I liked the quiet
Promised breakfast at 8 each morning and I had to call them the first day and no breakfast the following 2 days....they ignored me

Schneller check in.
Dusche verbrennt einen fast weil es enorme Schwankungen gibt. Nachts sehr kalt, jedoch bekommt man viele Decken . Frühstück zwar selbst gemacht aber sehr wenig- Saft, 1 Weckerl, ganz wenig Eierspeise.

The hostal was located above the main town, around a ten-minute uphill walk. There are a few restaurants to eat dinner in the center of Zumbahua. I stayed alone in a spacious room with several beds. The bathroom was adequate. The price was quite cheap. The manager, Fabiola, was friendly and helpful. The place was quiet at night. Since I was going to the early market, I was told that I could eat the included breakfast when I came back. Continuing on to Quilotoa Lake, the bus stopped right in front of the hostal. All in all, I was very satisfied with this choice.
I didn’t have any negative reactions to this hostal.

It’s a small walk away from the loud area. It’s relativity quite.
There is small black mold in the bathroom ceiling. The pillows are very hard to sleep on.

Nice stay in a quiet town.
Clean rooms with warm plankets and from time to time even hot showers.
Unsure where to find the hosts sometimes, but in the end everything worked out just fine.

After hiking the Quilotoa loop, what else could one wish for than a cup of hot tea, hot shower, cozy bed with more than enough warm blankets and some Netflix :) we had a great rest and breakfast in the morning was super delicious.

Nice stuff. Hot water. Clear. Super breakfast with great local juice.

Good location and big room with comfortable bed(s). The people are friendly and the breakfast was tasty and enough.
There was nobody there when we arrived (while we had made a reservation) and after calling 3 numbers someone answered and would come in 10-15 minutes. We had to wait in the rain, this was a bit disappointing.
The common area was closed and they didn’t open it. Our second stay after the Quilotoa 3 day hike we asked them if they could open. They did, which was great because it’s warmer there and you can sit on a couch.
The room is very cold: a (small) carpet on the ground would be very comfortable. Also in the shower. First day no warm water, second stay we took a shower before 5 pm and now it was warm.

At first glance this hostal seems like it's still being built. But inside it's nice, my room was very clean, modern and comfortable and the manager is a very nice, friendly man, although he doesn't speak a word of English (fortunately I can speak reasonable Spanish). The location is on a hill about 10 minutes uphill walk from the town centre but that's actually a good thing, for 2 reasons: 1. There are great views of the surrounding mountains and countryside from the rooftop, and 2. It's much quieter there than staying in the town. From what I could hear from the town below, it's full of barking dogs at night and from early on the Saturday morning there was some non-stop talking blaring out of a loudspeaker, which lasted all morning and could be heard all over town, though only faintly from this hostal. One tip: if you're coming by bus from Latacunga it goes right past the hostal. It's on the right-hand side of the main road just after it takes a hairpin bend and starts to descend the hill towards Zumbahua. When you see the sign just call out for the driver to stop and that will save you a 10 minute uphill walk. Also, there's a decent, cheap restaurant straight across the road in another hostal so you won't have to walk to the town to have dinner or breakfast.
When I first arrived at the hostal there was no staff there at all, only a workman renovating the place. He went to get someone and said the manager would be there in 5 minutes but I was waiting 40 minutes till a teenage schoolgirl daughter turned up and showed me to my room. The manager himself didn't show up until about 8pm. Also, it was very hard to regulate the temperature in the shower. It was either scaldingly hot or if I turned the cold tap on a touch more it went cold. Still, I survived it. Also, although I asked for the quietest room available I could still hear the traffic on the road outside and a few barking dogs at night. Thankfully, though, there was virtually no traffic after about 10pm and the few dogs I could hear were still a hell of a lot less than what's in the town.

The single room and the breakfast were fantastic. The family who runs it is great and does everything possible to help and offer suggestions, they even let you decide what time breakfast should be served. The town is very nice, it is an indigenous community that feels much more authentic than Quilotoa, where everything seems to cater to tourists. It is only 13km from the laguna and it's very easy to get there.
The location on MAPS.ME is incorrect. The owners have already moved to have it changed but the problem hasn't been fixed yet.
Everything was great.
