Great place to stay
Great place to stay
Everyone is so friendly, helpful and professional, especially Lorena. She is outstanding! Stayed for almost 30 days, then added 30 more. Everyone was always smiling, helpful, and answered any question we might ask. Leonardo, Harvey, Gina, and all the other associates were always working hard keeping the grounds up, the pool clean, making our stay truly enjoyable! Will definitely stay again when we go again.

We stayed January-March 2018. Our condo was as pictured, good size for two people. The place was clean and long term renters have housekeeping twice a week for linens and general cleaning. The kitchen has limited basics for dishes, utensils, pans, etc. If something was missing, we asked housekeeping and they did their best to provide it, such as extra hangers, ice cube tray and we even received a new nonstick fry pan. There were no laundry facilities for guests to use. Housekeeping would do a load of laundry for $10 US. The pool was unusable for about three weeks during our stay, end of Jan.-middle of February. When we asked about it at the condo office, they told us the pool and gym were managed by a contractor When we asked at the pool, they said they were working on it-filters weren't working, pump problems, possibly a leak, etc. When they finally did fix/clean the pool, it was clean and usable the last five weeks of our stay. The airport runway was close to the condo units, and used constantly thru out the day, 7am-7pm. At times the noise from the planes were conversation stopping, especially at the pool. The internet and TV worked good, with just a few interruptions in service. There were separate air conditioner units in the condo, so it was easy to maintain comfortable temperatures in either the living room or bedroom. The housekeeping and maintenance staff were terrific-friendly, helpful and very hard workers. FYI If planning to stay in Belize longer than 30 days, passports have to be renewed every month or 30 days, for a fee of 50 BZD, which can be done in San Pedro During the month of February and continuing thru March, Sargasso seaweed washed up on the beaches. Some resorts were constantly cleaning it up, while others didn't, which then got very smelly after 3-4 days. Walks on the beach were not so pleasant in some areas,

Love this place! Thank you
Love this place! Thank you
We stayed a month here and loved it! First off the value is incredible- The price for a month was the cost of 5 nights at a high end beach resort. The place has a great kitchen and nice living room, which made it feel really homey and spacious. The pool was huge and the property grounds were clean and well kept. The staff are friendly and ready to help- they helped with our laundry (they did a big bag for $10) and helped with our golf car rental. Golf cart is not needed if you don't mind walking. The beach is really close and the town center is within 10-15 minutes walk. I wish I didn't have to leave.

The place is lovely – just like the photos. We stayed for one month in February 2018. We had a unit with a balcony overlooking the airport runway. Although, the noise can bother some people – we were not annoyed. The planes fly from about 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. If you are out most of the time, you won’t really notice. If you plan to stay in most of the time, it may become a bother. Ask for a unit with a balcony – you will enjoy it, as there is no other way to be outside and the place is small. The pool and gym are not like the photos. The pool was dirty and we never went in it. The gym is also dirty, old and very hot (as the air conditioning does not work). There are great gyms and yoga classes within about a 10 minute walk – and those are much better options. The beach is also about a 10 minute walk away. Tips for future guests: 1. The cooking supplies are very limited. If you plan on cooking a lot, this may not be your place. We only made coffee, breakfast and a few lunches, so it was doable. 2. The place needs one good non-stick pan, one good knife (the knives were terrible + could barely cut a lime), a can opener, one good spatula, one bowl, one measuring cup, a beer bottle opener, a corkscrew, etc. Even a blender would have been nice to have. 3. The toaster did not work 4. All of the other VRBO places we have stayed have a "pay it forward" program. So all of the leftover non-perishables (water, spices, oil, vinegar, mustard, left over bits of liquor, Kleenex, paper towels, coffee, etc) are left behind by each renter. This provides everyone with a richer experience. We purchased 150 coffee filters, the minimum amount we could purchase, we used 28 + left the rest --what happens to it and everything we left? You will need to purchase everything you need, as the kitchen and pantry are completely bare. 5. You will need to buy bottled water. The unit has no water dispenser or a water pump for the large bottles, so it is a bit of a pain. 6. The on-site staff are nice, but not helpful. All that being so, we had a great stay. For the price, it is clean, modern and is close to everything you need. We never rented a golf cart and were just fine walking everywhere.

Nice Stay in Ambergris Caye, But.....
Nice Stay in Ambergris Caye, But.....
We stayed at the Grand Baymen (“GB”) February 2018. The pictures posted for GB are somewhat misleading. For instance, there is no “beautiful sandy beach two blocks away”. It is 5 to 6 blocks and is not swimmable as the statement and photo imply. There are very enjoyable bars and restaurants in the area, and there are places to sit back on the sand and enjoy a book. The tenants had to complain and form an “uprising” during our stay as the pool was disgustingly dirty and algae filled, and did not look safe to swim in. It was cleaned after many days of empty promises to get it cleaned. The pool is relatively close to the condos. Another reviewer commented that GB is like a “barracks” and I would agree with that. Although VRBO stated the unit had “dining areas” and had pictures that showed a kitchen counter with stools and a place to have a meal, the reality was that there was no table or counter to even have a meal in the place. The only option was to sit on the couch with a plate in hand, or stand at the counter. We were constantly surprised/disappointed in the lack of items to make a stay comfortable especially for a “Gorgeous, Modern Suite”. For instance, the tap water is not potable in San Pedro but there is no stand in which to place a 5-gallon water container for drinking or cooking. Among other things, there were no paper towels or holder provided, no can opener, no strainer, no sharp knife, no dish soap, very limited number of clothes hangers, very few dishes, and no safe. There is a dishwasher but there were so few dishes it was not necessary. The shower had no shelf to hold soap or shampoo, the condo walls were paper thin and every morning we heard the neighbor’s music early in the morning as if it were in our place, TV blaring in the evening. The place is right next to the island airport, so you hear take-offs and landing from 6:30 in the morning to 7:00 at night, but not really that bad sound wise unless out by the pool. Many issues encountered seem easy to fix, just not taken care of by owner/management. This is not to say that the on-site staff was not helpful, it seemed they wanted to help but were constrained by management. They were all very nice and helpful as much as they could be. On the positive side, the unit was clean, and the area was safe. We will go back to San Pedro at some point, but not likely to stay at Grand Baymen again.

The people at Grand Baymen are great very nice and friendly I give them all 10's. We had a nice time and the room was good but it wasn't at all what the pictures and description describe. There is sales office on the Ocean side about 3-4 blocks away nothing more, there is no beach anywhere. The buildings are like a brick army barracks facing the airport runway. Like 100' feet away LOL...... BUT its a quit airport. I had a different idea about the rental when I got there and said i dont think this is it. After I looked at the pictures again the room looked just like the photos, thought it was me.. The next day I was outside the office and i heard a guy say this isnt the place i booked on line.. Jaja maybe not me. Anyway its economical and better than a Motel8 and they are nice people who want to do as much as they can for you..
