Imagine having your own beautiful weekender, just 90 minutes from Sydney, with absolute water frontage, and a private jetty! Sunshine Cottage offers spectacular 180 degree lake views, a fully equiped kitchen and bathroom, 3 comfortable bedrooms, laundry and a large veranda on which to relax and enjoy alfresco dining or an afternoon nap.

Sunshine at Lake Macquarie will give you the weekender life style you've been looking for. With Australia's largest coastal saltwater lake as your backyard, you will have ample opportunity to enjoy boating, fishing, swimming, sail boarding, and water-skiing.
There is an excellent boat ramp just 300m down the end of the street. Most guests then keep their boat tied up off the jetty for the duration of their stay. There is a huge front yard with plenty of space to keep the trailer.

Just 45 minutes from the renowned Hunter Valley Wine District, and a short drive to the beautiful bush walking trails of the Watagan Mountains, Sunshine at Lake Macquarie is the ideal place to de-stress and live like the locals.

Wake to the sound of lapping water, spectacular sunrises and superb views of Pulbah Island, and Pt. Wolstonecraft. Whether you enjoy boating, painting or photography, the gentle ambience of Sunshine at Lake Macquarie will let you enjoy a pleasant sea change.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

NO linen or towels are provided. Blankets, pillows, and donnas are supplied, however guests must bring their own linen, towels, tea towels, etc.
There are 2 queen size beds, and 3 single beds.

There is NO air-conditioning in the property, however there are fans in each bedroom and also in the lounge room. Large fan heaters will keep the cottage nice and warm during the cooler months!

There is NO Wifi at the property. Please use your phones mobile data to hotspot to the smart TV if you want to avail yourself of those features.

NO pets allowed.

The cottage can accommodate up to a maximum of five adults and seven guests in total. Under no circumstances can this number be exceeded.

The house is located in a quiet residential area and as such is NOT suitable for parties and loud noise. All noise must be kept to a minimum after 9pm

There are two bedrooms with a queen size bed in each, which open straight onto the veranda, with stunning views! The third bedroom has a single bed, and two bunk beds (with full size mattresses). This is a smaller room more suitable for children, and as such we limit the total number of adults to five.
The cottage has a quality bathroom, with a full size bath and separate shower, and an internal laundry, with a second toilet.

Check-in time is 2pm, and check-out is by 10am. Late checkout may be available subject to other bookings.

Location

Sunshine Cottage is located on the Morisset peninsular,on the western side of Lake Macquarie, just 90 minutes drive from Sydney.
It enjoys a perfect North Easterly aspect, capturing Winter sunshine all day long, and in the Summer time, the covered veranda provides the perfect haven to enjoy the lake!

Peaceful, serene location, surrounded by native bushland and with absolute waterfront views and private access to the lake and jetty. Charming lakeside cottage, with plenty of room for entertaining on the back deck, and a BBQ. We stayed for 2 nights and there were 3 adults and 2 children in our group. The front yard has plenty of room for car and boat parking, and a beautiful mango tree in the top corner, which was loaded with fruit (sadly, not quite ripe during our stay), and a nice, grassy shaded patch underneath, perfect for a picnic! The cottage is not air conditioned, but has fans and good air flow with the doors and windows open, but was very hot and humid on our arrival day - we were lucky to have a cool change which made our stay quite comfortable. I probably wouldn't stay again during mid-Winter or mid-Summer unless there was air conditioning added. A highlight of our stay was taking the kids fishing off the private jetty, and seeing them catch their very first fish ever! It was also very relaxing to sit on the deck and enjoy the waterfront view. The cottage furnishings are basic but cosy and welcoming. The shower is quite small and I have suggested that the shower curtain be replaced with a screen, but it is functional. The front door could also do with a screen door to allow for air flow whilst maintaining security and discouraging critters from visiting! A very relaxing and enjoyable stay overall. The host was very accommodating and easy to deal with.

Such a beautiful location. The view from the back deck is sensational and the easy access to the water was perfect for launching our kayaks. The house is unostentatious but well equipped with everything you need to cook, relax and enjoy the serenity.

Absolutely loved this spot. Was just what the soul needed to unwind and watch the boats float around with everything you need at your finger tips. When we couldn't find something the host was contactable and more than happy to answer our queries. Could not recommend this place more! Thanks so much Hugh the weekend was an absolute ripper. Was a great experience. Jetty was perfect to moor a small bowrider. House was good and had everything we needed for the 4 of us, beds were comfortable although the shower was on the smaller side. Don't forget to bring towels, face washers & bathroom mat !! Would definitely book again.

The house is just on the water in Sunshine - very quiet and beautiful outlook. Well appointed. While the VRBO on-line description does not explicitly state that there is no wi-fi or an air conditioning system - it would have been useful to know. During our stay the weather was very mild so the an air conditioning system wasn't needed - but the situation would definitely be different in the heat of a full summer.

Lovely spot, very close to neighbouring properties, some friendly. We arrived & had to empty items (still dirty) from dishwasher which takes a long time to pass through cycle. Wiped over placements, table..then Counter top still sticky. The complimentary coffee & sugar had dribble marks inside & outside the airlock container & bin lid was grubby. I felt like I'd gone in to clean it not have a relaxing holiday. The dust was abundant under most furniture & TV table.. the curtains in my room were quite grubby & my son (adult male) his mattress was quite lumpy..well & truly passed its use by date. There is a clearing fee applied in the rental, I just wonder if any one actually C L E A N S it. Borderline acceptable, sorry. Oh, we have photos, if you think I'm just winging.

We had a great stay at Sunshine Cottage. We basically lived on the verandah overlooking the lake and my husband spent a lot of time fishing off the private jetty. The location was quiet but interesting with lorikeets & kookaburras visiting us on the deck, yachts and boats on the water. The house appliances were all in great working order and the kitchen was well-equipped. The use of the high chair was much appreciated for our little one.

Very quiet location right on the lake. Easy access for the boat and car. Local shops not far away. Only 2 things let it down-the overwhelming smell of some cleaning/deodorising product that caused a reaction in my wife and the washing machine didn’t spin and had to hang it out dripping wet and ended up having to take all our dirty washing home-could have been an issue if we had a longer stay or someone who took a few kids. But in all a very lovely stay

Top location right on the lake with a jetty and wonderful views of Pulbah Island and Gwandalan. Quiet both day and night. The house is a typical older style comfortable holiday cottage that is very appealing with a good big verandah. Our stay was extremely enjoyable.

Myself and a good friend love nature. We also aren’t big into crowds. This quiet town is gorgeous. Neighbourhood smiley and warm that’s if you see anyone. The local pub and shopping centre has all you need and a 30 min drive gets you to Swansea’s and other adventure more on the beaten track. Back to Sunshine this village has the most gorgeous walking tracks and plenty of fishing spots. The house was just unbelievable So we’ll set up for two friends or a family We took this opportunity ti essentially stay there the entire time with one trip to the shops and about 16 hours staring at water from jetty or deck . The rooms open up to the balcony. Everything you need to connect with nature with creature comferts
