There is a key safe located to the rear of the lodge and the keys were stored in them securely. We were given the key code in ample time of our arrival. The housekeeper allowed us early check-in due to arriving earlier than 3pm which was very much appreciated when we were travelling in from 7 hours away.
When we arrived we found the property clean and tidy with a basket of beverages and milk in the fridge. This was also appreciated.
The lodge was spacious with plenty of seating for all of our guests but we think the lodge needs a little makeover as we found scuffed paint around the place plus the issues mentioned below.
The lodge is in a good location and we visited many places such as Port Isaac, Newquay, Wadebridge, Padstow, Truro, The Eden Project and Lands End. All of which was within driving distance with good road links. We had no trouble navigating our way around and found the location of the lodge perfect.
The grounds where the lodge is located are well maintained by Retallack Resort. During our stay, we saw grounds maintenance using weed killer, cutting the grass and tidying. The waste disposal area was also clean.
Booking did not state that the beds were zip and link! All four bedrooms had zip and link beds which was really disappointing. Either myself or my partner would end up falling into the zip in the night which made for restless nights sleep.
Annoyingly you have to dispose of your own rubbish/ recycling at the top of the site. We understand COVID-19 was the cause of this but no recycling bins are provided at the lodge so you have to take refuse and the recycling in your car!
The plinth needs addressing urgently in the kitchen. It has had water damage and every time the dishwasher door was opened it knocked the plinth off. The plinth needs cutting deeper under the dishwasher so the door misses the plinth.
There was a damaged door in the master bedroom to the first floor. Given that there is a £100 good housekeeping bond, those responsible for the damage would have been charged for this, so why has this not been replaced?
Talking of the master bedroom, the en-suite is poor compared to the en-suite in the first floor twin bedroom.
The sink in the main bathroom on the ground floor needs addressing also, it is loose.
The site is a one way system (given the arrows on the road and the words ‘No Entry’ painted on the floor) however we encountered a number of people driving at us and ignoring the road layout including their cleaners (whether they are employed by Retallack Resort or self-employed, we do not know).

Property very spacious and very well equipped
Could do with a bit of TLC but overall fantastic place for large parties in particular
Unfortunately we had a few issues the Kettle leaked over the worktop when boiled, replacement arrived then next day after reporting it by Gene the housekeeper
The sliding door downstairs needs looking at as runner is damaged and difficult to open with out the right technique
The kick board under the dishwasher comes out every-time you open it bit annoying and unresolved
The washing machine was stuck on child lock, after previous occupants didn’t report a issue with it
All sorted by Tuesday morning but still frustrating
We also had no water on Friday evening for 2+ hours mains fault onsite
Gene the housekeeper was an absolute star and always there at end of phone if needed
Like I said just needs alittle TLC and occupants to report any issues so the next family don’t have to spend there holiday sorting things out

Very spacious, comfortable furniture, lots of nice personal touches. (Welcome hamper) well equipped. Lovely resort. Not pestered by anyone.
TV and wifi reception was very poor, constantly dropped, used all 4g data!
Floor very dirty upon arrival, had to mop it, because of young babies.
