About this house rental
Looking for a place to really enjoy nature, boating, fishing, swimming, family games, campfires and more? Bring your boat! Bring your whole family! Cherry Point Vacation Rental is recently under new ownership and the owners aim to make this vacation the best ever!
The picturesque 7.4 acre property can be all yours for the week and includes a deep-water slip, sandy beach (when the tides out) and a floating dock, along the 1,200 feet of waterfront. Eagle, osprey, heron, hawks and waterfowl are as common as the sunrises. The grounds at Cherry Point include an older tennis court: perfect for tennis, basketball, hockey, roller skating and more; a 32’x16’ in-ground swimming pool (surrounded by decking, tables, lounge chairs and some pool toys); and lots of open space on the property with a large field for softball, soccer, badminton, horseshoes, and more including some wooded areas and private little sandy beaches for exploring and relaxing.
Cherry Point is perfect for multi-generational family getaways or multi-family vacations. There is a large main house (the original portion of the main house dates to 1919, featuring unique wood trim, beautiful old wood floors and some unique historic features...) and a newer updated addition which was added in the 1990's. And, if you need more room, there is additional living space we refer to as the "Annex" or “cottage” space with 3 bedrooms, a full bath, and large living area on the 2nd floor of the detached garage, overlooking the pool and water views.
The main house contains 7 bedrooms, 4 1/2 baths, living room with fireplace, den with fireplace, kitchen and dining area for group dining and family CRAB FEASTS, laundry, and screened porch with outdoor furniture and an additional picnic table, overlooking the water. The large Master Suite includes a 2nd floor deck overlooking the water. The new (2020), fully equipped kitchen, includes an induction electric cooktop and range, dishwasher, microwave, 2 refrigerators, drip pot coffee maker, Keurig coffee maker, blender and tons of kitchen accessories.
The "Cottage" is above the garage, overlooking the pool and has 3 bedrooms: one with 2 bunk-beds (sleeps 4 ), one with a queen bed, and one with 2 twin beds...along with a large family room and a full bath.
All rooms at Cherry Point are air-conditioned via central air, or window units.
This destination property offers swimming, fishing, crabbing, boating, dining and relaxing all in true maritime atmosphere of the Eastern Shore of Maryland! Watch the boats go by while dining alfresco or sitting by the pool! We include the use of canoes and kayaks, as well as stand up paddle boards during your stay.
There are many shops, restaurants and boutiques in the quaint maritime town of Cambridge which is about 15 minutes away. Cambridge is filled with history and unique out-of-the way sights. Travel through the countryside which James Michener wrote about in "Chesapeake" and let it take your breath away. Also, there are many seasonal events worth checking out in the area. Several golf courses and wineries are local. The world renown Hyatt Regency waterfront golf course is nearby and is open to the public. Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historical Park and other underground railroad sites are a short drive, and the Blackwater Wildlife Refuge is our nearby neighbor and offers paths for walking, hiking, biking and more and also adds additional waterways for canoeing and kayaking.
Grocery stores in Cambridge include numerous options such as Food Lion, and Walmart and the local Simon's market. Excellent seafood everywhere you turn. The local Woolford general store is about a mile away. Slaughter Creek Marina just 10 minutes down the road. Buy fresh and mostly local produce, meats, eggs and flowers, crafts and more at the Cambridge Farmers Market every Thursday from 3-6 pm from May thru October at Long Warf in Cambridge near High and Water Streets. The Dorchester County Tourism Dept. operates out of the award winning Visitor Center at Sailwinds Park in Cambridge. There are exhibits, a playground, a beach area, a monument fountain, restrooms, a native garden, and a mile long boardwalk to stretch your legs. Check their website for local events!
During Summer Months, minimum rental periods of a full week Sunday to Sunday are preferred. This works best with trash collection in the area. Shorter stays can be requested and will be considered during off peak times. Linens and towels are provided for your convenience.

We had a group of 17 for our family vacation and we truly enjoyed every aspect of our stay! The beautiful location, the house, pool, the kayaks and canoes, yard area! It was fantastic! The house and cottage supplied ALL the space we needed for 5 family units. The only bummer was jellyfish in the bay!

Property met all of our expectations. We were a family of twenty from ages 8 to 76, three generations. Loved all the outdoor sports available really used the pool since our week was 90+ degrees everyday. Sunrise and kayaking every morning, more coordinated members paddle boarded. My grandson especially enjoyed kayaking, fishing, crabbing and exploring the property. Looking forward to next year. Only recommendation some free standing umbrellas at pool where lounge chairs are located. Shade was at a premium our week. Allen and Kathleen very conscientious hosts.

We loved having many kayaks and canoes ready to use. Wonderful swimming pool with lots of toys. So much to do inside and outside. It was great all around for all ages. Everyone felt this was a favorite place to gather.

The property was very nice and as advertised. The only negative is location. It is pretty remote and not much to do within 30 minutes driving time.

We had a fantastic week with our children and grandchildren. This property offers something for everyone, all ages. Volleyball was a nightly event and the pool was always being used in the 90 degree weather.
The property has everything you need from the kitchen to outdoor games....very highly recommended.

We had an amazing time! We wanted a home on some property with lots of activities for the whole family. This home fit the bill perfectly. The overall beauty of the place was breathtaking, and all of the activities were enjoyed by the whole family. The kids LOVED the pool! Thank you for adding the solar blanket!! We also loved the location, as we were only a little over an hour from Ocean City Beach!! The owner communicated with us very well, and was very responsive when we had questions. Thank you for giving the Milford Family a vacation to remember!

The house was wonderful for a large group. Owner was extremely good with communication and quick to respond and fix when one thing went wrong. Would absolutely rent from them again. Great setting and having the pool and pickleball / tennis court was a fantastic added feature that we used.

THIS WAS OUR SECOND TRIP TO CHERRY POINT. IT IS A BEAUTIFUL, WELL MAINTAINED PROPERTY IN A GREAT LOCATION.

We stayed here on our annual summer family get-together/getaway in August 2023. B'eH, we are now 20+ with 5 married couples including myself, my wife's sister's family and my in-laws, and married daughter.
The boys took the cottage, which was a perfect chill for them. The main house had plenty of bedrooms/bathrooms for all of us to comfortably have our own spaces.
The intention was that the property would be all-inclusive in terms of activities so that we could be together and not have to run around finding external entertainment. And it was great!
There were enough options that all ages and interests were met. The pool was perfect. there was plenty of time spent in the kayaks, fishing off the dock, basketball games, tennis, ping-pong, exploring about. We didn't even get to the volleyball.
The house is very clean and well maintained. There were clean linens and towels provided for each person. They even had pool towels located above the washer/dryer.
Most important, Allen, the owner, was extremely responsive throughout the entire process from the reservation, through our stay – and departure. (Thank you!)
This was a perfect home and location for our family vacation.

Excellent house & pool. Family had an outstanding stay. We rented a boat part of the week, tubing, fishing, and general water fun. Kitchen was well laid out, allowing us to cook and serve family of 21. Equipment included canoes, paddle boards, ping pong, horseshoes and a tennis / paddle ball court.
A first class experience.

We gathered as an extended family for a wonderful week at this beautiful property. The house is just perfect for a large group. We could all eat together and there was plenty for us to do- pool, pickle ball, tennis, paddle boards, kayaks, fishing, crabbing. One of the highlights was a double elimination cornhole tournament! Allen was very responsive and made us feel welcome. We would like to return sometime.

Communication was amazing. I got lots of questions from family members leading up to our stay. Allen always answered quickly with the info I needed. The house and property were perfect for our family reunion. We all loved the kitchen with it’s beautiful views of the water! And the pool was perfect for the kids to play and the adults to lounge & float. We found a marina close by to rent a pontoon boat & loved that we could keep it right at the dock. Our group ranged from 2 years to 70 years. Much fun was had by all!

We’ve stayed here a number of times, and it’s always been enjoyable. From taking sunrise pics to boating, crabbing, and fishing, to cannonballs in the pool, to hoops on the tennis court (and maybe a little tennis), to fun family dinners, to painting parties, there’s always something to do.
The place is neat and tidy, with lots of amenities.
The owners are super nice, informative, and very responsive.

This property offered many activities and space for our group of 23 family members! We explored the creek while canoeing, played tennis on the courts and were able to come together during meals and game nights. Everyone slept well in comfy beds and appreciated the hot showers after a long day. Central to the historical locations and an hour drive to beaches, the location works! Thanks for a great time, Allen!

I cannot say enough good things about the house, location, amenities and owner. Our entire experience was exceptional. We spent Thanksgiving week at the home with 20 adults ,19-88. Everyone had a fantastic time. Thank you, Allen.

My family and I had a BLAST at this beautiful property. We're 16 in number ranging in age from 70 down to 22 months. The house is very well maintained, and the owner responded VERY QUICKLY to questions we had. The temperature outside was in the 90s most days, so everyone took full advantage of the pool. Inside, the AC worked very well.
The kitchen was spacious and very well organized. Everything was labeled. The rooms were very comfortable and attractive. The view of the water was beautiful. A number of us went canoeing, kayaking and paddle-boarding. We also enjoyed several family games of tennis.
My family and I have rented a house for a week four of the last five years. This property was, hands down, the best.
The only downside was the fact that our grandchildren were very unhappy when we had to depart.
5.0
This is a special property, meant for large groups and families. The views of the water were just spectacular. My parents loved to sit on the screened porch and watch the grandkids play, as well as the boats passing by. We had between 13 to 15 people staying at various times and there was room to spare. Each family had its own bathroom and we didn't even use all of the 10 bedrooms. The cottage was perfect for the young adults of our family to hang out in the wee hours of the morning without disturbing my 80-year-old mother.
I do have some advice for potential visitors: Do Not over pack. This house has just about every amenity an active family could want. They have plenty of toys for the pool, tennis rackets, basketballs, cornhole, field hockey sticks, fishing poles, bikes, ping pong gear, and much much more. There are plenty of outdoor chairs and tables for everyone. The bugs are a concern, but you just need to avoid certain times of day (twilight) or wear a good bug spray. While we were there the weather was particularly hot ( in the high 90s), which unfortunately also meant warm bay water and jellyfish. We still thoroughly enjoyed the water, kayaking, canoeing, crabbing, and fishing. But swimming and paddle boarding were a little too risky.
As mentioned, it was quite hot so we did need a break from the weather. Luckily, there is plenty to do within a 45-minute drive. The town of Cambridge has a great brewery (RAR) and St Michaels had great tours, boating, and dining. Also, make a point to visit Emily's produce. It has great food and activities for all ages.
I would highly recommend this property for any large group or family, especially the active ones because there is plenty to do.

Loved it!
There's something for everyone at Cherry Point - pool, boat/fishing dock, tennis, basketball, volleyball, big lounge areas (including a screened-in porch). The house and the grounds are well kept, the kitchen is well stocked, and the owners are great at keeping in touch. This is our third time staying here, and we will be going again.

Our family once again had another amazing year at Cherry Point! That place is special- it is one of our favorite places on earth! Our group ranges in age from 4 to 70, and there is plenty to do for everyone. One thing we love about it is that we don’t have to go anywhere – it is truly a retreat to go and stay and play and enjoy the beauty and serenity of the nature surrounding us. There are plenty of activities to choose from on property- crabbing/fishing, pool, tennis court, volleyball court, basketball, ping pong, kayaking, paddle boarding, etc, not to mention just sitting on the dock and taking in the view. The house lacks nothing in space and supplies – it is very well stocked! It is clean and well cared for. We were so grateful for the chance to stay there again. All 20 of us voted it our favorite vacation ever!

Crabbing at Woolford
Overall the stay was excellent. Our multi-generational group really didnt have to leave the property to find things to do. From Bocce to horseshoes, cornhole to swimming in the pool and boating (we rented a boat from Allen's friend, Dan). The kids would go crabbing and fishing everyday. We had a great week and would definetly go back. Only small negatives were the flies (they would really be on us when we were eating crabs outside...we eventually learned to install a fan to keep them off) and that the surfbikes are no longer working. Both of those negatives were minor and while true are not enough to take down a 5 star rating. Thanks Allen!

We just loved this property and so did our 3 adult children and their children. So many activities for everyone-paddle boarding, canoeing, tennis, horseshoes, swimming, badminton or just plain watching the beautiful sunrise or sunset. The owners have supplied the home with EVERYTHING you could need while on your vacation.

This was the perfect spot for the annual gathering of the family. The cottage provided space for the next generation hang out as a group (how did they get to be 20+ years old?). The main house had enough room for the 6 siblings and their spouses. Room to all hang out in the same space, yet other rooms for smaller (6-8 people) gathering. Even though it was cloudy, chilly, with some rain, folks still kayaked, hiked, learned how to play pickle ball, and simply sit on the porch and watch all the bay had to offer.

Our extended family just returned from an outstanding visit to Cherry Point to celebrate the life of the patriarch of our clan. It so happens that our family owned this property for 25 years. The spirit of the place is still 100% intact with many improvements like updated kitchen and bathrooms, new rugs, paint, well stocked kitchen, etc. We appreciated the privacy of the many bedrooms but especially enjoyed all of the common areas for congregating as a group such as the dock, pool and front porch overlooking the water. We took full advantage of the canoes and kayaks to get out on the river plus the games in the cabinet.
Allen and Kathleen could not have been better to work with. We were in constant communication leading up to our reunion and the hosts offered help, tips and more. It was extremely sentimental for our family to say goodbye to Cherry Point again, but we are grateful that it's a VRBO property and owned and managed by such terrific people. Thank you for sharing wonderful CP.
With gratitude,
The entire Finlay family.

This property was amazing! It comfortably fit all 20 of us and had everything we could have wanted. We never left since there was more than enough to do. Canoes, kayaks, paddle boards and fishing gear kept us on the water constantly. We used the fire pit late at night to watch the moon and stars. The kitchen was extremely well equipped. Games galore. A wonderful time was had by all!

Perfect house for large family gathering
Stayed here the last week of August. House is very clean, spacious, well stocked. We are a family that loves activities, this place fit that bill perfectly. Tennis/basketball/volleyball/ping pong, boat rental at slaughter creek marine (35 min away by boat), kept the boat 3 days at the dock, used it for tubing, wake boarding. Note: there were small jellyfish all over the bay. The water was beautifully warm but you did get stung lightly (would go away in 20 min) every time you fell in during wakeboarding. We did all our swimming in the pool. I wouldn’t rent a place without a pool going forward. It was perfect for the kids. There were plenty of kitchen supplies. We only had to buy Saran Wrap/foil, dishwasher detergent, paper towels. Bathrooms have one roll of toilet paper, hand soap, one hand towel, and each bed is supplied with one bath towel (wrapped in a bag with the clean sheets you must install upon arrival). I was surprised at the small number of hand towels (1 per bathroom), wash cloths(2 per bathroom), and only 3 kitchen towels. This time of year was rough for the outdoor bugs (mosquitos, house flies, horse flies). They were incessant the entire trip. Bug spray every time you went outside. We kept plenty of sunblock spray and bug spray at every door. It was also hot, humid, and hardly any breeze the entire week, so that didn’t help the situation. The inside of the house was cool and clean and had plenty of space for kids running around. We would absolutely return here but would look for a different part of the season to avoid the bugs. The only other thing to note would be the location- its 9 min to Emily’s produce- a great farm stand that has fruits, veges, some meat and dairy, fresh baked pies, smoothies. You’ll have to drive 20 min to do a full grocery trip though. The folks in our group who love to go to restaurants/bars would have preferred a house near/in a town. The rest of us had a perfectly relaxing time here. We all brought bikes and did a family ride one evening, but the bugs ruined it. My face was like a windshield wiper splat splat went the bugs as I rode. Don’t let the bugs deter you from this house though. I’m searching and I can’t find a house with better amenities than this. One of the more humid days we took the kids to an indoor playground called cabin fever in Cambridge- loved it. Overall awesome experience.

BEST VACAY EVER!!!!!
Our family has been renting summer houses for many years and we all agree this property is the best we’ve ever stayed !! It has everything !! We held our own Olympics complete with rowing , basketball, tennis, Cornhole and swimming events !! So much fun especially for a competitive family. I can’t remember a time when the TV was hardly turned on. The accommodations were also perfect ! Enough beds for everyone . The owners were also very quick to reply to any all questions before and during our stay. We will definitely be back again !!!

We had a wonderful time meeting up with our family from Maryland, Delaware, Colorado and Florida. It was a bit hot, but thank God for the pool and AC! Everyone had fun kayaking, catching crabs, fishing, playing in the pool, playing games and just catching up with each other. We all agreed it was a great place to just hang out.
