About this house rental
In 2023, we did a major update to the furnishings at Casa la Paloma, including new furniture, bed linens, decor, even light fixtures. In the spacious back yard you can enjoy the new hot tub, patio furniture, outdoor dining table and grill. It looks wonderful as shown by the fabulous guest reviews. The update was done with care and purpose to maintain the original style. Photos recently updated!
Exciting News: Swimming Pool and Pool House Coming in 2025!
We’re thrilled to announce the addition of a beautiful new swimming pool and pool cabana, set to be completed by July 2025! To make way for construction, a portion of the backyard will be screened off from January 2025 until July 1, 2025. Please note that the hot tub will not be accessible from March through July 2025.
During this period, we are prioritizing guest satisfaction by ensuring no construction work occurs during your stay. We will be limiting rentals to Thursday through Sunday, and nightly rates have been significantly discounted to account for our reduced availability.
We’re committed to preserving a serene and enjoyable experience for all our guests. The outdoor patio and dining area will remain fully accessible, so you can relax and savor the backyard space throughout the entire construction phase.
Step into the spirit of Early Sonoma California by staying at Casa la Paloma – one of Sonoma’s historic homes from the mid 1800s. It has been carefully renovated for comfort, convenience, the maintenance of its historic character and has received awards from the Historic Society. Filled with old world charm of Spanish/Mexican California, it is located right downtown only a block from the Plaza. It’s unique location provides you with the comfortable feeling of being in a neighborhood and the fun of being only a short stroll from the life of the Plaza – walk to the Farmer’s Market, the best restaurants, the historic Sebastiani theater and endless wine tastings. You’ll be pleased you don’t have to drive home!
Casa La Paloma has a lovely spacious backyard with old fruit trees, and a beautiful patio for dining outside . Here, you can barbeque, have a small family gathering, entertain friends for supper or just relax.
The large Great Room, with it’s original Salt Box architecture, creates a wonderful space with antique Spanish furnishings and charmingly combines the kitchen, dining area with a table for 8 and the living room.
The kitchen has everything you could need for quick meals or a gourmet dinner.
In the old Parlor/Library you can quietly read, watch TV, check your email or send the kids there to play board games.
Off the Great Room you’ll find the Master Bedroom with it’s beautiful, king-sized hand carved four-poster bed, European armoire and French doors which open to the patio. The adjoining spacious Master Bath has been completely remodeled for comfort.
The second downstairs Bedroom is in the heart of the older part of the house. It has a queen brass bed and is romantic, cozy and charming. Here, the spirit of the building welcomes you warmly.
Upstairs, in the older part of the house, there are 2 more bedrooms.
Sunny and sweet, the room on the right brings the mission Spanish character of old Sonoma together with modern style and comfort, and has a king-sized four poster bed and lots of closet space.
The bedroom on the left, also sunny and warm, has two queen-sized beds. Perhaps this is the best room for the children or a couple with a child.
There is no bathroom upstairs in this part of the old historic house.
Just downstairs off the kitchen, there is a second small newly remodeled bathroom with a corner shower which is shared with the downstairs bedroom.
The spaciousness, lovely garden and great location make Casa La Paloma a perfect location for special occasions – a place for the wedding friends and family to stay, host out of town guests who have come for a conference or workshop and would like to stay longer to tour the area etc.
Casa La Paloma’s great location, charm, and the feeling of old Sonoma will enhance your visit.

This was a great vrbo, well appointed and clean, perfect for our family of 8 and a great location. We loved the backyard seating and garden.

We have rented the Casa for multiple years running - always a delight. Was super hot this visit - but the AC and the shady back yard kept us all cool. The great room area is very charming and expansive.
The yard is wonderfully landscaped and well maintained. The communication and responsiveness with the management team was superlative. The location can't be beat.

This property was one of my favorite places I have ever stayed! Every corner was beautifully decorated and felt like a comfortable home. It had everything we needed and was in an incredible location-within walking distance of anything you might need! Can't recommend this place enough!

Lovely, comfortable, bright, warm and inviting. Every room felt like home. The very open concept made it easy to visit whether cooking, dining or sitting in living area. Double doors from great room and double doors from primary room open to patio and HUGE yard with magnificent, tall trees and allowed for many areas to visit or be quiet far from house. The primary bedroom could easily be a studio apartment plus my favorite Mexican paver flooring. The den was perfect for privacy and quiet time. All bedrooms bright (or dark with closed curtains) had very, very comfortable beds and quality bedding. Cars can be parked and never used given everything you could want is walking distance. I’m hopeful a month long stay is in our future. And Kendall could not have been more responsive and kind. Excellent.

Wonderful spot within a short 5 min walk to the square. Such charming atmosphere and lots of gathering spots to chat with friends. Better than the pictures show really. Decently stoked spices and lots of utensils for cooking. Great communication with the property management. Would definitely recommend!

Perfect 3 night stay for family—grandparents, kids, spouses, grandkids, happy dog. Beautiful house filled with comfort and character. So close to wonderful plaza, sights, fun shops. Key: relaxing, laid back. Grab it!

My family stayed at the house recently. Several of us were running the Napa to Sonoma Half Marathon. The house was wonderful, spacious, clean and well appointed with great location. It looked much better and larger than the pictures. Plenty of gathering space for our group of 7. Bonus: House was on mile marker 13 of the half route. Non runners were able to cheer finish from front porch. Only drawback to house was it just had two bathrooms downstairs. The positives outweighed that by a large margin. Interactions with host were prompt and friendly.

Really a beautiful home right in town at the end of the street of shops and restaurants. Ideal.
Home itself is really beautiful and charming and well kept. Avra, Kendall were A+ on Communications.
Highly recommend this listing.

Great location in downtown Sonoma, beautiful kitchen and yard to enjoy breakfast, dinners and relaxing with wine.
Overall a really great place for a smaller group, maybe a girls weekend - only 1 bed that comfortably fits a couple. Beautiful master bedroom! Totally stocked kitchen for cooking.
Something to note is that the 4th bedroom seems to be a converted room off the living room, so the lights and sounds come through the makeshift wall. I think some of the pillows are in need of a replacement.

I rarely stay at the same place twice, but I would TOTALLY stay here again! In fact, I hope to. The location is beyond perfect- makes it really easy for a group to quickly split up to grab a bite, some coffee, dessert, a tasting, or go shopping. Makes for a great trip when you don’t have to gather the troops all day long to go anywhere. I have little kids (1 and 4yrs), and tend to get places a bit further away from the bustle, but staying so close to town is my new format!
Now the house. Wow. Beautifully restored (originally built in the 1800s). Nicely appointed (better than the pics). Plenty of room inside and outside (the back yard is private and MASSIVE!l). A couple things that might matter to you: only 2 bathrooms (full BR is in the master bedroom, the only other BR is off the main room and is a small 3/4 - still plenty of room to get ready in the nicely sized bedrooms). Also, the internet’s not great, but maybe that was just temporary.
You should totally book this spot for a great experience near town!

One of my favorite rental properties ever. Like others have said the pictures do not do it justice. We entered through the backyard and was stunned at the park like size and feel. Lots of simple touches, and places to relax amongst the flowers and foliage. We were equally excited to enter the main room with its Bonanza like feel. One of our guests termed it “The Lodge.”
A perfect set up for visiting and cooking meals. I always bring a few spices and kitchen supplies but we Found everything had everything we needed in the kitchen. The location to the plaza and restaurants is ideal. Absolutely would love to rent this property in the future.

This property has a lot of character, with interesting furniture and accents (a lovely old accordion and autoharp), well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds with plenty of pillows and blankets. It was a short walk to many of the places we wanted to visit. We rented bicycles to visit a couple of more distant wineries. One disappointment was that the hot tub was not working, but the owner reimbursed us for that without hesitation. Would love to stay here again.

Our group of 6 adults really enjoyed our stay at this home in Sonoma. Location was perfect and was easy walking distance to everything in the Plaza.
I really am appreciative of the suggestions from Noni and the accommodations with the BBQ location (damn rain! Lol). I would definitely stay here again! Thank you

I'm just now coming off the buzz of my 50th birthday party with a group of friends at this fantastic house. I can't rave about it enough - the old world charm, location and all around "fun vibe" can't be beat.
There was one night that we were out at a local venue in the square and the group of us decided we would rather be at the house playing music and games, so we headed home! Even the locals are obsessed with this house! We had a knock at the door one morning and a local couple wanted to come in and tour the place. I politely declined because it wasn't my place to show and other couple of groups of locals walking by asked how our stay was and we all raved about it.
I would 100% rent this home again. Unfortunately it was raining during our stay, so we didn't get to enjoy the hot tub or backyard (HUGE), but the inside was so warm and inviting that we didn't care. The kitchen has ample supplies and the bedrooms were cozy. The only downfall was the upstairs doesn't have a bathroom, so it was not ideal for the girls on the 2nd level.
All in all, great place and location. Being that it rained, we were very fortunate to be only a FEW STEPS from the square where we enjoyed shopping, eating and drinking.
I can't thank you enough for this gal's best birthday ever Noni!!

Full of charm, character and warmth, this large house is a great location and base for exploring yourselves and the Sonoma region. The rooms were more spacious than the pictures conveyed, and the yard is phenomenal. My favorite is the living room/kitchen area which is one cavernous room with plenty of light (thanks to skylights) and curios. We would definitely stay here again.

The house was better than listed. It was so charming and more spacious than the photos let on. Kitchen had everything we needed and more. Location was walking distance to all shops and restaurants and just a short drive to both Sonoma and Napa vineyards. Would 100% recommend for any group looking to spend time in the area.

Great location!
We really enjoyed our stay at Casa la Paloma! The location is fantastic, just off the Sonoma Plaza. We were in town for a wedding and were able to walk to all the events as well as explore the area on foot. The house is full of character and charm. Ample space for five adults! We had everything we needed in the kitchen. I had a few questions before booking and the owner was quick to respond. We would definitely stay at this house again is we were back in the area. Great find!

Six of us had plenty of room in this wonderfully charming house. The location could not have been any better - literally a block from the square. The hosts were very responsive and helpful. I will definitely book again the next time we are in wine country. Thank you!

Lovely quaint house in a convenient location
Our party of 7 adults stayed at this house for a week for a family wedding. The proximity to Sonoma square cannot be beat. (Off-street parking was a plus as the on-street parking gets filled with people driving in to get there).
We needed a zero-entry house for my 89-year old parents and were able to do so with this house. All of the bedrooms are roomy (although the upstairs bedrooms have full beds which can make it a little tight for the actual sleeping if its 2 people per bed).
We spent our free time at the house lounging in the large comfortable great room and basking in the afternoon sun on the lovely back patio. We didn't partake of the hottub as we have them at home, but the water looked clear and clean which you don't always see with rentals.
The owners supplied consumables ( dish detergent, hand soap, etc) and plenty of towels which were nice touches. We had one issue while there and were able to get a response from the owners within a short timeframe.
Overall a very comfortable stay in a quaint, comfortable, older house that I would highly recommend

Wow! What a spot!
I walked into the house and was blown away. Not only was the location perfect (a 1 minute walk to the square) but the house was charming and fun. They even had Christmas decorations up. The beds were extremely comfortable, the hot tub clean and warm, and everything was comfortable and cozy. I hope to come back here again soon! We loved our stay. I would highly recommend this spot.
