautiful location, nicely furnished, everything we needed for a family gathering to attend my son's wedding.

The house is in a nice quiet location, really peaceful and relaxing. We had 10 people and found the house to be more than enough space that we weren't tripping over each other. The dining room table was huge and perfect for family meals, but the best part of the house was the private beach!
We had an issue with the water that was very quickly resolved. Luisa was great, made the whole process very smooth. Thank you for everything, and thank you for letting us use the paddle boat, the kids loved it, and it let us see the shore from a different point of view.
We hope to go back soon!
