Interessanter Aufenthalt

Die Lage war sehr gut. Die Pancakes und Smoothies waren sehr lecker. Es gab kostenlose Fahrräder und eine unkomplizierte schnelle Rollervermietung.

Als wir ankamen haben wir kleine Tierchen in unserem Bett gefunden. Von Raupen bis zu kleinen fast unsichtbaren Krabeltieren. Auf Nachfrage wurde das Bett sofort neu bezogen, der Gedanke, dass doch irgendwo ein Tier ist blieb aber während des gesamten Aufenthaltes. Besonders da immer neue Raupen oder Kleintiere auf dem Boden zu finden waren. Zusätzlich haben wir von der vorab gelesen "herzlichkeit" der Vermieter nicht viel spüren können. Im Fokus der Vermieter steht der Kommerz. Touren vor Ort bei denen diese keinen Gewinn machen konnten, wurden uns absichtlich verschwiegen bzw gesagt es gäbe keine Anderen als die, die von ihnen für sehr teures Geld angeboten werden. Wir raten von den angebotenen Touren ab. Auf eigene Faust (mit Roller) ist alles möglich und viel schöner und natürlicher!!

When we arrived, we had to look around to find someone to check us in, then a woman appeared and abruptly asked our name, then gave us a dirty cup half-filled with lukewarm water as a "welcome drink"! Then she threw some brochures on the table and asked us which tour we wanted to book... when we said we needed to rest first and see our room, she gave us a key, with no other word. The sheet on the bed looked like some fabrics sewn together, the bat mat in the bathroom is actually an dirty rubber carpet. The chairs on the balcony are very hard and extremely rusty. The coffee included in the breakfast is instant coffee, otherwise there is an extra charge. We stayed there only because it was already paid for, and we never saw a smile from any of the staff. There are plenty of better options around (at a lesser price!) and we certainly don't recommend this one.

Tolle Unterkunft

Die Gastgeber sind unglaublich freundlich und hilfsbereit. Der Pool ist sehr gross und sieht sehr einladend aus. Die Speisen sind sehr lecker und auch die Getränke haben ein sehr faires Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Fahrräder können kostenfrei geliehen werden, so können auch andere Restaurants auf der Strasse problemlos getestet werden. Die Unterkunft war sehr sauber und genau wie auf den Bilder aufgezeigt.

Leider wurden wir in beiden Nächten mitten in der Nacht von lauter Bassmusik geweckt, die von der anderen Flussseite kam.

Great views, great service, great price!

Big spacious room overlooking the river. Great views! Very good service, they picked me up in Dong Hoi and dropped me back off and they arranged a good motorbike for me. Friendly all over!

Perfect Homestay/Hotel by the River, Beautiful Location, Wonderful Hosts

We absolutely loved our time here, it was the perfect location for us and the hosts were brilliant from start to finish. As such I'll put up a video on our YT channel 66tripsleft within the next month, this will have lots of footage. I was a little concerned about the location being a bit too far out from the town but it was fine, with a few little stores and restaurants within walking distance, although we liked eating at the hotel, by the pool, with a view of the river. This felt like a real homestay, it's run by a family who are always available and it's got such a lovely vibe because of this, with enquiries/drinks dealt with by Hung, meals cooked by his wife, reasonable rates for everything (food, drink, laundry). There's a couple of cycles you can borrow for free. Hung organised a scooter for us for which we paid him (150k dong/day), it was delivered to us and picked up after we left, all perfect. This enabled us to visit Paradise Cave and Dark Cave for a total 1.4million dong (£46), whereas with a tour you will be paying over 1.2 million for each person, per trip, plus having to do it all at the same time as every over tour. It meant we could arrive at Paradise Cave at 11:30 just as every coach was leaving, we had the place almost to ourselves. I've already suggested Phong Nha to a view people and I've recommend the Restful River too, for a brilliant trip.

I don't really have anything negative but as others had said the only issue was the combination of westerner used to soft beds and standard firm Vietnamese (SE Asian) mattresses. If you're coming to Vietnam and spending this sort of money on a hotel then that's what you're going to get everywhere, so come prepared like we did and bring a hiker's small self-inflating airbed, works a treat!

Very good

Lovely location on the riverside. Great size and clean swimming pool. You can swim in river or use kayaks (after 5pm when there are less boats). Quickly organized free bikes and also good quality scooters for good price. 10 minutes on bike to the main street.

Beds were very hard, we have had much better beds in other vietnamese places. Also the bedlinnen could have been cleaner. The family is helpful but not as welcoming as we experienced in other places. Als food options very limited.

Great hotel in beautiful location.

I have visited Phong Nha many times previously and usually stay closer to the town centre. I was travelling with some friends and decided to try this hotel. What a great place, beautiful big çlean rooms, lovely pool by the river and the food was excellent. The owner drove us into town for dinner and picked us up after we had too many beers late at night. Overall the 2 nights here were fantastic and would definitely recommend.

A little noisy not from the peaceful surroundings, but from other guests. That's the only negative.

Exceptional

Hung and his wife were very nice and kind. we arrived at 3am and he came to collect us off the bus and allowed us to check in early so we could get some sleep. the rooms and bathroom are massive and really nice and clean. the hotel is right on the river so was beautiful. it’s about a 30 min walk into the main town but along the way there are little shops and places to eat. he provides free bicycles which we used. I’d stay here again

Awesome property right on the river and also has a pool. The owners were very helpful and friendly.

It’s a little further towards the end of town, is really the only downside. This a littler longer walk to some restaurants. They do have food at the property.

Beautiful, peaceful, friendly

Beautiful location and very cute atmosphere right on the river! The staff was very friendly and helpful!

I expected this to be more in the middle of nowhere based on pictures, but it’s still in a the middle of a small town. Bur once you’re at the bungalow it still feels like you’re escaping to somewhere more excluded!

Friendly stay overlooking the beautiful river

Our room was large and nicely appointed, very clean. The bathroom is semi outdoor. The bathroom has a roof but there is an enclosed garden attached. Ordinarily this would have been great, but it was unseasonably cold when we were there. Also we were in the bungalow room. So not all rooms would have that. The aspect of being right on the river is wonderful. So pretty. Breakfast was good. Host was really helpful, he arranged transfer to Hue. Really enjoyed our stay in Phong nha.

Comfortable, easy, great staff

Good breakfast, very helpful staff. The rooms were clean and large with a great view. They accepted card or cash.nice facilities. Shops nearby. Staff organised tours for us and even organised transport as we requested. Thank you!

A little noisey. A rooster crowing 🐓 in the night. To be expected though, that seems to be everywhere in Vietnam! Bring a set of earplugs.

Great stay on the river.

Large, spacious, clean rooms. Friendly staff who were always willing to help arrange anything you need at any time of the day. Breakfast was good. Location was great, a little out of the main town (about 20min walk but bikes are provided and there are local amenities around) but the location on the river was lovely.

The rooms can be a little noisy at times throughout the day and night. Outdoor bathroom can be a little off putting in certain weather

Lovely rooms - but service was appalling

The restaurant/bar was non-existent. Breakfast was included, but tea, coffee, water etc with breakfast was not - and drinks cost as much as breakfast! The bar didn’t have any beer - only drink on offer was vodka and coke. Take it or leave it. The only evening we ate here we ordered Jerk steak with chips and salad from the menu. however we were served stir fried beef with pineapple and rice. when we pointed out that we hadn’t ordered this we were told that the chef made a mistake but wouldn’t cook anything else - we were still charged full price!!

very clean and comfortable room looking over the river. very large room and bed. good location just off Main Street but away from the busier end of the road. free bike rental so you could cycle to Phong Nha cave and botanical garden. booking.com said breakfast was included but it was not. very friendly and helpful staff.

Restful River Bungalow

Restful River bungalow offers really spacious clean rooms. It is situated in a village and overlooks the Son river. We were picked up and dropped off at the Dong Hoi station for a reasonsble rate.. They offered very reasonably priced meals and drinks. We were hoping to see caves but due to heavy rain they were closed. The driver took us to the Botanic Gardens which are dightful, and then drove us through the Phong Nha National Park. There is a swimming pool as well. I think this is very good value accommodation. Our hosts did everything they could to make up feel welcome, including early check in.
