I am absolutely in love with this house! The owners were great and easy to work with. The house is a treasure! It’s really big, but it feels so cozy. I would recommend this property to anyone and I hope that someday I can stay there again.

the house is bigger than the pictures portray. We had 14 people and the house was plenty big enough and had numerous bedrooms and bathrooms. It was perfect for the group of us.

My family and I (12 in total) rented the mansion to celebrate two milestone birthdays. The size of the property was perfect! There was plenty of room to accommodate everyone. Initially, we thought, given the age of the home, it may be drafty, but that was not the case at all. We were all very comfortable. The hot tub was also a great feature. The location of the property is approximately 10 mins from the house, which was perfect. Ubers were very easy to get. Stan was an excellent host. Very accommodating. We had one issue come up with one of the bathrooms. Stan had it addressed quickly, which we all appreciated. We all had a great time. We would definitely stay again if we're in the area.

Let me start off by saying this house is huge and has so much charm and character. My kids and I had a great mini vacation here the kids had so much fun running thru the halls this house is pretty much a maze, they played piano every morning Thank good no one else was there to hear it! The back yard and pool area was beautiful the pool was very clean and lots of fun for the kids. Everything was perfect but I had to take a star off for a few things

We rented this home for a week with family from across the country. We had an excellent time and spent a lot of time in pool, which was perfect for little kids. Plenty of space for celebrating together. Norwich had some great places to walk and is a great location for day trips. Anna was excellent and easy to communicate with.

Very large house with many bedrooms and bathrooms. Great for larger group and we enjoyed the pool table and large dining room table. Communication with the owner was excellent!

Awesome Place!
My friends and I (group of guys) stayed here for a weekend and it was the perfect spot for us. Very spacious and accommodating. The house has a ton of character. You could easily hang out there for an entire weekend but there is plenty to do nearby. Property manager was informative and responsive. I highly recommend!

Amazing Stay in a Great Area
Having a reunion with friends always needs a great setting to have an amazing trip and I can confidently say this place was perfect. The rooms each have character in them that is unique and interesting in a way that makes you want to spend some time in each of them just to take it in. The area is full of things to do which made every second full of potential. The kitchen was probably our favorite spot because it is perfect for large groups to make almost anything with the equipment that it has. The hot tub was incredible and being indoors really added a perfect place to relax especially because it was a rainy weekend. I can’t thank Stan enough for showing me around himself and really providing a great foundation that started the trip. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone I know.

Nice place to stay.
Big home great for 10+ people. Nice hot tub but some beds were less comfortable but that varies person to person. Overall I’d stay here again.

Best kept SECRET!
Let me first say, Shana, the property manager was awesome. As for the listing, it was spot on. There were ten of us ladies ages 30+ there for a girls weekend getaway, and a surprise bachlorette party for my daughter. Let me say from ALL aspects there was not one of us that had anything negative to say about our stay. Stan, the owner even accommodated us by keeping the pool open for our stay! The home is bueatiful, if like us, you love homes with large rooms, all the character of an older home, you'll love this place. We even amused ourselves upon arrival playing Marco Polo whilst finding our bearings in this large wonderful property. From the first communication with the property manager, to the last :( the host was OUTSTANDING! Thank you again Shana!!! Denise Clark

Amazing place
Stan's house is great. We stayed 4 nights around our daughter's wedding with a full house. The place is roomy and comfortable with an old world charm. We had both warm (75) and cold (45) degree weather and everything was fine. There are PLENTY of large fans, and heat was very adequate (does take a few minutes to warm up). There were an abundance of blankets and towels, and it was very clean. Hot tub and pool were also very clean. It was too rainy and cool to use the covered porch, but it would have been awesome had the weather been better. The only suggestion would be to provide more silverware ( we had brought plasticware just in case), and we never found a wine opener (could have been our oversight). Would definitely recommend!!

Great place to spend a weekend!
This house is huge! Came up to do some gambling and golfing with some friends over the weekend and this home did not disappoint. The owner and property manager communicated very well and although the home was not the most updated which you should be able to tell from the pictures, it had an old charm to it and was able to sleep everyone comfortably. Unbelievable bang for your buck. The hot tub was absolutely awesome and kitchen was huge and perfect for making breakfast- highly recommend!

Deceiving, uncleanly, and unprofessional
A few friends and I, after being in quarantine for so long, decided to grab a house upstate for the weekend. Not picky at all, (which how can one be picky based on the photos uploaded to this house in 2013), we knew what we were getting ourselves into. All that mattered to us though was a pool, somewhere to sleep, and a chance to get away from NYC easily. Let me first start by saying, Shana and Stan were very responsive and helpful, however are quite delusional in thinking that anyone could stay in this house safely during a pandemic, despite the communication assuring the house would be cleanly and ready to go. Upon arrival, we walked into a trash of an experience. Firstly, nobody was there to check us in except the cleaning lady (whom unfortunately was a fill in and had no idea how to show us around the house, where keys were, etc.) The outside of the house hasn't been taken care of in years. Trash hidden under the front porch led to hungry animals at night, the long grass and humidity created a mosquito haven, the deck that hasn't been power washed in years led to disgusting black feet all day, and the sliding doors that led into the house simply trailed in ants. Not to mention, the furniture was all broken complete with missing chairs and tables slaughtered in sticky filth that again, led to bugs galore.
Trying to keep our attitudes high, we luckily brought our own furniture, tents, and umbrellas (though one shouldn't have to do this, I'd highly recommend to keep you the least bit comfortable). With a bit of rearranging, my group of friends was able to make the porch area semi-livable for the weekend we were about to embark on. I should also mention we brought our own cleaning supplies and had to literally scrub the deck furniture, the grill (which was pure filth), and so forth. After about 2 hours of cleaning only the outside by my friends, we finally felt comfortable outside. It's absolutely pathetic we had to do this on a rental property but safety first.
Also, the pool hadn't been cleaned. We found test strips and tested the water after being told it had been cleaned and the chlorine levels were under swimmable - if you rent this property, please be aware of this. Dirty pool water is no good for anyone. The hot tub was in utter disgust, and the inside of the house was cleaned using no COVID safe materials.
I wouldn't recommend this property to anyone until it gets a cleaning and new management. (message me for photo evidence).

Good for a group of people, but old and drafty
This house worked well for my large extended family to stay in for the weekend. There were multiple rooms, so everyone had their own space. The check in process was Stan was easy. We called a half hour before we got there and he came to give us the keys and show us around. The driveway had plenty of parking spaces, which was good for a group of people.
The house itself was very old and drafty. The beds were quite uncomfortable. There were curtains, but not shades in the bedrooms (at least some of them), which meant that the room was bright and shinny early in the morning. The showers had hanging curtains around them, but some did not go all the way around or give you much room in the shower. The kitchen had a very cool stove with a griddle that was fun to cook on. Overall, the house didn't look as nice as it was presented in the photos.

Golf girls getaway
Perfect size house for a large group. We were a group of 10 ladies. Although we didn’t spend a lot of time at the house as we were golfing it met our needs. Enough parking for multiple cars vPlenty of beds and bathrooms. Lots of hot water for all our showers. As it was cool we used the heat which work perfectly. Shana met us at check in. It was a nice touch to have the tour and some background history. A very unique and interesting large home. I would recommend it to large groups or families.

This was a perfect getaway for our British family. The house is gorgeous (current photos don’t do it justice!), and we had a wonderful time. Everyone was so kind and we loved every minute!

Perfect House to Host for a Winery Weekend
I rented this property for a Winery tour and this house was perfect. We arrived to set up and met Wendy the caretaker of the house. She was great and it was nice to have her on the property just in case we needed anything. The house is absolutely stunning; beautifully restored Victorian home but also updated. We used the kitchen a lot. The pool and hot tub were well up kept up and definitely got some use from us. We were close to the casino and the wineries. We rented a limo for the day and went to 3 wineries in a 5 hr time period and made it back in perfect timing. I would definitely rent this house again.

Great Place for a lot of people
We stayed here for a weekend with my family and friends. The house is awesome. It has a lot of cool antique pieces and just the history was so cool. It has an awesome hot tub which we totally enjoyed and we went in the pool also but it was a little cold for the beginning of June but it has a really nice pool. We had 13 people staying here and it was super spacious nobody was on top of any one. We used the bbq and the outside wrap around porch was so cool just to lounge around. The owner Stan was awesome as soon as you text he is right on top of everything and was just a text away if we needed him. We wished we had more time to spend in the house. We spent to much time in the casinos which was really close by. We would so recommend saying here if you have a large group and want to stay in a cool home. There were plenty of towels hot water for everyone water pressure was great. It was a little warm on the third floor but fans were in every room and did the trick. There is even a cool pool table on the third floor. We will definitely be staying again. Thanks Stan

Perfect Property for a Large Group!
Stan's house was a perfect location to have a large group stay. Fourteen friends from all areas met up to celebrate a few birthday's. We arrived early and Stan along with the housekeeper Wendy were very accommodating in allowing us to put away our belongings. The house does look like it has a lot of history which adds to the charm! Plenty of rooms and bathrooms.
We cooked dinner, played games, had a birthday party, and even watched TV. It is very close to the casino a quick uber or taxi ride if needed.
We will definitely be returning if visiting the Connecticut area again especially any of the casinos!
Thank you

House is old and not clean. Smell like old house. Need lots work. Old style bathroom I have’t ever s
The first day we arrived, 1 bathroom and dinning room light doesn’t work, I have to call Wendy to come to check the light. She is afraid to go to the basement by herself, so I Go with her to check out the power panel. We couldn’t find out why some of light doesn’t work, TV, internet doesn’t work. We never lock the door because obviously front door cannot be lock. We called it ghost home during our stay. It is really old, they need to do some update before it suitable to rent to anyone. I am paying $600.00 with old smell house. Some of stuff is not working. You are afraid to touch some of light because it might fell off or broken. None of bathroom can be lock make lady uncomfortable to use bathroom. Outside yard is not maintain. This is worst experience that I ever had to stay at homeaway.

historic lodging
If you are looking to enjoy an Historic lodging experience this home would be a great choice. Large porches and deck make outside dining easy for a large group . Plenty of large trees provide comfortable shade . The water pressure for bathing was nice and strong , and had no problem with shortage of hot water. Plenty of bathrooms made it very convenient . 20 minutes away from the ferry docks to Long Island , Block Island , Light House Cruise etc . Outdoor pool provided relaxing moments .

Stan has a HUGE beautiful old Victorian home
Stan has a HUGE beautiful old Victorian home that easily accommodated our summer family gathering of 14. Stan made sure the pool was in top shape everyday of our stay and on the first morning he provided homemade bread. There was an eclectic collection of dishes, serving plates and bowls and every kind of glassware one could imagine. We used the outdoor grill a number of times and grill tools were provided. With four full bathrooms and a half bath on the first floor, none of us ever had to 'wait' and amazingly there was always plenty of hot water even with more than one shower going at a time. The only reason we can't give it a 5 star rating is because it was HOT during our stay (not Stan's fault) and a house this old does not have central air, nor did it have any window units so there was no respite from the heat even over night. And though the house was clean enough and the sheets, towels bathrooms and bedrooms were comfortably clean, the kitchen and the grill could use a good deep professional cleaning. All in all though, a delightful place to stay especially if old Victorian house in New England is your destiny. I would definitely stay again in the cooler fall months.
