Breakfast was good. Staff were very helpful.
Bathroom was tiny.

The staff really took care of us here. We were working by the river and they packed us lunches for our long days. They were very accommodating to us drying things on the gated patio. The local is close to the mall and it was easy to find dinner or pick up things we needed. Rooms were decent size and very clean. Breakfast was great.

The location is really good, close to airport and terminal terrestre and also safe (it's walled and gated, so you can sit outside in the patio). They also have balconies and the interior design is really beautiful. Many thanks to the owner who stayed up until after midnight to open the gate for me (my flight was delayed by 90 minutes). The check in experience was very good and she personally made me breakfast the next morning asking about special requests like how I want my eggs done etc., very attentive. Wifi also worked great. The room, towels and bed linen were clean.
The common spaces are not air conditioned and therefore very hot and humid (typical Guayaquil climate). Also they kind of don't have a shuttle. Technically there is one but it's very expensive, so taking a taxi from the terminal to the hotel and back is advised (5 USD at night).

Hostal Macaw is a very delightful and wonderful place to stay. Excellent breakfast !! it will always be my go-to location when visiting Guayaquil. The Manager and staff are the kindest and most helpful hoteliers I have ever stayed with. I am grateful for all their help with transportation.

A very friendly and efficiently run establishment. Good communication beforehand, we were arriving after a very late flight, taxi dropped us at 1.30 am, we rang the doorbell and receptionist was expecting us so no issues with checking in late. Lovely staff comfortable beds, shower room fine & filtered water available any time. Super nice staff & owner, knowledgeable and gave helpful info & advice when asked. Good breakfast with fresh fruit, good coffee, eggs however you liked etc. We were staying here just one night before flying to Galápagos for a week but after our return flight we had a delay with collecting our hire car so did not want to start out on our planned journey to Cuenca when it was already almost dark. We turned up on the doorstep of Hostal Macaw and asked if they had a room for that night as well and were delighted to find they could accommodate us. Would stay here again and recommend.
On a map it looks as if it is really close to the airport, which it may be as the crow flies, but in reality it is quite a convoluted route due to dual carriageway.

very clean, modern, hosts are kind and helpful.
location was in a neighborhood that felt removed from easy access to stores and restaurants- however, I didn’t really explore the area and so can’t say for sure.

The hosts went above and beyond to be helpful and make our stay pleasant. They helped us plan our visit to the city and with all of our needs, and the owner used to be a diving guide in the Galápagos islands and can share amazing stories.
Breakfast was delicious and hearty, with fresh fruits, juice, eggs and great home made jams.
Rooms are very clean, with comfortable beds and a good hot shower. The garden and corridors are filled with lovely plants.
Short walking distance from Mall de Sol, and a taxi to the touristic center is a 10-20 minutes ride (3 dollars). 10 minutes from the Airport.
Bathroom size was a bit small (but the shower was comfy).
Windows in the room are small

Lovely place to stay with comfortable and clean rooms. Gracious and kind host who gave us all the advice we needed and prepared a delicious breakfast for us. I would definitely stay here again!
The taxi driver had some trouble finding the hotel, but that was not the hotel's fault.
