The staff were so kind and helpful and willing to philosophize when asked, which I appreciate. They had the best recommendations, don’t let the street helpers get you off track. Those who offer help getting around get a commission when they detour you to the merchant shops.
Great rooftop kitchen and breakfast! View of the sea, castle, fort and surroundings. Rooms have air conditioning—essential in summer. Although one day I turned it off and left my windows open and it was cool inside—surprisingly.

We enjoyed the terrace on the top.The worker, Jamal was great. We talked a bit of French, and he talked a bit of English but we had many laughs
Nothing that we didn,t like

Jamal was really friendly and helpful. Gave us good restaurant recommendations and made us feel at home.
The downside was the internet that was not working on the first day. The chemicals they put on the toilet had a really strong smell.

The location was central to the old medina and souk area, with lovely views of the sea, harbour and mountains from the terrace. The beds were very comfortable with high quality linnen. Our two hosts, Mohammed and Jamal were very sweet and made us feel very welcome.
We maybe had just bad luck with the specific room we were in, but the bathroom smelled really bad. Little tip: use SatNav to get there as it is not easy to find and rather have breakfast in nearby restaurants.

Dar El Hayet is a charming and small guesthouse in Tangier, Morocco that offers a cozy and welcoming experience for travelers. The staff at the guesthouse are incredibly friendly and offer excellent suggestions for arranging ferry rides from Tangier to Tarifa. Although the guesthouse may be a bit difficult to reach from the driver's drop-off point, the staff goes the extra mile to go above and beyond for their guests. We were delighted to see the staff wave at us through the rooftops as we navigated our way to the Dar.
After the staff finished their Ramadan prayers at 4 am, they waited for us until 5 am and showed us the way to the ferry port. We were grateful for their hospitality and willingness to accommodate our travel plans.
To further add to our experience, we were welcomed with traditional Moroccan peppermint tea. It was a delightful start to our stay and a wonderful way to experience Moroccan hospitality. In all, we recommend Dar El Hayet to anyone looking for a cozy and authentic Moroccan experience. The staff's friendly nature, willingness to help and their lovely gesture of peppermint tea make the stay even more captivating. It is a perfect choice for travelers who want to explore the city's historic offerings, memories of which are bound to last a lifetime.

Location in the Medina/kasbah is perfect to walk around easily. The "maison" is nicely decorated and the rooftop terrace is definitely worth a stay, enjoying your breakfast and evening mint tea. The room with bathroom was tiny and comfortable. The staff is extremely nice and helpful.
The mattress has seen better times. Also the room next to reception can get a bit noisy as it is not sound proof and you can hear all the guests coming or leaving, as well as anybody just chatting in the hall - better to have good earplugs.

I booked a double room. I got a very, very small room and a bed against the wall with two mattresses: one "and a half" (a normal single mattress and a very small one), very uncomfortable and definitely not a double bed. No TV, just some wires in the wall, no air-conditioning, no breakfast. The room was close (less than 5 meters) to the reception desk, like most of the rooms, and you can hear everything outside, there is no privacy. Find another place, this does not worth it

Location was at the top of the medina, near the Bab Al Bar viewpoint, Bab Kasbah, Contemporary art museum etc. Property had great panoramic views from the rooftop balcony out over the city and the sea front.
An up to date decor in the traditional Moroccan style, with excellent finishings in the bedroom and bathroom alike, spotless and way better than we anticipated! Best of all was the staff, Mohammed and Jamal especially were both so welcoming and genuine and great to chat to! They helped us think through our last minute options for car rentals, travel to other towns and arrange local tours with their trusted taxis and guides but also recommended the best place to have fish at the local fish market on the beachfront. Our taxi driver Dris gave us the most amazing local experience and we will never forget him, he will forever be in our hearts.
We will definitely return to this place when in Tangier, highly recommended!
Nothing!

The people working there are great. The location by the kasbah is quiet and the rooftop has a great view of the medina and the strait of Gibraltar. A beautiful place to stay in.
Very hard mattresses, which was fixed with extra duvets to lay on.
Bed sheets and pillows smelling of softeners.

The hosts were incredibly welcoming and helpful - they provided breakfast last minute when we had not requested it in advance, and organised a taxi to take us to the border with Ceuta.
The guesthouse is in a good location in the Medina, near restaurants and attractions but on a side street so it's quiet. The roof terrace has a spectacular view of the Medina and the Mediterranean!
Beds were comfy and the bathroom was clean with good hot water & shower pressure. We would not hesitate to stay here again.
The room was a bit noisy - it opened directly onto the tiled entry and any talking in the reception area was quite echoey. A few more carpets or soft furnishings might help. That said, it was quiet overnight so this was not disruptive.

The staff were lovely! The location was good.
The shower didn't drain quickly and there was a squeegee to wipe the water from the bathroom door back to the shower when you were done.

Location was great and excellent value for money. The staff were wonderful. The room was perfect size.

This hotel is super well located. Among all the Riads (actual Riads in medinas, not condos in modern parts), we tried in Morocco, this one is located closest to parking space (like, less than 100 meters away), and the Kasbah attractions are all close by. The room itself is spacey and comfortable, and the rooftop offers great views.

very clean and beautiful accommodation. the host is very helpful, friendly and kind. the location is also perfect right in the center

Fabulous hospitality, very nice rooms, and a beautiful view from the terrace.

The place is very nice with a great rooftop looking over the city. Jamal was a amazing host, very helpful and welcoming

Nice guy at the reception. Restaurant/breakfast at the terrace.
It´s not easy to find a hotel. I am aware is in the old town full of tiny streets. Breakfast is only for 4 euros per person. Wasn´t that reach.

The staff we nice and welcoming
The bed was uncomfortable, the walls are thin and therefore you can hear the noise coming from the other rooms, there was a dog in the house nextdoor that barked most of the night, someone in the bar closed by started playing music at 2 AM, the ventilation inside the room is terrible and you had to compromise by either being in a hot room with no fresh air or opening the window and hearing all the street noise even louder, the toilet is literally in the shower, the reception was nextdoor our room so it is impossible to even try sleeping before midnight since new people are admitted until then.
Conclusion: this place looks too good to be true. If you just want to have a nice sleep you won't get that here. It is also overpriced.

the staff is very friendly and helpful. the location is beautiful and the view of their roof terrace is amazing. The room was a bit damp and smelled a. it funny but that comes along with a hotel in the Medina.
the hotel is quite difficult to find, and although the location and view are amazing: the hike up to the medina is something one has to consider before booking. it’s quite a walk from the bottom of the medina to the hotel, late evening also not the most pleasant walk either.

The view from the terrace was beautiful, each room had a theme which was nice. It's close to the parking space.Mina was very nice and really tried her best to assist us.
The housekeeping girl was also nice and did try her best fo wash my whites with the colour and then made it pink 🤣🤣🤣
There was an issue with the air-conditioning and Mina changed our room after we informed her of the issue. But there was another boy there for the night who was disrespectful and to be honest didn't Care about his job or the guests.

First off, I would like to address some of the comments made previously on this place. I apologize, I was part of the group of friends that made some noise. We arrived very late, after a long journey, and I one of us didn’t regard other possible tenants when we arrived. Jamal soon after reminded us that respect for riad comes first.
After this prologue, and having said that, it’s important to remember that this place is not a 5 star hotel, and is more like a hostel in its vibe. It’s a 10/10 value for money, and the staff (especially Jamal who made us coffee early in the morning and organized a cab for us) is AMAZING. The place also has a beautiful patio, and is in a beautiful location. This place is amazing if you want to experience the real old Medina, with all its mess, noise etc., but if your searching for the “spa and relaxation” type trip it might not be the place for you.

A very clean a cozy accommodation, very good breakfast (worth to pay extra!)
The host is a lovely person. One of our group gets sick during the stay and he helped us a lot to organise.
I would recommend this accomodation

breakfast was wonderful-boiled eggs, breads, coffee, juice, different spreads for breads, pastries
unfortunately my room was next to reception and I heard early guests arguing with reception
not being next to reception- otherwise room was spacious, clean, had open shelving and a nice bathroom

We went there for a weekend and we really liked it specially the attention the young guy gave us and Amina. We will come.back!!! Lots of love Candela and Manu

Perfect location, very friendly staff. They coordinated and paid for my taxi from the airport, which was a massive help.

The property was clean and tye location was brilliant, right in the old Medina, within a couple minutes' walk to a lot of restaurants and the City Tour Bus station. Staff was very welcoming and friendly, served us with traditional Moroccan tea on arrival which turned out to be one of our favourite! Jamal was especially attentive and even though we were struggling with our French we still managed to communicate well and exchange language tips! He's been a great help and made our experience very good!
The property is a little bit hard to find, since the Medina is a proper maze. But once you find it, you'll know the way next time. The room was very clean, however our bed was a bit too hard for our liking and it can get a bit noisy, especially during the 5AM call to prayer. I'm a light sleeper but managed to get by with a pair of good earplugs :)
